1. This 'mandolin' was constructed with parts that could NEVER warrant a $199.00 price. The bridge was not mounted, their was loose wood dangling inside of the body. If you're buying this for a young child to bash on, go for it, but I wouldn't recommend this for learners or anyone actually wanting to own a mandolin to play on.



2. This mandolin is not worth getting. Spend a little bit more and go to a real music store to get a real music quality mandolin!



3. The nut is far too high, making the first few frets far too sharp (the first fret sounds like the second).
   Don't waste the money.

1. This is closer to being a toy than a real mandolin. It came with some odd strings which were actually red in color. These tuned without breaking but they were cheap junk as are a lot of the strings, apparently, on anything from China.
   
   One of the problems with the original strings was that the tuner pegs were wrapped so many turns that the strings kept popping off the edge.
   
   The pegs themselves were rather shoddy but they worked okay. After I oiled them and restrung the thing it was hard to play but not entirely bad.
   
   The gig bag it comes with is a joke, of course, and the instrument itself is garishly far east in appearance. It was made of some kind of real wood and, if you picked it up in a toy store for fifteen or twenty bucks it would probably be great for a kid though it is not the instrument to encourage playing the mandolin.
   
   With shipping, this thing came to about forty five bucks. Do yourself a favor and get the inexpensive Rogue A-model mandolin or something similar. My only advice for buying this is don't unless you collect mandolins and want to anchor the low, low end of your collection. To get any lower you'd have to go plastic and have cartoon animals on the thing.
