1. I noticed that you said this method book was written by "Mary King Waddington". Well, that's incorrect. It should say "Mary KAY Waddington". It's Kay, not King. Please fix it!

   My kids have followed the Suzuki curriculum for several instruments. I think the Harp progression is probably the best organized in terms of cleanly adding skills one at a time for each song. I would recommend it to anyone learning harp -- child or adult, "Suzuki" or "traditional".
   
   It can be a lot easier to learn songs when you know the words. Here is one set:

1. Great book ! Is a step by step instruction book but is for intermediate players (There are some gaps of knowledge). Also the included cd is a little bit unstructured (big tracks, examples less than from book). Generally it seems to constituted with chapters and parts from other books. All the same is the more completed and one from the best book for harmonica players



2. I was looking for a book that had some of the harp sounds that were familiar to me. This book was good for that. It supplied just what I was looking for. The CD was a bonus.

1. While many of the negative reviewers here raise valid points about predictable stock characters, I still found the book to be a fun read. The premise of Juilene's curse that keeps her from accepting charity is an interesting one, but I feel that it was not exploited as much as it could have been. I'm not sure what the people who accuse it of being slow are talking about... I enjoyed Ms. Bush's writing style and finished the book in a couple of days. While it may not warrant a full five stars it will not dissapoint a fantasy fan who merely wants some light reading while waiting for the next book from their favorite author.



2. I absolutely loved this book! it was totally unexpected and i never would have picked it up except for i was in the airport and the plane was delayed like 5 hours so i picked out a book to read and i LOVED IT!



3. To be honest, when I picked up this book I was expecting a historical medieval romance, this was not what I got. This story was pure fantasy, about a make believe world with evil wizardry, thurges, master thurges, over thurges - thanes, and all sorts of classes of people that I had never run across before running all over in a fantasy land - again that I had never heard of. But I figured what the heck, I am into it why not broaden my horizons!

   The story starts off with Lady Juilene who has been classically trained as a harpist and with a pleasing voice wants nothing more than to enter a competition before she marries her betrothed Arimond. Arimond's sister is attacked rather brutally by the evil thurge Lindos' soldiers - one of many such brutal type happenings in their domain. Arimond thinks he can defeat and kill the thurge if Juilene can, pose as a song-sayer and get Lindos to drop his guard. - This does not happen - Arimond is caught and killed - Juilene is brought back to Lindos' keep and given an option - marry Lindos. She refuses, and he places a curse on her that would hurt anyone who offers her aid, to be broken only by someone who will love her for herself. To save her family and friends she flees with nothing but her harp and a few coins.

   The rest of the story tells the trials and tribulations of this once pampered Lady who must now earn coin for her food, shelter and anything else she needs. You get to watch her grow up and draw on strengths she never knew she had. I would say that this was geared more for a young adult but there is a scene in which Juliene loses her innocence that might make a parent think twice. Eventually, a knight does come into her life with many secrets of his own. The romance story is sweet and their journey together is rife with danger. All in all - this not being a genre that I have immense knowledge of - I would say it is an okay read. Interesting concept if you like that sort of thing.




4. I chose this book for my 14 year old sister who adores fantasy fiction. On a lark, I read the book first. There is a unexpected rape scene involving the heroine which was as disturbing as it was detailed. When it was over, she asks her rapist for money! If I had wanted a brutal, realistic novel for a young teen, I would have bought something else.



5. I picked up this book in a used bookstore and began reading it that night. The story line is excellent and I loved the idea of Juilene being cursed and anyone who helps her gets hurt. I also loved the idea of her falling in love with Cariad, a knight from the future. Unfortunately, the ending was way to rushed and left many unanswered questions, as though it was waiting for a sequel. They don't say what happened to him and Juilene, or if he was ever allowed to prevent himself going back. It was choppy and clumsy. The story line was excellent but just didn't cut it for me.

1. I found this book fairly interesting in the sense that it is the first book that I have seen that gives an actual definition of harmonica positions based upon actual music theory. I think most harmonica lovers will definitely get something out of this book.
