2 comments about Three Minute Meditator.
- If you want to integrate meditation into your "regular" life, check out this book. Many meditation books explain how to meditate, but they treat meditation as if it's separate from the rest of daily life. This book has the most practical advice and tools that I've seen.
- I have several books on meditation. Somehow I always tend to pick up this one. It is quite inspiring.
I started off with a Dutch pocket version of this title, but recently I purchased the 'updated' one in English. Very clear and to the point, written with lots of humour. It makes me want to go for it straight away and that's just what I need.

1 comments about The Three Ravens, and Other Ballads, Arranged for Lap Harp.
- "The Three Ravens" is a collection of over thirty beautiful and ancient ballads, arranged in Guldimann's graceful style. The author includes lyrics and interesting historical notes, making this a perfect anthology for anyone interested in folk music, whether they play the harp or not. The arrangements are simple enough to be mastered by harp students who have had about a year of experience, can be sight-read by intermediate players, and include chord markings so that advanced players can fill out the accompaniment if they wish. The range is from bass C to G above treble C, a perfect fit for the standard 22 string lap harp.
I've spent many enjoyable hours with this book. Besides expanding my harp repertoire, I've learned a few more ballads to sing to myself while doing my housework. I highly recommend this book. My only complaint is that the stapled binding comes apart rather easily. I would suggest that once you get this book, go and get it cut and spiral bound, which is an inexpensive procedure at Kinkos or any office store with a printing center.

5 comments about Rock N' Blues Harmonica: A Beginner's Guide to Jamming.
- Jon Gindick trys to teach playing the blues in way that is entertaining and non-intimidating. But in the end the message is lost in a sea of meaningless chatter and storytelling. There are some good pieces of information in the book but they are difficult to root out.
- This book is a wonderful blend of music lesson and story-telling. If you get hung up on something technical, there is plenty of lore to pull you through the rough spots and keep up your interest. Who knew making music could be so easy, and so much fun?
- It was a birthday present from my sister and I use it all the time. I think if you want to learn to play harmonica, this is a great way to start.
- I just started blowing on a harp I picked up and wanted something to learn some simple blues by. Although the premise of the book is a story of some cave men who learned the harmonica, there is a great deal of information here. I even found it a bit inspirational. I would recommend to those of you with a sense of humor who want to start learning for fun. If you are looking for strictly technical don't buy it.
- Great book to get you started goes through theory straight harp cross harp and slant harp. very good teaching book. Goes through some theory. A quick read that you'll be reading over and over again. Great blues riff to get you wailing. I would suggest getting the cassettes with this or any blues instruction book.

- Tony "Little Sun" Glover is a white boy what know. This beginner's guide to the low down world of blues harp makes the right recommendation up front -- "One of the best ways to learn the techniques is to listen, listen, listen, listen every chance you get." Now that's advice that delivers on its promise in a most pleasing way. In between times, Little Sun's book will introduce you to the basics that will launch you on one of life's most satisfying journeys -- blowin' harp.
- I used this book as a teen to learn Blues Harp, that was, sad to say, 30 years ago. The experience of learning with this book was a lot of fun, still remembered clearly, and effective, I still play and enjoy it.
You want to learn Blues Harp (of course, you do), get this book. Can't miss.

1 comments about Baroque Music for the Harp.
- Where to start, where to start... I've played piano for 30 years now, and lever harp for about two months, and was able to jump right into this book. The arrangements are delightful - in particular, I've been working on Handel's Hornpipe from Water Music, and the Spring and Summer arrangements from Vivaldi's Four Seasons. She's done a beautiful job with the arrangements, and I've found them easily adaptible to my 22-string harp. The fingerings seem pretty sound (I've changed a few to fit my piano fingers), the print layout/font is easy-to-read, and the keys are relatively simple - mostly C, G, D. Lever changes seem to be placed will in-advance of the accidental, for the most part.
That being said, this isn't a beginner's book. It requires some theory and an ability to read bass and treble clef simultaneously (if you've had piano, you shouldn't find it too difficult).
I will definitely purchase more of Friou's books in the future. I already own her exercises for agility and speed, and have found them very helpful!
