  1. I bought this guitar earlier this year and it has been great to play with. I tried out many different guitars, and they either didn't feel good, or they were out of my price range. The first time I tried this one out, it felt horrible in my hands, then a month later I tried it out again and it felt perfect. The neck is fairly thin which is what I was looking for since my hands aren't too big. A lot of reviewers say this guitar has bad pickups, but it sounds pretty good to me. I have a small 20 watt amp and a Digitech Grunge Pedal hooked up to it and I get some really nice sound out of it. I've learned to play with little difficulty on this guitar and recommened you try it out first to make sure it works for you.

Don't let the people who say this is a bad guitar get to you.

  2. Its a great guitar. One thing it could improve on is general sound. But when hooked up with a distrotion pedal and a nice amp, depending on what your going to play, for metal and infused metal. Its just great. I love it and Bc Rich is just a great guitar company. Also Squire fenders are just as good with a distrotion pedal and amp.

  3. I am 15 years old and in a metal band. When i got this guitar, it was the missing link in creating heavy music. The sound so heavy and dark, and the quality is at it's perfection. The price is one to die for and with a good amp you can rock out.

  4. i have a bc rich warlock and it sounds great plays great and looks great.
i also put some decs(decals) and made it look pimp
    GO BC RICH!!!!

  5. I dig the tone, the shape, I find myself able to play faster than before (good action)

Only thing that put me off is how the fretboard and headstock are heavier than the body itself, sometimes making it awkward to hold. It's something small in the overall experience however.

I highly recommend the guitar to anyone learning, heck, even those who have been playing for a while!

  1. I purchased this guitar for my young sons taking lessons but this guitar is just as playable for an adult as for a child. Their guitar teacher was very impressed by the sound and construction of the guitar and the kit bag was actually a pretty good little bag.

  1. THIS IS A GREAT GUITAR.IT IS WELL WORTH THE MONEY.YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY CONSIDER BUYING THIS GUITAR.i have had mine for 2 years and have had no problems with it.and let me tell you i play this guitar constantly i rarely EVER put it down.

  2. I am in love with this pack! I got this set around New Year's Day. I classify myself into the beginner>low intermediate bracket, so I'll explain what each thing is so beginners/parents know what I'm talking about. This is my first electric guitar (up until then, I played my mom's old Resonata classical). This set is amazing! It has everything a beginner needs to become an intermediate/pro.
    Get this kit!

  1. I didn't want to rate this item because I never got to try it out but the system forced me to choose a star in order to write this review. Guitar shipped from American Musical Store and wasn't packaged properly. Was shipped right off the shelf with no extra packaging for protection therefore when it arrived the guitar was damaged. Had to go thru American Musical to get a return shipping label as Amazon doesn't handle returns on things they don't ship directly. The guitar/amp/accessories where at great deal but unfortunately not great enough for me to keep damaged goods.

  2. This guitar is freakin bad....the zipper of the gig bag broken in 2 weeks...the tuner dont tune right..the picks are really bad.....the strap is bad..it scratch on shoulder......the metal thing that hold the strap broke .....this guitar is really bad..do not buy it..i dont recommend it...the amp..sounds bad sometimes..this guitar its not good enough for its price...this guitar is worth for me ..like 20 bucks...just that.

  3. Silvertone guitar and amp played great AND the amp has a headphone jack as well as an input to play along with my iPod. Very cool feature!

  4. Ok, here's a list of what makes this a bad guitar:
1- The strings don't feel right. Specially the 6th string. It hits the fret board and makes an annoying sound even if you strum lightly.
2- The amp is not clear.
3- The tuner messes the tuning instead of adjusting it.

On the other hand, it has some advantages:
1- The picks are good. They come with different colors.

    Conclusion:
Don't buy! Unless it's you 1st guitar and you don't want to spend much money. However, if it's your first time with guitars, I recommend buying an acoustic. Many very good acoustics are sold with cheap prices.

Thanks for reading. I hope this was a helpful review.

  5. I've been trying to seriously begin playing the guitar for a while, and I bought this one in hopes that spending money on an electric would motivate me more than just using the acoustic that I never had a rapport with. I bought this Silvertone as a starter kit, just looking for something solid and inexpensive. I settled on this one because most of the other guitars in the price range were Austin Bazaar, and Austin Bazaar seems to make very low-quality starter kits in hopes that people who don't know better will buy them.

This guitar has done exactly what I wanted, I can't stop playing it. It comes with everything you need as a beginner--it's already stringed (with light gauge strings, which are good to start with), has a spare set of them as well, picks, amp, tuner, and cable. The only thing you could possibly want added would be a distortion pedal, but a beginner has bigger things to worry about.

I have had no problems at all with the guitar. It is solid and well-built, very satisfying to play. This is probably the best deal you can find on a starter kit.

  1. I didn't really get any more than I expected from this guitar. First the bad. As others may have stated, the finish is not glossy like the picture and it has a pick guard, also not in the picture, but is OK. I had to change the strings as they were somewhat corroded. There were several minor finish flaws and there is a shadow of some poorly cleaned off glue or something that shows on the spruce top when held up to the light just right. Most people will never see most of these flaws as they are felt more than seen. Would have been nice to have a strap button by the neck. I use a leather thong at the headstock but will install a button on the body soon.
Now the good. The action on this guitar is medium to medium/low. The intonation is great for such a cheap guitar. It stays in tune pretty well. This is a good first guitar and I'm happy with it over all. I've banged into a doorway with it and chipped the paint... off the doorway. The guitar was fine.
I got Jasmine for a play anywhere anytime guitar and it's been great for that. My baby grabs and smacks it around and the semigloss finish hides his handprints. I don't really care. Someday it'll be his.

  2. I'm learning guitar on my own right now. This was my first guitar that I've bought myself and I have to say that I'm quite satisfied.

The people that have tried out the guitar have all given compliments about how nice it is.

The intonation is nothing to complain about.

One thing that should be noted is that the action is slightly higher than normal and it takes some getting used to; once you get used to it, it's alright.

And one final note, I purchased this guitar directly from the Musician's Friend website where I got free shipping.

  3. This is my second Tak, and I am pleased to find that, despite the low price, it has that same Takamine quality to it. I have found none of the problems noted in other comments: I like the pick guard, which is clearly depicted in the catalog photo; the action does not seem all that high for an inexpensive guitar; the strings were in good shape; there were no noticeable finish problems. I bought it for knocking around -- beach, pool parties, etc -- not for serious performance work. This would have been a decent buy at $200 (I paid about $200 for my first guitar in 1977!); at $100 it is a very good bargain. The only criticism I have is that it arrived more than 10 days past the estimated delivery date. That's OK. A guitar this good and inexpensive is worth the wait.

  4. Although like many of my generation, I had wanted to learn to play guitar as a teenager, but I never realized that dream. Now as an 54 year old, I'm going to give it a try.
So this review will be from the point of view of an inexperinced novice. I was looking for a cheap, um....... inexpensive guitar to learn on, after searching different places for reviews for something that would meet my requirments. I settle upon the Takamine S34C, because of the opinons of many experinced musicans, who said they were impress by the sound and tone of this inexpensive instrument.
Now for my humble review, it seems to have good quailty construction and a nice satin finish. It tunes easily and holds its tune. Intonation seems good. When I'm ready to replace the strings, I'm thinking maybe D'Addario EXP 16 and maybe have the action lowered.
All in all, I'm very happy this guitar and think this not only makes a very good beginner's guitar, but one that might give good use for many years to come.
I ranked it 5-stars for my satisfaction.I don't have any experince to rank it to other $100 guitars, does it garner 5-stars aginst them? I don't know, maybe.

  5. The first thing I can say is that the guitar is absolutely beautiful. It's well made, sounds amazing, stays in tune well. Basically, you are getting good Takamine quality for the price of a Harmony... and it will last longer. Definitely not your typical "bargain guitar".

My only complaint is that there is that there is only one knob for a neck strap. It's easy enough to fix with a little effort (Or you can just tie the strap to the neck (under the strings of course), but it would really be nice to have that second knob :) Don't let that turn you away from the Jasmine, though. You wont get a better guitar for the price!!

  1. I've played the guitar all of my life and have several Yamaha classical guitars. These are the only nylon-string guitars that are I will buy and that are worth buying.

Yamaha classical guitars are the best inexpensive high quality classical guitars that you can purchase. I've bought several other brands of classical guitars in the past but always end up selling them. I always keep the Yamahas.

If you research classical guitars on the Internet, you will find that Yamaha brand is the best classical guitar that you can buy for the money. They are not hand crafted like the more expensive brands but who cares? They are made by a computer controlled machine to exact tolerances. They play just as great as one made by a craftsman. Sure there are more expensive classical guitars out there but why pay more for same thing that you can buy cheaper? Especially when it is easy to play and sounds great.
