- i got it with a dent and they would not return its because i blew into it
- I hadn't played in over 20 years, so didn't want to spend a whole lot on a flute until I got the hang of it. Well, it's an okay flute. I guess the surprise is that I was better than I thought I was. It's a pretty good beginner flute, as I'm finding out with my daughter. She's learning clarinet in the band at school. And now, thanks to this flute, she's learning it at home with me and the book I got to refresh myself. For her, it works great. But I'm already shopping for a better quality one for myself - one that can handle the strength of my breathing better and produce a better tone for me.
- I have read some negative reviews regarding Cecilio, but I have many flutes ranging in price from 200$ - to 400$ and my favorite insofar as tone and playability is the Cecilio! It may not be a YAMAHA, but who but a concert performer would need one?
- Haven't touched a flute for about 25 years, but thought now might be a good time to try again. This flute is just the ticket for putting one's toe in the water; it's inexpensive, and rather impressive for the money. The unit is nicely made, with a beautiful silver finish. In fact, the finish is so slick that the flute is a little slippery to hold; I'm sure that will pass with some use. The action is tight and responsive - and relatively quiet for a low cost piece. This flute does not seem to have the ambiguous almost-heavy solidness and balance I recall, but I may be looking back with a too-fond nostalgia.
Even though the embouchure feels a bit small (or maybe I just got larger), the tone of this flute is clear and pleasant, comparable to the Armstrong I used to use. Pad closure and seal are nice and tight and 'soft'.
It came in a fairly nice case - I say fairly because there is no place for the cleaning rod, which must be stowed inside the flute body, or left behind. The latches of the case are somewhat clumsy.
I cannot tell if the flute was made in China, or just the case. No reflection on the instrument, I just prefer not to buy Chinese right now if I can help it.
- This is a great flute, especially for students. I was surprised when the flute arrived as the quality was much better than I anticipated. The only problem, which has nothing to do with the flute itself, is the case that the flute comes in is to tight and seems that it could bend the keys so I bought a better case but everything else is fine.

- This was a great deal especially considering how much the school wants to charge for a used one. I used to play and bought this one for my daughter and was very pleased with the quality and would highly recommend this flute to anyone!
- I bought this flute for my daughter to learn to play in grade school band. Overall, I was very impressed with the quality of the instrument. There was one catch, the "f" key wouldn't seat properly and we had to have it adjusted. Once adjusted, the flute plays fine.
Service was good, flute well packed and arrived when stated in perfect condition.
I would buy another instrument through Amazon's dealers. I am looking at a violin at this time.
- This flute has a decent sound for a beginner but after just a few uses, one of the cork-type pads fell off.
- We use this extensively for our daughters school band. Previously we had to rent the instrument every year for almost the same price!! This is an excellent value for the money. As an added bonus we dont have to worry about other users having used the instrument before!!
- I played the flute in 4th grade and now at 33 years old, decided to pick it back up. The flute came very well packaged and with a little brochure complete with proper care instructions and a fingering chart. I love the case that is slightly bigger than the flute itself to give you room to work when taking it out and putting it away. I was happy that it came with the tenor grease and the cleaning/polishing cloths, too. I've been playing the flute every night for a week for about an hour a night and so far it has been flawless. I love this flute and would've spent more on it if I had to.

- This is your typical ISO - Instrument Shaped Object. Leaks like a sive. Breaks when you breathe too hard. Buy brand names only - not Chinese junk. This thing ended up in my garden as a lawn ornament.
- Can't beat it for the price. A workable flute that has a nice sound. I wanted a cheaply priced flute for school, and this one worked well for me.

- I was really surprised at how quickly I received the flute and how nice it was for the price. It sounds really nice too, I highly recommend it for a beginner.
- I had questions about this instrument in comparison to both other flutes and the Glenn Edward nickel-plated flute which is more popular as far as a selling item here at Amazon and the man I called at The Instrument Store was so very helpful. He answered my questions and I did not feel pressured.
The flute arrived just 2 days after my order went in and it came securely packaged. I gave it to my teenage daughter who's been playing the flute for the past 7 years and she absolutely loved it. At first, we all thought it had problems but upon careful examination, realized that the flute was well-packed and had small pieces of cork under some of the pads and keys. Once those were removed, it played well, except for the D or E note. My daughter tried to play her musical piece, still with the problems. She cleaned the flute (cleaning pipe came with the flute) and the next day when I sat down to call the company, I played the flute and it sounded beautiful. Our guess is that when she cleaned it with the pipe cleaner, one of the protective pieces was still there and was dislodged by the cleaning cloth.
The flute case is beautiful, sturdy and appears to be high quality. My daughter loves that it's so comfortable to adjust the carrying strap and toss it over her shoulder.
By the way, the answer I was given about the difference between the nickel-plated and the silver-plated flutes is that the nickel will pretty much always remain shiny and the silver will need to be polished often. The nickel will become discolored in places where your hand (or lip) touches it pretty consistently. It will take quite a while to discolor, but once it does it's pretty impossible to get that part shiny again. The nickel flute is great for younger kids, but the silver flute is typically lighter and does have a better sound quality than nickel.
This is a fabulous deal for what you're getting. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to play...it's less expensive than fixing an old flute.
- This is an excellent flute for a beginning band student. My daughter loved it so much that she turned in the borrowed instrument from the school. Her music teacher also says it's a great flute is definitly worth every penny paid for. The company does an excellent job with shipping...we are not in the US and still received it in about a weeks time! Awesome!
- I bought this flute a few months ago after not playing for several years. I was worried, because of the low price, that it would not be a quality instrument, but the other good reviews convinced me. I have found it to be easy to play with good sound, especially the higher notes where most people have trouble. Plus, the carrying strap has come in handy and I wish my flute from my school band days would have had one, as it would have prevented it from being dropped many times when my hands were full otherwise. When it arrived it was packaged securely, and it came within 3 days of ordering.
Overall, I have had no problems at all with this flute, and I do play it regularly.
- Got this for my grand daughter and couldn't be more pleased. Exceeded my expectations and she is thrilled (as is her musical Dad) and using it. It is an excellent student flute and a great price. Stunning delivery time, too. Wish I could find as exceptional a buy on a saxophone.

- I received the flute quick and in good condition exept for some sticky goo on the inside of the body piece, about an inch wide. I took it off with q-tip and vascoline. The embouchure hole is the oval shape (unlike the Jupiters and Armstrong, which is a rounded-off square shape), and requires soft playing to get clear notes. If you like a better tone, and dont mind using more air power, I suggest the other models mentioned. For now Im happy with this model, since the notes are quicker having the small oval shape, and needing less effort and air. For my indoor hobby I find it suitable for soft and quiet playing. The keys are soft to the touch, not bouncy, and you get a black plastic cleaning rod with it.
- The flute is pretty well. I've been using this flute for marching in my marching band. I gave it 4 stars only because the flute sometimes can't play certain notes such as the G and the Ab. But again, this flute has gone through rain and sunshine during marching band and is still working pretty well.
i have had this flute for quite a long time and haven't brought it for repair once. (occassionally one of the springs or the screws came loose but my dad just poped it right back in with a screwdriver) I wouldn't reccommend this flute for advanced flute players as it is a begginner flute. The 3SB Gemeinhardt flute shall do good for advanced players or intermediate players.
- We are very happy with the purchase and the price.
- This model of flute (2SP) has been the standard for beginners for years. I played one 25 years ago, and as a flutist and band director, recommend them. Amazon's price is a very good price for a new flute of this quality.
When your child moves up to an intermediate flute, or quits the flute (it DOES happen...), the name Gemeinhardt will give you assurance that you have a decent resale value. This particular model is in the top two of the readily available models in the US (that I recommend), and is the least expensive of those two.
It is a good idea when buying ANY woodwind instrument to have an instrument check look it over. Even new instruments can get out of adjustment in shipping! A good instrument tech can make a world of difference.
- Gemeinhardt flutes, I have found, have a harsh tone to them and aren't as fluid to play as other brands. The keys always feel stiff.

- I ordered a flute on August 31, 2007. So I called on September 10, 2007. The day it was supposed to arrive. I called and was told it was on back order, but the owner says he could overnight it to me if I agreed to split the cost of overnighting it. I was told that he contacted Amazon about the the backorder. Amazon had no record of it. I feel I was misled and was asked to pay more to cover his mistake. Thank you Amazon for your help in resolving this matter.
- I've owned this flute for over a year, now, and have been constantly impressed with its tone, workmanship, and appearance. The cork stops tend to come off a little too easily, but replacement cork bits are included. This is an excellent starter or practice instrument, particularly for its price. Highly recommended.
- No problems what so ever. It come with a cute little case. Very affordable. Later on I plan on getting a more advanced model, but for now I am very satisfied with this one.
- I purchased this after returning a flute I bought on another website for a much higher price. That one was of poor quality so I was not certain what I was getting here. Let me tell you the quality and workmanship are awesome and you can't beat the price. I am totally happy with my choice and if you have any doubts, forget them as this is the one to purchase especially for a beginner.
- I bought this flute for my sister, she liked it very much, so did her instructor. The price is good too.
