- I took piano (on an upright piano) for about seven years before I went to college. I got this keyboard as a birthday present in February 2007 (I had done the research and found it). It has lived in my college's on-campus apartment since then, and in a storage unit over the summer, and has experienced no problems. In the past year of use, it's been a great tool.
Pros:
Very nice, sleek look.
Enough choices to have fun - different tones, recorded songs + songbook, etc - while still "professional".
Pretty easy to adjust to weighted keys.
Good sound.
Comes with a free pedal!
Cons:
The sound of keys is very apparent while playing. You can solve this by using headphones or turning the sound up a bit.
A bit weighty - I don't know what keyboardists lug around, but this one's hard to move around casually.
Overall, I'd highly recommend it! A great value for the price.
- Awesome, pretty close to a piano. We just love it. Great sound and very good looking :D. The price is a +.
- The keboard plays very much as a piano with much less weight, space, and maintenance. My favorite aspect of the keyboard is touch response, which allows me to create different sounds based on how hard I hit the keys. This feature expands the selection of songs I can play, and improves the quality of my compositions. The multiple tones of the keyboard also allow me to have fun in experimenting with other instrumental sounds aside from the piano.
- I just started taking piano a few months ago. As an adult learner I didn't want to commit to an upright until I see how successful I am at this new "hobby". This piano is the perfect compromise and I recommend it to anyone.
Pros:
It has pressure sensitive keys allow you to play as loudly or softly as you desire.
It has a volume dial for keeping your practice quiet.
There is a headphone jack for keeping your lesson completely private.
88 full size keys as opposed to cheaper toy versions of keyboards make it easy to switch to an upright when you play on your teacher's piano for your lesson.
It has some measure of portability, so it would be easy to sell on ebay if the time comes as opposed to an upright piano which would be harder to sell.
Cons:
Even the loudest setting is fairly quiet, so you would need an amplifier to play in public.
It's a little heavy and cumbersome to take out and about.
Since these are my thoughts as a new piano student, I thought they may be helpful. I often tell my husband that "I love my piano." So I guess that statement speaks for itself.
- I got this piano for my daughters since they started piano lessons. It sounds and feels like a regular piano. For the price, it is a good buy.

- Yamaha YPT-400 has USB-MIDI
I bought the Yamaha YPT-400 too and using a regular USB cable I was able to:
(a) add/subtract songs (.mid files) from a WinXP computer.
(b) use the USB-MIDI feature...play the PYT-400 as a MIDI keyboard & play/record on computer using any 3rd party MIDI software (I used Voyetra Teach Me Piano Deluxe).
- the USB-MIDI keyboard is seen as "Yamaha Portatone-1" using "General MIDI" by such MIDI software on the computer.
I used USB driver included on CD-ROM (all USB devices need a driver whether it's provided via Microsoft or directly from manufacturer) and also the newer USB driver version available free for download at some yamaha site (just google for "yamaha ypt 400 usb driver").
- I bought a YPT-400. I wanted primarily to play along with downloaded songs. When I got to the 12th downloaded song it would not take the 13th song. After back and forth with Yamaha, apparently I was out of memory, making the specs and also the specs re downloaded songs here and in the manual misleading at best. Otherwise, it is a great instrument for the price.
- An amazing keyboard for it's price!!! The Grand Feature feels awesome!!! I bought this for my husband for Christmas, unfortunatley it arrived in the manufacturers box, so surprise spoiled. Not Amazon's Fault! Anyway,
he hasn't been able to stop playing since it arrived. The clear sound, sounds like it is connected to an amp.. Amazing features! Great item to own for it's price!!!! Definately recomend this product!!!
- I am an adult who took piano for a year as a kid and am now taking lessons again. This keyboard has been great for me, as it is small and has good sound. I appreciate that I can plug in earphones or turn the volume way down if I don't want everyone else to have to listen to me practicing. Except for the built in metronome, I have not used any of the extra "features" and honestly would prefer that there just be fewer buttons, but that's a silly complaint. The one thing that really bothers me is that the touch sensitive feature isn't as responsive as I would like. The idea is that just like a piano if you push a key hard it plays loud, and if you push it softly it plays quietly. I don't have experience with other keyboards, but when I play on a real piano at my lesson, it is so much easier to play quietly or loudly when I want to. I am definitely glad that I got the one with touch sensitive keys rather than a cheaper one, but I don't know if other keyboards might have better control.
- This was a gift for our grandson's 16th birthday. By all reports from him, it is an excellent purchase.

5 comments about M-Audio O2 Mobile USB MIDI Controller.
- Basically, the O2 comes with very few instructions, and you have to go on the internet to find any manuals and so on. Even with the online help, it is very confusing and I have not been able to get it to work at all. The instructions you do get assume that you have used other MIDI devices in the past and so that just getting a hint written in computer jargon is enough.
- This very-easy-to-use MIDI controller plugs into the USB port, that's it, that's all you have to do. You get a great touch-sensitive keyboard with weighted keys and tons of assignable MIDI parameters. An extensive manual ships with it (on CD-ROM) along with a half-size "quick start" guide. Now I'll admit I haven't figured out all of the MIDI programmable features yet, but only because I've been having so much fun playing with the basic plug-and-play keyboard. This thing rocks!!!
- The title says it all. It works great and is inexpensive. Small and light makes for really easy portability.
- ordered this from midway, assured it was in stock-received package-not even the same product-they dont even carry what I ordered-NOT THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED. Contacted amazon-two weeks later still on the site.DO NOT ORDER !!!!
- I ordered this expecting a usb midi KEYBOARD. What I got was a Mic PreAmp. This is false advertisement. I ordered this because of the image up there is a KEYBOARD not a box with knobs and plug ins for for a microphone. WTF. I'm returning this and expect a full refund.

1 comments about Evolution UC-33e Desktop MIDI Control Workstation.
- I have the older model named Evolution UC-33 (not UC-33e). I bought it used at a music shop, and payed it 100 euros (approximately 115 USD)
I needed a portable control surface with many knobs and slider, and this does have a lot of them, 33 controllers (9 sliders and 24 knobs). The controller is a bit thick for my taste, I would prefer a thinner box, for portability, but I cannot complain: it is worth all the money I paied.
The quality of the sliders is very good: they are big and reliable.
The quality of the knobs is also good, but not at the level of the sliders.
Summing up, it is a very good product, I recommend it.
