  1. I Ordered 3 guitars at the same time for my 3 kids 4 christmas.(Black,Pink, and Blue)They all said they where austin bazaar guitars.I got the Black, and Blue guitars 1st. They where not austin bizaars they where glen burton guitars.the pink one was austin bazaar.only 1 amp out of the 3 doesn't have a hum 2 it.My 9year old Son was playing his blue guitar and the strap broke and the guitar came down on his arm and hurt him.He was standing up at the time. This was the first time he played it.All 3 guitar straps broke. The pink guitar did not have the cable that gos to the amp.Austin bazaar said they would send it free of charge and they did not. Both the Glen Burtons guitars where shipped with padding to keep them from getting damaged. The pink one had nothing to keep it from being broke. It is a defect it's suppose to be all pink and it has orange where the neck is and the strings can not be adjusted right.I would not reccomend getting anything from austin bizaar!Over all I was very dissapointed!

  1. i bought this guitar back in january this year and i still play it every day the neck plays fast with medium action and it has great soundind pickups the guitar looks great but it gets small dents and scratches super easily beacause of the really soft mohogany body. but thats great if you want your guitar to eventually look like a truly loved and played instument not just a looker P.S.. if your cry over scratches this is not your guitar

  2. Exactly one month TO THE DAY after I bought this SG, the headstock fractured like it'd been hit with a sledgehammer. I cried like the day I was born. Upon emailing Gibson's customer support department, I found out that if you have purchased your Gibson product from the U.S. via an authorized dealer, there is a lifetime repair/replacement warranty on all Gibson items.

I also did some research and discovered that Gibson headstocks break with little to no encouragement. They're just poorly designed, because they're set at a 17-degree downward angle, which isn't helpful to the woodgrain, thus greatly weakening the headstock. They're usually a very easy fix, and they break very cleanly. After first repairs, people usually never have another problem.

Despite the inherent flaw in the headstock, it's a brilliant guitar, even if you have to baby it more than you'd ever have to baby a Fender or Squier instrument. You can use the tapping method a lot easier than any Fender (shorter scale length of 24.75") and the two volume+two tone controls plus 3-way toggle switch make for incredible versatility. Jangle pop, rock, metal, country rhythm, blues, jazz, and swing are all possible with this guitar.

A major playability merit that sticks out to me is the fact that no matter whether you're playing rhythm or lead, this guitar WILL accomodate you. The neck and the razor-thin action are perfect for chording, soloing, tapping... whatever you can think up, this guitar will let you put it through the numbers (assuming you're half as good as this guitar is, heh).

  1. My 9 yr old got the guitar for Christmas and the only thing I would change is add a case and beef up the amp a little. Our box was missing the DC 9V plug for the amp, but we had one that fit, so it worked out. I am calling the 800 # today to request the missing part. The guitar itself has a nice look and sound for a beginner guitar. It came with picks, strap, whammy bar, and extra strings. My daughter is absolutely thrilled. Overall a good value.

  1. I received my player pack about a week ago. Everything was included in the pack and "seemed" great. I got the Sunburst pattern and the guitar looks really nice. The amp and the rest of the gear was all good for the price. The problem was that when I tuned the guitar I had to raise the bridge way too much to get rid of some buzzing from the fret bars. Even after that I still got the buzzing when I played vigorously. Also I could feel the edges of the fret bars on the neck which I think means that the wood of the neck had shrunk and probably warped a little (sitting in a warehouse too long maybe). I chose to repair these issues instead of returning the guitar. I like it very much and I doubt that getting another pack at the same price point would get me any more quality. If my experience was not the norm then I would give this pack a 4 or 5.
    **UPDATE
The warped neck was unrepairable by the epiphone dealer in my area. They sent it back (warranty) and I got a NEW Epiphone "Dot Studio" as a replacement because it would have been 90 day till they could replace it with a similar model. I really like the "Dot Studio" and it is a nice upgrade. So I got a really nice deal in the end.

  2. I bought this exact guitar when I was 12 years old, now at 23, it still works and is in great condition. This guitar is wonderful to start learning on, especially if later on you plan on playing an authentic Gibson Les Paul, which is is nearly double the weight. This guitar has a slightly smaller scale which is better when you are starting off, and all Gibsons, as well as Epiphones have heads that are angled slightly at 45 degrees from the neck which is better for sustain. The neck is slim and easy to wrap your fingers around, even if you have short fingers. You'll find that compared to Fender Stratocasters and Telecasters, the Ephiphone's neck will make you feel as if your fingers are sliding on water. The strings are closer together than the other guitars such as the Parker Fly or the Fender Strat, and that makes it good for not only chords, bar chords, and the like, but also good for solos. Whether you are sitting or standing, the body is comfortably shaped. All in all, it is worth the cost.
The only thing wrong with this guitar that most people will eventually notice, and have problems with, is the infamous 5th fret buzz. It does not go away. It the guitar's only defect. But if you are jamming a lot for hours on end (like I have) you probably won't even notice.
If you are trying to decide Fender Stratocaster (a very popular beginners guitar), vs. Ephiphone Les Paul Special II, go with the Les Paul. It is much easier to play if you can get past the fret buzz, and its dual humbucker pickups will give you a nice round, full, tone. Of course, if you can afford an investment such as the Gibson version, then why not go for that ;o)

  3. We bought this for a beginner and soon discovered it was almost nonplayable because of flaws in the heads and nut.We didn't expect this to be "set-up" but it is preety much impossible to tune which for anyone is very discouraging. Too bad Epiphone lets the Chinese downgrade what used to be a good model.

  1. I got this guitar a week ago, and of course it's no gibson sg, it is the closest you'll come to it though, the price is very reasonable, the guitar is playable out of the box, even has a short cable, buy this guitar or you'll be kicking yourself later.

  1. This is a good guitar for begginers to brag "I have a Les Paul".
The Les Paul is the most prized guitar out there and a strat as they are the two "Classic" guitars out there.

This guitar has pick ups...Les pauls sound much better with humbuckers a warmer tone.Although pick ups are fine. The Color variation lacks compared to a real les paul.

What do i mean real les paul.Yep,this is not a real les paul in terms.Epiphone is a lower branch of Gibson the creators of the treasurly les paul.Hey a real one is in its thousands so if you don't wanna shell out alot of money buy an epiphone les paul.It doesn't mean epiphone lacks class as there guitars are good standard guitars. This is a les paul junior keep in mind the frets are smaller and action is lessoned for big hand people.AKA sasuge fingers.

The neck for the most part is nice for the price paid and the tone is nice.Begginers will love this and experts will despise this.

  2. Lee Hazelwood said it best, "I'd rather be your enemy, than hear you call me friend" Musicians Friend has blatantly falsified what comes with this beginner guitar kit. Amazon should screen their shady cohorts more.

  3. sure this guitar looks cool but it isnt that good to play i do not recomand this to kids or adults of any age if you are just a colector and do not play this would be a very good guitar

  4. The Epiphone Les Paul Jr. is a strange little guitar. I've seen and played these things quite a bit. In the hands of an experienced luthier, or at least someone who knows how to set up a guitar, these can become a fantastic playing guitar. On show floors, I've picked these things up (straight out of the box) and experienced a wide variety of playability from the guitar.

Other things to consider as well, is that this is a 100 dollar pack that includes an amp, the guitar is most definately not going to have been meticulously set up and won't be made out of AAA maple and Swamp Ash, you'd be lucky if the neck were real maple and the body wasn't a chip-board material, which Epiphone does deliver. The neck is rock-maple with an indonesian rosewood fretboard and an agathis body, a standard affair on higher end budget guitars. This actually makes the guitar sound rather good acoustically.

Also, think about the electronics, it is a $100 guitar. If you consider how much a nice humbucking pickup usually costs (between $60-120), just having a pickup at all is nice.

But, for a beginner, this guitar is a pretty good choice. You don't need a mahagony body with a AAA maple neck with a north american rosewood fretboard and 1957 P.A.F. reissue pickups when you don't know the differance between the pickups and the knobs.

  5. VERY NICE GUITAR, YOU DO HAVE TO PUT NEW STRINGS ON , THE ONES IT CAME WITH BUZZED, CHEAP STRINGS. I WAX IT UP BOY IT LOOKS LIKE A HIGH END GUITAR. I HAVE BACK TROUBLES AND MY OTHER GUITARS HAVE SOME WEIGHT TO THEM, THIS GUITAR IS JUST RIGHT I,LL USE IT MORE FOR A ROOM GUITAR AMP IS NICE FOR THE MONEY GOOD FOR SMALL ROOM. STRAP IS LOW END PUT WILL GET YOU STARTED, THE TUNER WELL GET ANOTHER ONE. GIG BAG IS VERY TIGHT, IT JUST FITS NO KIDDING SO YOU MIGHT WHAT TO GET ANOTHER. I GAVE IT 5 STARS FOR WHAT 99.00 GETS YOU A REALLY NICE GUITAR NOT THE BEST BUT NICE IT SOUNDS GREAT IT.S EASY TO USE NICE FOR ROOM OR GIG, BUT IF YOU GET AS GOOD AS GEORGE HARRISON YOU MIGHT CHANGE UP TO A TOP OF THE LINE LP.
