  1. I bought this guitar for my 9 year old son. It is a good guitar for a younger person who is not sure if they are serious about it. It is not a high quality but you are not paying for high quality. It is well made though and should last for as long as you need it to.

  2. This this is awesome. They had everything I needed to set up the guitar, connect it to the amp, tune it and start jamming! Its great for the garage jamming session. I love the glossy black color; looks great. Produces a vibrant sound. It comes with a 10 Watt amp. The amp is small but has good output. Loud enough to annoy the neighbors:-). I recommend it. Thums up!

  3. My son who is 14 seems to like the thing, but I find that the amplifier buzzes annoyingly.

  4. To be frank, this guitar is perfect for those wanting to start learning how to play. It ships very quickly, much quicker than I expected, it sounds great, and the amp is quite powerful for it's small size.

For the advanced guitar players though, you might want to buy a better quality guitar, as there's not a lot you can do with this one but learn and feel like you're a professional, even when you're not.

5/5 stars, quick to ship, great quality for the price.

  1. nice guitar. action is nice. i have experiecned no problems. seriously impressed. me and frend jam with this!

  2. This guitar, when looked at from a technological point of view on produced sound, is ideal for a 'custom' metal sound. People say that the maple assists to the production of a ligther, thinner sound. The rosewood has no actual change to the sound. The humbuckers are more preferred to a coil, because it is responsible for a thicker sound. This combination is ideal if you belong to the metal, preferably death metal, genre.

  3. Great action, heavy sound light guitar...I've played Gibsons and this one is truly an Epiphone for someone seeking quality and value at a fraction of the Gibson price.

  4. Marvellous sound, true metal, perfect tone, superfast neck and a great quality of workmanship. nearly as good as a Gibson SG.

  5. WHOEVER SAID THIS THING IS GOOD FOR METAL HAD IT NAILED, BUT IT'S ALSO GREAT FOR BLUES AND HARD ROCK. THE SOUND IS AMAZING PLUGGED OR UNPLUGGED, THE BOARD IS EASY TO SLIDE ALL OVER AND THE BODY. IT'S LIGHT AND FOR A LEFTY PLAYING A RIGHTY THE STRAP KNOBS ARE PLACED PERFECTLY (ONE ON THE BACK, ONE ON THE BOTTOM.) BUY THIS THING YOU'LL REGRET IT IF YOU DON'T.I WAS GOING TO BUY THE SG-400 GOTH SERIES, BUT THEN I SAW THIS.

  1. This has everything yo need to get started playing. Very good quality and price. Yes, it does come with an amp, I was not sure, it has one pictured but doesn't mention it in the discription. I recommend this for a starter guitar or for someone who enjoys playing but doesn't want to spend a fortune.

  2. I purchased the Behringer electric guitar package for my 11 year old son's birthday. The first guitar arrived defective. The fret bars extend (just slightly) from the edges of the fret board causing my son's had to be cut when playing. I had a musician look at the guitar to verify that the guitar was in fact defective. I returned the guitar and all of it's accessories to the Target store. I oredered another guitar package thinking, "What are the chances two guitars would be defective?" The second guitar arrived....SAME PROBLEM! My son and I were very dissappointed. I have purchased many things from Amazon.com and have always been please. Sadly enough, that was not the case with this guitar. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone. Additionally, it is a safety hazzard for children and Behringer should take it off the marked until the problem is resolved.

  3. I got this guitar in March, 2007 and I recently traded it in on February 18th, 2008 to get money towards another, better, more expensive Electric Guitar. I'm not complaining about this, considering it's PERFECT for a beginner. It's cheap for electric guitar standards and comes with the bare necessities, including a small amplifier with the basic volume, gain, treble, middle volume, and bass volume knobs, and an input and low audio jack.

I bought each seperately so I can only guess that this includes audio cables, but i would say that it does. If not you can purchase one from anywhere to online, your local music store, or the Wal-Mart, a basic new one being maybe $15 at the most.

  4. For a begginer i would suggest buying this guitar pack.
It comes with a small amp, a guitar strap, 3 picks, and the guitar itself is beautiful. i bought this a few months ago and i haven't stopped playing it [:

  5. Ok, I know this is a cheap guitar, so when I purchased it, I wasn't expecting a good quality instrument. However, I was in fact expecting a beginner guitar that works and sounds somewhat decent.
So, I received the guitar, plugged it, and no sound is coming out of the amp! After several checks, I found out that the cable was the problem, so I went out and bought a new one!
Now I have the sound, so I started to tune it up and had the second surprise: Some of the strings do not give the correct sounds. For instance, when I tune the first string to E and then press on the first fret to get an F sound, I get something between F and F#! I don't know if it's the frets or the strings. I gave up for the time being and the guitar has been sitting at the corner of my room.
Spend $50-100 more and buy a guitar that works. This guitar has no value whatsoever.

  1. Since day one...this guitar will not stay in tune. We sent it out for a professional set up...which you shouldn't have to do on a beginner guitar, and was told there is no hope for this thing. The frets are sharp, and will slice your fingers. Shame on Fender. I can tell you the next level guitar will not be a Fender-they have no pride in what they sell under their name brand. There are other companies that make a far better starter guitar kit....stay away from this one.

  2. ok if you honestly thought you would be able to buy a real fender strat for $200 bucks the you were completely wrong..This guitar is a Squire which is like a cheap brand that Fender own. You can pick up a squire at wallmart or target. A real American made Fender Stratocaster will cost you over a thousand dollars and you will have trouble finding them in most guitar stores. please dont even bother with this thing it is a worthless piece of junk. save up some money if your a beginner buy a samick guitar which is around the same price but is much better. Samick sells guitar parts to companys like gibson and fender and they are great if your a beginner. Anyway the point is this guiat sucks dont get it!

  3. Fender's newer, entry level Starcasters are an excellent choice for beginners. Well made with good features at a reasonable price. Don't be mislead by biased reviewers who most likely own small guitar shops and want you to spend 3 or 4 times the cost at their business. This guitar is a fine pick. A+!

  4. Do get this from Sams, much cheaper. This is a great deal for the price and the quality is fantastic. I would recommend reading the wikipedia article on the Starcaster by Fender to better understand the type of guitar you are looking at.

  5. I have this guitar pack and I have to say that the number of negative comments is amazing. I am not sure what people expect for $200.00. No! This is not a $1200.00 dollar American made strat, nor is the $500.00 Mexican made strat. It's a low cost made in China strat.

Regardless of where it was made, I found the workmanship to be very acceptable. The guitar is beautiful and the rosewood fretboard is very nice. The whole guitar has a solid feel. My only real complaint is that the center pickup has an unusually low level output. But there is no way I would return this guitar just because of a single pickup. At worst case I'd just have Fender send a replacement. And Yes! As other reviews have noted, the amp hums a little (especially at higher volumes). But, this has more to with the single coil pickups used in the guitar. If you want humbucker pickups, you're going to pay more. Also the amp is just a small 10W practice amp. It works fine for lower volume practicing. I have fallen in love with mine and play it quietly in the evenings to relax from the world.

I have a family and very little extra money. I am greatful that Fender has provided these low cost kits. It gives me the opportunity to own and relax with a Fender, something that would be questionable with a better (read more expensive) guitar. And, if the kids develop an interest, I won't cry too much if they add a few scratches to it.

Folks need to keep things in perspective. This is a low cost entry level guitar. Understanding those limitations, I highly recommend this kit to anyone just starting out.

  1. Excelente sonido, no pesa casi nada, esteticamente perfecta!, no dudaria en comprarme otro modelo de epiphone, solo fue un poco dificil el envio hasta mi pais pero 100% recomendada.

  2. not bad def for the price. the action is great it can be a bit muddy but all in all a clean sound with a clasic look i would have to say you should def buy one

  3. This guitar is the best guitar ever! It is a sweet guitar! It feels, soundS and looks like a real les paul. It is a great investment! I have played a lot of real les pauls and other guitars and this is the best! I even have my own little Squire Strat which is a good guitar, but I think this is the best guitar on earth!!!!!!!!!! I would definately buy this guitar if I were you!!! But I got mine from a store, so I think you should go and try some out. I got mine for around $400 and it is sweet! I played it for 12 hours straight after I got it, plus a ton during the rest of the week and it hardly went out of tune. It has great sound and sustain and as someone said in one review for another guitar, I have to look down to make sure it is me playing it because it sounds so good!!!!! I LOVE THIS GUITAR! IT ROCKS AND IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Now while I can't say that this is just as good as a Gibson its close enough. Bought this guitar from American Musical Supply for $319.99 (with free shipping) and for the price it is not bad at all. I ordered it on Sunday night arrived Wednesday playable right out of the box!!!

    Looks

Its truly beautiful not as detailed as Gibson but who cares. I got the ebony with chrome hardware the picture does not do this guitar justice. I swear it looks three times as good as it does in the picture.

    Sound

For a guitar of this price the pickups are great. On a clean channel the neck/rhythm pickup provides a nice thick rich warm bluesy tone with sustain that seems to last forever! While the bridge/treble pickup provides a bright perfect tone. When mixed with my Big Muff Pi & Boss DS-2
Turbo Distortion pedals (both are a great buy) it provides deep smooth rhythms and ear scorching leads.

    Durability

The guitar it self is very well made and can take quite a beating.
My only gripe so far is it goes out of tune with the original strings. So I swapped them out for a new set haven't had a problem since.

    Overall

If your looking for a cheap alternative to a $2000-3000 Gibson Les Paul without sacrificing sound or durability this is by far your best bet. If something ever happened to it without a thought I'd replace it in a second.

  5. This is my first real guitar. I had an older Epiphone acoustic and the action was punishing, making it difficult for me to learn. I decided to get an electric and did my research here on Amazon. I am so glad that I bought this guitar. It sounds beautiful, and really motivates me to play and learn more. My fingers are throbbing right now, and I love it!! I would have to chime in and say that the original strings (which I still have on it) tend to get slightly out of tune after hammering away for a couple of hours. I plan to restringing it this weekend. I LOVE this guitar!!!

  1. when i received this product i was very upset. the fret lines were so long they cut my fingers the neck was warped and the guitar was virtually unplayable. i sent it back! i would NOT recomend this product to anyone!

  2. I ordered the Austin Bazaar Double Cutaway Metallic Blue Electric guitar kit on December 27th 2007, and on Jan 5th, 2008, I got a plain deep blue guitar with a red amp. After contacting this company, they stated that they would replace the guitar with the one I originally ordered, but that they would not replace the amp for a color change. After waiting two weeks to receive a Fed Ex prepaid return shipping label from Austin Bazaar, I shipped the guitar back to them. It was delivered to them on Jan 31, 2008, and as of today, Feb 7, 2008, I still have no guitar. My A to Z guarantee with Amazon was denied. So here I sit with a Visa bill to the tune of $159.63 with nothing but an amplifier in my possession. Can't make very good music with the likes of this, I am afraid. Please order your guitar products from someone OTHER than Austin Bazaar.

  3. Package included gig bag, adjustable shoulder strap, 3/4 guitar, amp cord, 10 Watt monitor, 3 large picks, tremolo bar, spare strings and two hex keys, and a pitch pipe. I also ordered a GA-30 guitar tuner, which is not part of the basic package.

What I know about guitars you could put in one book without taking the matches out first, but everything is brand new and arrived in good shape. The packaging was adequate; the cardboard box the guitar came in was slightly torn, but the guitar itself was fine inside two layers of sheet foam and the gig bag. The monitor and amp cord came in a separate box, though everything came in one shipment (the tuner was also in the guitar box). Shipping only took three days, as promised.

There are some minor cosmetic scratches on the white plastic frontispiece, but I really do mean minor - you have get right up on it to even notice them. Other than that there were no dings or anything. The guitar seems very solidly put together to me, everything firmly seated with no gaps or warps. It's a bit heavier than I had expected, but that's what the shoulder strap is for I suppose. All the screws are firmly in place and do not show overdriving damage. The potentiometer knobs on the guitar are slightly raised rather than flush against the face (presumably to avoid sticking), seem solidly attached and operate smoothly. The tuning keys are neither too tight to turn easily nor too loose to hold the strings taut. The amplifier cord seats nicely and solidly into the recessed input jack.

The monitor is built to a similarly high standard, with all screws well seated and undamaged, etc. The power switch and drive button have nice positive actions, while the volume, bass and treble potentiometers rotate smoothly without any side play. The amplifier cord seated just as well into the monitor's input jack as into the guitar's, and once I'd found a large size headphone plug it turned out the headphone jack is equally good. The monitor is surprisingly slim and light and has a built-in carrying handle on top. A wire stand folds out from the back if you want it to lean upward rather than sit level; when folded in it has a spring-type retainer.

I tested that the guitar tuner recognized the notes from the pitch pipe, then I used the tuner to tune the guitar; all the strings came in with only minor adjustments. After an hour or so of noodling around (i.e. actively plucking and strumming) to test the various volume and tone controls I re-checked the tuning with the meter and it had held just fine, all strings still right in the sweet spot. After another hour and a half of the guitar sitting neglected while I did laundry (my son is the future rock star, I'm going to be his roadie) a couple had drifted just slightly off the perfect mark but they were all still good notes according to the meter.

All the switches and pots on the guitar and monitor work smoothly, varying what they are supposed to vary continuously with no dead spots. The effect of the two tone pots on the guitar was a little bit subtle to my ear, but I don't know how much effect they normally have. The volume range from the guitar knob was wide enough to be useful. The monitor puts out a good amplitude, especially with the drive button depressed (though it only goes to 10 ;) . Not to worry, the headphone jack also works! The equivalent volume in a pair of headphones is quite a bit louder, so when switching from open-air to quiet practice the player should be sure to start with the volume turned down to avoid overdriven eardrums.

Overall I'm pleased with the quality of the package, especially given the very reasonable price. I'm not a musician but it sounded good to my audience-level ear and so should be quite adequate for a beginner's starter instrument. The shoulder strap is a bit cheap and flimsy but other than that everything seems solid enough.

  4. Hey, I just wanted to let everyone know when I got my set, she was beautiful. The picutre on the website dosen't do it justice. Its actually the light blue but its flecked making it stunning. Granted I'm just starting myself by my roomate has been playing for a few years and mentioned the 10 watt amp put out plently of power. Also we saw the slot for the wammy bar on the pic but when it came it actually included it. Amp is great, guitar is stunning, impressed my roommate.

Definately would be willing to buy from Austin Bazaar in the future!
    (plucks burt's "E")

  5. We bought this as a gift for our goddaughter. We think it is a great starter guitar.
