3 comments about Sight Reading for the Classical Guitar, Level IV-V".
- item arrived as promised, before last shipping date and exactly in condition promised
- This is a the great second sight reading book of a 2 book series. I highly recomend as you learn musicality whilst learning to sight read. You learn the different playing positions.
- I teach classical guitar and have found this book to be one of those "rare jewels" I sometimes am fortunate to come upon. This has to be one of the best books for understanding how to read classical guitar music notation, learning how to play up the neck in higher positions, phrasing, familiar and less frequently used tempo terms such as "Placidamente" (peacefully), and "Giocoso" (playfully). It also contains some excellent rhythm exercises and much, much more. It does not begin at the beginner's level but starts off on the very first page with intervals of a tenth, chord reading, and rhythmic reading in two voices. Every page is absolutely loaded with useful information and exercises that will make you slow down and really think about what you are doing and why. I cannot say enough good things about this book and it holds a very cherished place among my many other music books. I use it frequently to the point that many of the pages are now a bit worn-looking, but if you want to really become not just a good guitarist, but a great one, this book will definitely help you advance to those higher levels of musicality most guitarists never go.

5 comments about A Modern Approach to Classical Guitar - Composite (Books 1, 2 and 3)(book & 3 CD'S).
- I have collected many classical guitar method books over the years -- Noad, Shearer and Parkening among them -- and Duncan's books always rank among the very best, in my opinion. His advice is well thought-out, well-presented and well-written. The serious student of classical guitar would do well to look at this and other of Duncan's books.
- I bought this book ten years ago, with a flexible plastic LP album stuck into it, and am buying it again just to get the CD.
You can't go wrong with Mr. Duncan's pedagogy. It's the best method I've found to learn to read music while also learning to play classical guitar. If you can read keyboard music but still haven't been able to make the transition to reading guitar music from the staff, pick up this wonderful set.
- The book itself is a good introduction to classical guitar for beginning players like myself. The lessons are easy to follow, with pieces that (for me) are challenging enough to hold my interest without being so difficult as to frustrate me. From a total beginner's perspective, the book alone is worth the price, and deserves a solid 4 to 5 star rating.
The CDs are another story. Having the CDs with the teacher accompaniment pieces available is a nice boon for those like myself who are trying to learn classical guitar on a budget. I'm keeping the lessons to a minimum, so being able to play along with the CDs is a great feature. My major complaint is with the audio quality. I understand and appreciate that this series of books was released long before compact disc technology was available--it used to come with one of those flexible plastic "records" attached to it. If you've ever heard one of those, you know the audio quality is poor. I had hoped that the CD edition would either feature re-recordings of the original pieces, or at least be re-mastered from the original master tapes. Sadly, the CDs are simply a recording of the plastic records themselves, complete with dust pops and all the other audio artifacts associated with a low quality pressing. I don't think they even tried to clean it up digitally (or if they did, it was not done by someone competent).
Needless to say, the audio quality was a huge disappointment for me. Perhaps I've been spoiled with the advent of digital recordings, but even my old vinyl sounds a heck of a lot better than these poor CDs do. They, and not the material in the book, are what bring the rating down for me.
- Duncan's method, in my opinion, is the best out of the many books I have examined, and/or purchased. The quality of the CD's is more than acceptable; I was not looking for concert audio quality, they do the job.
I am quite pleased with my progress, his instructions are easy to understand, and follow.
- Charles Duncan has compiled a very thorough and interesting method for serious beginner and intermediate level classical guitarists. I addition to the standard literature you would expect, Mr. Duncan has written numerous pieces for this book. His skill for combining jazz, latin and other genres as one progresses along, make this a delightful taste of something totally unexpected in a classical method book. If you like a challenge, but are bored with the same old thing you've played before, check out Duncan's material. You won't be disappointed.

4 comments about Taylor Swift (Piano/Vocal/Guitar).
- My youngest daughter loves Taylor Swift and her songs, and this book has renewed her interest in practicing the piano. What more could a mother hope for? Not only does it have the complete piano arrangement, but it also has all the guitar cords, too.
- This is an excellent book for the many fans of Taylor Swift. The notes are easily readable for the advanced and the beginner pianist.
- IF you want to learn how to play Taylor Swift music then this book is great..moderate playing level was perfect! (good for beginners as well)
- The piano perfectly matches up with the tune, the vocals are 100% accurate. I don't know about the guitar part, but I can imagine that is correct as well. If your looking to play the TUNE of the song, this is a great book, The piano is can be a little tricky with timing at times, but once you get the main beat of the song, it's a real fun book to play!

4 comments about The Francisco Tarrega Collection: Book/CD Pack.
- This is a wonderful collection of the greatest classical style composer of our time. Paul Henry continues his excellence in teaching aids. My only complaint is that tablature is included and for me it clutters up the score. But, for others the tablature may be helpful. Thank you Paul Henry!
- Before I bought this volume, I knew some of Tarrega's easier pieces, like Lagrima, a pretty piece, apropriate for my level. When I got this collection I realized that the rest of his work is significantly harder.
I have to choose a number of stars, and for mee it is more like 2-3 stars, but for those who possess the required skill, this is an 5-star collection of beautiful pieces for guitar. But I have not been able to learn much of it.
- I have great admiration and love of the work of Tárrega, and this is a great collection, but there are actually two very similar collections available here at Amazon. So which one should you grab? I actually decided on this one due to its inclusion of Malagueña, although it wasn't actually written by Tárrega, but Lecuona, the Cuban composer of Siboney.
It is no fault of the Author, as Malagueña has been falsely attributed to many of Spain's great composers. It is just that good and has been covered by everyone: Andrés Segovia, Paco de Lucia, Chet Atkins, Xavier Cugat, Richie Valens, Liberace, etc.
- This is a great book. Tarrega was one of the most important Spanish composers and his work is very important to be familiar with. The only complaint I could make is that this is not really a book for beginners and therefore should not have tablature included. Otherwise it's nicely edited and fingered.

5 comments about Progressive Classical Guitar Method: For Beginner to Intermediate Students [Book 1].
- Excellent!
In 3 words: Concise, logical, correct!
- I've been playing the guitar for about a year on a steel string string acoustic when I decided to start playing classical so I bought a classical nylon guitar along with this method book from progressive.I had other progressive series books and primer but for the classical guitar this was the best. This book has about a hundred pages or so of quality lessons and excercises. The book is all musical notations and fingerstyle lessons. It doesn't contain any TAB lines. It also contains a fretboard guitar notes diagram and a music glossary at the end of the book.If you have a passion to learn classical guitar this is the book for you.
- This is THEE best beginning classical guitar book I have found. I'm so excited to be 1/2 way through and can't wait to go on to the next book. Thank you Jason Waldron (author), you have opened the doors to beginners like me!
- I highly recommend this book. I purchased a lot of the wrong books for learning fingerstyle and other methods. This book takes you from beginner and beyond. I'm not a rank beginner but this covered all the basics quickly and clearly to impart an excellent review. The charming and progressively challenging etudes was what I was looking for to develop my skills for playing brazilian jazz. I like this book so much, I plan on purchasing the next level book. An excellent book.
- I love this book. I have been playing guitar for ten years and recently decided to learn classical. This book starts you out at a snail's pace, but by taking it slow, I was able to sight-read music in only three weeks. The approach is slow and easy, but effective, with a lot of great examples with multiple parts for the more advanced player that seem very simple at first glance, but end up challenging your brain and fingers. Great first classical guitar book.

5 comments about The Beatles for Classical Guitar.
- This book features some great arrangements of classic Beatles songs. All the songs are written for the advanced player, though a beginner can at least pick out the melodies. Some arrangments have as many as three parts with lots of long position changes, but the good news is that you probably already know the tunes, so this makes picking through the songs much easier. I would have given the product five stars if it had come with a CD featuring the songs as arranged, so that for the songs I don't know as well or for the more complex arrangements I could hear what it was supposed to sound like, but otherwise, this book will give you hours of enjoyable study and some hand-clapping, smiling audience members once you master these great songs.
- Received this book yesterday. After seeing the review about no TAB, was a bit concerned that I was actually going to have to read music again, which while a bit painful at times, would have been OK.
Yes, there is TAB in the book I received and it's a very nice book. I am perhaps an intermediate guitar player (can do quite a few things, but not exceedingly well) and I think given a bit of time well be playing most of these without much trouble. Some are surpisingly simple, yet very nice sounding. Don't be scared off, it's not a Chet Atkins type book.
Glad I got it. Will be a lot of fun. Should be a good one for even more experienced beginners. If you can do basic chord shapes and alternate fingers and thumb on your right hand (if right handed) you'll enjoy.
Terry
- When I ordered this book, I thought that it was tablature. When it got here, I found out that I was wrong. I can't read sheet music. This book sucks because I am stupid and ignorant.
- I am a big fan of The Beatles and acoustic fingerstyle guitar. This book should be one of my dream books. It has h 30 songs, musical note staff and guitar tab. However, in my own opinion all music book should have CD companion and tempo number. This book doesn't have ones. For skill level wise this is for intermediate.
- My 12 year old son is learning these songs with his classical guitar teacher. She also bought a copy since she enjoyed it as well.

4 comments about Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus (Piano/Vocal/Guitar) (Piano/Vocal/Guitar Songbook).
- Decent product, good for a young person who is both interested in Hannah Montana and learning how to read music. Book contains lyrics, tabulature, and written music for Piano/Vocal/Guitar parts of the songs on her Hannah Montanna 2/Meet Miley Cyrus 2 Disc set.
- I think this book is a great book for my daughter just starting the guitar! Keep up the great work on the song books! Also, maybe you should make song books, but titles like for beginners and starters! Thanks!
- I am very happy with this product. I can play all the songs while my friends sing along. All these pages are worth the price. This book is a lot of fun! Thank you Amazon!
- My daughter and her guitar teacher use the book weekly. They seem very pleased with the purchase

1 comments about Spanish for Guitar: Easy to Intermediate Solos by the Spanish Masters (Masters in Tab).
- This book exceeded my expectations. I didn't think for under $8.00 I would get much but always liked spanish music. The arangements are voiced great and sound good. The book is 9" by 12" , has 13 full songs and is easy to read the tabature. Explains very well everything about the tabs.

5 comments about 120 Studies for Right Hand Development (Classical Guitar Study Series).
- Desent book, good dificulty progression. This is the type of book that every classical guitar player should own.
- This full complement of these classic right hand exercises is found in Scott Tennant's "Pumping Nylon", which also provides an appropriate context in which to use Giuliani's studies...
- I discovered these studies not too long ago, having started
leaning classical guitar,(I was a rock guitar plalyer), and
these studies really, really helped me to start understanding
right hand classical guitar technique.
- This book is an excellent primer for fingerstyle guitar, if you intend to learn either classical or folk styles. The exercises progress in order of difficulty, and through systematic work through each one you will begin to see a lot of progress rather quickly. The important thing is to practice in a disciplined way, a little bit each day. I highly recommend this as the starting point for anybody interested in learning to finger-pick.
- The exercises might look simplistic, but steady practice with these studies produces amazing results. Great book.
