   HOWEVER, it is listed here between $3000-$4000 TOO HIGH! Look elsewhere if interested. You will not be dissapointed with the bassoon.

1. Shop around. I acquired mine used for about half the list price. The instrument plays beautifully. Very noticeable difference in sound after playing a student model for any amount of time. The rollers around the pancake key will spoil you, making low passages easier to play quickly and help with technical difficulties in fingerings. Overall, I believe it was worth the second mortgage it took to buy it.

1. I got this bassoon as my high school graduation present. I used it in college and in various groups ever since. I have owned the instrument for eight years now and it still works as great as it did right out of the box.
   
   This one is considered a student model, but it plays just as well as the professional models. The tone is very clear and has great resonation.
   
   It includes a seat strap, some wire cleaners, a hand rest and two bocals.
   
   Anyone who is interested in learning bassoon or continuing to play should get this one. Fox is the best brand available and the Renard line is the best quality and price.
