- I purchased this guitar for my young sons taking lessons but this guitar is just as playable for an adult as for a child. Their guitar teacher was very impressed by the sound and construction of the guitar and the kit bag was actually a pretty good little bag.

- I didn't really get any more than I expected from this guitar. First the bad. As others may have stated, the finish is not glossy like the picture and it has a pick guard, also not in the picture, but is OK. I had to change the strings as they were somewhat corroded. There were several minor finish flaws and there is a shadow of some poorly cleaned off glue or something that shows on the spruce top when held up to the light just right. Most people will never see most of these flaws as they are felt more than seen. Would have been nice to have a strap button by the neck. I use a leather thong at the headstock but will install a button on the body soon.
Now the good. The action on this guitar is medium to medium/low. The intonation is great for such a cheap guitar. It stays in tune pretty well. This is a good first guitar and I'm happy with it over all. I've banged into a doorway with it and chipped the paint... off the doorway. The guitar was fine.
I got Jasmine for a play anywhere anytime guitar and it's been great for that. My baby grabs and smacks it around and the semigloss finish hides his handprints. I don't really care. Someday it'll be his.
- I'm learning guitar on my own right now. This was my first guitar that I've bought myself and I have to say that I'm quite satisfied.
The people that have tried out the guitar have all given compliments about how nice it is.
The intonation is nothing to complain about.
One thing that should be noted is that the action is slightly higher than normal and it takes some getting used to; once you get used to it, it's alright.
And one final note, I purchased this guitar directly from the Musician's Friend website where I got free shipping.
- This is my second Tak, and I am pleased to find that, despite the low price, it has that same Takamine quality to it. I have found none of the problems noted in other comments: I like the pick guard, which is clearly depicted in the catalog photo; the action does not seem all that high for an inexpensive guitar; the strings were in good shape; there were no noticeable finish problems. I bought it for knocking around -- beach, pool parties, etc -- not for serious performance work. This would have been a decent buy at $200 (I paid about $200 for my first guitar in 1977!); at $100 it is a very good bargain. The only criticism I have is that it arrived more than 10 days past the estimated delivery date. That's OK. A guitar this good and inexpensive is worth the wait.
- Although like many of my generation, I had wanted to learn to play guitar as a teenager, but I never realized that dream. Now as an 54 year old, I'm going to give it a try.
So this review will be from the point of view of an inexperinced novice. I was looking for a cheap, um....... inexpensive guitar to learn on, after searching different places for reviews for something that would meet my requirments. I settle upon the Takamine S34C, because of the opinons of many experinced musicans, who said they were impress by the sound and tone of this inexpensive instrument.
Now for my humble review, it seems to have good quailty construction and a nice satin finish. It tunes easily and holds its tune. Intonation seems good. When I'm ready to replace the strings, I'm thinking maybe D'Addario EXP 16 and maybe have the action lowered.
All in all, I'm very happy this guitar and think this not only makes a very good beginner's guitar, but one that might give good use for many years to come.
I ranked it 5-stars for my satisfaction.I don't have any experince to rank it to other $100 guitars, does it garner 5-stars aginst them? I don't know, maybe.
- The first thing I can say is that the guitar is absolutely beautiful. It's well made, sounds amazing, stays in tune well. Basically, you are getting good Takamine quality for the price of a Harmony... and it will last longer. Definitely not your typical "bargain guitar".
My only complaint is that there is that there is only one knob for a neck strap. It's easy enough to fix with a little effort (Or you can just tie the strap to the neck (under the strings of course), but it would really be nice to have that second knob :) Don't let that turn you away from the Jasmine, though. You wont get a better guitar for the price!!

1 comments about Yamaha C40PKG Classical Guitar Package.
- I've played the guitar all of my life and have several Yamaha classical guitars. These are the only nylon-string guitars that are I will buy and that are worth buying.
Yamaha classical guitars are the best inexpensive high quality classical guitars that you can purchase. I've bought several other brands of classical guitars in the past but always end up selling them. I always keep the Yamahas.
If you research classical guitars on the Internet, you will find that Yamaha brand is the best classical guitar that you can buy for the money. They are not hand crafted like the more expensive brands but who cares? They are made by a computer controlled machine to exact tolerances. They play just as great as one made by a craftsman. Sure there are more expensive classical guitars out there but why pay more for same thing that you can buy cheaper? Especially when it is easy to play and sounds great.

- I just got this guitar in the mail, and as soon as I pickes the box up, it was very light weight, that was my first sign that something was wrong. Then, when I opened the box there was the guitar, but it was so crappy. The strings are so thin that one of them broke on the first day (and I'm a really careful person), the actual guitar is very thin, and the paint was done very poorly. The head part of the guitar doesn't look anything like the one in the preview, and I cant find where you put hook up the strap on one end. Please I beg of you DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! It may be inexpensive, but you should save your money for something better!...oh and the frets are messed up too!!!
- I was so pleased with this guitar. It was my first acoustic guitar, but I am glad that I purchased this guitar- it's been slammed into walls, and the wood still looks good. It was easy for me to play, and I plan on buying future guitars from Austin Bazaar. Only one bad thing- I received a red pick.
- I recently decided to learn guitar and thought about teaching myself at home. Bought this guitar through Amazon.com after looking at some decent reviews on it and saw that the price is unbeatable. I like the fact that it is small and lightweight, and that it comes with a set of accessories, but I found it hard to tune. I would play a song that would sound 'right' going up the scale but sound 'off' going down the scale. I decided to take a class a month ago, and last week, my instructor tried to tune my guitar, and he said the guitar has an 'intonation' issue, which means that the guitar just wouldn't tune on chords even if the individual strings are in tune. I suspect there are problems with the frets markings. Overall, since I am pretty tolerant and big on cheap bargains, I would say this item is an okay bargain, and if you are unsure about pursuing guitar but need an instrument to try out, then you may want to get this. I was able to play melody ('Amazing Grace','Star Spangled Banner', etc) just fine. It will probably start giving me issues once I start playing chords. But if you are serious about playing guitar, get a better one, this one is a no go.
- Please do not be tempted by the low price. This is a poor quality guitar and will only lead to fustration for beginniners. When I purchased mine, I immediately noticed the poor paint job, and several nicks and dents along the body. But most importantly the bridge is the incorrect size, which makes the guitar impossible to properly tune, or keep in tune without replacing it. Also, the board it's connected to is held in place with only plastic pegs with no sealing around it, which means it is only a matter of time before it breaks.
I purchased mine thinking it would be a fine learner guitar, but after of few weeks of constantly trying to keep it in tune (Guitar strings should settle after only a couple of days, not weeks) I was so fustrated with it and gave it to my teacher to take a look at it, who pointed out these two important defects.
- I also received a gig bag...since I do not know how to play a guitar yet I will have to wait until I start practicing on the instrument with my tutorials I ordered whenever they get here that is...LOL! Hope I made first beginner guitar choice though. Anyway like I always say,the ladies are gonna be lining up to talk to PeNName with his brand new Crescent 38" Blue Cutaway Acoustic Guitar with Gig Bag and accesories!

5 comments about SX SG15 1/2 MPN Pink 1/2 Size w/Bag + DVD.
- This was a present for my 7 yr old daughter's birthday. She LOVES it!!! She has not put it down since it came in. My husband has been a guitar player for over 20 years and he even said this guitar was great for the $$. The size is perfect for little hands and I can even play it a little. The sound is a little high pitched but this is due to the size of the instrument. For a first guitar the price is great too, we were surprised that the quality is so high in an instrument that didn't cost a ton. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get their little one started. Thank you!
- I bought this guitar for my 5-year-old daughter after returning a defective First Act Discovery FG157. This difference between the FG157 and this SX SG15 is like night and day. The FG157 arrived unplayable due to a broken neck. The SX guitar, on the other hand, arrived double-boxed and in mint condition. (Even the strings has protective wrapping over them.) It's been 24 hours since tuning the guitar for the first time, and it's remained in tune. Fit and finish is excellent for a guitar in this price range. Although this guitar does not come with a gig bag, strap, picks, or extra strings, what you do get is a well-built instrument that actually sounds like a guitar, not a lifeless wooden box with wires. Although the small body doesn't allow for a deep resonant tone, the sound overall is bright and musical. (I've been playing guitar for 25 years, and I know what a good guitar should sound like.) Unlike the First Act Discovery guitar, the SX has very little sloppy paint and glue work.
[...]I will try to post a follow-up review after a few months to report on how this guitar holds up to the rigors and abuses an engergetic 5-year-old can dish out. I have no reason to believe that with proper handling and care this guitar won't provide years of musical joy. I would even recommend it as a student guitar.
- My daughter is 6 and has been taking lessons using this guitar. It si perfect for beginning lessons and the size is smaller so it is easy for her to use. It came with a case - which is really important, since kids seem to be a bit careless with their stuff sometimes.
- My 7-year old daughter saved her money to purchase this guitar. She hasn't put it down since we received it. The pink color is actually a shade darker. It's a beautiful mauve. The guitar sounds great and the DVD is really helpful. We are very satisfied with this purchase.
- I recently received this guitar and planned to give it to my daughter for her 5th birthday. I spent hours scouring the internet trying to find the appropriate size guitar and one that would balance quality and affordability. This one seemed to fit the bill, but upon inspection I became immediately disappointed.
The guitar I received was much darker than pictured, and while this may not seem a huge deal, it certainly is when your 5 yr old girl sees a mauve guitar instead of a pink one. It also smelled awful, like cheap products from china that are manufactured with harsh paints and dyes. The deal breaker for me was the black paint on it, though. Instead of a uniform line of edging around the guitar, there was a shoddy line drawn by hand with black paint. It honestly looked like nail polish. and on the top of the guitar where you would look down and rest your right arm over while playing, it was smeared all over the pink paint. There was even some mild chipping to the wood at certain edges and it was obvious that it was not due to any shipping problems.
I am now left in a bind. I'm currently about to return my guitar to the store ( I bought it direct from the rondo music site as opposed to through amazon) and have to purchase a competing product from another retailer and rush the shipping in order to receive it on time. Quality control in their store could have prevented all this.

- This is a great guitar to buy. the price is extremely reasonable for the guitar you get. the finish is absolutely beautiful and the sound is great. I was very impressed.
- I was totally awestruck when I saw these beautiful guitars come in the mail for my students. I purchased 14 of them and they are outstanding.
I'm really glad I shopped around and found such a
GREAT deal.
- This is a great guitar. I was a lit skeptical over picking it up without playing it, but it turned out to be a great one. The sound is deep with clear high notes. I love it when I start playing it and gets difficult to put it down. I would definitely recommend.
- I was looking for a good starter guitar for a friend and happened on this Rogue model. Musician's Friend shipped this package very quickly (especially given it was so close to Christmas).
The body is very attactive and without any defects. It is, as the product description indicates, a smaller guitar. The difference isn't so much in the body, which is a touch smaller, but in the neck, which is noticable shorter, making it a good choice for smaller hands. But while it's a smaller than standard guitar, it's not a child's model.
My only complaint, and it's minor, is about the strings. They're tinny and not very high quality. This is solved by simply restringing the guitar with new strings. For the money, this is a solid product and a great starter instrument.
- So far I have ordered two of these guitars (blue). How many times as parents have we spent loads of money on things our kids/teens just had to have, only to find the items sitting unused merely months later. I wanted my daughter to have the opportunity to explore her interest and talent at playing the guitar without spending a fortune. I have to admit that the low price made me skeptical. I have seen "starter" guitars at the local Wal-Mart for over $80.00 that really looked cheap. I was extremely pleased with the price, the timely shipping, and the quality of the guitar. Most impressive, however, is the look of the guitar. It is just beautiful, and according to a friend of mine who has been playing for years, the quality of sound is very good for the price of the guitar. I would, and have, recommended this item to many people. I would never consider another choice for someone wanting to begin playing.

- My grandaughter loves this guitar. I was looking for a good buy and found one here. I bought a blue one for my grandson. The accessories and especially the bag was great.Great beginner guitar.
- This guitar is extremely bad. It is a waste of time and money. It is very poorly made, the strings are terrible, as are the tuning pegs. This is a horrible "guitar", go somewhere else with your money.
I also had a bad experience with the seller, who didn't answer my emails urgently when I needed to, but answered within a couple hours for each subsequent email.
- I received my hot pink guitar in the mail within a week of ordering. I love it. It's super pink and nice. For the amount of money I paid for it, I was pretty impressed. I received everything that was listed with this item. The guitar is a little hard to tune, but it is very fun to play with. I would definitely recommend it for kids or beginners or even adults (considering that I am 22). I play with my guitar everyday, some of my friends are planning on purchasing one just like mine. I would happily say that I am pleased with what I received.
- The favorable reviews on this guitar must be from the manufacturer, independent seller or from buyers who don't know how to play guitar. I've been playing guitar for over 10 years. We got this one for our niece for x-mas and i spent 30 minutes trying to tune it to no avail.
do not buy this junker! Spend about 30 or 40 more dollars and by a Squier or a Johnson.
- Got this guitar for my little sister for Christmas and my wife and I was very surprised how beautiful this guitar was. Wonderful guitar for beginners.
