- This guitar is a true beauty, whether you are buying one for the first time or are an experienced guitarist! The quality is superb for the price.
BE ADVISED, though. IF your order is coming from Musician's Friend (or likely from other sources), it already comes in a beautiful HARD SHELL CASE. Amazon's listing did NOT say so much, so I ordered a case separately and now have a 2nd one to get rid of.
Happy playing!
- This is my first guitar, and I'm very happy with it. I took it to a friend and he agreed that for its price, it is one of the best guitars out there. I would strongly recommend the D10S for anyone who's looking for a great intro acoustic.
- I have ordered this item through Amazon and felt that I was getting a great deal since it is sold elsewhere for much for...well as it appears to be there is no good deal!!! It is a rip off! Amazon has actually processed my order but the Musucian's Friend (MF) refuses to ship it at $199 advertised here; MF will happily sell it to me at $299 - the price that is posted on their own website and assume no responsibility for the price that Amazon has advertised. I have spoken to the Musician's Friend customer support and though the people seem nice they have no desire in resolving this issue and granting me the price at which I was purchasing this guitar. I will be trying Amazon's customer support and see if I get anywhere there. I expect Amazon to honor the deal. I will update the post later. For right now stay away from this item and Musician's Friend store in general...who knows what other prices are erroneous...oh and by the way the Musician's Friend has not contacted me to let me know that there is a problem with the item...I have found out through the shipment confirmation ...so now I have a bunch of guitar accessories for the guitar coming my way but NO guitar.

- The guitar has trouble staying tuned and the nut at the top that holds the strings spontaneously broke (probably from the tension on it by the strings and a manufacturing defect). On the other hand Customer Service from West was excellent, they were willing to pay for my return shipping and sending the product back to me. So its is a poor product but a great company.
- This guitar was ordered for my 6 year old niece. It arrived in good condition, has a nice satin finish, and appears to be built fairly well. The tuners are okay (they click loudly when the strings are brought up to pitch), and the sound is okay. In my opinion, for another $20 or so, the Aria 3/4 size classical which I saw at a local music store is built better, sounds better, has better tuners, and performs just like a full size classical guitar. FYI, I play an Alhambra 8C.
- Purchased for my smallish 7yo daughter. Good size for her to learn on. Guitar has a solid spruce soundboard, which is amazing to find on such a low priced instrument. The tuning machines are easy to use and do the job they're supposed to. The guitar stays in tune pretty well and has a good even tone for a small instrument (that solid spruce soundboard again). Strings sound ok, one of them (the 4th string) popped soon after purchase but at $0.80 to replace it's not a big problem.
- This guitar is ok for the price paid. The sound is not very good but you can't expect more for this money. The construction is solid, the tunning mechanism a little hard. I bought it for my 7 year old son, I wanted something cheap for him to start playing, to see if he really likes playing guitar (my own guitar is a full size, very big for his hands). If he starts learning and shows me interest, I'll buy him another one more expensive, I don't recomend this one for a serious learner. My only complain is that this guitar has no a finish coat, is a little rough at the touch and I think it'll be affected by humidity.
- I bought this guitar for one of my students...didn't expect anything much as it wasn't a Robelli, Ibanez or even a Yamaha Classical...but boy! for the price and for the child beginner, it's perfect!!
It's economical enough not to worry if the kid tends to knock it up a few times (and even then, the guitar still manages to look good, no cosmetic surgery needed), but even if the kid is serious about his sessions, the volume and tone is very very good...
A child student can superbly play on the Amigo ¾ size from childhood into his adolescent years without sacrificing posture...heck even I played it a few times, ran some solos, and I felt very comfortable!!
The only thing I noticed was that passing the 12th fret, the tuning goes a little FLAT, but that's nothing major I guess, because in my opinion these sizes are built for beginners anyway, and from the time I have them fingerpicking and soloing beyond the 15th fret, they will be NEAR ADULTS and need to but a full-size guitar then anyway!! But of course if they choose to stay playing folk guitar and strumming chords, then they can very well use the Amigo ¾ for life!
So for cost-effectiveness, durability and playability for the target market, despite the one con, I STILL GIVE THE GUITAR 5 STARS!!
