5 comments about Grizzly H0800 Heat Gun - 1200 Watt.
- It looks like a well made heat gun and it looks like it's very durable and has a good design and easy to handle.
- cheap and works great
i use it only intermitantly only
so dont know about professional use
- I returned this item because the heat adjustment did not work and it blew only lukewarm air. I guess that's what you get for ordering it on the cheap. Next time, I'll pay more--and just avoid the grizzlies altogether.
- I bought the Grizzly heat gun to shrink wrap some cds that I made. The first time I used it I noticed how light weight it was and how powerful. I only needed to use the lowest setting for it to get the job done. I love how it can stand on its own and how it has several settings. I have used it to shrink wrap over 800 cds and it still awesome. Good investment.
- I've owned three of these heat guns. They work well, and are a good value for the money. The variable heat gives you all the control one needs. A good buy.

2 comments about Mechanix Wear MG-55-009 Original Glove Stealth Medium.
- I had a pair of these (not the stealth style) and lost one of them so when I saw Amazon selling them for only 20 bucks I grabbed them.
They have excellent grip, are very comfortable and they look really cool. I use them for work, but I also use them sometimes for driving because they have such great grip. Mechanix makes great products - very high quality.
- these are the gloves issued to security forces in Iraq. they are good for many tasks, but if you want something a little more hardy go for the new 'plus' gloves from the same company. they are good driving gloves and are comfy-not bulky. they are good for 'regular' tasks (not heavy ones like construction!) like helping a friend move, (protects hands, helps with grip) hiking (to grab limbs and rocks better), maybe even playing football and golf? i searched all over the net and found the best price for them on amazon. they have their own website (Mechanix) that will explain the uses and features of all their gloves. so many kinds for so many uses, it is amazing.

1 comments about LEATHER THUMB GUARD SMALL.
- I just joined a carving club and everyone has been waiting for me to be the latest recipient of the 'Blood and Guts Award' which is given to any person who draws blood while carving. This award is transferred to anyone who cuts themselves and the last recipient has been waiting with bated breath for me to slice myself. This thumb guard has protected me from harming myself and the current award holder is now blue in the face from holding his breath. This is not an award I want and the thumb guard is perfectly sized for me!

- Like with everything else. I bought a Chinese set like this one and it clogged, the chrome finish started peeling off two or three weeks after, well, I threw it away. These Bosch people are good at almost everything they do. Swiss company, isn't it? or German? Well, I gave it 4 stars because I think they can do a better finish. The price is not a giveaway neither, but it works fine... Its OK.

5 comments about Crescent AC8NKWMP 8-Inch Rapid Slide Adjustable Wrench.
- Wonderful, and a great price. I love the new slide feature that Crescent has built into their new adjustable wrench. I have incorporated these wrenches in to all the workstations in my production facility. A must to have.
- Very solid and easy to use wrench. Adjustment feature is a great design and easy to use with one hand. The wrench is thicker and heavier than I expected, but the extra mass is a plus when leverage is needed.
- This is a tool for the directionally infermined. You don't have to think which way to turn the gear. The best.
- I'm a tradesman and I'm a bit tough on tools at times, however this crescent broke the first time I used it. It is an excellent concept. I really didn't want to give this 1 star but that is all it deserves. I would like to believe I got a dud but I doubt it.
- I wanted to like this because it is a good idea. The implementation is jsut poorly done.
I bought one and it broke--the slider lost it's position, so it no longer opened the jaw all the way. I returned it, and the second eventually did the same.
I returned it too. Maybe version 2 will be dependable.

- I do not use this drill in a machine (it's original intent) but I use it in my single hole Kreg. It performs much better than the drill that came with the pocket guide. Definatley a worthwhile upgrade!!

5 comments about Jet JW1017 4-Inch Elbow.
- I attached this elbow directly to the intake port of my Jet dust collector. If you don't suspend your 4" hose from above, then using this elbow allows you to run the flex hose horizontally to a piece of equipment (also saving hose length). May not be completely necessary, but it does take the stress off the hose, especially if you move it around a lot.
- When installing a dust collection system, eliminating resistance to airflow is what it is all about. The ideal is as large a pipe as possible, flowing in a straight line, without any ridges in the surface. Of course in the real world at least some of these things wind up being less than ideal. What this Jet 4" elbow does, is give you a large pipe, that makes a gradual turn as opposed to a straight 90 degree angle, and the sides of the elbow are smooth. So when you need to make a turn with your air flow, this elbow does the nicest job.
The fit snugs neatly inside the standard 4" flex pipe. With some 4" Jet wire clamps which are also highly recommended over standard pipe-band clamps and this Jet elbow your all set for some hassle free collecting.
- I AM A HEAD PORTER SO I KNOW AIRFLOW.YOU WILL GET BETTER AIR FLOW JUST BENDING YOU HOSE.WHEN THEY SAY IT IMPROVES AIRFLOW THEY ARE WRONG AND HAVE KNOW IDEA WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT AND I WONDER IF THEY OWN PART OF THE COMPANY .THE INNER DIAMETER IS REDUCED TO 3 INCHES OR LESS BY A VERY SHARP CORNER SLOWING DOWN AND REDUCING AIRFLOW ALOT. IF YOU DO BUY THIS POORLY DESIGNED ELBOW. TAKE A FILE OR DREMMEL TOOL TO SMOOTH OUT THE RIDGE. THAT WILL INCREASE AIRFLOW ALOT.ESPECIALY IF YOU HAVE A WEEK DUST COLLECTOR YOU NEED TO.IT WILL ADD ABOUT 300CFM OR MORE AIRFLOW. THATS LIKE CAMPARING A 700CFM CARB. TO A 1000CARB.ITS A BIG DIFFERANCE.IF YOU DONT HAVE TO BEND YOUR HOSE AS MUCH AS THE ELBOW DONT USE IT. AIRFLOW IS MORE VALUBLE THEN LOOKS.ANYONE SAYING THERE ARE NO RIDGES IN THIS ELBOW WELL THATS A PLAN OUT (LIE)AND REDICULOUS. THIS WAS A HONEST REVIEW. GOOD LUCK
- I read evrywhere to avoid 90 degree bends in my ducting if possible - and I did - but there was one place in my shop where it was unavoidable. I used this elbow to solve the problem and I have not noticed a significant difference in the airflow or dust collector performance. By the way I have a one car garage shop with a Jet DC650 collector.
Bottom line, don't make sharp bends in your ducting if you can avoid it. If you must bend, use these but use them sparingly and you should be fine.
- This is the first and last Jet product I'll ever buy. Very poor design includes a internal mitered corner that has sharp edges and reduces flow area by at least a third. If you want a dust collector that plugs up use these elbows.

5 comments about DeWalt DW1163 13 Piece Black Oxide Split Point Twist Drill Bit Assortment.
- I have owned this set of bits for a long time and I am very pleased with their quality. The bits stay sharp for a good long while and the assortment includes all of the sizes you would use most often. This new design for the case is a vast improvement and it seems to hold up well. I keep my bits right in the case with my DeWalt cordless drill so I am never without them!
Buy these and you won't regret it - especially if you often work away from your workshop!
- and they have better deals on larger sets...so check there and check other brands..beware the black oxide stuff
- These drill bits are great especially at this price. THeyre great bits for whatever you need around the house. Won't get mad if you dull them by hitting brick or a nail, just buy more.
- I bought these for home use -- Excellent product, I have no complaints. They glide through wood, walls and even stucco. None have broken.
- I needed a set of general purpose, light duty drill bits for occasional home use. These serve that purpose well and the case keeps them organized and is easy to find.

5 comments about BucketBoss Extreme Gear 01064 Fatback Bucket Organizer.
- Finally a product that holds more tools than I want to carry. Even a spot for a "junk drawer"!
- Not to imply these are not for the pros, but rather from a DIY person's point-of-view, these are a must. Like many day-to-day out of home working people, I love to become the evening and weekend warrior of home projects. Having some ancient history of doing auto service, I am a toolbox/toolchest user. When it comes to around the house projects these organizers are GREAT. I have never found it so easy to move from project to project and know where my most used tools are. I can easily see using either two of these or one of their other (bags) products in combination. The hardest things I found about using this product was the initial fitting to the bucket (tight, snug, had to wrestle with it) and figuring out which pockets work best for which tools. Long screwdrivers, pry bars, etc. are still somewhat of a mystery yet they do fit. Heck, you can always place them free in the center . . . I would recommend this organizer to anyone.
- I'm a professional remodeler. I carry all my essential tools in my bucket. It's my basic toolbox with those everyday items I reach for over and over -- some carpentry tools, some plumbing tools, some electrical tools, drywall, tiling, etc. I don't like to wear a toolbelt, so I keep the bucket close at hand as my de facto toolbelt. (My Duluth Trading Firehose pants have enough pockets to hold the tools I use at any given moment).
I was pretty happy with my last bucket organizer and haven't seen a better one in any of the stores, but it began to wear-out and I figured I'd best replace it before small items vanished through the holes in the bottom of the pockets. I was a bit torn between getting this organizer or its less-expensive sibling, but decided on this one due to the additional pockets and durability. I've begun to use it and am very pleased with it.
For starters, it's tough. The fabric feels indestructible. Even the "junk drawer" accessory bag has mesh reinforcement in the plastic so that even if a screw punctures the clear vinyl, it isn't going to rip apart. The rubber coating in key areas perfectly addresses the wear patterns I noted in my old organizer.
The array of pockets is well-considered. Especially welcomed are all the pockets on the INSIDE of the bucket. I've never seen so many and they help keep the bucket from becoming a "trash dump". I keep the items less-frequently used in these pockets and reserve the exterior ones for screwdrivers, pliers and other tools that I reach for most frequently.
I confess that I really wish I could will myself to work less and golf more. While I still fail miserably at progressing in such rehabilitation, I do enjoy knowing that this thing has a rain hood tucked away so that when I need to keep things dry, I can pretend that I'm really covering my drivers and irons. :-)
Like most people I know, I'm not as good about using my safety glasses as I should be, but I think having convenient, at-hand access to the pocket in this organizer that holds and protects the glasses will encourage me to use them more. The metal clip right at the top for a tape measure is also great and ends the ritual of having to empty half the bucket to dig the tape out from the bottom.
I only have a couple of thoughts on how to improve this item. First, it could use better storage for pencils, nail sets, pens and other long, slender objects. It has some, but there are not quite enough of these for my needs. Also, the little pockets it does have should be either a little deeper or further down the side of the bucket so these items don't stick up quite as much. Similarly, none of the pockets are open at the bottom. I.e., there aren't any loops. There are pockets to hold the screwdrivers, but I'd also like some simple loops for such tools. Lastly, I find that with my bucket, my handle doesn't have much freedom of motion. The top organizer sits low and solidly enough over the ends of the handle to prevent it from fully laying down on either side. This probably doesn't matter at all to anyone, but I offer it as a simple observation.
All in all, this is a really excellent product. Buy this one and not the cheaper one if you plan on seeing it used much.
- I bought this for my boyfried and he loves it. Wished it had a metal hammer holder but otherwise very pleased. Great price too!!
- This is a tough product and seems well made, but there are serious design issues that make this product a failure for anyone using it.
1: Drill Holder - My 18v Dewalt XRP drill will not fit into the drill holder with the button snapped closed. So, the drill hangs there waiting to fall out of the sleeve, if I move the bucket. I wonder how many other drills will not fit into the drill holder.
2: Screwdriver Storage - There are no proper screwdriver slots. All of the slots and pockets are closed on the bottom. This means that your screwdrivers will hang high over the slots, instead of fitting snug. Screwdrivers will most likely be lost on any job site, if the pockets are used.
3: Way too expensivve - This product is worth $15 max, with its design flaws.

5 comments about Porter-Cable 892 2-1/4-Horsepower Router.
- I bought this as an upgrade to my P-C 690. I had the opportunity to use a friend's 892 first. Two things I liked right away that made me decide to upgrade was the extra power which makes a big difference over the 690, and the placement and ease of the on/off switch. After using it for a fairly large job I did notice a couple of problems.
1. What my friend forgot to tell me is that he switched sub-bases so if you want to use it with standard guide bushings you must order an additional sub-base (part number 909239).
2. The motor housing gets quite hot after continued use, and to change the bit you need to grab the housing and hold tight, so gloves or something to shield your hands from the heat is needed.
I did call Porter-Cable and complained/asked about the different sub-base and was told they had a reason for making the change. I told them that since I had already sold my 690 I could not use any of my jigs that needed guide bushings with my new router and would have to order a new sub-base. The customer service rep said no problem and they would send me a new sub-base for free! So I guess in my mind that makes the problems quite minor, therefore a 5 star rating.
- I like all the features and a great motor. I have had it a year and 1/2 and use it only a couple times a month. The lift system has been broken 3 times. My last PC router
- Fantastic on power but using the supplied base attached to a router table is not recommended. I have been using this router in my table and it is perfect for every job I have thrown at it. I barely notice a power drop when using raised panel bits on pine, there is a little bit of a draw when paneling oak. The draw back is that the base is not that friendly to changing bits and chucks, a small pain regularly but it is a big drawback when using the router with a table base plate. I can't just raise the base plate, I have to actoually take the router off the plate or else the bit change is all but impossible. Really not that big of a deal but the screws that hold the router to the plate are crappy. I think the holes are not threaded quite right. The supplied screws broke off when I tried to back them out the first time. I bought several other sizes from Home Depot but all are either too lose or too tight. I ended up re-taping the holes to a larger size and now it works fine. Hopefully this is just a fluke.
- I purchased this router in July of 07 and have never been able to use it. I have sent it in for repair three times and have received three seperate new motors. All of them have un acceptable runout. .060-.090 or more. The runout is so bad that the router actually shut off when I tried to turn a panel bit. You can visably see the wobble if you put a large 1/2" flush trim bit in it. I even went through the trouble to video tape my tests using a dial indicator, i clamped the motor to my cabinet saw and placed a 1/2 straight bit using the shaft as a referance and received almost a 3/4 swing on the indicator, I then moved the same collet and bit into and old PC router (rockwell) with results of .001 in runout, very acceptable in a 10 year old well used router. I sent them the videos and they still say they are finding no problems..... Basically if you bought a PC tool 10 years ago you will love it, if you buy a current model good luck, it is imported garbage, I have also burned up about three PC sanders over the past two years. I now buy Festool, the stuff is exspensive but perfectly engineered and you will not have to replace it. I have a friend who has a 10 year old Festool sander that failed and they rebuilt it for under 100 bucks and had it back within a week. That is customer service
Do Not Buy This Router............. Porter-Cable is not worth the aggrivation.
PS I own a high end Cabinet shop in Colorado, I know tools........
- I recently purchased a Porter-Cable 2 1/4 variable speed router from Amazon.com. It was only the second time that I had purchased a piece of woodworking equipment from Amazon.com (my first purchase was the Lonnie Bird set of CMT crown molding router bits). Although I have been a woodworker for more than 20 years I have previously always purchased from a specialized woodworking site.
In both instances that I purchased from Amazon, Amazon priced the same item significantly cheaper than the specialty woodworking sites. In both cases my equipment arrived in record time and in mint condition.
I bought the P-C router to use in my router table where I employ an older router lift which required a smaller diameter motor than most of the more recent industrial strength routers--but I needed the variable speed to handle free-hand routing of curved pieces (which I have learned--by painful experience--work much better when the router speed is dialed down). The model 892 fit my router lift and the slower motor speed helped me do the job more safely and with less stress. I am very happy with this purchase.
