  1. They work like they're supposed to. Bore size is good, not too much tightening required. Set screw stays tight. Appear to be bullit-proof & american made to boot. I would like to see them come with a case though & wouldn't mind paying another buck or two for it.

  2. This is a great product and offers you piece of mind when drill those dowel holes. I agree with the other review though; I wouldn't have minded paying a touch more for a case to keep them organized. The bore size seems to be correct. I've only used two of them so far. They slid on very well, demonstarting to me that they were manufactured to within a set of very high standards. They locked on very well and have never slid out of position while working with them.

5 comments about Delta 34-264 8-Inch Dado Insert for Delta Contractors Saws and Right-Tilt Unisaws.
  1. I wasn't sure I was ordering the right insert based on the product dimensions show above. But the insert is the correct size and the dimensions shown above are incorrect.

Actual size of this insert (Model 34-264) is 13.375" X 3.75"

  2. I finally broke down and bought the dado insert. Packaging was a bit of overkill. It arrived in a box big enough for boots! I have used my dado blade set several times without the insert and finally ordered one. I had ordered another tool from Amazon and added this to the list. I actually got it for $4.00 because I order it when Amazon offered $25.00 off a purchase of $125.00. I would recommend adding this to your shopping list when Amazon is offering promotions. It works great and the leveling screws work flawlessly. I would like the insert to come with a mounting screw like the one on the regular insert that came with the saw. It fits perfect in the slot and has a nice weight to it. I have a Delta 36-675 with T2 fence. (Upgraded to a bigger Biesemeyer fence in mid 2006 or so.)

Four stars because it costs too much and doesn't have a mounting screw. I am glad I didn't get hurt using my saw without one.

  3. The size of the insert fits well with my table saw. However, there is no effective way to secure the insert to keep it from vibrating or moving a bit while in use. This is a design flaw that could be corrected by providing an anchor screw like those available for the regular blade insert.

  4. I bought this because the item description made me think it would fit all contractor's saws and right-tilt Unisaws. (I'm new to woodworking, so I didn't realize that wouldn't make much sense.) Be aware, this insert only fits older, right-tilt Delta contractor's saws. It does not fit the new left-tilt models.

So, I don't really have a complaint about this item. It just didn't fit my saw. It looked like it would serve the purpose it was made for, however, I found that buying a zero-clearance insert and making a zero-clearance dado plate was the best way to go for both price and performance.

  5. I'm sure this throat plate is fine for the correct saw, but Amazon has poor lableing. I had to return it. Listing it as the insert for 'Delta Contractors Saws' is an error. It fits right-tilt contractors saws, not left tilt. The left-tilt contractors saw throat plate is listed as the one for left-tilt Delta Unisaw, but is the right item for their left tilt contractors saw as well.

5 comments about Simpl Products PJ-5K Pockt Jig Kit.
  1. I bought this tool with the hopes of saving money on what seems to be a straight forward tool. But the clamp is too weak to hold wood in place and the jig twists out of position during use, even on softwood. During the first use on a piece of hardwood maple cabinet facing, the drill bit broke. Not a single pocket hole was successfully made using this tool. Worthless and frustrating. Now I have to ask my wife for an increase in my allowance to get a useful jig.

  2. Spend a few $ more and get the real thing. The step drill broke the first time I used it. Amazon sent me another one and it broke as well. I bought a kreg kit and have used it over 100 times with no problems. I guess the old saying "you get what you pay for" applys here.

  3. I'd agree with the other negative reviews that this product isn't built to last.

For those on here whom had problems with the tip breaking....the instructions do say to pump the drill in and out and dont try and remove all the material at once. The jig is so tight against the wood that is no place for the sawdust to go and you have to help this process along.

I paid $27 for this one and a Kreg is $39(for the mid-size) kit. So far, this one has worked okay but I am suspect of the longevity....doesnt seem like it is going to last that long, we'll see. Every time I pump the drill...sawdust comes and out and metal filings from the drill rubbing against the jig.

If this one fails me, I will probably purchase a Kreg next time around !

  4. The best price I've seen for a pocket jig. I'd recommend this jig to everybody. I personally prefer this type of jig more than the Kreg jig sets. Its simple, you just stick your wood in it, clamp it, drill it, then your done. No messing around, no hassle. This product gets an A++!

  5. This pocket hole jig works very well on 3/4/ to 1 inch wood. I feel pocket holes are the most advanced woodworking tool of the 20th century. Great for face frames, book cases, tables and most furniture. I haven't had a table fail in over 12 years. This one at Amazon is a quality tool at a super price. Quality screws and accessories can be purchased at Lowe's.

1 comments about Brad Point Drill Bit High Speed Steel 25 Piece Set.
  1. I ordered this set over some cheaper ones hoping to get a decent set of brad point bits. Unfortunately the very first bit I used broke on the first hole I tried to drill (11/32"). I was drilling into 1/2" plywood to install some adjustable shelf standards. The bit broke half way into the plywood (CDX grade softwood). I was not overly pushing on the bit, nor at an angle either. I then put in the next sized bit and was able to finish 55 holes with no other problem. So I am guessing the fist bit had a manufacturing flaw. They are foreign made. At this time I have to give the bits a below average rating. Would be nice if sellers included country of manufacturer. Would not have purchased the set for price I paid, if I had known they were from overseas. Order was fullfilled and delivered promptly. I have ordered from seller before and never a problem. I did not contact them after the bit failure.

5 comments about Bostitch FN16250K-2 16 Gauge 1-1/4-Inch to 2-1/2-Inch Finish Nailer with Magnesium Housing.
  1. This is my first nailer purchase, though not my first experience with a nailer. The first thing that I noticed upon opening the box is that this tool is a quality product! All the parts and pieces fit wonderfully. The magnesium body makes this a very light weight tool which I can really appreciate. There's no need to oil the tool either, so maintenance is virtually non-existent. The magazine is very easy to load, and you can see how full it is while in operation. The nailer comes pre-fitted with a quarter-inch air connector (many are not, which means a trip to the hardware store just to make those other nailers complete). Two really nice touches that make this nailer stand out from many...it comes with a supply of nails (no need to order 4000 nails, just to begin your first job) and it includes a great plastic case for the tool, with room to hold a supply of nails. I don't think I could be happier with a finish nailer!

  2. After having used the nailer quite a bit, not too many complaints. I average about one double fire every 1,000 nails. Depth adjustment works fairly well. The hammer does damage a most name brand brad heads on contact, making pretty sparks and occasional shrapnel, even when running on low air pressure.

The construction itself is very nice. A heavy weight shell and grip that don't feel even the least bit cheap. The case, however, is your average plastic air-blown case which is quite cheap compared to other brands like Dewalt and Rigid nailers. It is a universal case that Bostitch uses for multiple nailers and because of that, the FN16250K does not fit perfectly if attempting to store other items alongside the nailer.

In the event I purchase another 16 gauge nailer, I would not select this gun but it is a good quality tool that I could feel comfortable recommending to others.

  3. I have had time now to use this finish nailer and I have to say it works flawlessly. The depth control works very well and I have ran a box of 1000 nails through it without one jam. I would recommend this nailer to anyone, a great product, light and strong.

  4. My favorite thing about this nailer so far is that it's so light. You won't get tired from using this thing. It's also very sturdy and seems very well made. Insertion of nails is simple and effortless. I also really like that my little air compressor runs this nailer just fine. I was initially concerned that it had no safety, but the nailer is designed to not fire unless it's pressed against the board. (This is probably normal for nailers, but this is my first!) It's also a nice touch that it comes with a supply of 2" nails. This thing was ready to go out of the box.

In all, I'm very happy with it so far.

  5. This is a nice nailer and it is well made. I would agree with almost everything said about it in the other reviews. There is one exception that I thought I would bring to the attention of potential buyers. Specifically it is the nail carrier rail. It is hard to load and even harder to unload. Once loaded, there is no way to know what size nails are in the unit from the last time it was used. In contrast, with the DeWalt Nailers both of these things are not an issue.

5 comments about Jet 708127 JRBG-14 Band Saw Roller Bearing Blade Guide Set.
  1. I make a lot of bandsaw box's, so blade adjustment is pretty critical, especially with the smaller blades. This guide system is the way to go. The kit came with good instructions and only took twenty minutes to install. The added support that the guides give to the blade is worth every penny. I looked at the Carter set and the Jet set side by side and really couldn't tell the differance. So based on price I purchased the Jet guide set and am very pleased with it's performance. Adjustments are fast and easy to make even under the table. I bought another set to give to one of my friends as a birthday gift, and would reccomend them to anyone.
Update...I read somewhere that these guides are not suited for small blades...I have to differ with that opinion. I use 3/16" blades a lot, and have no difficulty adjusting these guides to the blade. I like the way they support the blade, especially in tight radius cuts. It's true that with cool blocks you don't have to be very precise in your setup, as the cool blocks won't damage a blade if they come in contact with the teeth, but they also limit the "flex" a bit. Still feel these guides are the way to go. Highly recommend.

  2. The Carter-style roller bearings were very simple to install and adjust. I was able to go through the entire process in about 45 minutes (and that included cleaning the sawdust from the parts of the saw I haven't seen in years). Changing adjustments for different blades is also a snap.

The saw now cuts perfectly. The saw stays on the line and cuts exactly where I want it to. Jet ought to make this device standard equipment for their bandsaws.

  3. I used to have trouble with the blade wandering. I couldn't seem to resaw stock on my bandsaw as well as other people could on their saw. One thing they all seemed to have in common was the Carter blade guides.

These guides improved the perfomance of my saw tremendously. This is so much better than replacing cool-blocks. These guides never wear out and hold the blade steady. I am very pleased.

  4. Seems solidly built and easy to assemble, but after installing, I attempted to install the stock blade guide and it didn't fit when using a 3/4" blade (mount screws were position such that the blade guard would scrape against the blade teeth).

I ended up disassembling the original guide and reusing the main "body", which was wider and as such allowed the guide to clear the blade. My Jet is a 14" closed base manufactured in 2002, perhaps they changed the blade guard design since then to make the bracket wider? I'll be calling Jet tomorrow for an answer.

Would have given 4 stars if I hadn't had the guard clearance problem; the blade guide seemed a little "mickey mouse" to me, need to adjust the blade to roller clearance by trial and error (each time the roller lock-screw is tightened, the rollers shifted a little, so it's a bit of a guessing game to adjust the clearances).

  5. This is a very nice setup and works very well. Easy to install and adjustments are simple but do require an allen wrench. I got these on Amazon and used a program/promotional code, so they were even cheaper than they are listed, roughly half of what Carter charges for their ball bearing guides. If you are considering the Carter system, save the money, buy these and upgrade your spring and get a quick release with the difference. You won't regret buying these.

5 comments about DEWALT DC825KA Heavy-Duty 18 Volt Compact Impact Driver.
  1. got Bosch 23612 Impactor 12-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless Impact Driver, return it and bought this one, can't be pleased any better.

  2. This driver works well but gets EXTREMELY hot during extended use. It reached close to 130-135 degrees at the top of the grip and on the back of the motor housing not to mention the gear housing was hotter. The battery needs to cool for an hour before the charger will begin to charge. The driver needs a better cooling fan if it's to be used for more than 1/2 hour at a time. For intermittent use it would be fine. The forward/reverse switch could use a more positive detend and or more throw.

  3. I have owned two of the regular duty impact drivers and have used them extensively. One of them is about worn out, so I tried the heavy duty model. I am very pleased and would definitely buy another one when I need it. I made the plunge and all of my cordless tools are DeWalt 18 volt. I really appreciate the interchangeable batteries. If you are debating on buying the heavy duty or standard duty impact driver, this is a recommendation for the heavy duty. The noticeable differences are the led light that turns on when the trigger is pressed and the smaller size.

  4. I know a 1/4" impact is going to have play in the chuck, but this wobbles around like crazy. It works it's way out of phillips very easily. With a Dewalt 3" driver the thing is unusable; the tip (while fully seated and under pressure is eccentric by 3mm!!! Even star drivers want to pop out.
That might be okay for big 1/4" or 3/8" lags, but anything smaller, forget it.
You might as well get the 1/2" if you're working with fasteners that big.

  5. I have been using a 14.4 dewalt xrp cordless screw/gun for the past 5 years and have had GREAT success with it. The original two batteries keep on ticking no problems at all plus the tool has taken heavy abuse (dropped, banged, etc. For drilling, the tool is great, can go through 1/4" plate steel no problem. For driving screws, lag bolts it gets the job done no problem but I have always had an interest in impact drivers. I have never used one before(air or cordless) so I figured I would give it a whirl. I am VERY loyal to brands. The screwgun was my first dewalt purchase and since then i have bought everything dewalt(router, table saw, angle grinder, circular saw, jigsaw.

So I brought the impact driver home, gave the batteries a full charge then let er rip on some 3" drywall screws. I was blown away. You blink, its in. I used to have to lean on the cordless screw gun to drive drywall screws.

Moved up to lag screws (5/16ths 3" inch no predrill) the dewalt laughed, no problem at all.

Moved up to taking nuts off 1/2 bolts that were touqed to 80ft/lbs, no problem.

My only regret is that I didnt purchase this tool earlier. Also, using both the impact driver and the drill together saves a TON of time not having the change bits.

I would pay $500 for this tool if I had to.
