5 comments about The Official Rent-A-Husband Guide to a Safe, Problem-Free Home: Quick, Easy, and Effective Solutions for Do-It-Yourselfer Improvements and Repairs.
- This book was recommended to me after numerous attempts to become "mistress of my domain" failed. It is so well done I plan to pass the word along to all of my home challenged friends. Fantastic in every way, particularly in the extraordinary way in which it is written.
- Mr.Warren and Ms. Craig have accomplished something no one else ever has in this really wonderful publication. Many thanks to a couple in perfect harmony!
- The coupling of Mr. Warren and Ms. Craig is casting genius! Never before has the usual dry home repair industry had such a sharp, sophisticated, and witty voice. This completely charming and easy-to-understand book has, undoubtedly drawn numerous women, such as myself, to an area which until now was perceived as forbidden. Three cheers!
- I was looking for a book that tells you how to prevent bad things from happening- a recommended schedule of maintenance for my home. This book tells you how to handle problems after they have happened. I get the impression that they want you to buy the book, figure out that you have no idea how to fix your problem, then look to see if there's a "Rent-a-Husband" franchise in your city.
- Truly helpful and a joyous reading experience.

1 comments about Feng Shui Your Kitchen.
- This book helped us create (BY OURSELVES) a kitchen space that has rated rave reviews from friends-- and contractors!
It not only uses the principles of Feng Shu in terms of directions and decorative material elements, it also uses your personality to help you assess what will be most comfortable for the family that will use the space!
I am a 'fire', and my husband a 'wood' ... with children in 'earth' and 'wood'; we ALL feel that the kitchen is now the heart and hearth of our lives together.
SO I'm back to get another of Stasney's (SP?) books... because we're now moving on the redoing the living room!!
I'm not kidding... and no one is paying me to say this.
You will love this book!

1 comments about How to Install Ceramic Tile.
- I bought this book ten years ago and never got around to doing the tiling job I though I would. Finally, two houses later, I again wanted to tile. I was going to take a "how-to" class at Home Depot, but could never manage to get there, so I read this book instead and took notes as I went along. I measured my floor and went in to Home Depot with my list of needed items. I've now successfully tiled my bathroom and kitchen and plan to do the fireplace. This book had all of the information I needed on the "how-to" though I'm now looking at other books for ideas on tile design.

2 comments about Black & Decker 24 Weekend Projects for Pets: Dog Houses, Cat Trees, Rabbit Hutches & More (Black & Decker).
- This is the most poorly written project book I have ever seen. We had to make repeated trips to the hardware store for more parts because of the poor instructions and missing information. There is no accurate shopping list. Other building instructions and photos are unclear. We would have done better looking at a finshed photo and guessing on how to build the project. Pass this book by.
- If I'd had this book when I built my first 2 cat trees they would've been MUCH improved!! For me, the beauty of this book isn't so much the projects themselves but the techniques, such as cutting a block to fit inside a length of PVC pipe so that legs can be securely mounted to the base, or building a miter box to cut said pipes squarely. I have to say, though, I can't wait to try the window sill cat bed!!
If you have elderly or disabled critters you should note that one of the projects is a carpeted vehicle ramp, and instructions allow you to customize it to the height of your vehicle.

3 comments about Kid's Room: Ideas and Projects for Children's Spaces.
- Jennifer Levy's book on kid's rooms is a much needed breath of fresh air in the home decorating book world. Looking for a book to inspire and teach me how to decorate my kid's room, I was shocked to find so many books with strange, difficult and outright unattractive ideas. This book is NOT one of those.
My favorite idea in the book is the folding screen with pockets...living in New York City, where space is a real premium, I found that I could slip books, toys and other items in the pockets while use the screen as a natural divider. Jennifer's instructions were simple, easy and the photographs were gorgeous. I'm buying this book for my friends. It was definitely worth it.
- Basically I found this book showing pictures of what not to do. When I am looking to decorate my child's room, I would not want it to look like most of the pictures in the book. Also most of the pictures were geared towards little girls and not boys. The book was just empty. I read/skimmed it in ten minutes and then threw it aside, thinking to myself, what a waste. If you want something special for your children's rooms don't waste your time and money on this one!
- The first 2/3 of the book deals with decorating elements -- light, color, furniture, and so on. If you are looking primarily for room after room of pictures to inspire you, this is not the one for you. There are only 9 projects in the 156 pages, and very little instruction on how to acheive a look, so if you are looking for a primer on mimicing a picture in the book -- its not for you. And as one reader noted, this manual is heavily girl-room centric. There are only 11 rooms profiled -- 8 of which are for girls only (highly reliant on pinks and purples, lace and sheers). The few "boy" rooms are nearer to gender neutral and are underdressed compared to the rest.

2 comments about Grand Master Baths.
- This wonderful design book has some great ideas for the master bath, with so many gorgeous photos, you'll be hard pressed not to immediately start planning your own dream bath. These baths are wonderful, complete with fireplaces, skylights, whirlpool tubs for two and even private dressing areas. But even if you don't have a huge bath, this book has good ideas for making the most of what you have, with great storage solutions, lighting ideas and luxury extras like heated towel warmers, mirrors that turn into TVs at the push of a button and heated toilet seats. If you want to be inspired with your master bath, this is definitely a great book. You'll get lots of great ideas, plus you'll get to see some of the most gorgeous baths imaginable. Each chapter even has a section with tips from a master bath designer. I highly recommend this book!
- American bathrooms range from the utilitarian to the decadent. In 'Grand Master Baths", Janice Anne Costa draws upon her experience and expertise as the editor of 'Kitchen & Bath Design News' to present a visually enhanced series of bathroom designs that reflect the very cutting edge of what can be accomplished in homes today. From the bathroom as a private sanctuary with all manner of indulgences, styles of furniture, tiles, metal work, lighting, high-tech flourishes, and accessorizing finishing touches, "Grand Master Baths" offers a cornucopia of ideas and images that are as diverse as they are impressive. Of special note is the section dedicated to presenting the bathroom as a part of a Bath Suite, and would incorporate a Sitting Room, a Walk-In Closet, a Dressing Room, a Breakfast Bar, and/or an Exercise Area. Enhanced with a four page Resource Guide, an extensive Glossary of specialized terms, and an Index, "Grand Master Baths" is an enthusiastically recommended addition to personal, professional, academic, and community library Interior Design reference collections.

5 comments about Flea Market Baby: The ABC's of Decorating, Collecting & Gift Giving.
- I absolutely loved this book! A friend gave it to me for my baby shower. If you're like me and admire the vintage look, but never knew where to begin or what to look for--I think you'll find this book as helpful as I did. The authors give such creative and useful ideas! Instead of being intimidated, I am now inspired to go to the flea market and begin decorating the baby's room! The photos are beautifully done and the writing is fun and clever! It was a great gift! I can't wait to get started!
- A wonderful, inspirational reference book. I read it over and over again! I can't get enough! I study it, make lists of ideas and head off to the Flea Market! I just LOVE it! A great gift for the vintage lover! Or treat for yourself!Grab it up and ENJOY!!!!!!! Keep em' comin' PLEASE!!!!!
- this book is a great additin to a home decor library. I really enjoyed it, but I would have liked more information on sources and how thigs were made.
- I am absolutely delighted with this book. If these authors want to write more books in this vein, I would want them all! I don't even have a baby to decorate a room for, but I was enthralled with it nevertheless. Charming decor and collecting ideas using all sorts of vintage things (which I love!). An absolute must-have for any mom who likes the vintage style, antiques, flea markets, etc. I agree it would make a terrific shower gift for a mom-to-be. It will give her plenty of ideas. And you know what? Even if she doesn't even like "old" stuff (or just doesn't know she does yet!), she may still get helpful ideas and/or may find it as delightful to look through as I did!
- I was quite disappointed in this book, which is fairly self indulgent on the authors' part and doesn't offer much useful information. If you've never thought about buying vintage baby items and don't have much imagination, it might be a good starting point. However, it is quite limited.
For one thing, the photos and items featured in the book are almost exclusively mid-century in vintage (50s and 60s), which is certainly not the only vintage style in the world or the only style available at flea markets. Also, don't expect to see any photos of nurseries or other rooms, not even a wall or a whole crib. All the photos are of single items or small vignettes, which are often extracted on a white background with no context. Oh, and the pages of "resources" for flea market shopping are useless for most readers outside of NY/NJ and the Chicago area.
I will keep looking for a good inspiration book for vintage nursery style
