2 comments about The Bathroom Planner: Hundreds of Great Ideas for Your New Bathroom.
- This is a hands-on design book. Great for those that are starting to design or redesign their bathroom (daydreamers too). Included is a split page design that allows you to mix and match wall, cabinets, and fixtures. It also comes with reusable stickers and layout girds in the front and back of the book.It is jam packed with information to help you solve all of your design dilemmas. A
- I had high hopes for this book as a resource in redesigning the bathroom in my newly-acquired house. Alas, for anyone who's had anything to do with bathroom remodelling, this book is way more cute than it is substantive.
It's got cute little split pages so you can play bathroom dress-up and determine your style. They're fun, but they don't give you much of an idea of anything, really. More of a kid's game than a design aide. It's also got cute little press-out baths and sinks and loos that you can stick on squared paper so you can allegedly develop alternative layouts. The problem is, the cute little press-outs are far from comprehensive, and lack images of smaller-than-average tubs, or petite toilets or corner sinks. The text mentions items like soaking tubs and specialty sinks that aren't included in the stick-on figures

2 comments about Earl Proulx's Yankee Home Hints: From Stains on the Rug to Squirrels in the Attic, over 1,500 Ingenious Solutions to Everyday Household Problems.
- I don't know about Earl Proulux, but I have yet to see anything by Yankee that didn't have a lot of value for reading and gleaning information. This book, like anything else put out by Yankee, is worth it's weight in platinum.
- This is the go to book for household problems. We use it for home & yard and it is environmentally friendly, to a great extent. I have had ant trouble both in and out of the house. The book gave several remedies that didnt involve toxic chemicals. Love it. I will browse it for fun too as it has some light reading. Just gave one to a family member. Most times what you need to clean, repair, deal with you have at home.

1 comments about Plastering: An Encyclopaedia.
- This book was written in the UK. None of the terms or products are the same as the USA. Even the explanations of techniques are hard to understand because of all the english terms and slangs. I would not recommend this book because of this. 40.00 some dollars is a lot (too much)for this book and the knowledge it contains.

3 comments about Bed Linens (Home Living Workbooks).
- Let me first say that Katrin Cargill is a very inspirational stylist. The format of all her Home Living Workbook series is user friendly and the instructions simple and adequately illustrated. However, she seems to have run out of inspiration on this particular book. The projects and the fabrics used are all too common. The Bed Linens book is not useless, but I believe that an improved edition would be necessary to keep up to her readers' expectations. To anyone new in sewing I would suggest her perfect Simple Curtains. I would also recommend saving money for the wonderful Fabrications, a constant source of sewing inspirations or even sheer day dreaming!
- Katrin Cargill is a very resourceful and inspiring designer, with a clean, " livable " style. Her designs are simple, beautiful and functional. She is able of creating an impression of cosiness and elegance out of the simplest of fabrics.
The layout of " Bed Linen " is, just as of her other books in the same series, very user-friendly (to beginners, that should be I believe, one of the top priorities ), with detailed, coloured, fold-out drawings. Having said that, I would advise the editors to look again at this particular book's choice of designs. Nice as they may be, we tend to have the impression of an inadequatelly researched and somewhat hurriedly assembled crowd of sometimes beautiful but underdeveloped and somehow repetitive ideas. And this certainly doesn't make a favor to the author. The sub-categories included could be better arranged in two separate books, one with pillows, sheets, bedspreads and dust ruffles, and one with canopies and headboards. For a more ample idea of what Ms. Cargill can really offer you, look also for her wonderful " Simple Curtains " and her rich " Fabrications ". This is a useful book ( a must for beginners ), with ideas easily put to practice that won't ruin your budget, while offering the bedroom an immediate graceful uplift.
