5 comments about Melnor Classic Oscillating Sprinkler #3200H.
-
I didn't realize how much I liked this sprinkler until after I tried replacing it with a LR Nelson 3030. Nothing was wrong with mine mind you, it's just that I wanted to "treat" myself to a new sprinkler.
I have the Craftsman version of this sprinkler (Sears Metal Oscillating Sprinkler with Low Profile Design #79058) and while it appears Sears has dropped it, luckily, Melnor decided to keep it in production.
It is a heavy, well made unit with brass nozzles as well as a brass hose connection so it should definitely stand up for the long haul (I've owned mine for 8 years).
Why not 5 stars?
Two things...
1. The adjustment knob could use some better designing-LR Nelson has Melnor beat here.
2.I wish there was an adjustment for the width like so many other sprinklers out there. I have to turn down the spigot to control just how wide I need to go.
Other than those issues it is a great watering tool!
- After spending a fortune on cheap plastic sprinklers I am very glad I found this sturdy metal one. A great deal for the price. I highly recommend!
- fast shipment...works OK.
Question about the sprinkler arm...There is one hole in the middle of the arm that looks like it should have a "nipple" but it is empty. It still works but just wonder why it is empty.
- After buying a new sprinkler every year, I decided to order a "quality" sprinkler this year. Maybe it would last a bit longer.
When I opened the package, I noticed:
- Some of the parts were missing. Some of the "jets" (on top, where the water exits) were missing, so there were large holes.
- There was no rubber gasket for the hose to attach. Huge leaks.
- Several of the control parts seemed to be made of cheap plastic.
Fortunately, Amazon has a great return policy. So I packed it up and sent it back.
- I bought this sprinkler because Nelson no longer makes a metal version and also discontinued repairs in spite of the warrenty. The Melnor is metal, heavier than plastic models, of course, and therefore more stable. It is nicely finished and there were no missing parts. I had two complaints: The directions were incomplete, neglecting to review the spray pattern symbols, and the domed mesh filter is loose so that it falls out when you remove the hose. The spray patterns were easy enough to discern with a little experimentation. I bought a 2 inch brass on/off valve with a revolving hose coupling which stays permanently on the unit and therefore always holds the filter in place. Overall, I was pleased with the weight and functioning of the sprinkler and would buy it again.

1 comments about SHIP CURVES 6 PER SET.
- I purchased them for use at a half-hull modeling class. It was nip and tuck whether they would arrive intime for the class work. The pony express was supercharged and the items arrived and were very effective when drawing the various patterns for the hull shape of an old 6 meter sailboat. The order, delivery and use of the french curves were very satisfactory.

2 comments about Lawn Garden / Go Kart Inner Tubes for 15 x 600 x 6.
- when ordered, picture showed a tube with straight inlet,
but what was shipped was a bent inlet. It was hard to use in
in the application I had.
- This tube worked great.
The curved valve stem was a little awkward, but no big problem.
A great, low cost, solution to repair a 10 year old tractor tire ($45) that will now live another ten years.

5 comments about Poulan Wild Thing 18-Inch 40 cc Gas Chainsaw #P4018WT.
- Picked this up at the local home center. Actually my 3 year daughter picked it out for me, mostly based on the color. If you properly care for and maintain this saw it will work just fine for its intended use (around the house). If you work on a crew that cuts trees all day, or you fail to properly maintain and care for your tools then you will be disappointed. This saw goes through a lot of bar oil! Which is fine with me if it keeps it lubed and cool.
The only issue i have with it is there is apparently some kind of proprietary tool needed to adjust the H and L carb settings, or you can rip the case all apart and probably do it by hand. The saw would not stay running for me at first, which I later found from their customer service personnel is due to the recent additon of ethanol to the gasoline. They said to take it to a service center, of which there are plenty locally, and have it adjusted. I can keep it running well enough now and will take it in as soon as i get a chance.
- I've owned this saw for 5 years now. It only gets occasional use throughout the year. I have never had any real issues with it. Still runs strong. The pull cord does stick every once in awhile, but a sharp tap to the side frees it. It's a little finecky when at idle (stalls sometimes), but other than that I've cut more than my fair share of wood over the years for the $150 I paid for it. For being one of the most inexpensive saws on the market and for only ocassional use, I recommend it. If you're going commercial or clearing acres, I would spend the extra cash for a more appropriate saw.
- Today is a sad day. the clutch on my wild thing has frozen up. It made it through 3 hurricanes and mega yard clean ups. I have 6 very mature trees in my yard and a dozen mature bush/mini trees. I put this saw through hell. I left gas in it for a year (AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP!!) I paid about 150. Got my money out of it. However, my needs may require something alittle more heavy duty. If I had to pull this thing twice to start, it was because I did not get a good pull on the first. One time I left it idling on the ground in the back yard when I went inside to deal with the kids. I forget about it, came back out later and it was no longer running. I could not crank it afterwards. The problem was that it idled until it ran out of gas. (once I filled it up, game on) My lawnmower probably could not do that.
The original chain works good. All the new chains I put on there would derail on big limbs and needed alot of adjusting.
I have the wild thing blower also, very nice. Never a problem.
In summary, Wild thing survived Katrina, Rita, but died in Gustov. If you use a chain saw once a week, spend the money and get a nice one. If it is just a weapon in your shed for storms and annuall projects. Money well spent.
I give it 4 stars because it died after 5 years. I believe the part to replace the clutch is $15 at Baileys. I do not feel like spending all day to fix a $150 chain saw when I need a more heavy duty one any way.
- I've had this Wild Thing of mine for 5 years now. I bought it for only $135. I live on 6 acres and have plenty of need for a chainsaw. Yes, it is not a Stihl but it also does not cost $400. I have used this saw both for cutting down trees from 8in to 18in in diameter & 15-ft to 50-ft high to cutting up tons of honeysuckle (which also can be large as many trees). It works great! And, I have never had a breakdown. Yes, the chain sometimes needs adjustment more often than some models but only after constant use for 2-3 hours. Big deal - you have to stop & turn a screw in a few turns.
I have dropped this "thing" numerous times twice from a good height and no breakage or other problems. I think many of these reviwers who gave low marks simply need a course in how to use chain saws. If you make cuts properly with it, maintain & clean it properly, & replace the chain when it gets dull you'll likely not have problems. It always starts very easily in any weather and is overall a great buy for the money.
- I have owned a wild thing for 2 years now. The only major downfall that i have is its lack of power. I dropped mine down to a 16" bar which helped it out alot. So my advise is if you are planing to use this saw quite often as in my case to cut firewood every fall. Dont buy it go with a stihl or a husky. They will serve you much better!! as i am looking for a better one now!

4 comments about Corona Clipper 19-Inch Fixed Tine Shrub Rake with Aluminum Handle #RK62061.
- Like all Corona products this rake combines quality and fuctionally to make it an unexcelled purchase.
- I first bought this rake 4 years ago. The way it's shaped makes it so much easier to use around my barn. The metal handle makes them last much longer and they're much lighter. Standard rakes are too flimsy and steel short rakes are too much. Unfortunately, the only place I can find them is on the Internet, but they're definitely worth the effort to find. I highly recommend them for leaves as well as pasture and barn clean-up.

- This rake can be left in the rain and doesn't rust. Works find four the gravel pathways in our garden.
- Apologies for not submitting review sooner. I just opened up package holding rake today, July 10th, 2008. Since being under severe drought conditions here in San Antonio Texas starting this pass April I really did'nt have anything to rake. The drought did finally break the day before and during the 4Th of July thank God and now I will have some raking to do and by the looks of your product, this sturdy and very pliable feeling rake, it should do the job with great smooth ease and believe me for an achey boomer lady that's just the ticket. Thank you again for your timely delivery of this swell Corona Clipper Rake and I hope to do business with you again in the future. Sincerely, Rosario Elaine Torres

2 comments about Combat Ant Control Bait.
- Short of hiring an exterminator, the home consumer has only a limited set of options. And each depends on the ants you have in your home. I believe mine are Paratrechina longicornis. If you are unsure, trap some in clear tape and bring them to an expert. If your pest control company cannot id the critter, choose another. Knowledge is your best friend. In any event, Terro, Raid and Grant are ineffective against this species. Combat is the only mass-market brand of ant bait/trap I have found to be moderately effective against my problem ants. As in life, experimentation helps, and one of the other brands might be helpful to you. Raid (a similarly packaged, but differently formulated product) works great in the Northeast, but it has met its match in the tropics, where Combat is the prince of ant killers. The king would be DOT (Disodium Octoborate Tetrahydrate) formulations, but that is a whole other story, and a messy one at that.
- I am no ant expert. I have not tried to find out exactly what ants I have. They looked like your average garden variety black ant we see here in the Northeast and Midwest. We had ants showing up through the vents of our house and perhaps through the sliding door. Short of finding exactly how and where these ants where nested we just killed tens of them as we saw them, a rather futile strategy. I bought some of this stuff (Combat) and wow! The ants disappeared like magic in 2 days. They must really like the stuff and given the queen a good dose and voila problem gone. I could not be happier with the result and it's very clean and safe.

- Love this spray bottle! No dripping. Finely controlled mist. Smooth action. I could almost ask for it to be slightly larger, but I'm just glad I'm not standing there with a wet hand and water drips down my leg after using it.
