1 comments about Rodent Smoke Bombs Set - 4 Piece.
  1. I set one of these off inside the restroom of a McDonald's restaurant in central Illinois several years ago. I didn't stick around to see how bad it smelled, and I'm not sure if it killed any rodents inside the McDonald's, but it sure did cause some trouble.

They opened all the doors, and put fans there to blow out the smoke.

Someone reported us to the cops, and eventually we got in trouble and had to fill out police reports. We didn't do any time though. So take that McDonald's.

I'm only giving these rodent bombs four stars because it didn't cause the McDonald's to close entirely. They just moved the senior citizens to the other end of the restaurant and kept feeding them Nuggets.

I'd give the local coppers about 2 stars though. It took them a good 2 or 3 days to find us, even though it was a small town and we were all in the phone book.

1 comments about Terro Ant Killer Dust - 1 lb. #600.
  1. I used this product on a black carpenter ant colony I had living in a planter made of landscape timbers in the yard of a house I bought. Every time you would mow around the planter, or trim around the planter swarms of carpenter ants would emerge from any cracks where the timbers came together. I dusted the perimeter of the planter, taking care to dust in the cracks as well. The next week when I was mowing/trimming, very few ants emerged, and the following week there was nothing. I haven't seen any sign of ants since, so I assume it took care of them. I have used several other Terro products, and I would definitely recommend them as something to try before calling the exterminator.

3 comments about Bell and Howell Ultrasonic Pest Repellers w/ Extra Outlet- 3 Pack.
  1. Do not waste your money. I put 1 in my kitchen. It had been plugged-in for a few weeks. I was baking cupcakes, took them out of the oven, placed them on a rack to cool. When I came back into the kitchen to frost the cupcakes, a mouse was eating my cupcakes 2 feet away from this hunk of crap.

  2. This is a poor-quality copy of other, better products. This one does not emit a constant ultrasonic tone, instead it "blips" every 5 seconds or so, which I do not think is enough to drive pests away. I have used the Sunbeam Ultrasonic Pest repeller (which unfortunately the company doesn't make any more) and that worked wonders keeping spiders and other bugs out of my house, because it had a constant, changing-frequency sound emitted by the device. Don't waste your money on this one. I bought it to keep fleas away after flea-bombing my apartment and they are still around.

  3. We have a certain number of annoying pests around the house. Fortunately, there are no rodents. We have a couple cats and the rodents seem to know better than to show up. I wish I could say the same for silverfish, spiders, earwigs, ants, scorpions and moths. Argentine ants are especially annoying and I have a poison which is sometimes effective. Sometimes it isn't, however.

I ran across this little item: the Bell and Howell Ultrasonic Pest Repeller (model no. SB 104) and picked up 6. It seemed so simple. Just plug this into your outlets and it will emit an ultrasonic blip now and then and the pests will disappear. Plus it's Bell and Howell, isn't it? They turn out good, effective, well-researched products, don't they? I couldn't resist. I took my treasures home and plugged them in: two in the kitchen, two in the dining room, one in the living room and one in the bathroom.

Well, intuitively, I just knew this wasn't going to work but I had a glimmer of hope. Pests around the house are usually just not that simple of a problem. But, it seemed worth a try. Well, sure enough, they don't work. They sit there plugged in and emitting a little flashing light about every three seconds, and presumably an inaudible ultrasonic signal that insects, etc, just can't bear. Well, I haven't noticed that it has any effect at all on the insect population. The ants still seem to be everywhere, including right on the ultrasonic repeller.

I'm going to give these things a longer try, simply because I bought them. However, the product appears to be totally ineffective, as far as I can tell. If you're looking for the magic wand solution to your household pest problems, these Ultrasonic Pest Repellers are probably not it.

  1. This product delivers everything it advertises. Easy to use and rugged construction. I will get many years use from this one.

  2. I have 100 roses that need spraying once a week; I've killed sprayers at a rather fast pace. This sprayer is well thought out and constructed. Ortho sprayers quality continue to plummet, more & more plastic (read easily broken)pieces undoubtedly from China. When I tried to contact them they passed me off to their non-communicative manufacturer, when I went back to Ortho they obviously would not stand behind a product with their name on it. This sprayer has been working out great, the mounting of the handle is perfect and makes for easy maneuvering. The wide mouth facilitates cleaning, a small filter prevents the clogging other sprayers experience. Only foreseeable problem is where the wand connects to the hose seems weak and vulnerable. I'm very happy with this purchase, has made this weekly chore doable once again. It's made in America & has a guarantee as well.

  1. While it did a decent job of cutting the grass, this blade has very little vacuum, and wasn't that great at mulching, and it easily bent. Replaced it with a Gator blade, much improved mulching performance.

  1. The best way to turn a compost heap is to get a garden fork and just go to town, but if you have those closed plastic bins (like I do now), that's not a viable option.

That's why I bought this compost tool and it's better than nothing since at least it helps move the compost around. However, it's not easy to push the tool down into the heap and half the time, the tines don't open up when you pull it back up. The tines are also quite short, so they don't catch much when they do open.

Still, I haven't found a better alternative and if you use a up and down motion (rather like churning butter) it helps somewhat.

In short, I give it a qualified recommendation if you have no other way of turning your contained compost pile.

  2. works great! sometimes it gets stuck and i just have to clean it off, but it works well and i would recommend it to others.

  3. i've had my yard butler for about 1 month. i have one of those barrel type composters that's next to impossible to be able to turn over and aerate the contents, this item works well. the only wish i could have for it, is if the wings that open on it were a little bit longer, i have to stick it into the composter several times to really turn the stuff over. that said, i would still recommend it, it's a nifty tool that solved my problem. ed

  4. For the price, this should work better. I find that the "fins" at the bottom stick together and don't move the compost as well as I would like. I'd also like them to be longer. A pitchfork does a better job. Dissapointing.
