  1. I really liked this book. It was VERY helpful for building a safe rabbit house. Any one that is getting a rabbit or already has one and wants to build a new house for it, I think this is the book for them.

  2. Bunnies need to move about, interact with toys and people, they are very intelligent creatures. The should not be caged indoors or outdoors, that means NO HUTCHES.

Let them roam in a bunnyproofed home and litterbox train them, they will be very happy bunnies :) :).

This book is SEVERLY out of date. If you do want to build a cage for them, it should be indoors and VERY large and only used every so often (like when it is unsafe for them to be running around the house).

Rabbits are not rodents as many think, they are in an entirely different classification, 'Lagomorphs'.

  3. The Storey guides are the best and informative publications I have bought. Having bought expensive books that said the same thing as the Build Rabbit Housing: Storey Country Wisdom Bulletin A-82
by Bob Bennett does I highly recommend this publication first and foremost. The information is easy to read, illustrations etc easy to follow. Save money as well by putting the money you would have put toward an expensive book on the subject, toward other rabbit needs.

  1. This book is my ticket to the orderly and uncluttered life that has been eluding me. It's not only effective, but also well-organized, besides being entertaining to read, because of the way the author presents his material. I have bought an additional copy as a gift (for someone who asked to have it!), and I know she will be happy with it, too.

  2. I love this book!! It really makes you want to jump in and start decluttering. It is funny and he knows how to relate to the reader.

I try to reread this book before every spring cleaning!

  3. I love Don's books, particularly the decluttering books. I believe he coined that phrase, or should have. It's a joy to read, the examples of other peoples' excess make you shudder. And if these books aren't enough encouragement to get up off your duff and change your environment for the better (and cleaner) I don't know what is. Highly recommended.
I think he's written four or five declutter books (I have them all) but I'd love to see him write another one. Five stars.

  1. Great tips on selecting and using home use pressure washers. Helps you to operate the units right so you are not as likely to damage what you are cleaning. Factors you will learn to consider include: spray angle, distance, nozzle pattern, and the ratings of the unit you select.

Good treatment of the subject with lots of pictures. Far superior to any other book on pressure washers that I have seen.

  2. This book was over priced. It deals strictly with Brigg&Stratton equipment and was of little use to me as I had bought an electric washer. It's fine for B&S owners but not much good otherwise.

5 comments about Parenting Young Children : Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (Step) of Children Under Six (#14302).
  1. Purchased this book about two months ago, when my son was five, and learned from it tremendously. Wish I had it before he was born so I could have understood his "misbehaviors" from the beginning. Better late than never! Every page of the book is easy to read and implement. The examples given were exactly what I was experiencing. The book shows you how to change and it's up to you whether you want to become a better parent. I hope you purchase it - it's worth the money.

  2. This handbook provides a great foundation for conducting discussions and introducing positive discipline practices to young parents. It is simply written with each chapter introducing a new skill. I have used it for the past several years and although I supplement with extra information from various sources, it remains the core of the Parenting Class that I teach.

  3. This is a great aide in the many challenges of parenthood. I have found it useful over and over again.

  4. The basic point seemed to be that if you pay attention and listen to your child all will go smoothly. This seems like a no brainer. Would you be buying the book if you weren't paying attention? The suggestions for discipline, although practical, were very basic. For example, have faith in your child, notice effort, listen for feelings, teach them to cooperate. Most parents already know these things.

  5. Parenting Young Children by Dinkmeyer and McKay. I have used this book for years for teaching parenting classes to young parents who have trouble setting limits on their children, to stop yelling, repeating themselves, and how to start listening and understanding behavior. I now give it to new parents for their first born.

5 comments about The Well-Ordered Home: Organizing Techniques for Inviting Serenity into Your Life.
  1. Don't let the size of the book fool you - just because it doesn't take an encyclopedia sized book to get her ideas across does not mean they aren't profound, easy to internalize, and life changing.

I recently had the pleasure of taking a seminar on the Well-Ordered Home taught by Ms. Kendall-Tackett at a La Leche League conference and I was so impressed I ordered the book the next day.

It's not too simple to be true - this little book can help you get your home in order so you can spend more time enjoying life!

  2. My first reaction to this book was one of disappointment. I thought it was too general and too short. However, since I've read it, I keep finding myself referring to it and implementing ideas I found in it. Many of the things I already do and I found this book affirming. I like her phrase 'Start where you are'. After reading her overview, one can always look for more information to cope with specific problem areas, like clutter.

  3. As a born-organized person now facing clutter problems due to homeschooling my young son, I'd purchased this book hoping to find new perspectives on battling paper monsters and the inevitable slew of books, toys and crumbs that kids generate. Sadly, there is nothing new in here.

"Handle paper as it comes in" is something you can read at free websites on home-organization. Ditto for "keep a nice box or bin in each room to stash toys in at the end of the day."

But you'll have to read through various chapters to put that together: the author is continually bringing up a topic (e.g., closet organization) then promising "I'll go into that more in Chapter X." Well, guess what: each 'chapter' is only 2 pages long. How much organizational advice do you REALLY think you're going to get in 2 pages?

This book does not recommend any particular system, does not discuss advantages or disadvantages of the varying home-organization products out there, and doesn't even suggest routines or schedules you can adopt for your day.

What it does do is dispense saccharin, simplistic advice -- spend 15 minutes per day sorting through clutter and discard what's broken beyond repair; what's outdated; what you don't love, use or need; do a little bit every day; keep supplies where you need them; replenish supplies as they're depleted; and don't set your expectations unrealistically high.

There, I saved you money. I wish I'd saved my own, and also wish that the hour I spent reading this slim, trite book had been spent organizing my kitchen cupboards (yet another thing this book does not tell you how to do).

  4. While the author certainly gives good pointers on how to order a home, the presentation is just.... barren. No color, nor illustrations, drawings or photograps except on the cover. A thin book on coarse paper.

The text itself is also rather austere: she just tells you, two or three-page chapters, how to manage a certain problem. No anecdotes, no examples, no babbling. What she tells is worthwhile, though.

If you want a short book, that can be read in 2 hours, and are prepared just to do what she tells you, this is a good book. If you need more, this booklet might leave you feel a little light handed.

  5. I really appreciate the author's writing style of this book. I like the short, simple chapters that can be refered back to again and again.
This book helped me develope a positive mindset towards organization.
It's helpful to realize the impact organization can have by reducing stress and saving time. This is not a book for someone already organized that's looking for grand innovative ideas. The ideas are pretty basic and simple, but were very useful for me.

5 comments about Black & Decker Advanced Home Wiring (Black & Decker).
  1. Buyers who expect this book to describe wiring for completed homes are in for a rude surpise. This book details wiring for a home under **construction**. But the other details like photographs and description are excellent.

  2. Published in 1992, a follow up to the Basic Wiring and Electrical Repairs book put out also by Black & Decker, this book has great photos and easy to understand explanations covering how to do more complicated electrical tasks. While the first book was repair and maintenance, this book moves into renovation and remodeling, with chapters on project planning, tools & techniques, Wiring a Room Addition, Wiring a Remodeled Kitchen, Installing Outdoor Wiring. From this book I learned how to install new breakers in the main fuse panel, a project I was terrified of trying. This really is a very good book for the non-professional. Now the two books are combined in the 2001 The Complete Guide to Home Wiring by Black & Decker

  3. The better buy is "The Complete Guide to Home Wiring - 3rd Edition : Includes Information on Home Electronics & Wireless Technology (Black & Decker)" (ISBN: 1589232135).

It contains almost all of the info in "Advanced Home Wiring" but much more for about the same price. Same pictures and also published by Black and Decker/Creative Publishing Iinternational.

Double the size much more on home wiring. I own both and was able to compare.

  4. 90% of the information from this book was published in The Complete Photo Guide to Home Improvement by Black and Decker. If you are going to spend the money just get the Complete Photo Guide instead of this book.

  5. This has good information, although not greatly different from what is found in the complete guide...

5 comments about Casa Adobe.
  1. Many people find the lines and textures of an adobe building at once seductive and compelling. This book is all about the unique aesthetic of houses made of mud. Third in a series of four books on popular residential design in Mexico and the Southwest, this book contains photos of spectacular adobe homes, inside and out, in New Mexico, Arizona, Texas and various places in Mexico.

The book documents the evolution of adobe from its historic past to its most modern applications, including interior details and architectural elements. The authors chose well the buildings they use as examples for their premise that "adobe is an old tradition with a new future," the recurring theme of the book.
    --New Mexico Magazine, May 2002

  2. Casa Adobe depicts homes, haciendas and holiday getaways that have blended handcrafted details, natural materials, and cross-cultural furnishings to express the elegant simplicity of adobe homes, from their humble beginnings to their current renaissance.
    --Natural Home Magazine, December 2001

  3. Casa Adobe is a terrific source book for those contemplating living in an adobe or any other earthen style home. Photographs with informaive descriptions tease the casual reader, while those already familiar with Mexico, Arizona, and the Southwest immediately jump head first into the well-written, beautifully illustrated text. Joe P. Carr and Karen Witynski take you to Sante Fe and the surrounding areas with early photographs of adobe structures. Then you are taken to country and contempory homes and structures that best reflect what Casa Adobe is all about. The last chapter of the book is especially helpful foranyone interested in adobe, stucco, or rammed earth homes. It gives sources and individuals to contact as well as galleries and suppliers. My next purchas will be Casa Yucatan, written and photographed by the same collaborative authors.

  4. "Earth was used to create farmhouses in France, cottages in England, castles in Germany, and missions in California and Arizona. Eighteenth- and nineteenth-century adobe buildings still stand today in New York, Boston, Virginia, and South Carolina." ~ pg. 35

The cover picture is a picture of Mision de Sol, a resort and spa with vibrant colors, dramatic waterfalls and beautiful adobe walls. Throughout the pages we are introduced to textures, interiors, surroundings, traditional adobes, modern adobes, adobe escapes and building materials needed to create a rugged home with romantic appeal.

The decorative iron sconces with glowing candles are inspiring and the use of reflective pools and lush plantings adds artistic appeal. I loved the bookshelves in a room with a chandelier, table with a vase of lilies and rough terra tiled floor covered with a beautifully textured red carpet.

    ~The Rebecca Review

  5. I purchased this book in Carmel, California. We then moved to Florida and my sons rabbit basically ate the book. I was so upset and thought I would not be able to replace it. I found it on Amazon and purchased it. Of course it was used because you cannot buy it new, but it was in great condition. I collect these types of books and would have been heartbroken if I could not replace it. Thanks Amazon!!

  1. I love books of household hints. You need several different ones, so you can choose the right tip for your situation. This one has tried-and-true solutions for cleaning, crafts, cooking, gardening, home repair, and laundry.
It's enjoyable to see things that were common knowledge to our grandparents and great-grandparents, but may have been forgotten in today's use-it-and-toss-it lifestyles.

  2. I gave this book as a gift. My daughter was very happy with it, not only because of all the information, but also for the entertaining style of the book. Reading it is fun.
