1. This video is junk. The first hint was the Chevrolet ad on the front cover of the VHS box. Then the first 3 minutes is an ad for a Chevy van. Half way through the video they make a trip to the hardware store, in their new Chevy van. They then explain that these ads are important because the video would have been more expensive if they didn't have the advertisement.
   
   In the video all windows and doors went into perfectly level and plumb frames. No trouble shooting or hints. For example they installed some new french doors. He says, lets check to see if the threshold is level? Perfect, ok, let's nail it up. Oh, and they hammer in all nails. No pneumatic nailers or cordless drills. 1/3 of the video is watching them hammer in nails. What a waste of my time and money.
   
   If you want a great video "Tom Law" has an excellent video. "Gary Katz" has a very good book and so does "Scott McBride.

1. I bought this years ago when remodeling my house. It was accurate and easy to follow. After watching it, I replumbed my entire house. A plumber came to check out the work and offered me a job.

1. This video is greate for those of you with minor wood working skills and want to take on the world of Cabniet Making. The video is outdated, but the know how still applies today! I started by building cabinets for my work shop to get a start. I followed Paul's instructions and walla... It worked. I just finished building a mobel Kitchen Island and it turned out great! Nice base cabinet, dove tail draws and a tile top (tiles are not covered in the video). I'm now moving on to building a wet bar and this video has made this possible. This is the only video, that I could find, that just focuses on Cabinet Makeing. I think it is a good video to take any novice wood worker to the next level!

2. I've shown this to my Electronics class before introducing students to housewiring techniques. It's a good intro, but not hold you on the edge of your seat exciting. The characters are good at what they do. I'd recommend this video to Vocational / Technology / Industrial Arts Teachers and to those attempting to tackle a home wiring project.



3. Dean Johnson (Home Improvement Expert and host of the PBS "Hometime" series) takes you though the steps for "Electrical Installation and Connections" in this "How-To" Videoguide. Like the entire Hometime series, you will get a complete description and total view of the techniques you need to do the job like a pro. From choosing the right tools, selecting the most cost effective materials, how to avoid expensive mistakes, and get your project done on time. It's reasonably entertaining - while demonstrating the details of the craft.

   A nice touch is the handy on-screen index you can use to quickly locate the information you need. The steps illustrated are:

   1. Basic Principles
   2. Install boxes and running cable
   3. Making the connections
   4. Outlets, switches, lights, and GFCI's
   5. Installing appliances
   6. Connecting the service panel
   7. Putting your new wiring into existing wiring
   8. Understand 3 & 4-way switches

   Be sure your copy includes the HOMETIME Electrical Project Guide.
