2. I've shown this to my Electronics class before introducing students to housewiring techniques. It's a good intro, but not hold you on the edge of your seat exciting. The characters are good at what they do. I'd recommend this video to Vocational / Technology / Industrial Arts Teachers and to those attempting to tackle a home wiring project.



3. Dean Johnson (Home Improvement Expert and host of the PBS "Hometime" series) takes you though the steps for "Electrical Installation and Connections" in this "How-To" Videoguide. Like the entire Hometime series, you will get a complete description and total view of the techniques you need to do the job like a pro. From choosing the right tools, selecting the most cost effective materials, how to avoid expensive mistakes, and get your project done on time. It's reasonably entertaining - while demonstrating the details of the craft.

   A nice touch is the handy on-screen index you can use to quickly locate the information you need. The steps illustrated are:

   1. Basic Principles
   2. Install boxes and running cable
   3. Making the connections
   4. Outlets, switches, lights, and GFCI's
   5. Installing appliances
   6. Connecting the service panel

1. I bought this book after a devestating blow from hurricane Ivan. After reading it from cover to cover I decided that it was a job left to the pros. I was a good read and helped me in knowing what to look fro as the men were replacing my roof. I also caught a few mistakes they made and had them coorect them before they left the site. Even if you never roof yourself a knowledge of the subject is a good thing to have.

1. By reviewing this video, I was able to make my grandmothers house much safer for her.
   The author of the video also recomended some great products that I bought, to make my Grandmothers every day tasks much more convenient. I bought the the products that the author suggested from my local Osco drug store, so they were very easy to find.
   This video is great!



2. This video was great for my Grandmother to watch.After she reviewed it, we went down to our local Osco Drug store and purchased a few of the itme that the author suggested.
   This video has made my grandmothers house much safer and convenient. Every elderly person should watch this video and make the added adjustments to their home enviroment with the equipment that the lady suggested in this video.
   Now, I do not have to worry about her when I am on the road!!



3. INCREDIBLY informative. The video offers the necessary information for those that care and are taking responsibility of their family and friends. After reviewing the information, I realized there were situations that needed to be addressed for the healthful daily living of the ones in need. I was also reminded of what a small investment and a little time could do to improve the day to day struggles . The video also offered a personal peace of mind that I have done everything I could, to help and prevent situations that present themselves during the days of elderly living.
   After watching it, I've only wondered why it took so long for someone to realize the needs of those that brought us into this world....and that's were I'm reminded of the caring intelligence of Mrs. Linda Schlenker, the author of this video.
   A MUST SEE VIDEO....and Iook forward to the success of this information for the good of everyones health.



4. I actually bought this video too late. Both my mother and mother-in-law fell within 24 hours of each other. These women are not what I consider "elderly"- in their early 70's - and healthy. However, their balance, depth perception, bone strength, etc., are starting to deteriorate.

   My mother-in-law is facing a very lengthy rehabilitation on her hand & wrist, and my mother still has pain when walking. This all could have been avoided if we had followed some of the very simle and easy to implement techniques that Ms. Schlenker demonstrates. Don't wait until it's too late!!!!!




5. A fall can have serious consequences for seniors. This well designed, informative video is a must have for seniors living on their own and wanting to stay safe and maintain their independence.

1. I recently saw this video and the other 2 in the series. I think highly of this framing series and would recommend it to anyone looking to frame walls floors, and roofs.



2. If you answered "Yes," this is the right video to purchase. As a matter of fact, you should seriously consider all three of Larry Haun's videos in a series that includes not only this tape, "Framing Walls," but also "Framing Floors and Stairs," and "Framing Roofs." In addition, I strongly advise the companion book to this video series entitled, "The Very Efficient Carpenter," also written by Larry Haun. If this title is hard to get in VHS, you can also order the same series on DVD.
   
   The money you invest in these videos and the companion book will pay back big rewards in your safety on the job, your ability to work more efficiently, and knowing that the carpentry skills that you will learn from this series is explained in very specific detail from a master carpenter.
   
   In closing, this series of videos and the companion book are for people that want to learn to build their own home from the foundation to the roof, and for carpenters like myself that are constantly striving towards our goals in becoming master carpenters that take pride in our craft and trade like Larry Haun.

1. My wife gave me the "This Old House: A Dream House" video series and I watched all 9 hours in one weekend. It is frustrating to watch This Old House on PBS and have to wait the whole season to see how the project turns out, but not with this video! They cover everything from demolition to wallpaper. A definite bargain.



2. The Milton House restoration was, in my book, the best This Old House ever. As the programs got underway, one could tell that the "stars", Norm, Steve and Tom, were all pretty nervous about this massive undertaking. As the programs progressed and the house became beautiful once more, their relief was almost palpable. This project and the resulting video doesn't seem as "sawdusty" and some of the other "get in, do the stuff and get out" type. The only thing I didn't agree with was not really keeping the house "historically correct" and the fact that most of the stuff they put in the house is beyond any normal person's reach. But other than that, I would leave a smoke trail if anyone offered me the opportunity to live in that "house of dreams"

5 comments about Organizing from the Inside Out with Julie Morgenstern.

1. This video is a very enjoyable and effective summary of the method to organize described in the corresponding book. It does a far better job at that than the book because the book has the method burried in 250 pages of advices that are not as essential as the method. The author herslef is the host in a studio using before/after pictures and videos of places she organized. The method consists of A)Analyze; B) Strategize; C)Attack. To Analyze one must ask what is causing the clutter, what is working, what is not working, what items are most essential. To strategize one must devide the room into activity zones and store items at the point of use. Finally one must attack the SPACE by Sorting, Purging, Assigning a home for objects, Containerizing and Equalizing.
   Before you tackle a major organization project it is better to spend the 1 hour or so watching this video than reading the book. You will be immediately ready to organize instead of being paralyzed with so much written advice.



2. I bought the book several months ago, flipped through it, and had been meaning to read it since then. My house is so cluttered that I felt I didn't have time to read it, and half the time, I couldn't even find the book. When I saw that Julie had published a video version of her book, I thought that I could set aside that much time one afternoon to watch the video. It actually took 3 segments of time to watch it due to two toddlers and my husband, but I watched it and was inspired. I think I learned everything I need to from the video, although the book includes more details. I think it's easier to get started just with the basics than to be overwhelmed with information, anyway. I actually learned information that I can use this time, and what's more, I'm putting it to use! I highly recommend this video. Also, Julie Morgenstern is really likeable, so it's fun and inspiring to see her on video.



3. I have "packrat syndrome". My landlord is threatening eviction. I feel so invalidated by everyone who belittles me and can't understand how vital I feel things are. And when people "Help" me out by throwing my things away I feel violated.

   I haven't had a chance to use the system yet but I got a library copy I feel I can't give up. I have watched it several times,(more on the how to start part.) I feel that finally somebody understands where I am coming from and is validating my feelings and rights. She has created a system that takes my personhood into account instead of just the culturally expected way of life. She says organizing is about identifying what is important to and getting access to them. To celebrate your abundance if you feel deprived. Get a beautiful trunk and create a pleasant trip down memory lane and take it often so you don't have a need for so much volume.

   I have recomended it to several friends I am so excited and loaned it one who is right now watching it the 4th time.

5. If you are naturally disorganized, or if you are fairly organized, this is a simple video, yet its magical. It really is a simple yet exciting and fun video. Outstanding job. She actually shows true common sense throughout the video. Its one of those videos, that if you have time for one organizing book or video. I think this is definately the one.
