3 comments about Seaside Style for the Home (Home Crafts).
  1. I bought this book thinking it was another book by Andrea Spencer. Much to my dismay when I received the paperback of "Seaside Style for the Home," it was the exact same book as "Seashore Style, Decorative ideas inspired by the spirit of the seashore." All they did was change the cover and the title. It is an excellent book with great ideas and a true feeling of being by the sea. But I wish they would have said somewhere in the listing that it was the same book.

  2. I live in a land locked state, but love the sea. This book not only has great photos, but great ideas to bring the sea side to your home. It's a small book, but packed full of wonderful projects. Simple ones with easy to obtain items. Enjoy!

  3. This book has some great ideas that anybody can do at home. Very realistic projects. Even if you don't do any of the projects, guests will love to look at it.

1 comments about Tailoring (Singer Sewing Reference Library).
  1. Photographs and photographic instructions are fantastic as well as thorough. What makes this book different from most that I have seen on the market, is the photographic instructions for every phase of development of the suit jacket. Most tailoring books just have drawings that can be quite confusing, and keep you guessing. Many people who attempt to make a well tailored jacket, ending up giving up on their projects soon after they begin due to becoming frustrated and overwhelmed. There are not many books on the market about tailoring anymore; and most books are not totally dedicated to tailoring as this books is. Those that are published for the purpose of instructing tailoring techniques, do not have the colorful photographic step by step instructions for every phase of development of the tailored jacket that this book has. You may see some photographs for some phases of developing the suit jacket but not all of it. So if you are someone who is interested in developing your sewing skills professionally, you should definately buy this book! If you are studying fashion design, you should buy this book!

5 comments about Construction Forms and Contracts.
  1. I purchased this book to help build my house. I am the general contactor for the job and I thought I would be able to find some form for the sub contractors to sign. This was not the case and it really wasn't any help to me at all. It might help someone who is starting their own business but not for someone building their own house.

  2. I'm new in this business and this book help me to make construction forms and contract so easy.

  3. This book is super-great in every way. The forms are pretty darned good, but mostly, the book itself is exactly the right thickness to level up my dining room table. So when I'm not whipping out some quick construction contract form stuff, I can enjoy a meal without the table wobbling at all. The cover is colorful too- my pet ferret likes that. Highly recommended.

  4. I bought this book and CD, To do a $700,000.00 Building Contract. What a joke! I wouldn't do a $5,000.00 contract with this book. It's way to basic to protect anyone.

  5. One reviewer wrote that the form's are simplistic, he was nice they are useless, I thought i would take a look at the book myself, thinking that maybe i could edit and revise some of the forms in order to better suit my needs. Not a chance, these things are worthless and you can find the same type of forms floating all over the net - google for free.. It's hard to believe that there are some place's selling this book for it's cover price around $50 or so. Even with Amazon's great price this book was returned!

5 comments about Home by Design: Inspiration for Transforming House Into Home.
  1. This book has wonderful design ideas if you are working with an architect designing a new home, if you are or remodeling an old one. If you already have a home and want to incorporate her ideas, it might be a little difficult. It is a very educational book with beautiful photos, however, I wouldn't recommend it if you aren't planning on doing any major renovation or construction.

  2. This book is fun to own. Lots of good ideas that can be realistically applied. The pictures are beautiful and the writing truly energizes and inspires one to look with new eyes at the way space is used not only in ones own home, but also in public buildings and spaces which one occupies as daily life is lived. I refer to this book often, and would recommend it to anyone interested in beautifying and simplifying their environment.

  3. GREAT!

  4. I found this book to be well laid out and full of good ideas for not only planning the construction of a new house but for doing renovations as well. Reading this has mad me want to buy her other book about Small Homes.

  5. We are in the process of building a house and this book has been exceptionally helpful for framing what we really want.

4 comments about 50 Easy Weekend Scroll Saw Projects.
  1. This is an excellent collection of interesting patterns for the beginning to intermediate scroll saw artist. There is a brief introduction that includes tips on wood selection, use of patterns and finishing. There is also a list of suppliers. Familiarity with the scroll saw process is assumed and the patterns can be resized on a copier to fit your needs. Many of the patterns are versatile and can be used for different applications.

Although there are a few of the standard cute animal wall hangings, shelves and such I found many different and useful ideas here. There are Chinese character trivets that go with my Oriental themes and a nice puzzle ball. I think the outstanding piece in the book is a free-standing plant stand that can be sized as needed. This beautiful item is shown on the front cover and is a solid piece of furniture that could be enlarged to be an occasional table with a multitude of uses. A wastepaper basket and flower pot stand in a similar style are also included.

There are a number of very nice corner and wall shelf patterns with sophisticated designs including wildlife and a beautiful ballerina. Another of my favorites is a mirror frame capped with a delicate scroll work pattern. With all the scroll saw pattern books out there I found this one to have plenty of unique and useful projects to make it a welcome addition to any collection.

  2. This book covers mostly amatuer to advanced skill levels. It has a few projects for beginers, but not many. If you are not a beginer, this is a great sourse for some cool, fun projects.

  3. This book has been a great pleasure to work from. There is a nice variety of objects to complete, although I would have loved the book to be twice the size!

For the price, it is a great deal and has patterns that provide something for everyone!

    I highly recommend it!

  4. I wasn't very pleased with the patterns in the book. They were all very similar. There were only a few patterns in the book that I actually liked.

4 comments about Home Makeovers That Sell: Quick and Easy Ways to Get the Highest Possible Price.
  1. We own a San Diego interior design company (Anna Rode Designs), and frequently are called on to give advice to home sellers on ways to make their homes stand out from the crowd without spending a fortune. This book is an excellent reference for homeowners, who should take their advice seriously. Of course, it can't provide design advice like interior designers can, but it is full of sound pointers that any homeowner can do: de-cluttering, brightening rooms, cleaning, painting, eliminating personal items, and so forth. We recommend this book to our clients.

  2. Plenty of books tell how to buy and sell homes and others how to remodel; but for a specific book on getting the most from a remodel project, HOME MAKEOVERS THAT SELL is the item of choice. Here are tips based not on home renovations but on over twenty years of experience as a real estate broker; from creating curb appeal by replacing shrubs and refinishing a driveway to using accent lights to make the most of a home's natural beauty. Any involved in home renovations and home sales needs this, so public libraries will find it a popular lend.

  3. As a Realtor I use this book as an aid to clients on how to prepare their home for the the competive real estate market. I use many points of the book when speaking with clients.

  4. This book really motivated me to make the necessary improvements to my home. I had been procrastinating a long time!

5 comments about Design on a Dime: Achieve High Style on a $1,000 Budget.
  1. I've looked at many, many home decorating books lately. This is the only book where the basic house and furniture looks like the mix-matched hand-me-down stuff I have. Going on a shopping trip to France for antique furniture is just not an option for me. I appreciated the everyday practical approach to design and decorating. Some of the designs are not my style but I found a lot of inspiration. I do wish the book was a little more detailed in the before and after pictures.

  2. After watching the show, I eagerly grabbed the book. Flipping past the designers' bios, I gazed in dismay at the uninspiring photos. Somehow the rooms look less on paper. Less high style, less creative, less appealing...
Maybe seeing the dismal "before" room on TV, and watching the team transform it, grabs the viewer. On paper, it is too static with the views too limited to excite.
Still there are some useful do-it-yourself projects such as making a padded storage cube. The room arranging kit, consisting of graph paper and some furniture shapes to cut out and arrange is pretty ho-hum.

  3. The book showcases some of the ideas from the show - with pictures, explanations and instructions for some projects. I also have "6 Steps to Design on a Dime" and I like it better - more useful info and nicer pictures.

  4. My mom thought they were too bright, but if you like a clean more modern look, this is the book for you.

  5. Perfect for getting ideas for designing your own home on a budget. Elegant designs, but financially feasable.
