2 comments about Land Developer's Checklists and Forms.
- Very good format. The organization and format will help to build confidence for new developers. The author breaks down potentially complex issues into manageable chunks of information. The step by step format provides a great resource for real estate professionals thinking to undertake into land development.
- Although this book gives good examples and PDF downloadable forms I found it somewhat lacking. An explanation of pertinent forms would be beneficial. If you're looking for good examples this book gives you that, but expect to consult an attorney and other industry specialists for your real-world application.

3 comments about Build Rabbit Housing: Storey Country Wisdom Bulletin A-82.
- I really liked this book. It was VERY helpful for building a safe rabbit house. Any one that is getting a rabbit or already has one and wants to build a new house for it, I think this is the book for them.
- Bunnies need to move about, interact with toys and people, they are very intelligent creatures. The should not be caged indoors or outdoors, that means NO HUTCHES.
Let them roam in a bunnyproofed home and litterbox train them, they will be very happy bunnies :) :).
This book is SEVERLY out of date. If you do want to build a cage for them, it should be indoors and VERY large and only used every so often (like when it is unsafe for them to be running around the house).
Rabbits are not rodents as many think, they are in an entirely different classification, 'Lagomorphs'.
- The Storey guides are the best and informative publications I have bought. Having bought expensive books that said the same thing as the Build Rabbit Housing: Storey Country Wisdom Bulletin A-82
by Bob Bennett does I highly recommend this publication first and foremost. The information is easy to read, illustrations etc easy to follow. Save money as well by putting the money you would have put toward an expensive book on the subject, toward other rabbit needs.

5 comments about Tage Frid Teaches Woodworking: A step-by-step guidebook to essential woodworking techniques (Tage Frid Teaches Woodworking).
- Tage Frid presents a book that is well organized and insightful. I thought I had a good working knowledge of wood movement and joinery, but Frid offers some points that will help you make furniture that will last generations. The text does contain black and white pictures that can be hard to see, however, if you follow along in the text it will be clear what is being depicted. To address an earlier comment, this is an instruction manual for people interested in the finer points of woodworking and IS NOT a book for "crafty" people who think it would be chic to have a book about woodworking. Frid has been working wood for more than 50 years and his experience and expertise show through in this well written text. If you are interested in making fine pieces of furniture, then this book is a must read!
- This is, quite simply put, a fantastic book that every woodworker should own. I highly recommend this book for many of the reasons that others have already written about. Trust their impression...this is a great book!
- I haven't always been as much of a fan of Frid as others but no one can question his command of woodworking. I think that his stools are some of the nicest designs anywhere. His technical knowledge of woodworking shines here in this book. He is an obvious master of his craft. His books are much more oriented toward 'doing' than James Krenov's books and many people will find it much more useful. There is a wealth of information here, not only in brute technique, but in tips and hints that make shop life a little more pleasant. I learn a bit more each time I read it. Good book.
- To the point with great explanations. Black and white photos are just fine for contrast clarity. This book is a great cover to cover read. Each page has an illustration. He explains the advantages and disadvantage of different type of joinery (for example) and how to accomplish each task by hand or machine and various machines (eg. dovetails on a band saw, by hand, by table saw.) Best woodworking book I have ever purchased and I have purchased dozens.
This Tage Frid fellow knows a thing or two about wood. :-)
- Today, there's Fine Woodworking, which covers some basics along with advanced tips in random order. But if you want to start at A and march on to B, especially if you've never had any help, this is a great book to take you there. Tage Frid (rhymes with hey kid) was renowned for being a generous and excellent teacher. This is his legacy. One of the features I like best is the pictorial recap of each step in a process, showing what cut to make first, then next... it makes sense of all the steps. Very basic, yes, but that's where great woodworking starts.

2 comments about Building Information Modeling (McGraw-Hill Construction Series) (Mcgraw-Hill Construction Series).
- Well organized, well written. Provides information about model composition which most books on this subject do not include. Very informative. Organizations looking to move down the BIM/VDC path should definitely take the time to read as they will learn a great deal about the process changes needed to effectively utilize 3D models in their workflow.
- I was interested in this book because it seemed less like a "how to" book and more about what makes this technology work. It has not disappointed on those issues at all. Very rich in information. The biggest weakness I have found is that the author clearly favors certain software packages over others, which I can understand... everyone has their preferences. However, when discussing Autodesk's Revit platform, I found the book to be overly biased and sometimes, flatly, mistaken. This issue does not however, severely detract from the overall value of the information. Where the book seeks to discuss BIM without focusing on specific software, it is without equal. As long as you aren't making purchasing decisions based on the information, anyone familiar with the basics of BIM will find it fascinating.

3 comments about Managing the Construction Process: Estimating, Scheduling, and Project Control (3rd Edition).
- The book was shrink wrapped but it was damaged. Not sure if it was the fault of the publisher or the seller but in either case I expected a better product.
- Required reading for a construction management course.
- This book is very helpful and applicable to the real world. It goes through good examples to get a grasp of the development process.

4 comments about Residential Framing: A Homebuilder's Construction Guide.
- Spence's book is the most easily read reference I have seen on basic house framing. Excellent diagrams of everything from batter boards to installing crown moulding. Good info on scaffolding and other saftey items. Good basic reference on lumber grades and markings. I have consulted this book during every project from my shed to my addition and deck.
- Consider "Carpentry & Building Construction" by the same author. It seems to include most of the content of "Residential Framing" plus much more.
- Excellent diagrams, well-written, very thorough. If you can swing a hammer and have some basic mechanical inclination, this book will be invaluable. Or, even if you have a really good idea of what you're doing, this book will fill in the holes of your knowldge and you'll frame like the pros. This is probably the most useful book I have ever bought - on any subject.
- So nice to see such a quality book that cover every detail big and small. It is my building bible! Every one who either owns a home of wants to do a building project should make this their first purchase.

4 comments about Building Stone Walls: Storey Country Wisdom Bulletin A-217 (Storey Country Wisdom Bulletin, a-217).
- Very good resource for a bulletin sized book. Great tips on basic safety as well as mixing mortar, obtaining stone, etc.
- This is just a summary of McRaven's larger book. Not really worth the energy as you can get the full book for a few dollars and it certainly IS worth reading and owning. Both items lack a discussion of lime mortar for building and preservation. McRaven believes (at least from what I read) that a Portland based mortar perhaps type K or O is vastly superior to a Lime mortar also called type L (no Portland) I think the issue is more complicated and one must take into account the masonry units used in building and there relationship with the mortar. Certain stone may be fine for Portland cement (... the material described in this book) but other stones (sand stone or handmade brick in particular) will suffer from the rigidity of the stiff mortar. READ lots before you repair or build. This book in its full size is great background information
- This is a tiny pamphlet that contains readily common knowledge which could be found in a magazine or internet article. Not really worth the trouble.
- I found the suggestions about safety, various methods of lifting heavy materials and the general description of rock wall building extremely helpful. In fact, he has some ideas of lifting large (heavy) rocks that I did not find in the other books I purchased and it has been just the right advice. However, when using this book as a guide, if you do not have "perfect" fieldstone or limestone rocks to lay, it leaves you wondering what to do with the rocks you have in YOUR yard. Since I live in the west and we have an abundance of volcanic "not so good" rocks which I wanted to use, this booklet was of limited assistance in helping me figure out how to use the rock I actually have available (and for free too, except for the labor of finding and hauling them). Great slabby rocks are unusual in this part of the country, so a book telling how to lay only nice, flat on-all-sides rock was of limited assistance. Thankfully, a 1976 Building Stone Walls by John Vivian (Garden Way Publishing) helped me figure out how to use what I actually have to build with.

2 comments about Plumber's licensing Study Guide (Plumber's Licensing Study Guide).
- The book is very comprehensive and gives a very accurate picture of what to expect on your plumbing exam. It makes learning the code fun and you will find out what you don't know quickly. Use it in conjuction with your code book to look up areas you are weak in. If you can answer eighty percent of the questions in the "Study Guide" correctly you will probably pass your test. It's the best book of its kind. FIVE STARS.
- This book won't be used till winter so can't review at this time. Thank you
Should be able to enter ? or 0 on your scale if necessary
