- I haven't use the item as of yet, but I did test it and than compared the measurements to my Compound saw and found the saw was off.
I had tried to cut molding before and they would never fit (because of the saw) and so I had to hire a professional, but now with this product I look forward to cutting angles on wood anytime!
I'm so glad this product is here and I look forward to making my projects sucessful!!
- I recently installed crown mouldings to the cabinets of my kitchen, this tool saved me a lot time, I measured the angles, went to my miter saw, set the miter to the angle provided by the tool, and made a perfect miter joint.
- This product makes an novice look like a pro! It makes mitering easy as reading a scale and transferring that number to the miter saw.........perfect each and every time. Wishin' I had this yards of stock ago.
- This tool eliminates all trial-and-error from cutting crown molding, cabinet making, and other critical carpentry jobs. It is as precise and accurate as my radial arm saw and my chop saw, and it requires no batteries, it fits in my back pocket and is as dependable as my square. Great tool!
- Having worked in and around machine shops all my life, the name Starrett became synonymous with quality. Recently, however, I purchased a Starrett Miter Saw Protractor model 505A-7 and was shocked to find that Starrett is no long is concerned about accuracy. The instrument I purchased was clearly off my at least one half degree while the package label screams "laser engraved accuracy". My research indicates Starrett knows of this issue and has chosen to ignore it; seems wood workers do not "require accuracy" according to Starrett.
This could have been a really great new product. It is novel and well made but I would advise Starrett to track down the person in their organization that developed it and "fire" him. Everything a company produces reflects that company's image and this one says Starrett has developed a new business strategy, "caveat emptor ".

5 comments about Victorinox Swiss Army Classic Pocket Knife (Silver Alox).
- The review by "Barry" was right on. After reading the review I realized this was the little knife I wanted. I did not need the tweezers and toothpick. The little knife is quite small and as noted not as thick as the regular Classic Swiss Knife. It is top quality and well made...
Norm
- The first thing that struck me when I got this knife is that it was very thin. I believe the lack of a toothpick and tweezers makes it slightly thinner than most Swiss Army knives; it fits nicely on a keychain and is darn good to have around. It's quite sturdy feeling, pretty nice looking, and best of all, it's cheap. I think it would make a good stocking stuffer.
- If you carry one of these, you'll forget you have it. The Alox are extremely thin. High quality.
- This knife is a great size for people who don't want a bulky pocketknife to lug around. It's solid and feels like it could withstand a beating.
- This is a rugged, versatile, and classy knife. The aluminum housing is solid yet lite. A little more expensive but worth the extra.

5 comments about FULLER 130-8030 30-Piece Combo SAE/Metric Hex Key Set.
- I agree with the previous reviewer. The multitude of sizes is terrific - the case is an abomination. Most of the little plastic tabs that hold the keys in place were broken off on arrival. Several more have broken since I started using the set. This makes it impossible to use the case to keep the keys organized. If you purchase this set, plan on devising an alternate means to store the keys.
- I prefer these types of loose keys to the pocket-knife sets since they require less room to use. This particular set contains all of the keys I've ever needed for electronics and home repair, and then some.
The smallest keys I cannot see using, since I've never seen a hex screw that small, and I'm sure it would bend or break with the required torque.
Like the other reviewers, I agree that the case is horrible. I keep the whole thing in my tool chest drawer so that it's not tossed around but still cannot seem to keep the small keys in their place. Fortunately, the large ones--the ones I acutally use--do stay put.
This set is the most expansive of the ones I've seen for sale here, and still recommend it despite the problems of the case.
- Good set, really really lousy case. Case was broken on arrival. It's a piece of plastic, couldn't they have splurged 2 cents and made it extra-nice?
I bought this set pretty much exclusively for the smallest hex keys, they are somewhat hard to find, but I broke one of them just taking it out of the box - it's not that they are badly made, it's just that they are too thin to be practical, if you need a key this small, I would suggest just drilling out the set screw or using tweezers to screw it in, there is no way a hex key that small can do the job.
Conclusion: I'd buy it again, it's a good set for the price.
- Well please with both the product and the prompt shipment. These tools have been so handy when it comes to small item repairs.
- Has every size I'll ever use and a bunch I wont. As said in the other reviews, the low quality case leaves a lot to be desired.

5 comments about Leatherman 830025 Fuse Pocket Multitool with Leather Sheath.
- If you primarily don't do anything past basic repair work at home or at work, the Fuse has you pretty much covered. It comes with the basics such as knife, scissors, ruler (metric and English) and pliers. I'd recommend this if all you want is a Leatherman that's useful for light work and basic things for around the house. However, I'd recommend something else if you do construction or repair on a daily basis or want something that can do a lot more. Essentially, I consider the Fuse to be an "urban tool".
- I carry this Leatherman at work and it does everything I ask of it. Each tool works as it should and the knives are sharp. All around great tool.
- I work with weapons in the army, and so far this is a great letherman for small parts, it can take a lot of damage but not as much as a gerber, but i still like my leatherman because its smaller and it has what i need to do my job, for example it has a longer flat head, the gerber's is to short, over all its worth buying.
- I'm writing this in Iraq, where the Leatherman Fuse may not have saved my life, but it has saved me tons of time and frustration. Not everyone can lug around a tool box, and trying to get specific tools over here is a pain (or a rip off). I purchased my Fuse at a surplus shop before deploying and paid considerably more... but it did come with the nylon sheath which I prefer to the leather one.
The screw drivers helped me fix my bike, the stamped in ruler helps me measure 550 cord and the scissors help me cut it. I keep it on my belt, and on the rare occasions I get a care package, it helps me open it. :-)
Design thoughts: It's small and lightweight-just the bare-bones. If I was to redesign it, I'd have put a hole through the joint and gotten rid of the lanyard ring (who hangs a leatherman on a lanyard anyway?) to free up space for a saw or something else (there is already a bit of a gap there). It would have also been nice if one of the screwdrivers had a file on it, adding an extra feature without taking up more space.
- A neighbor's son is a US Marine and requested a Leatherman for his upcoming second tour in Iraq. He stipulated it should be inexpensive as well. I ordered two Fuses, one for him and one for me, on the reccommendation of a previous review by a US Army sargeant.
I can understand why these tools are so beloved. I've only had this little device for a few days but I REALLY like it. It folds to a compact size, is reasonably durable, and has a huge number of tools contained within its frame. Its essentially a tool box on my belt. It has a place with my wallet, eye glasses, and keys.
#1 upside: I have large hands and the handle is just right for me. The grips are perfect as well, non slip without being sticky. Definitely engineered in America for Americans.
#1 downside: Sometimes you need to manuever around the wire cutters in the jaws of the pliers to grip a bolt. To me, it was a bit tricky at first, but that should be the worst thing about this fantastic little device.

5 comments about CH Hanson 03040 Stud4Sure Easy To Use Magnetic Stud Finder.
- I was considering an electronic stud finder, but read so many inconsistent reviews. Then I found this simple magnet which easily finds metal studs, along with nails stuck in wooden studs. You could use a strong magnet instead, but the plastic coating on this stud finder doesn't scratch up youf walls(or walls paint). You'll save yourself money, time, and disappointment with this stud finder.
- With a little care, this WILL work on plaster and lath walls.
Very impressed--a simple but very effective and invaluable tool.
Sounds obvious, but just be careful before you drill--it's good to know where your house's electric wiring is...
- I purchased the Stud 4 Sure because of the great reviews. It does work well on normal drywall, detecting the screws. I thought it would also work to find the nails that attach the lath. It doesn't. I had to go back to guessing with my zircon detector.
- This is a simple product, a very strong magnet for its size, encased in plastic which senses the nails or screws that hold up the sheetrock in a wall or ceiling. No moving parts. No batteries. It works and I don't know how it could be broken. My wife bought one for me and I just bought three as gifts.
- The product works perfectly one a wall that is dry-walled. It's easy to use, and it never misses.

5 comments about Pro-Quality 3/8" 10-80 Foot-Pound Automatic Torque Wrench.
- Works well. Reading the settings requires my reading glasses, but overall, I am very satisfied.
- I am a full time mechanic. I did not feel the need for a snap-on wrench at this time because i needed this wrench for the lower value foot lbs. The wrench works well and is accurate and should last me awhile with heavy use.
- For a once-in-awhile use this is a FINE tool. I suspect a mechanic wouldn't want to use it day in a day out, but for the price it's nice to have around.
- The Pro quality 3/8" 10-80 Foot Pound wrench was needed by me as it also does Newton measurements which I need for my motorcycle as everything on it is metric. It handles both. Good product, reasonable price and a handy carrying case to boot.
- I ordered this wrench because it described Newton-meter measurement. Here's a quote:
"Hard-to-find lower torque settings in 3/8" drive; 10-80 foot-pounds (13 - 108 Newton-meters)"
In actuality, it has Ft-lbs and m-Kgs and comes with a conversion chart. Which is precisely the reason why I didn't order the Sunex torque wrench.
This wrench is crap. Use your money to get a better quality brand.

5 comments about Bessey DBWH Quick-Change Folding Utility Knife - Wood Grain Handle.
- This an excellent knife. For the price, the quality of the workmanship is impressive.
Pros: Real wood inlay, sturdy construction, excellent blade holding mechanism,
Cons: Heavy and slightly bulky. (I don't know if these even qualify as negative aspects of this knife. Some may view the weight and bulk as quality. In my case, the utility knife I replaced was aluminum, so there was a significant difference.)
That being said, I would buy this knife again.
- Seems to be a very high quality lock-blade razor knife. Accepts the standard double ended utility knife blades. Blade can be changed in a matter of seconds and in my opinion more safely than many utility knives out there. In addition, optional hook blades can be purchased making it a good alternative for the expensive skinning knives without the hassle of sharpening blades.
- As soon as I took this bad boy to work it got raves. The wood grain is nice yet not over the top. The metal is nice and sturdy the the lock for the blade is secure. A few guys have said they feel that it is too heavy but I feel that it is safer because you are forced to control the blade more.
Great great product. I'm super happy with it!
- Fabulous knife I use it everyday at work and it still looks brand new. IT ALSO IS MADE VERY WELL AND HOLDS UP TO THE TUFFIST OF CONDITIONS. I even dropped it several times and it hardly even left a scratch on it. A must for the serious worker or homeowner who needs a good knife.
- Well made knife, if a little big to carry in your pocket.
This knife uses standard sized utility blades, meaning that you'll have no trouble finding what ever kind of blade you want. From super cheap throw away blades, to high quality blades that will last a long time. Because it uses full sized blades, it is a little bit on the bigger side of pocket knifes.
The wood inlay is well done, and the knife certainly has a solid feel. It opens and closes easily and smoothly, and the blade change mechanism is easy to use.
My only thought is that for the size of this knife, they probably could have found a place to store some extra blades, but that's not to detract from how nice this knife is.

- This is one of those tools that you wish you had invented yourself. I've hung several items and it made hanging things easer. It kept my hand out of danger and I like it. This is worth every cent I spent.
- These two"holders" protect your fingers from being damaged while trying to hold small nails, brads, staples, screws and the like. You can also use these tools to "reach" spots that your fingers cannot, so starting the above items in tight areas is a much easier procedure... I made a prototype of this tool a few years ago but never got it made; I'm glad these folks did, so I could buy theirs... One improvement would be for the smaller tool to fit inside the larger tool saving some storage space.
- Great for holding nails in those hard to get places. Equally as great for using small nails that are hard to get a hold on. Great idea and great product.

5 comments about Bench Dog 10-016 Trim-Loc Casement Trim Installation Tool.
- It does just what it is designed for - assists in laying out measurements for molding and trim. It is fairly easy to use, once you get the hang of it. The directions are somewhat vague, so it took a bit of practice to determine the best way to mark the cut lines on molding. Otherwise a real handy product that easily fits in your tool belt.
- I bought 1 because I was going to be installing new trim on all the doors in my house, and then got a second from my wife for christmas. It was actually a good thing. I have the first one nailed down on a lond piece of 8" wide Pine which I use to measure the length of the cut that I need. The second one I carry around with me and use to mark the door jam for measuring, and then to line up the trim for install. I reccomend using a nail gun instead of a hammer because I found you need a third hand when trying to use the hammer and the tool.
All my reveals were perfect, and the miter cuts were right on.
The main diffrence between the metal and plastic is that the metal tool is 1/4" reveal and the plastic is 3/16" reveal. I thought 1/4" is a bit much, but the 3/16" looks perfect. For those worried about using a plastic tool, it has held up perfect for this project, and will be fine when I go to replace all the trim when I replace the windows.
This is a great tool, and really sped up the time it took to install the trim.
- Use it to do the trim on the inside of a whole house. Cut the time in half. Very few recuts with this.
- This is a handy tool that takes a bit of getting used to.
Pros
You put it to the casement much like a speed square
It automatically gives you a 5/16 reveal
You can drag it along the casement to scribe your line, if you like
Is handy to push molding against to nail
Grooves for automatic length measurement
Con
The slots for hooking rule too small for Stanley Fat Max
- This might be useful for a DIY newbie, but any pros thinking it's something a tool junkie needs to hang trim- forget it. Just another solution looking for a problem.
