5 comments about DMT W250FCNB 10" DuoSharp Bench Stone Fine / Coarse - No Base.
- Other than what seems a steep $100 price, diamonds are the way to go for sharpening chisels. The large size is really nice. The two grits are good for general chisel sharpening.
- Excellent product for honing a perfect edge for those hand tools. Get a coarse, fine and extra fine stone to dress those tools to perfection.
- Fantastic product. Beats sharpening stones hands down.
I will purchase the extra fine/extra coarse stone soon.
Would definitely buy the base to go with the stone.
Its about 4" wide which makes it useful for plane blades.
- Great product;much better than the original DMT Bench Stones. The extra width
really helps when sharpening plane irons.
- After buying any number of "pro" quality stones, sticks, machines and gadgets, I should have saved my time and money and bought this to begin with, Id have saved a mint. With two sides I can do just about all I need without fear of burning, unless I want a polished edge.

5 comments about Stanley 87-793 10-Inch Long MaxGrip Adjustable Wrench.
- I'm not a big tool junkie, but there's no mistaking the quality of these tools. All the MaxGrip tools I've tried have been outstanding, and this one was no different. They're rock-solid and extremely comfortable. You'll never want to use a tool with bare-metal handles again.
- Since I didn't own any tools, I didn't have to replace any with Stanley's maxgrip line. These tools are more comfortable in the hand like OXO good grips items.
- This wrench is comfortable to grip, easy to set to nut size, and solid enough for the residential weekend handyman. All in all, a good wrench at a very reasonable price.
- There is nothing truly special about this wrench. It does what it is supposed to do. The grips are comfortable, the size scale could be of use in some circumstances and there is very little play in the adjusting mechanism. I have not had the opportunity to test its strength or durability. Otherwise I would have rated it 5 stars. This review also applies to the 6 inch version of this wrench.
- A really nice wrench compared to the simple forged all-metal ones. Very ergonomic and nice to hold. Also provides some extra grip in wet situations.

5 comments about Sonin DT110 Inchmate Measurement Conversion Calculator.
- Good construction Calutator at a good price. I know a person who paid over $50 for a construction calculator at Home Depot. I don't know what extra special functions that one has over mine but we do the same job and my calculator handles it fine. And it does the job just as fast. My only complaint is that you have to hold the function button in order to save a value to memory. It's just a little thing that shouldn't bother most people. I like the sliding protective case. And there's a place for you to write your name on the case so you can spot yours from a distance.
- As an architect, this calculator is great for everyday use. It's simple, inexpensive, and easy to use.
- This is a very nice calc for anyone who constantly measures using feet/ inches. Kind of tricky due to the function keys you have to push to program fractions but once you get use to it, its a snap. If you are in the architectural field, construction or just doing a home improvement and you find yourself having to add and subtract fractions constantly, just buy this! It will save you some time as opposed to adding and subtracting common denominators.
- this calculator is the easiest to learn and to use great for carpenters
and all other trades.
- Coming from a country that uses Metric, I purchased this as some of my woodworking plans come in Imperial measurement, and its handy to have a calculator that can convert between the two measurement types on the fly. This calculator will do that just fine. The only gripe is that entry and conversion could perhaps be a little more intuitive. It is a bit fiddly in some regards but it does get the job done.

5 comments about Freud EB-090 Hand Trimmer for Edge Banding.
- Easy to use. Does a perfect job. Works smoothly and doesn't require a lot of strength
- I build cabinets as a hobby and use about 500 feet of edgebanding a year. I was getting sick of using a razor knife, router and sandpaper to flush the edges. So I decided to spend some money on "the right tool". But after trying the Freud EB-090, I would not recommend it.
On the positive side, it is faster and safer (than the way I usually do it). But clearly outweighing those advatages are the following... - you need a good, sharp blade and these are not blades you can sharpen yourself. Replacement blades cost half-again the price of the trimmer. - I just can't get good results. Hand pressure and other factors affect the quality of the trim. I could improve results with more practice, but my decision is to return the gadget and spend the money on a good trimming knife and bandaids.
- When I purchased this tool it worked fabulous! Now since I've had to replace the blades I cannot get the same results. There are no instructions on blade replacement setup at all, even on their website. Now it sits in the drawer and I'm back to sand paper and exacto knives.
- Great little tool. I use a lot of plywood in my little projects. I like to cover the edges with banding and this tool is great for making it look smooth and natural.
- I used to use the one sided trimmer. It gave terrible results. Now that I use this double edge trimmer, the banding comes out clean and sharp. It does not follow the grain of the banding as most of you may think. Just keep a consistent, snug squeeze and run it in one swift, quick movement. Nice crisp edge. A bit of sanding to break the edge and move on to the next one. This trimmer is worth every penny.

5 comments about Alltrade 150003 Auto-Loading Squeeze Utility Knife.
- I just can't get the hang of this thing. At first, when I tried to change the blade it just spit them out on the ground. Now it won't change blades at all. It's also dirty from use, and I think that's jammed up the mechanism. So, for around the house use, it may be great. But on a worksite, I'm not so sure. Maybe I'll clean it well and WD-40 the heck out of it and see.
Also, because it's so fat at the cutting end, it's difficult to use a level as a cutting guide; you need to use a thin ruler or similar.
I prefer my little foldable utility knife; blade changes also don't require a screwdriver and are fast. And it's much smaller. If it only had blade storage, it would be perfect.
- I use this for cutting up boxes while working at the local library. I like the large handle. Some of the 'ordinary' cutters I have used tend to stick when sliding the blade in and out. As a result, I often leave the blade exposed when not using the knife. This one works easily, so I am more likely to retract the blade before setting it down.
Changing blades is quick and easy. I haven't found an easy way to simply switch ends on a blade, so I may end up not using one end of a blade.
- I bought one of these about 2 to 3 years ago and I use it every day to cut open boxes. It has been used hard and abused. I dropped it one day and it fell right on the open blade on a concrete floor. The blade no longer locked open, so I took it apart and tried to fix it. Unfortunately there is a small tab that broke off that I could not fix. So I order 3 more to replace it (we like them that much). When they came in I noticed that they had a LIFETIME WARRANTY. So I figured what the heck I would send it in and see if they would cover it ( I was not expecting it to be covered considering to take it apart you must cut the rubber backing and it was really BEAT UP )
Well today I just got a package in the mail. They sent me a brand new one. I could not believe that they covered the abuse that we put it through. I will definitely buy from Alltrade again.
The only thing that keeps this from getting 5 Stars is that some times when you are cutting something hard and you push the release button the blade will retract. So you just have to get used to holding it with out hitting it.
- I've abused this thing every way that I can, and like a Timex, it takes a licking and keeps on ticking! Works great and is easy and safe to use.
- I'm just a homeowner and not a professional but I'm hard on my utility knives. I drop 'em. I break 'em. I lose 'em. I jam 'em. This is the first one that takes it all and just keeps ticking.
As others have pointed out, the blade is either retracted or fully-extended - there are no partially-extracted positions. So if you want a knife where you can extend the blade just an eighth inch this is not the one for you. But the action on the dollar knives that can do an eighth inch cut usually gets stuck after about a week anyway.
But it is sturdy, has blade storage (contrary to another reviewer - you can see the blade storage door in the picture), changing blades is screwless and very easy, the hard rubber makes it easy to hold securely and comfortably, and the 6 included blades are very sharp.
To me the best thing is the action - snap it open, snap it closed, put it in your pocket safely and pull it out next time you need it. Someone commented on the "close button" being tough to operate - if you gently squeeze the "open" lever while pushing the "close" button it works very smoothly.
I just need to spray-paint it RED so I don't lose it!

5 comments about Stanley 12-951 SpokeShave with Flat Base.
- The Stanley 12-951 Contractor Grade Spokeshave is a good first spokeshave. It is easy to fine tune and easy to use. I was a bit disappointed in the sharpening of the blade and it had a rough sole plate, but with a little bit of work it is a nice piece. If you are looking to do your first work with a spokeshave and don't want to spend a lot of money on it, this is the tool for you.
- This is a nice, solid and well made tool. As other reviewers have noted, it wasn't terribly sharp, the blade had grind marks on it, and the sole is a bit coarse upon arrival. After some sharpening, and lapping down the sole and the cap it is really good. No need to spend more that is for sure.
It is easy to find good illustrated guides to tuning up a spokeshave through a web search, and it only takes about half an hour to do.
- I got this spokeshave to use in my bow making. It will take about 45-60 minutes with wet/dry sandpaper from 80 to 600 or 1500 grit to flatten and polish the bottom and to give the blade a good edge, but then it will really make some shavings. It even works decently on ipe.
- I do not use a spokeshave very often, so I was looking for an inexpensive tool that would get the job done. The Stanley Spokeshave was a good choice though I was surprised that the tool arrived in such a poor state. I didn't expect the blade to be sharp, but I did expect it to be flat. It wasn't. Had to spend time flattening the bowed blade and then spend time grinding and polishing the sole of the tool to insure that it was also flat. If your looking for an inexpensive tool and have an hour to tune it up, this would be a good choice. Tool worked great after tuning.
- This is the first spokeshave I've purchased or used and it worked great for me. I have recently ground the bottom face smooth as a couple other reviews said to do, however when I used it to shape my cabriole legs it worked great as is. The cast iron handles give a solid and easy feel. It was necessary to hone the blade first as is to be expected. I was happy to see that it was made in England and not China also. I have several Stanley planes that work great. They take a bit to get adjusted just right but when they are set I'm happy.

3 comments about Stanley 66-039 6-Piece Jewelers Precision Screwdriver Set.
- You may not need these types of screwdrivers often, but when you do need them, nothing else will do. They're great for tightening eyeglass screws or opening up the cases of small electronic devices.
This is a nice set. It comes with 4 slotted and 2 philips style in a variety of sizes. They seem to be well made and I suspect that they last a long time. The swivel heads allow you to put downward pressure on the screwdriver as you turn it to minimize the risk of stripping the head on delicate small screws. The case has a labeled space for each screwdriver. It's your typical plastic case with a snap top and should hold up as long as you don't step on it or drop something on it. This set is a nice value for the price.
- The Craftsman small screwdriver set is for everyone. It is handy and comes in a convenient little case. It uses are endless and for the price I think it should be a staple of any man's tool set.
From watches and glasses to those small screws on computers there is a screwdriver in this set that will fit. It is reasonably priced and remarkably convenient. I highly recommend making this a part of everyone's household.
- I have some electronic equipment I was trying to disassemble, and I was disappointed that the phillips heads were not "precise" enough. The set should be adequate for most purposes, but if you are looking for very small phillips heads, they aren't here. But to be fair, I don't think other offerings are any better.

- This is a great idea but because of it's head size it's limited in it's applications. I love it for my wife because she can use to take the wheels off the kids bikes if she need to transport them. It defintiely does what it's supposed to, the nut or bolt just needs to be very exposed.

5 comments about Leatherman 78108003K Juice XE6 Pocket Multi-Tool, Storm Gray.
- The Leatherman Juice XE6 is a great tool. Its slightly larger than I anticipated but is still small enough to carry around easily. The blades are razor sharp as I have found in other Leatherman tools I've owned and the pliers come in very handy for small jobs. This sure beats carrying around even a small toolbox for pliers, screwdrivers and the like. The one thing I do miss is having a nail file to clean out from under my nails after a grimy job, but I can always use the awl for that. Overall, this is a great tool to have on hand.
- When I was looking for a multitool, after I determined which features I wanted, my choices were narrowed down to the Juice XE6 and the Wave. They are very similar in features. A couple of things the Juice doesn't have that the Wave does, locking blades and interchangeable bit drivers. I decided to go with the Juice for a couple of reasons. First, it is smaller. Second, I usually wear shorts without a belt when its hot and I wanted to be able to put the tool in a sheath and hook it onto my waistband. The sheath for the wave has a belt loop, more reliable but of little use without a belt. So far, I've had it a couple of months, I am happy with my purchase and would recommend this tool to anyone looking for a multitool but who would like one a little smaller than the full size Leatherman tools.
- This is a great multitool. 2 knives (straight and serrated), a saw, scissors, file, and much more. the design of the tool is fantastic. the only downside is that it is a little bit too heavy to carry around everywhere. This thing cant go in mesh shorts or other light pants. It is just too heavy. Still, a fantastic tool. I feel like I am ready for anything. I wish something would break so i could fix it.
- I've had the Juice XE6 for about 3 years and it has typically always been in my pocket. I would have given it 5 stars but if you actually use the flat head screw drivers with anything which requires a decent amount of torque, they get nearly impossible to open due to them bending, using a harder steel would prevent this.
- I bought this for my husband serving in Iraq. He had a Leatherman before this, not the same one but was sold on the Leatherman product. This is a great little pocket tool with multiple uses. Actually more than most other models out there. The size is perfect. Not too big and not to little. Love the color as well. As far as pricing, this is the best site to go to for this product. I originally bought the same one in purple at REI. I paid $103 at that store. Just doing some price checks online, I found this one $40 less expensive and a more fitting color for my husband. He loves and it and I feel great about my purchase choice on Amazon.
