5 comments about Black & Decker BDSL10 36-Inch Gecko Grip Level with Accu Mark.
  1. The level has a nice solid feel, and the rulers are incredibly helpful for spacing hangers (either for one hanging that needs multiple hangers or trying to hang several items in a row). It feels relatively sturdy, especially for work around the house.

The only thing I would like to change about the product is that it does not come with either a holder or a built-in tool for marking where to drill - the black & decker stud finder that I have used comes with a small plastic tool that punches a small hole in the drywall which would have been perfect.

  2. This level worked great for hanging most of my large frames. The only problem I found was for smaller frames (<16"). The Accu marks are not able to move close enough. Otherwise, I would recommend it.

  3. Bought this for $20 on Amazon while it was on sale. It was a steal at that price. Good level. Definitely worth $30. I would go to the hardware store if you need something a little more 'professional' though. Still, for anyone doing work around the house (especially picture hanging!), than this is a good level to buy.

  4. I have been trying to hang pictures for some time now. They all have been uneven. Finally I can get them straight and even. I love the holes on the level that allow you to nail the nail in the exact spot and with no time and effect at all. The length is great so no matter what size you need to hang, you can. Everyone needs this tool as part of their inventory for home or office.

  5. this thing has great features (love the movable targets) but I wonder how reliable and exact the vials are.

  1. I really think this is a must for the homeowner or car owner. It has everything you might need for an emergency repair or a home fix.

  2. Product was exactly as described on-line. Shipping was prompt and in good shape. Product was given as a gift so I am not sure about the actual quality of the product...but looked like it would hold up under occasional use.

  3. Yes, rusty at delivery. I don't mind buying something cheap and receiving something really cheap. No complain, you get what you paid for. However, receiving brand new tools, celled in box, and having the surprise to see they'are already rusty, that's... too much for me.

  4. This is a great product for the price. Strudy and just enough for the self-made handyman.

  5. This set of tools are very cheaply made.

For example, the wrenches' edges were not flat & straight, which made loosening or tightening bolts very difficult, if not strip them completely.

Also, don't be fooled by "160 pieces" claim, 104 of them are small nails, screws and picture hanging fasteners.

I would not recommend this tool set at all. Matter of fact, I have already returned mine to Amazon.com for full refund.

5 comments about Leatherman 830160 Surge Pocket Multitool with Leather Sheath.
  1. I have had two previous products made by Leatherman, both of which gave me good service. I am pleased with the variety of tools that are on this model and really like the replaceable blade/file idea. I broke the file off from my last model.

I had the new tool for two days when I used it to twist some fencing wire. One side of the pliers snapped off almost immediately. I sent the unit back using the warranty process and it arrived back fixed within two weeks. Apparently the pliers don't handle a sideways torque too well so I will be more careful in the future. It has held up well when cutting wire since then; I don't think I'll try twisting it again any time soon.

  2. This larger Leatherman tool is the best yet! I've been using a Leatherman tool since the inception, and "won't leave home without one"! I'm pleased!

  3. it's a great tool and handy too. looks really nice and the finishing is quite good though the pack it came was labelled made in China; which i thought was an all american made...anyways that doesnt tarnish the brand name. the only difficulty i had is to change the blade. still i havent been able to do that. so if anyone out there knows how to do then let me know. my email add is anil_doc@hotmail.com

  4. This is my first Leatherman tool, I had always bought the cheaper brands before hand, thinking a multi-tool is a multi-tool, but this Leatherman has changed my mind. It is definately the multi-tool to which all others should be compared to. Everything is easily accessed, and is made to last a lifetime, I can even buy add ons such as extra bits for the screwdriver. I definately recommend Leatherman multi-tools, you can't go wrong.

  5. I read these reviews after ordering this as a pro deal from the manufacturer. I was a little scared after I read some of them.
Now that it arrived and I have had it in my hand all my worries are gone.
It fits my hands just right. It feels like a solid and bomber tool. I love the easy blade access.
Now, in the case it seems about cell phone sized. So, on a belt it does feel big. I don't really mind though. The case would get a 4 or so and the gadget would get a 5 so really this should be a 4 and a half.
Now, as you read that this is just right for my hand, bear in mind that I am 6'2" and 250 lbs. This may feel big to average people. To me though, just right.

  1. Pulley removal tool worked as advertised. It took two people to break bolt loose, tool held pulley stationary.

  2. It enabled me to do the job and for the right price from Amazon.
    'nuff said.

  3. Tool worked just like it's supposed too. Can't live without it if you plan to work on your Honda.

  4. This tool is a must have to change the timing belt on a Honda Accord. It worked perfectly and is of high quality. The amount of force required to remove the crankshaft pulley bolt on these cars is just unbelievable, and the tool held the crank steady with no problem. I highly discourage anyone from trying to do this job without one of these. If you try to wedge something into the flywheel or elsewhere you will almost certainly end up damaging the car or hurting yourself.

  5. This tool worked like a charm. Took me all of about 2 minutes to break the torque on that damn bolt. Worth every penny. Fast shipping too.

  1. This is a decent key chain tool. It has 2 flat head screwdrivers, 1 Philips head screwdriver, a bottle opener, a wire stripper, a small blade (Xcto type), and a pry bar (made up of the 2 flat head screwdrivers). It is best if this tool can quickly unhook from your keychain to use the small blade. It isn't an atwood, but it is close.

  2. Gerber 22-41770 Artifact Pocket Keychain Tool

The Gerber Artifact provides a convenient, replaceable razor sharp blade in your pocket at all times. While the screwdriver features are not the greatest, they do provide a workable tool when you don't have a toolbox handy. Not sure about the prybar feature, but it will probably be useful for extracting nails from the walls the next time I move. And, when moving, I am sure the bottle opener will come in very handy... =)

  3. SAVE THE THUMBS. I love my Gerber Artifact tool, but there's one issue. The blade arm is difficult to swing out from its safety position for use. After weeks of daily use, I learned the hard way and sliced my thumb to the bone trying to open it. As I type this, my thumb is hovering unused and bandaged over the keyboard. Since then, I think I've figured out a safe way to open the blade arm and I wanted to share it to try to spare the thumbs of others -- use a coin to pry the blade arm out from its safety position. A quarter fits perfectly in the slot near the key chain loop on the tool. Stay safe.

  1. Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2N4232YH3G4VQ Mike Schilli shows how to use the Black&Decker Power Scissors to open a new product in a clam shell.

  2. Like most people that gave it 3 stars, I bought it to open those annoying plastic vaults in which consumer products are entombed -- however they remain impervious to all attempts at cutting.

  3. The main purpose for these scissors was to open plastic packaging and they are not strong enough to do the job. Even fully charged, they just stall out when you start to make the first cut.

  4. Recommend-sew for a living making custom childrens clothing. When I cut out a pattern, I like to cut out 4 at a time, these make my job much easier. They cut well on curves and angles. I would purchase again when the time arises.

  5. I picked up two of these at a Big Lots in Birmingham, Alabama, for 12 bucks each. They were the models that came with the table mounts. I got them with the table mounts since my mom has limited use of one hand, so I figured that the table mounts would help her. I have since found the model that doesn't come with the table mount at Big Lots for a mere 8 dollars each.

Regardless of the model, these things work GREAT. They are primarily used for cutting open those stupid plastic clamshell stuff comes in, but they also come in handy for opening/cutting a variety of other things. Sometimes you may need to cut a starting hole with a knife, but big deal, once that is done these scissors will easily cut through plastic, cardboard, and other reasonably lightweight products.

For anyone who gives these scissors one or two stars they (1) had higher expectations for them than reality can provide or (2) simply got a defective products in which case they should return it and get another BEFORE rating it.

Do I recommend these? Yes, but shop around for a better price.

5 comments about CST/Stanley 77-910 TLM100 FatMax Tru-Laser 1/4-Inch at 100 Feet Laser Measurer.
  1. I am an appraiser and typically wear out 3 to 5 fiberglass tapes a year measuring houses. I had purchased a sonic measuring device which was pathetically unreliable unless you were measuring a short unobstructed inside corner to inside corner. The laser is a huge improvement in that it gives you pinpoint accuracy for measuring point to point, but don't throw your tape away. The laser is great for certain measurments, but not practical for others. the addition/subtraction feature is really handy. Using the tape and laser together priceless. Probably cuts my measuring time down by 30% to 40%.

  2. The product works as advertised. It is inexpensive and easy to operate and it is very accurate but seriously product designers, would it have killed you to make the sides squared off? The bottom surface and surface opposite the laser side are relatively flat but when the product is placed on either of the narrow sides it aims at an angle. What is the point if it is accurate to 1/8" over 100' if you have to level it with your eyes? If you are off by a few degrees that makes the accuracy more in the neighborhood 2". Call me picky, but I put "perfectionist" in the title for a reason. It would be a five star product if it were brick shaped but the little frilly curves and angles easily knock it down to two for me.

  3. The first blister packed unit I bought from Home Despot was 3/4" off in 10' which was not as accurate as promised and far too inaccurate for my use. HD was good about replacing it but it took me 5 units (opened and tested at the store) before I found an accurately calibrated unit. Check before you pay! I've been using it pretty regularly for nearly a year now and wouldn't be with out it.

  4. I bought this for my husband because he measures floors for his job. Before this, he used the regular tape measures and it would break in 6 months or less so we decided to invest in this laser tape measure. He said that it's very accurate, quick and easy to use. It only needs a 1/2 in. of wall space to measure.

  5. I work in architecture and I often have to take as-built measurements of projects. I borrowed one of these and it was a great compliment to a traditional tape. Ordered my own shortly thereafter. Great for long overall dimensions and to confirm multiple tape readings. Cut my measuring time in half which, in this business, is appreciated time savings.

I highly recommend the product, but would caution against throwing out that old tape measure. This is the right tool for certain tasks - long, straight measurements, but keep the tape handy when the distance is too short or you don't have a clear line of sight. It works exceedingly better than the old sonar kind and the functions are pretty intuitive after a few minutes.

5 comments about Stainless Steel 6" Digital Caliper with Extra-Large LCD Screen - Instant SAE-Metric Conversion.
  1. It might not be the best caliper on the market, but for the $$, it was well worth it.

  2. This company was very efficient in mailing and safe packing the shipped product. The producct itself is fine. I use it to measure the thickness of out going mail, since the postage rules have changed. I titled this review A Basta which means "enough already" simply because I HAVE reviewed this product already under the previous reviewing method. I don't like reviewing, but do so because others' reviews have been helpful to me. But please Amazon, let's rein it in here.

  3. The item was received fast. It looks very good but have one little sticky point around 2.5" on the scale. However this does not hamper the accuracy. I tested this with a calibrated Starret 6" caliper and it was dead accurate throughout the range. Cannot expect anything better. The zeroing feature at any point and instant conversion from inches to metric is very handy. Comes with a strong protective case. Overall this is an excellent product!!!

  4. This tool is perfect for how I intend to use it (for measuring stretched ear jewelry). The mm and inch measurements are just what I need. Shipping was also pretty fast, even to Canada.

  5. I received this product in a timely manner. I would recommend this product to anyone.

  1. Nice set, nice case, nice price. The deep sockets are really good to have. Quality seems first rate. Unless you are a professional mechanic, this should meet all your needs.

  2. The tools are a good value for the price which was $36.00 for me with free shipping. They do not compare to Craftsman, but they are good for small jobs. The only issue is the case. It feels like a cheap plastic and seems like it won't last very long.

  3. was a little disappointed with this purchase initially but after a coupla days use hey seem to be holding up well.

  1. I was very pleased with this product,it is small with a large dipsplay and has a lazer to aid in aiming along with a backlit display.
It works great for a infared Thermometer, compact and lots of fun checking
out temps of things. It comes with a soft case also.
I am very pleased and worth the extra money.

  2. Great product, fair price and super fast shipping. This is a quality meter and I would recommend it to anyone needing temperature control accuracy.

  3. So many other people have raved about this tool, and I feel like I need to, also. This has to be the best idea Fluke has come out with in a while! Not only can you use it to determine temp on the job, but you can use it in whatever your temp needs are. I think the only thing it wouldn't work on would be your kid's body temp, but other than that, I would use it for anything!

  4. I purchased one of these and entered a room that was 34 degrees Left the fluke 62 in there for a couple hours while I was in there. Four separate thermometers in various locations all read 36 and the flue checks the same area's at between 22 and 28. I haul produce and I I had relied on this it could possible cost me several hundred or thousand dollars in damages. 34 is cold, 28 is froze. This variance is unacceptable. When I showed the person running the warehouse he laughed at me and offered me a look in a drawer. He pulled it open and there was 5 of the same exact things. He told me they are a joke and that I wasted my money. It may be great at 500 degrees but at or near freezing it's useless.

  5. Fluke great quality. Easy to use, works well. I use it to check AC exit temps, automobile diagnosics, even the temp of my griddle and barbeque.
