- The secret to this tool is the offset blades; this allows you to cut any size package without the handles getting in the way.
The blades are very sharp and cut through the plastic very quickly.
I keep these in our kitchen junk drawer; my spouse uses them to cut flower stems before putting them in a vase.
I've never used the screwdriver; I think this was a "throw-in" to make it more attractive ("Honey, look, it's also a screwdriver").
This may seem to be a frivolous tool, but I think it is worth every penny.
- I find amazon.com customer reviews the most helpful on the web, but this is one time I will disagree with the majority. Maybe it depends on how you use it, but I found this item to be cheap and awful.
Don't get me wrong, it looks great, but it comes with alot of problems:
1. The clippers simply DO NOT work. I tried them on an average plastic packaging (headphones) and not only could they not break the plastic, the clipper edges wouldn't even meet! I was astounded by how bad this was.
2. The cutter is fine - but no better than one for 2 bucks at Home Depot - and the whole unit must be locked up to use it, which is awkward.
3. The item itself is not ergonomic. It is unclear to me why it must be so big, and it did not even fit in a large coffee mug (and I mean LARGE) with some pens as to keep it handy.
Finally, the clippers broke and I threw it out.
I regret this purchase.
- Friend had one which I used, and then orderd 5 for gifts. There are so many ways this has come in handy - not only the perfect way to open those horribly-wrapped plastic packages, but it also cuts through small branches on trees as if they were soft butter. It has also other tools in the handles. Love this opener!
- I picked this up on the recommendation of Instapundit, and it is a great find! All of those (incredibly silly) plastic clear-paks are now a very small annoyance; and I think I have found a a really good give-away item as a seasonal gift for friends and customers - inexpensive and extremely useful!
- The knife at the end will not lock in the "out" position. It's still usable, but inconvenient to do so. I do like the tool's ability to quickly slice through the plastic security packaging.

- My water still tastes as poorly as it did before I installed a new filter.
- Hey, it's just a water filter. But it's the right one, and a brand name. Product arrived on time. Good communications.
- This product is great, the water taste so much fresher and cleaner since I put in the new water filter.
Thank you, so much
- This product works great and really makes a difference in the quality of the water we use from our KitchenAid refrigerator.
- I had a good experience with this vendor. I recommned this product. I have had problems with other filters leaving an after-taste in the water even a few days after installing it. That has not been the case with these filters. Water tastes good immediately after installing the filter.

- 4 Piece Grabit Broken Bolt and Damaged Screw Exractors
The day I received the Tool I over-torqued a SS screw and broke it off. Used the wrong tool because it was at-hand. Howwever the Grabit had just arrived and it was also handy. I glanced at the instructions and they seemed logical. Put the correct tool in the same drill and took the screw out. What's the problem? Great tool, I keep it in with my bits now so it's always handy.
- Ever have a bolt break off when working on your engine? Now here is the item that you where missing. The ProGrabber bolt and screw exractor. Installing a new water pump and the bolt broke off when removing the old pump. Just grab your ProGrabber and walla the bolt comes out and you contiune on with the installation. No need to redrill the hole and install with a tap and die set or a helicoil to fix the threads. ProGrabber all in one exractor.
- It is ok, it works but not every time. I had removed 4 screws successfully, but had problem with one other where it didn't work that well, so I had to drill it out. Good Luck...
- Received a different item for Christmas last year and decided I wanted this product. This has 2 tools in one which i liked.
- I have been wanting these easy-outs for some time now, but never needed to use them. Stripped a small screw while working on my bike...that thing was like butter. Used the Alden the day I got it in the mail. Instructions were thorough...product was easy to use...screw backed out real smooth.
A++ in my books...great purchase...needs to be in everyone's toolbox

5 comments about Energy Saving Smart Strip With Autoswitching Technology #LCG3.
- The service was great, the installation was fast, and most importantly, it works. Worth the investment.
- Bought three of these for 2 computers and one entertainment center. My electric bill went from 650 kilowatts to 291 in one month.
- This power strip is a little pricy, but it's way cool.
Excellent way to save the environment, and help save you money!
- I ordered a couple of these power strips, along with the Kill-A-Watt device, and have been very happy with the function and value!
I used one on my entertainment center. The Kill-A-Watt helped me identify my DVD carousel player was vamping about 4-5W in "off" mode. Plus some other devices.. 1W here, 1W there. My sub was already plugged into my switched outlet on the receiver so that wasn't an issue. Although I previously had it in the wall.. But you may have a similar situation.
So now I've got my receiver plugged into the control port, everything else is in the switched. Works great.
With the other unit I had planned to plug my laptop into it.. and while my laptop draws anywhere from 24-40 watts, it didn't seem to be enough to actually "switch" the unit. So I'm back to my regular power strip there. Now I just turn it off when the laptop is off. It seems this might be the same problem reported by the previous "iMac" user. Seems if the device doesn't draw enough power it won't switch the switch. And yes I tried the adjustment knob maxed both ways.
All in all very satisfied with the unit. Works for my entertainment center and that's what I was most concerned with. And the payback will be < 1 year.
- Once you get the power strip set up, it will save you money on your power bill. Mine paid for themselves in three months.

5 comments about Black & Decker BDSL10 36-Inch Gecko Grip Level with Accu Mark.
- I use the level because I am an avid DIY person. Because it has other features it comes in handy when you are working alone. I am very pleased with the product and happy with the service provided my Amazon.
Thanks
- Black & Decker BDSL10 36" Gecko Grip Level with AccuMark I found this level very convenient to use. The instructions were easy to follow.
- The level has a nice solid feel, and the rulers are incredibly helpful for spacing hangers (either for one hanging that needs multiple hangers or trying to hang several items in a row). It feels relatively sturdy, especially for work around the house.
The only thing I would like to change about the product is that it does not come with either a holder or a built-in tool for marking where to drill - the black & decker stud finder that I have used comes with a small plastic tool that punches a small hole in the drywall which would have been perfect.
- This level worked great for hanging most of my large frames. The only problem I found was for smaller frames (<16"). The Accu marks are not able to move close enough. Otherwise, I would recommend it.
- Bought this for $20 on Amazon while it was on sale. It was a steal at that price. Good level. Definitely worth $30. I would go to the hardware store if you need something a little more 'professional' though. Still, for anyone doing work around the house (especially picture hanging!), than this is a good level to buy.

5 comments about Rubbermaid Configurations 4- to 8-Foot Deluxe Custom Closet Kit, Titanium #3H8900.
- Found the system quite easy to install compared to others I have installed in the past. And my wife is very happy with the layout and the ability to add to this layout if we want more shelves, drawers, etc. Definitely recommend...and the price was excellent on Amazon... especially when the $35 shipping fee was waived.
- After reading most of the negative reviews, I dreaded putting this guy together, but I knew I needed something more than the cookie-cutter option my landlord installed. The packaging is very compact, but also very heavy; having it shipped to work, I cabbed it back home versus the 5 block walk.
That being said, it was more intimidating to take it apart then it was to actually do the work - it took me 2 to 3 hours, and mostly because I have metal studs in my walls so anchored a lot more than they recommended. In the end, it doubled my closet space - and in San Francisco, closet space matters in an apartment with your girlfriend.
I recommend getting the tie/belt rack extension- holds quite a bit and telescopes out for easy accessiblity.
- this item is very nice its it affordable and has many different options that makes any closet like a custom million dollar closet
- I bought this system for 2 secondary bedrooms in our new house. After installation we decided that we liked them so much, we would put them in our master closet and other walk in closet. They are very functional, seem durable and pretty easy to install. We bought the extra accessories such as shoe racks, belt hanger and maple 2 drawer add on (although they are quite overpriced, i saw the same maple drawer at Lowe's for only $30.00 but it wasnt made to hang on the wall). Overall I am very happy with the results. Our master closet looks great!
My only real complaint is that the system (especially the deluxe) should come with more upright pieces. We were careful to be very frugal with them as well. Since we were doing so many closets, we did end up with extra pieces that we then used on the next closet, but now we are ready to do the last closet and don't have anymore upright pieces. I see they sell the 25 in ones for $10 a pop (which is crazy), but they don't even offer the longer ones. I didnt want to buy another whole system just to get more uprigts. So, we did some looking and found some at Home Depot that seem to fit. The titanium color is not exactly the same, but by using only those in the same closet, it won't be obviuos at all. And they were much cheaper!
Bottom line is that with the pieces u get, u can do the ideas on the box,but if u want to get more creative u need more uprights to hang the shelves on.
- No issues with this product. Was able to put it up in about 30 minutes. Once the top rail is secured the rest is a breeze. I looked into piecing together a similar configuration with the stock items at Home Depot and Lowe's but this was by far cheaper.
Hope this helps

5 comments about Charcoal Companion Amazing Bug Zapper.
- I'm really surprised by the previous reviews. I bought this one week a go and do NOTHING to bugs, you actualy have to "kill" the bug (mosquito, fly, etc) by TORTURING it, you will find yourself pressing the 2 buttons for as much as 10-20 seconds in order to kill the bug, if you just zap it for a few seconds you will only torture the bug, like giving it an electroshock and leaving it with epilepsy.. A HUGE WASTE OF MONEY.
- This thing works. Note: be careful not to touch the grill immediately after letting go of the contact buttons. Yeah, did that once. Also, there's a temptation to abuse this device. Eh. Those are the breaks. Update: the handle just broke on me mid-swat. I am sad.
- I love the zappper, although I am purchasing my second zapper because, as many reviews state, the handle is flimsy. I think my overexuberant swinging could be to blame, though. It's hard not swing for the fences when you can snuff out the life of an annoying fly by watching and listening to it burst into a loud, bright electrical spark.
The most satisfying result is when you catch a groggy fly in the morning who spent the night in your house annoying you. For some reason, they often spend the night on our chrome kitchen sink. In the morning, I simply walk up to them and tap them with the zapper. When a fly is propery gounded onto metal, it's like setting off a small firecracker!
I guess the company could have made this three times as expensive, and it would last three times as long. I just look at it as a great disposable device that needs periodic replacement.
- Received the Charcoal Companion Amazing Bug Zapper, opened it up and placed batteries in it and the switch would work only some of the time. It worked better without the battery cover. VERY Cheap, and I would say it is a total waste of your money. Do not buy this one! You are rolling the dice on it. I have one that is the "Original Bug Zapper" and it works fine. thompson.
- I bought it as a gift because we have one and find it very useful.

- Read all the reviews--they are right on. This set is bulky and awkward. It's confusing--you have to buy the light separate from the magnifier. Plus the light isn't that good. I use them occasionally, when I'm reading very small print. But I'm disappointed...
- Mainly used for dark room and reading and works great. Very helpful reading maps in the car. A magnifying feature would a great help for those of us with aging eye sight.
- This light did not meet my needs, it cuts a light down the middle of page.
- Like the product, light was a bit brighter than I thought it would be. It does offer full coverage of your page.
- I was very disappointed with this book light. I thought it would be brighter . It defeats the purpose when you have use another light with it. The glass looking area scratch too easily.

5 comments about Makita BDF452HW 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Driver Drill Kit.
- This is a great drill. I first bought the 3ah version, BDF451, then bought this one because I hang a lot of drywall and wanted something lighter. I sometimes almost forget it's in my hand. It powers spade bits through joists no prob--in fact, the bit snagged once and the drill just about ripped my hand off my arm. It's smaller, it's lighter, and true, the battery lasts half as long, but there's no lack of power. Plus mine came with a rebate for a free third battery, so with two batteries cooking at any given time, there's always power laying around with the bigger batteries fitting the white tool (plus, and I don't know if this affects my warranty but, the smaller batteries fit in the blue tools if you chisel off that little square tab inside the rails where the battery slides on--not that I would recommend such a practice for, say, a circ saw, but there's no need for that big honkin battery on the flashlight). Only thing I think could be better is the VS--the trigger's a little too binary for my taste.
- I've owned a 12v Dewalt drill for 10 years and although it still works great running on it's second set of battery's, I was looking for something with a bit more power,12v tools seem to run out of juice on larger heavier jobs so I was looking for an 18v drill.
Did some research and came up with the the Makita BDF452HW and ordered it from Amazon. First impressions great ! What a beautiful well balanced tool, fits in the hand very well, extremely light, ratcheting chuck, LED light, lots of torque for those heavy jobs, and the cherry on top is the quick charge Lithium ion batteries. I was very impressed with the whole package so I took it for a spin. By chance the first task that came to hand required some finesse, a 1/16" hole in a small computer connector, not the typical work for this heavy duty beast but you have to use your new toy.
When I drilled the hole, the drill bit shook and the drill itself seemed to have some vibration so I did so careful testing. After testing various bits and setups I determined that the chuck was off center and was causing any drill bits to wobble, not greatly, but enough you could feel it and enough to physically bend a small bit. I had noticed a previous review mentioned chuck wobble but after assessing the large number of positive reviews I dismissed it a just bad luck, it happens.
***** Five stars to Amazon's customer support, I returned the drill for an exact replacement, no charge and three days later I had another Makita in my hands ready to test. Sadly the second drill also suffered from the same fate, off center chuck causing the bits to wobble. I must be too critical so I compare drill holes with the Makita and my 10 year old Dewalt. I noticed two striking differences, the Dewalt was completely without any vibration, no doubt here, it was perfect. The second thing I noticed was the trigger speed control, the Dewalt was very smooth and seemed to be infinetly adjustable allowing me to very accurately control the speed, were the Makita had distinctive speed steps, not quit the control but definitely adequate. Oh yeh and the Dewalt weighted a ton compared to the Makita.
In conclusion, and honestly with great regret I sent the second Makita back for a refund ( ***** Stars to Amazon again !) and ordered the Dewalt DC720KA. It works great and has all of the features of the Makita with two exceptions, weight (its a heavy weight @ 4.8lbs but still very compact) and battery technology, still using NiCad battery's, rather than Lithium Ion.
The Makita is a great product if you can get lucky enough to get one that is put together well, sadly I had two in a row bad. Since the chuck is a little off center, this indicates poor manufacturing tolerances. This may have been a bad batch from a failed CNC machine, or it may be indicative of a more general problem, poor manufacturing practices that ultimately translate into poor quality and usually along with that a poor repair history, and a short product life. Only time will tell if this is a freak batch or indicative of a bigger issue.
- Has recently started my condo renovation; this drill driver has been a big help. Compact size allow me to use it everywhere that I need it; handy and light weight. the battery last long time! I'm very happy with this purchase. a recommandation tho, I would really consider the drill driver set if anyone's thinking of heavy drilling on mansonry stuff. This one would do, but the other one has more power; get both if you knew you will be running into mansonry drilling!
- I am pleased with the product. The only area of uncertainty was whether or not two batteries were included. They were, but I was not able to ascertain this for sure from the descriptive material. The unit is lightweight, powerful and well balanced. The keyless chuck works very well.
- We use these an assembly section of our factory and they are excellent. Quick charge time, good power.
Approve!
