  1. I received the purchase via UPS without any damage. After reviewing the product reviews, prior to my purchase, I was concerned about the shipping. The compressor works well and is very quiet. The only issue I have is the weight, 77 pounds makes it difficult to carry. I knew this prior to my purchase so I will live with it.

  2. This is an awesome compressor. I had a MAC700 which was 'liberated' from my garage recently. I had a minor issue with it (the pressure switch started leaking) which Makita fixed with a little bit of wrangling (after a failed warranty repair because they didn't bother to replace the bad part, I wrote a letter alerting Makita of my dissatisfaction and requesting a replacement part, which they fulfilled). I really enjoyed that compressor. It was very quiet (compared to the alternatives) and functioned well. It was excellent for inflating tires and balls, running small air tools, and [very] small "blowing" needs. Unfortunately it had a little bit of trouble keeping up with my air impact wrench (IR2131) when removing lug nuts. I have a 60 gallon IR compressor for my large needs, but I -really- didn't like waiting 5 minutes for it to charge up just to take a couple of wheels off my car, so I decided to replace my missing MAC700 with a MAC2400 because of its slightly larger capacity.

I'm one of the lucky ones who received my MAC2400 from Amazon in pristine condition, which made me very happy. The MAC2400 seems a bit noisier than the MAC700, but basically the same. I think the people who think these are noisy haven't heard the alternatives! I chose not to go with the larger Makita (MAC5700?) because reports were that the wheels are -very- flimsy and the whole unit is quite a bit heavier for not much gain in performance. If I had to lug the MAC2400 around every day, I'd probably go back to a MAC700, but the 2400 is a great addition to my garage, and can be taken inside the house or in the car if need be. I've also seen several people mount these on two-wheelers, an idea which intrigues me. But, I'll probably just let it sit happily in my garage and 'spin up' in about minute when I need a small amount of air quickly.

  3. Great compressor! I bought this to run a paint spray gun to prime and paint 600 square feet of my basement, plus the ceiling (rafters, ductwork and all). After using the compressor all week, I am very impressed.

First, mine was delivered free 2-day via Amazon Prime (FedEx) with no damage (I signed up for the free 1 month trial). Next, the noise: If you have never owned or worked with a compressor, you will find this loud (almost as loud as a vacuum cleaner). But if you have worked with a Craftsman or Porter Cable 3,600 rpm compressor before (which sound like a full-throttle Harley driving by), you will find the MAK2400 is SO nice and quiet. It just purrs. Put it in the next room, run your hose in, turn the radio on to normal volume, and you won't even hear it running.

It charges an empty tank in about 1 to 1.5 minutes, or does the normal 100 to 130 psi recovery in about 18-20 sec. It is a bit of a pain to move, but if you rest the back "tank side" on your waist and grab the handle, it is manageable for a 200 ft haul.

IMPORTANT: the manual states the MAK2400 (and all Makita air compressors) are designed for 50% duty cycle (they should run no more than 30 minutes of a given hour). High-volume tools that approach 4.2 scfm will need to be run in shifts to give the compressor "breaks". For me, this wasn't a problem if I ran my paint spray gun with only center-air delivery (compressor cycled on and off), but if I opened up the shaping air nozzles to "flatten" the paint spray, it kept the compressor running 99% so I had to take breaks.

  4. My Mac2400 arrived without a scratch! Filled her with oil, screwed in the air filter and turned her on for the 30 minute break-in period...WOW...soooo quiet, I still can't believe it. I can understand just how quiet the Mac2400 is as I used to use an oilless pancake type which recently died on me in the middle of a job, what a difference. This Makita screams quality (albeit quietly)...now I just need to actually use it, although I'm sure this machine will perform!

  5. I had been hessitant to buy this product because some of the reveiwers indicated theirs having been delivered damaged. Mine arrived perfect! 100%.Oil in the crankcase pluged it in! Worked like a charm. I love it! Its fast and quiet.

5 comments about Skil 2352-01 3.6 Volt Lithium-Ion Multi-Cutter.
  1. The product does a great job cutting many things, but can easily choke on two layers of cardboard if it's tilted sideways by a bit. When it doesn't cut, often the blade is a fraction of an inch away from what needs cutting, and it's a feed problem. Keeping it straight helps a lot on thick things, and sometimes, angling the front downwards slightly can get it to bite and go smoothly.

If you are not feeding it something at maximum thickness, and are keeping it straight, it does a fine job.

As for the safety switch, the tool is designed so that if you grab it with one hand, chances are the switch will be a bit forward of where your thumb is likely to end up. You will be a lot less likely to turn it on by mistake while grabbing it, but the trade off is that the button feels a bit forward of where you might expect it. But it's hardly a chore and stretching your thumb forward a fraction of an inch is all it takes.

The safety switch can be pressed from either side, so you can use it with your left or right hand. But if you use your left hand, you can't see the blade area and are more likely to have problems keeping the tool at the correct angle. If you are left handed, it won't be the ideal tool.

  2. I purchased the Skil Multi-Cutter to help breakdown cardboard boxes for recycling. I had been using a box cutter but always risked cutting too deep into my carpet or slipping and cutting my leg. With the Skil, the risk is gone. It cuts quickly, maintains its charge for a long time, is safe and fun to use. Just hang it on a hook at a convenient location - you'll use it frequently. I don't rave about tools, but this was a great purchase!

  3. I had been looking for a tool that would cut carpet and padding without damaging my hands. The Skil Multi-cutter totally fits the bill. It cut through my old carpet like butter, allowing me to remove the pad and carpet in a 14x10 room in small managable load in less than 2 hours.

It holds a charge for more than 2 weeks when not in use and had plenty of power to go after the initial 2 hour use. It requires no maintenance and is solidly built to last.

This product easily deservers 5 stars.

  4. it needs more power , I would like to see this tool with at least 14 volts or 18 volts.

  5. This is a real fun tool. It is perfect for slicing into hard-to-open plastic packaging, and powerful enough to cut through quarter inch rug pads. Like a couple of other new Skil tools, its lithium battery holds a charge for several months. The product is compact and easily gripped in either hand.

5 comments about Senco PC1010 Compressor, 1 Horsepower (PEAK), 1 Gallon.
  1. This is a great trim compressor that doesn't tend to drive the clients crazy when it cycles. In the proper application it works great.

  2. This compressor is a good balance of weight vs capacity. It doesn't hold much air, but it is light and portable and quiet. In boosting my tire pressures by 10 PSI, I pretty much had to let it re-fill in between each tire (large tires.) Even still, I like my compressor.

  3. This is the best compressor made. My men fight over the two that I own. We are a glazing contractor and do a lot of wood window repair and use 18 ga. air nailers.

  4. I needed a lightweight workhorse for airbrushing applications. This is by far the best unit I've worked with. It's very compact, light weight and quiet. I run an airbrush at about 50psi and have not had any issues with this little dynamo.

  5. My larger compressor is a little heavy for smaller jobs, so I wanted to pick up a smaller compressor for finishing the trim work on our recent kitchen remodel. I had bought a small, no name compressor from costco with a too good to be true price of $60. Said it would fill tires and run brad nailers. Unfortunately, the start up pressure was too low - 70lbs, so when the tank was drawn down my brads and pin nails did not seat fully. Not good. Took it back and started to think about other options.

My hardwood flooring contractor had used the Senco PC1010 and told me it did a great job for running their Senco finished nailer. I've been a fan of Senco products for some time and decided to look for one locally which ran about $219. Bought it through Amazon for about half. It has worked flawlessly, runs all my nail guns. This is a light to medium duty, light weight compressor that is perfect for smaller finishing jobs. Awesome.

  1. I love these "little guys"! This is my second pair...the first were taken by the TSA agents at Boston Airport since I forgot to remove them from my key chain. They are handy, sturdy and easy to carry! Everyone should have a pair.

  2. the two men i bought this for absolutely loved it!! they call it their leatherman Jr. or just jr. "this is a job for junior!" anyway they really liked it. thanks

  3. Really small, cool color, well made, gave him another gift as well, but he went straight for the Leatherman and started checking out all the features.

  4. For Christmas one year, every person in my family got one of these magical little devices and every single one of them loved it! The men all got the ones with the pliers, and the women got the ones with scissors, and all of them have raved about them! Just make sure you remind them to pack them in a suitcase when traveling or they will be taken away!

  5. I purchased this knife a a gift and it was a big hit. It's small enough to fit in a pocket without adding any bulk, but the tools are still sturdy and well-made. The electric-blue color gives the tool a trendy feel. Highly recommended!

  1. My husband and I both have bikes and were looking for an easy way to store them on our back porch. My husband found this one and we have been happy with it. The bikes are easy to get on and off, and the rack keeps the bike up off the porch.

Only down side is the protective coating cracked and fell off within a few days. I don't think this hurts the bikes; I just didn't know why it wasn't made stronger.

    Overall, happy with this purchase.

  2. Rack works great. I had a hard time getting the screws into the stud because I didn't have a posidrive screw driver. so i mangled the screws a little getting them in. The rubber coating on the arms is fragile too. I managed to damage it just with the weight of the bikes so i put some electricians tape over it to keep it from self-destructing. Other than that i love it. I put it up the wall enough to fit stuff under the bikes but not have to lift it too far to get the bike down. I'd recommend this to a friend but with reservations because of its minor failings.

  3. I would give this storage system 5 stars if our bikes would fit on it with the racks we have attached. Our rear racks are for holding panniers or baby seat. Only one bike will fit on this product if you have a bike with rear rack. I like that there is just enough room to store helmets on the unit behind the bikes.

  4. Great bike rack. Fits two mt. bikes just fine side by side...and easy to install.

  5. To be honest I had my doubts this would hold up 2 mountain bikes (although both aluminum) but it is quite sturdy. The third time putting the bikes on the rack though, the rubber coating ripped off of one of the supports, I'm going to have to wrap tape around it to keep it from coming all the way off. I'm sure I should have lifted the bike higher instead of just pulling the bike off and it may not have happened.
Also be sure to pre-drill for the mounting screws as they are fatties. I stripped one pretty good trying to skip that step.
All in all an good solution for storing your bikes up and out of the way.

  1. This is the book cart for you if you are a teacher, a mother, or someone who has to take a lot of stuff along with you. Very strong and the wheels work great. I have had similar carts but none were this quality.

  2. I bought this because it is always awkward to get the groceries out of the trunk of the car (multiple runs to and from the trunk to the fridge with stuff dropping all the time and stuff warming up in the summer heat). To my surprise this item folds flat to a tiny footprint but when opened up us a huge and -most important- sturdy crate that can hold TONS.
We have found outselves using this not only for groceries but also for carrying our chairs and towels from the parking lot to the beach, heck, we've even transported our 7 yr old with a cut in his foot on this thing. Gotta love a truly useful tool like this.

  3. This carrier is well-built and holds a ton of stuff. I am a teacher and have come to rely on this carrier to haul my books and other heavy things back and forth to my classroom.

  4. i really love this product... i have a bad back and found it difficult to haul groceries etc. this has saved me. i would definitely recommend it to others.

4 comments about Black & Decker RC800 8-Inch Saw Chain For CCS818 and NPP2108.
  1. I've had the opportunity to use this chainsaw once and was not very impressed with its power or cutting speed. It's a neat looking little tool, and is probably sufficient for most lightweight cutting jobs; but don't expect it to take the place of a gas-powered saw. In itself, it is very lightweight and easy to weld, but branches much over 5 inches would not be an easy cut for this tool.

  2. The Black & Decker CCS818 18 volt battery powered chain saw is extremely handy. Granted it will not replace my gas powered chain saw, but I find it is very useful in places/situations where I cannot effectively use the gas powered saw. The major use I find for this product is cutting small (3" or less) branches into stove length pieces. It is great in this application. It is small and light enough that I can hold it in one hand, the branch in the other and saw. The chain that comes with the saw has remained sharp, but I know it will eventually become dull.
I have used the saw and current chain for about 6 months now; cutting Manzanita, Madrone, Oak, Cedar and some pine without any problems. The largest diameter trunk that I've cut with the saw was a 7" diameter pine that had died last summer. (Even though the saw and chain completed the job, I don't think I'll try that again).
I will be buying a replacement chain, so if the current chain becomes dull in the middle of a cutting session, it can be replaced and the job continued, then the dull chain sharpened that night. The only problem I have had so far, is finding a spare chain to have available when needed.

  3. Using this on my 18volt cordless chain saw, it's a low kick back saw, and cordless chain saw are low rpm to begin with, so I guess that " MADE IN CHINA" part doesn't bother me, keep it well lube, before during and after each use, put ptfe dri-film on it befor putting on new sets, for around the house maintance, not a professional saw for sure. And remember to clean it up, it do get stuck easily when batteries are low.

  4. Nice product. Will come in handy in the case that you dull your original chain.

  1. Can a power strip be sexy?

The PowerSquid is one of those inventions that works well and looks cool to boot. The idea of solving the wall wart problem seems so simple, and yet why did it take this long for something like this to come out at an affordable price?

The design coup for this item though is outer covering for its inner workings.

The designers could have housed all of the wires and breakers and connections in a black box, but this unit has these sexy curves that look and feel right. When you hang the item on the wall, cords flowing down, it looks like a squid - GENIUS!

I like it because it looks good, it does its job and its afordable. Very Cool!

  2. Although the PowerSquid looks like a prop from "War of the World" it is a great design for a PowerStrip/SurgeProtector. The construction is extremely sturdy since it is made of a very heavy rubber material. Wall worts will not be a problem with this design either.

The only problem I am having is finding a good permanent location to mount the long and bulky PowerSquid. I normally mount power strips to the inside or outside legs of my computer desk, but such a placement of this device would make it difficult to see the 3, slightly recessed, surge protector indicator lights. Now that I have my own PowerSquid I will be throwing my other powerstrips into the trash and buying a couple more of these monsters. I consider this a very good buy.

  3. I love this product...I have 3 in my house. It is great to get the plugs away from the wall when the outlet is in an inconvenient spot and great for lots of bulky power chargers! Also it has a surge suppressor...make sure to get the one with it, they also sell them without it.

  4. I really like power squids. They are great for electronics, particularly when you have several "wall wart" type supplies that need to be plugged in. With a regular power strip, "wall warts" often take up 2-3 plugs greatly limiting a power strips effectiveness. This works around the issue. The only downside is that this is slightly bulkier than a power strip. If you have the room or the need, I still highly recommend this over a power strip due to ease of use and availability of all outlets.

Just make sure you are getting the Surge Supressor version. Not all versions have surge supression.

  5. This is the answer; to powering all those peripheral's power adapters, especially for your computer.

Whoever designs the peripheral power adapters seems to think that their products power is the only one that is important.

I hate using a standard surge protector and have only 3 or 4 things plugged in, because some bonehead's plug-in takes up 2 places on the strip.

This squid works well for those situations.

  1. This is a great professional grade buffer like the ones we used in autobody school. Plus quick shipping from a reputable dealer. I shopped around a lot and couldn't beat this price. Absolutely satisfied.

  2. ive just started painting and old chevelle base coat clear coatlaquer a little wet sanding and this buffer made it look like glass no orange peel whatso ever . minimal swirl marks a $29.95 orbital buffer took them out in one pass.

  3. I used this product when I was doing automobile detailing for a paintless dent repair company. I have found it to be very reliable and love the variable speed adjust. As per other DeWalt products I've owned, it's very well made and can handle some abuse. Years later I bought one of my own after I left the company.

This is a powerful tool and can get away from someone not used to using it. Also it is a little hefty and will wear on your arms after extended use. I happen to like the weight as it seems to give me a little more control than one that is lightweight and just feels better in my hands.

  4. I've worked with Makita, Milwaukee, and DeWalt buffers. I use them for buffing and waxing boats. I've found that for the weight and agility, the DeWalt is the absolute best. When you're doing a lot of buffing around corners, curves, angles, and detail work around lights and horns, it pays to have a lighter machine. The variable speed trigger is great - you can start off really slowly (reducing compound splatter), and you can increase as needed. The lighter machine does NOT mean cheap or not as good!! Obviously, when you keep your tools clean and maintain them, they last. I've seen DeWalts last years with little or no maintenance. I love my DeWalt!

  5. DEWALT DW849 12 Amp 7/9-Inch Right Angle Polisher with Electronic Variable Speed This tool is very light and not heavy like angle grinders. It reduces time, increases shine and makes your polishing friends jealous. Very pleased to have this tool in my garage.
