4 comments about Black & Decker Dual-Line Replacement Spool .080-Inch #DF-080.
  1. This spool is a snap to replace. Since it is designed for non-bump models of trimmers you do have to be cautious of accidently bumping the bottom on the ground. If used right you will be thankful for not having to deal with spring loaded spool replacements older bump models had.

  2. I had a Grass Hog 600. It broke 4 times during the 2 yr warranty and used .065 line which is small. I got a good deal on a Grass Hog 1000 because next time the GH600 broke it was out of warranty and history.

The GH10000 is a far superior product in reliability, and cutting ability. It uses .080 line which is heavier for more cutting ability of larger weeds but it is wound in 2 parts and so unlike the GH600, it is really difficult for me to wind the spools using bulk line.

The picture accompanying this item is incorrect. It shows a different spool. These spools are genuine B&D , Black spool with Green line. These are a good buy especially if you get several at a time to offset shipping cost.

  3. I replaced my old GH-600 with the 1000 model. It does cut a line like the Panama Canal, but it is hard to replace the line and I can't even get thru my back and front yard with 1 spool!I am going to find a different model to use, as I can't afford 2 spools a week on my yard. And we're not talking about anything but an average sized lawn.

  4. There's not much to say about this replacement spool. It is easy to install (no tools required), it feeds line automatically and does the job. What more more can you ask for in a product?

5 comments about Command(TM) Utility Hooks w/Adhesive Strips 17003 Large.
  1. This product is not for all types of walls. Be careful before buying. Did not work long in my case.

  2. These hooks are fantastic. They are extremely sturdy and can be removed from the surface where applied very easily.

  3. The sticky strips that come with these hooks really hold on, and then remove easily and cleanly if you need them to. I have bought quite a few Command Hooks because they have the ONLY self-adhesive strips that have never failed me, unlike the foam-backed ones that ALWAYS fail, eventually.

  4. Command hooks are always good to have around the house. Plus when you need to find an item for $2-$3 to get free shipping, these fit the bill!

  5. I have used these for years, and many of the hooks lasted that long! They have never damaged the wall when removed. The only time one damaged a wall was when I seriously overloaded the hook, it pulled the layer of paper off of the drywall. They didn't work on a wall with a glazed faux finish, but they have held on every other wall except a tile one behind the stove. (I think the heat did them in.) Try the other Command Adhesive products, too -- especially the Velcro picture hangers.

5 comments about PUR 2 Stage Oval Water Pitcher with LED Indicator #CR-6000C.
  1. As other reviewers have noted, removing the lid in order to re-fill the pitcher is difficult. To be more accurate, difficult is an understatement. The lid fits on very tightly, and there's no way to easily remove it or pry it open. On the back, you can try and push the lid up and with enough brute force it may come off. But thanks to sharp plastic corners, you're likely to rip a gash in your thumb as I did during the first week. The design is just atrocious.

How can a company that sells water pitchers not design one that's at least somewhat easy to open and refill? Sure, coming up with the cheapest design and manufacturing is profitable, but don't the real profits come from selling more cartridges? This might be an example of where offshoring design isn't a very good idea. Needless to say, my days with Pur are numbered.

  2. I am delighted(enchanted) with this product, it is necessary to buy it, the drip goes away with a tape of teflon.

  3. I love PUR filters, the water quality is great - that being said, unfortunately its the design of this pitcher that disappoints.

I bought this pitcher with the intention of taking it to work so we could have cool filtered water on demand, yet I sent it back within in a day of receiving it because of the clumsy and difficult way to re-fill! You have to take the whole top off, there is no flap or easy fill technique, and after trying it a couple of times I realized that no-one in the office was going to take the time to pry the lid apart from the filter chamber (which is really quite difficult) and actually fill it up again!

  4. I've had this pitcher for a few months now. We have okay tap water here, but water from the Pur pitcher tastes better, and I also like very much that I'm not wasting plastic bottles. I've tried a Brita dispenser before, as well as a Pur faucet-mounted filter, and I prefer this pitcher. The Pur water tastes better to me than the Brita water, and the faucet-mounted filter was always in the way.

I agree with others that the pitcher is difficult to fill and isn't the best design, but I tend to work at things until I find a trick to it. Here's how I fill mine (I'm right-handed):

    1. I place my left hand on top of the pitcher, fingers toward the handle.
    2. I place my left index finger on one side of the tail of the lid and my left thumb on the other side.
    3. I pinch my finger and thumb together on the tail of the lid and raise it a bit.
    4. Then, holding the handle with my right hand as if pouring, I press the pad of my right thumb firmly against the raised edge of the tail. I continue pressing forward and up with my thumb, and the lid comes off.

Obviously, it's also tricky to describe in words, but once you do it, you'll get it. Hope it works for you.

Overall, I'm happy with the pitcher. I've thought about getting the dispenser with the spigot, but the pitcher is easy to take in and out of the fridge. The lifespan of the filters seems short (or the indicator is dishonest), but it hasn't been much of a problem.

  5. I have now used both a faucet mount PUR filter and the PUR pitcher. I guess I have to say that I like them both. The only reason I got the pitcher was because I was sick of the faucet mount getting in my way. But both work equally well. I like the pitcher because it goes in the 'fridge so you have COLD water all the time. With the faucet mount, even though you run cold water through it, it isn't always as cold as from the 'fridge. But then, you don't have to wait for filtered water when you get it through the faucet mount. With the pitcher, you have to wait a little bit for the water to flow through the filter into the pitcher. Also, replacing the PUR pitcher filter is a little easier and a bit less messy than with the faucet mount. But like I said, I like them both, for different reasons.

5 comments about Mantis Tiller Weed Reducers #1722-00-02.
  1. I don't run my tiller without these so I don't really know how badly the weeds would tangle or how much more difficult it would be to remove the weeds. These do help to make removing wrapped around weeds easier but they aren't necessary for the tiller to work well. They are easy to put in place but do take a bit of jiggling to seat them when replacing the tines after cleaning.

  2. I bought them along with the tiller. I had a lot of weeds in my yard and a few times these weeds got tangled up aroung these reducers(rollers) but the Mantis never stopped working.
I 'd have given it a five star rating except the price is kinna high for a couple of plastic rollers. They should come with the tiller for free and why not because all new mantis orders come with a free kick stand now.

  3. These are pretty good at making it easier to get the roots and tangles out of the tines. They aren't as good at keeping them from getting there in the first place. I don't think there is a solution for that - it's just the nature of rotary tines and long, tough, fibrous roots. I think their main value is that they keep roots from becoming tightly wound around the tine shaft and seals that protect the transmission.

  4. The Mantis weed reducers are a must. They are easy to install and do their job well.

  5. I just received these and I've not used my Mantis in a weedy area yet so I can't comment on how well they work.

But I am pretty unhappy about the false advertising. The description of this item specifically says "Constructed of solid steel for strength and durability." But this is a lie. These parts are constructed of relatively cheap, light weight plastic. I hope they don't need to be strong or durable to survive! It really bothers me when companies make "mistakes" like this that favor themselves and hurt their customers.

They may or may not work, but they are definitely overpriced considering they are small, simple pieces of cheap plastic and Mantis is charging quite a bit for them.

  1. There is no finer conversion calculator on the planet than this one! Even most of the Hewlett Packards and other high end calculators can't do conversions as quickly or easily as this model. It converts English to Metric regarding weights, volumes and distances and vice versa. Highly recommended!

  2. Yes, 5 Stars. I had an older version of the Construction Master calculator by C.I. which stopped working (not it's fault). I tried buying a similar calculator by another company and after using it for 2 weeks I through it in the garbage and bought the Ultra Measure Master !! I won't use anything else. There is no equal.

  3. Great product, used CI products for years now and will always go back to CI for more products. Excellant layout and ease of use. Recommend this and all CI products.

  4. It drove me crazy whenever I had to convert centimeters to inches, or grams to ounces, etc. This calculator does it all in an instant. Be cautioned that learning to use it will require studying the manual, which is conveniently located in a pouch attached to the calculator. But don't let that deter you. If you're a do-it-yourselfer, this gadget is for you.

  5. This calculator does EXACTELY what I expected and does every calculation I've been looking for..!!
    Great product - recommended !

5 comments about Skylink Wireless Remote Control #WS-100.
  1. I own four of these remote lighting/appliance controls and now would not even consider another brand. They're obviously rugged and well-constructed and have proven themselves in my home for over a year of daily use. The one downside is that there are only two frequencies sold and it's a 'Forrest Gump' proposition ("you never know what you're gonna get"). Otherwise, I would highly recommend it.

  2. We love this remote. We are using it for outside lights and it works from inside the house also. I am ordering 2 more for the other lights.

  3. I inserted the unit in a waterproof box behind a masonry wall. It works consistently at about 50 feet. I wanted it to work at 75 feet (which would bring it into the house), but it consistently does not. Not bad--and I really didn't expect it to work through the box and wall--but not as perfect as I would have liked.

  4. We bought this product to control a flourescent light fixture in my husband's workshop which is in a covered patio area outside. The switch works great, exactly as promised. The nice thing was that Amazon would ship this to our location which is in Puerto Rico, & they won't ship many electronic items here, so if you live in a hard-to-ship-to area, this may be your best solution. The remote works from a good distance away & we hung the unit upside down as per instructions - also a good idea if you mount it outside so water doesn't get inside. Now we can turn the light on/off from inside the house. I heartily recommend this product.

  5. Works as advertised. Simple to install and use. Price is low compared to competitor products and quality appears to be equal. I may buy another one or two for use in different locations.

I understand all units of this model - maybe the whole brand - all work on the same frequency, so independent operation of additional power switches within the range of one remote signal is impossible. To be fair, I don't know if any competitors offer a choice in frequency either, so this product may be as good as the entire market offers - especially in this price range.

I works reliably and I like it.

3 comments about US Forge Shaded #5 Economy Cup Brazing Goggles #00108.
  1. FYI: The goggles I received were dark forest green, not black like the photo might show. Still, I adore these goggles for fashion eyewear because the goggles unscrew to release the lenses (one clear, one tinted smoky brown). I've replaced them with wire mesh, colored lenses, and punctured and painted metal foil. The goggles are easily painted another color if you use a primer first.

Arrived quickly and responsibly. Such a great set of specs for the price.

  2. I ordered these to round off a mad scientist costume for Halloween, so I can't speak to how well they actually work as brazing goggles - but as costume elements they were sturdy, very nicely adjustable (you can adjust both the headstrap and the nose piece), and cool looking. The plastic frame was teal instead of black, but I liked the teal better. Something to keep in mind though if you are trying to match your goggles to something. They arrived fairly quickly, too!

  3. These are simple plastic goggles that will keep you from being blinded while welding and brazing. They do their job well enough. They do have considerable promise as part of a costume, however.

5 comments about Knox Lock Resettable Combination Cable Bicycle Lock, 6 ft, 12mm cable.
  1. Well Got this lock a couple says ago and so far I am very impressed. The lock is quite thick and doesn't really weigh as much as others said. It is very easy/fast to install onto your bike and gets the job done for a cheap price. There are some P/C which I will list below

    Pros:
    |Nice Price
    |Easy Installation
    |Good Weight for Thick Lock
    |Those "Combination Lock Hacks" WILL NOT work on this lock
    |Easy to change Combination
    |Medium-High Level Security for a low price (Already had a couple people
try but they failed) I repeat this is a nice lock for a cheap price and
    good security.

    Cons:
    |The Wire is kind of annoying to untangle so you can tie it up to
    fences/posts/bike racks
    |When you install the last digit it kind of tough to turn but it still
    works

There it goes this is an excellent lock and I would recommend it anybody who doesn't wanna pay 30+ dollars for a decent combination lock such as this. You really are getting a great deal when you purchase this lock because the security is outstanding for the price as it is now. This company also has very fast shipping via Standard (took me 2 days to receive) Now if you are in a extremely dangerous neighborhood well then I really don't know what to say.

    Overall 5/5

  2. I like combination locks because I don't like having to worry about carrying and losing a key when I'm riding. This is my favorite combo lock for a bike. It is heavy duty and easy to use.

The only negative is the holder that allows you to carry the lock on your bike frame wasn't so easy to use. It was difficult to get the lock on and off. So, I just throw it in my bag, or throw it over the top tube on short commutes. It stays put and doesn't bang up my paint job.

  3. Great secure cable lock that serves the purpose well. Can be used for selecting random lottery numbers too!

  4. What all of the rest of the reviews say are correct. This thing is amazing. LOVE IT! No Problems with it what so ever. Noone will ever be stealing my bike!

  5. This lock seems quite sturdy and the only reason I did not 5 star it is because it is larger than I wanted in total size but not length the 6 foot length is perfect but it will not fit well in a cargo pocket and is bulky and hard to unfurl. The lock comes with a sturdy bike mount for travel which is nice. I think it will keep a bike safe but if you have to use it ten times a day it might start to wear on the nerves fighting it each use. It is thick and rubber coated and the re-settable combination lock is awesome. Mostly a 5 star product just a bit too big and stiff for me.

  1. I had a rotozip and just wanted the updated features and at this price I was sold. Item as stated and fully warranted.

  2. I have 2 other RotoZip kits (an early unit, and a batt-operated unit) this unit was needed for use with a close-cut R/A adapter. The price, features, and power of this unit makes it a "real-deal" in my tool arsenal.

  3. Had mine for about 3 weeks. It works and does its job which is what I wanted. It is definitely a refurb, it came pretty beat-up scuffs, scrapes and dings, more than I expected for a refurb. The cutoff attachemnt being the most beat up. All the parts came (for me) in a large tool bag. So far it works well, when I got it there were 2 or 3 bent and damaged washers in the bottom of the bag, I was worried these were pieces of the unit, but haven't had any issues yet. If you don't mind that it may not be pretty, then it is well worth the price.

  4. Just a month beyond the warranty expiring, one of the brush springs broke. There are no parts available for this tool. For lack of a 5 cent spring, the entire kit is now scrap metal. Unacceptable!

  5. Saw and accessories work great , shipping was faster than expected.

    I would buy again.

5 comments about Lasko 40-Inch Elite Wind Tower with Remote Control.
  1. We got this fan for my wife's "snuggery," a converted porch that's long and narrow, and has a window AC at the far end. Even with a ceiling fan, the place gets warm in the summer sun (the unshaded end of the house, for sure), and the AC is too far away to really help much. The fan takes up so little space that we can place it midway from the AC to the loveseat where she sits to knit and watch TV, and the cooling effect is pronounced, all without giving up much space (or sacrificing another window to an AC).

It's perfect for what it's made for, quiet, efficient, and small in footprint. We like it a lot.

    Bob Clayton
    Silver Spring, MD

  2. this was the cheapest 40 inch fan I could find, when it arrived, the packaging weren't all that great, nor is the actual fan housing/base itself, but the fan works very well, nice n soft breeze, timer control and everything

  3. I am enjoying the Lasko Wind Tower. It is quiet and moves air quite well in a medium sized room. It would be even nicer if it had a little larger turn radius. My wife complains about the loud high pitched on/off button and that it hurts her ears but I don't find it that bad. The beepers at McDonald's are louder than that. I would buy another if I needed an additional unit.

  4. Never had a tower fan before, but this was a treat to buy for the summer. The first one arrived damaged from shipping and the manufacturer stated that it is unusual for that to happen during shipping. Got my replacement in four days in great shape.
The fan is quiet for the most part, but can make a clicking noise when you first start it but quickly goes away. No noise on oscillation. Stirs the air enough to feel it across the room even on a low setting. This is great for an apartment, dorm or office.
Does not come with the 2 AAA batteries needed for the remote, but my apartment is small enough for me to easily walk over to it so I don't mind.

  5. This is a great tower fan. It moves a fair amount of air at max speed and can be left all night with disturbing on the lowest setting.
My only gripe with it is the built quality being average (not bad, just average), but for the price, I guess this is to be expected. Still leaving a star off a perfect score.
