5 comments about Black & Decker 18-Volt Cordless Electric Chain Saw #CCS818.
- I am a girl living on a 5 acre property in Hawaii where things grow fast.
This chainsaw is lightweight and handy - great for branch trimming and cutting of smaller dead trees.
I have 2 battery packs which last long enough to do the job.
- This saw is great. It easily cuts through tree limbs bigger than my leg. It gets a lot of life out of one battery, though I have several BD 18V batteries. Nice points about this saw are:
1. It's cheap
2.) It turns off when you release the button
3.) It's light enough to use with one hand
4.) Compliments my other BD tools (same batteries)
5.) Easy storage on the shelf, no leaky or smelly gas & oil
6.) The quietest chain saw I've ever heard
- I thought that this little saw would be a good alternative for a 65 year old woman who wanted to trim and/or cut down small trees. I was wrong. After charging the saw for the required number of hours, I proceeded to attempt to cut down a small dead tree. Any necessary preliminary branch trimming was done with a small bow saw, so the only cutting that this saw did was the necessary cuts to fell the tree. Well, I had to finish with the bow saw to even get the tree down because the Black & Decker ran out of juice. Granted, dogwood is pretty hard wood, but it made me think about the people who wrote the 4 & 5 star reviews on this product. Were they cutting down 1 inch pine sapplings or what? I gave it a second chance: I charged it for another 9-10 hours, it ran out of juice again after a few cuts, and I was stuck hand-sawing again. This is the first time I ever returned anything to Amazon.com, but return it I did. And, yes, it does leak oil all over the place.
- I own a few B&D 18V cordless items and needed a chainsaw but would rarely use it so this would be a nice addition to my collection.
It cuts well using the 18V batteries on what I have tried so far. I cut a few large branches off my plum tree about 2" and it did it with no hesitation. I also cut out a bunch of roots from a large tree that was invading my yard and killing my grass. a few were about 3". I dug around them then used the chainsaw to cut them out. No problems.
It burns out the batteries pretty quick but since I have 8 of them it has been no problem.
- It works fine, good scale. So, after unpacking, charging the battery, reading the manual, filling the chain oil reservoir; I made a couple of test cuts to be sure it it functioned OK. Fine. I left it on a table in the shop for the night. The next day I find that all of the chain oil had flowed out onto the table and run off onto the floor.
Store inverted if any oil is left...

- The replacement sand paper arrived a good week before the actual dremel. They enclosed a bit that doesn't fit into the base, so it's unusable. Of course, I was following the program of gradually acclimating my dogs to the presence of this little machine near their paws, so I didn't discover this for a while. Now I have to go through the hassle of trying to make the dremel work and re-acquantaining my dogs with it, once the right piece arrives.
I am very disappointed.
- We bought it for our dog. He is a little afraid of it but I think as we ease him into he should be fine.
- Not much to say about these, the delivery was very fast and pretty much what I had expected. Product works as described. I have 3 dogs, 2 of which had wicked long nails, because I am afraid of cutting the Quick, and so far I have only gone through one band and their nails are almost to the length they should be. I will re-purchase when I run out.
- No problems, delivery was fast and all items as described. Would buy from this seller again.

5 comments about Brita 35530 Ultramax Dispenser.
- This dispenser holds so much more water than the pitcher we had! The dispenser nozzle is so convenient too. My husband and I drink a lot of water so we love this.
- The water that this thing puts out is better than water you can buy in the plastic bottles. That makes it ;ess filling on the land fills....
- Brita is great for removing that "funny" taste from tap water, particularly if you've recently moved from one part of the country to another. I bought one for my son in college, who complains that all the water in the midwest tastes like it came out of a swimming pool.
- The spigot on the britta system is poorly designed. It breaks and snapps off really easy. Ours brook when it fell into the sink from the counter. A mear 3 inch drop. I ordered one and it was delivered and the spigot was brooken in the same spot so I returned it. I then went to purchase one and was glad I opened the box it came in first because that one also had the spigot brooken on it. To bad because I really like the brita filter system.
- The first shipment was broken and Amazon replaced it immediately.
The transaction was a breeze!

5 comments about Hoover 4010100Y WindTunnel Allergen Filtration Bag.
- I purchased two packages of bags and the price was the best I could find for the ones I needed for my Hoover. The bags look Hoover OEM and with the allergen filtrate which is great.
- I've owned my Hoover Windtunnel for about 3 years now. Type Y bags are between difficult and impossible to find replacement for....especially at WalMart. Amazon has, no doubt, the best price. The product is described quite well in the other Customer Reviews.... the bags work great.....they are a bit expensive..... they do tend to fill up quickly, but I own 3 dogs, Golden Retrievers, and I expect with their shedding I would look for the bag to fill quicker than usual..... When I replace the bag, I've found that if I place the machine on a low table, and lower the handle as low as it will go... almost flat, then the bag is horizontal, I can remove the bag quite easily with a minimum of dust spillage. I had some generic bags which came with a small wide piece of clear Scotch tape which one would use to seal the full bag. This feature is great when I am vacuuming for fleas........... but the Hoover Genuine product doesn't have this tape so I use a small piece of Scotch shipping tape to seal things up. I miss this feature. 5 Star Review is appropriate.
- I bought these bags as replacement bags and so far so good. They hold in my two dogs hair with no problem, helping to keep the carpet nice and clean.
- This vacuum works great. My only complaint is that the front cover that houses the vacuum bag falls off all the time......poorly put together I guess. Anyway, I taped it shut because I don't need to impress anyone and everything is fine now.
- We've owned Kirby's, Oreck's, others and, for the money, this one wins hands down. It's lightweight, easy to manuveur, and almost drives itself. We have a medium nap carpet and have our unit set on the highest setting. It's great on pet hair (we have a yellow lab) and does a good job along walls and corners. The bag check port is a nice feature. The cord could be six feet longer and the on/off switch should be foot-operated or on the handle rather than the bag housing. The accessories are o.k., but difficult to use on stairs. Overall, for general cleaning, the unit performs magnificently considering a price under $100.

- Seems to be a very good item. I am using it to trim my dogs toenails.
But some of the discs arrived broken, I didn't call it in, just figured it was only 4 of the little flat disc things wouldn't be worth it to you to send to me. But the item seems to be good for what I intended it to be for. thanks. Brenda
- I was looking for something to trim my 100lb dogs nails and this works well. The charge holds up to do all 10 nails at high speed. The housing is sound and strong (unlike the Pedicure for Pets). I can use it to do a number of tasks. The price is fair and it has a nice bag to carry all the items.
- This product is great. I use it for a bunch of projects around the house, especially filing my dogs toenails, so they don't scratch up the furniture or flooring!
- When I recieved my Dremmel it came with a carrying case and plenty of attachements for broader variety of uses. I was please to get all of this for a low price. Dremel MultiPro Cordless 7700-02 20,000 RPM Two-Speed 7.2V Rotary Tool System w/50 Accessories
- I've put it through a rugged test for over a month. Can't find anything at all wrong with it.
Just bought another one for my son's birthday. Hope it's just as good.

5 comments about Poulan Pro 18-Inch 4 HP Electric Chainsaw #400E.
- Excellent, great power and easy to use. It cut around a 32 inch tree stump in a few minutes with no problems, highly recommend this chainsaw.
- It was a bit of a surprise for me to find such power in an electric chainsaw. I was delighted that it took down trees that had become too large for their space--it did it with such ease; I looked around for more trees to fell. Then felt a bit guilty that it was such fun to use. I think it is more important to plant trees than to cut them down, so I plan on doing just that this fall. It had twice the power of a gas one that was loaned to me. I highly recommend it to others! I wish it came with a case, though.
- I recently had a branch fall off of a tree in my yard. Rather than pay the ~$200 for a one-time removal, I decided to buy a chainsaw and take care of it myself. After checking some reviews, this Poulan looked like it would fit the bill. It chewed through the branch (from 2" to 16" thick) in no time, and, being electric, was easy to start and stop during the process. As a bonus, it requires no oil-fuel mixing, so this ended up being a real treat to use.
- The item had been opened and resealed, I assume it was previously sold and returned. Chainsaw itself was clean and almost certainly had not been used or else it was cleaned up exceptionally well, but internal packaging was incorrect, manual was slightly damaged and it was not possible to tell for sure if anything was missing (for example, there was no parts manual. There was no listing of "What's Included" so there was no way to tell for sure if some contents had been pilfered or lost. Seller did not note that his items might be previously opened and returned.
- I bought this saw based on other reviews and was a little skeptical if it would work as well as a gas saw. Bottom line.........it does. Plenty of power, no gas to mix and add, much quieter than a gas saw. I did not experience any kickback while cutting down several trees in my backyard. A few things to keep in mind. Buy a heavy duty extension cord (12/3). I bought a 100' and 50'. Used them together and they worked fine. If you are doing a lot of cutting (about a cord) buy a gallon of bar oil. The saw uses it fairly quickly and if you buy a quart (like I did) you'll soon be back at the store for a gallon. A gallon is not much more than a quart (think paint pricing). Be sure to adjust the tension on the chain and check occassionally. The chain only fell off once and since then I check the tension more often. Let the saw fall through the wood (do not force it) and it will keep going all day. I'm also pretty impressed at how sharp the chain has stayed. The saw does not inlcude a case and the bar cover supplied is little more than a glorified baggie. That aside the saw is a joy to use. I keep looking for things to cut down.

- This is a tool which was too heavy for me. It is good for cutting wood, but the blade dulled quickly. Replacement blades are very expensive. It wasn't for me.
- I typically don't buy anything I see on an infomercial, but the multimaster looked like just the tool I needed. I must say, it was worth it. Expensive, but extremely flexible. I used it to repair a pull down attic staircase, cut copper pipes, and remove old glue from a vinyl floor. I was also able to cut a section of facial board without removing it from the house. I give this 5 stars because it's a great tool.
- This is by far the most useful tool I have ever seen, especially for detail work in remodeling etc... The only concern I have is that the attachment blades are expensive when needing to be replaced. The blades last a long time but cannot be forced into the work material. The blade must be allowed to work through the material at its own pace or you risk destroying the teeth. Great product!!!!
- Purchased this tool as a wedding gift. The packaging was well done although the tool seemed smaller than expected given the size of the box. Good tool; does live up to its name - "multimaster".
- I have used this tool just about as many times as I have used my cordless drill since I purchased it. As a sign of the times I have had to diversify into remodeling from new construction home building and this tool has saved me time, impressed clients, and has gotten me out of a pinch (as well as it pinching me too). GREAT TOOL! As of the pinching part, be careful of the tool lever that snaps when you put on an attachment. Go slow with this lever. It will catch you off gaurd if you are not careful. Small issue, but big results!

5 comments about First Alert PIR720RN Motion Sensing Light Socket.
- I have and use several of these units which fill a special need and are very convenient, particularly in basement and garage areas. There is nothing else like this available on the market. Home Depot used to carry them, but doesn't anymore. It turns out with the price of gas that dealing through Amazon was cheaper and more convenient.
- Beware. The light never turns off. There are no knobs or any way to adjust the time or sensitivity like other motion sensors. I used this in our attic. I have had it less than a few weeks. It worked fine for about a week, detecting motion and turning on then turning off after a few minutes, but now the light just stays on all the time. I would return it but I dont have the packaging/slip so I'm just out my $22.00.
- If you have an older home with pull string lights or then this is the best product for you. You never have to walk in or out of a dark room again.
- First Alert Motion Sensing Light Socket
I have pull chain lights in my walk in closets and when the chain broke and couldn't be fixed I looked for a new solution to the chain. My handyman suggested the sensor light socket. I could not find one at Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart or Target but the employee at Home Depot told me First Alert made one...so I went online, found it and bought 2 of them.
Fortunately for me, the closet I needed it in has the right elements for it to work properly. I've tried it in 2 other closets and it didn't work. It has to be low enough from the ceiling to sense when you walk in and if your light fixture is close to where you walk in, it doesn't read the movement. I had to jump up with my arm in the air to get it to sense movement in one of the closets.
It's a great concept and it works under the right conditions.
- Before installing this auto light switch I had to descend a dark stairway to my cellar. A definite safety issue.
Now with the motion sensing light socket in place the stairs are illuminated prior to my first step down.
A great product at a bargain price!

5 comments about Globe 23-Watt Mini Compact Fluorescent Spiral Bulb (100-Watt Incandescent Equivalent), Soft White, 4-Pack #48526.
- I would rather take the extra energy use than deal with the poisonous mercury in these bulbs. Most will be thrown away and make their way to our landfills where they will leak mercury into the ground. If enough of them end up there they could leak this mercury into underground water sources. Lets come up with another alternative to conventional bulbs.
- In preparation for Earth Day 2008, Amazon researched ways they could help "Green-up America." They put their buyers to work, scouting out the best, most economical, energy-saving products available. I'll share the results of their labor with you at the bottom of this review.
With this year's "Green" campaign, I decided to get serious and do more than I had already done: All my household appliance are energy-savers, I'm fastidious about picking up litter around my neighborhood and recycling; and am always conscious of our planet. So what else could I do?
Suddenly it dawned on me that I'd been meaning to replace all the light bulbs in my home with energy-saving fluorescent bulbs. When fluorescent lighting became available in the small bulb sizes, I was hesitant to use them, thinking they'd flicker and look unnatural like the ones I had in my office years ago. But I tried a few of them last year and was pleasantly surprised to find they don't flicker and the lighting is fine. At that time I thought of putting them all over the house, but procrastinated. ... Well, you know how that is. ...
Well, now I'm seriously "Greening," so that's why I purchased these today; it's the easiest, most practical "extra" thing I can do. I ordered these 100-watt bulbs for reading lamps and some of the 60-watts for other areas. And now I feel good about myself because CFLs use approximately 70% less energy than incandescent bulbs and produce the same light output. One CFL bulb lasts from 8,000 to 10,000 hours or up to 10 years. This saves money in energy costs and bulb purchases when compared to regular incandescent bulbs.
Following is the information I promised at the beginning of this review: Amazon is offering other "Greening" products, many of them on sale from April 21-23 at 50% price reduction. Today is the last day to save, so visit Amazon's Gold Box and Lighting Deals for "Greening" your home. Visit this link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=pe_26250_8991210_ecg2/?ie=UTF8&docId=1000220611
EARTH DAY was yesterday, but "Greening" is an ongoing process that must continually be addressed.

The Toonies Invade Silicon Valley
- I agree with Betty Dravis and I wish I had her eyes for a bargain. "Betty Dravis Eyes", somehow sounds familiar. Well anyway these bulbs not only last longer they save a good deal of electricity. I have a hall light that seems like I was replacing it with conventional bulbs every couple weeks, a month at most. When I replaced it with a fluorescent bulb like this one it lasted 3 months at least and then the only reason I think it went out is the freight train that shakes the house after thirty years of rattling the rafters made the fixture flakey as a week old croissant.
- Globe fluorescent spiral bulbs yield the same brightness as ordinary 100 watt bulbs. The light from these energy saving bulbs is nice and bright, and I like the fact that they last a lot longer than ordinary bulbs.
- they burb out quickly at least when used in an upside down lamp, 3 burned out so far sylvanias keep going

- I have purchased and enjoyed using the makita driver a lot for screws, woodworking projects and finishing work on my new home. I have since purchased two more drivers as thank you gifts for family I liked them so much. They are light and great for most jobs. I use the dewalt for heavier jobs but not as much as the makita... its just plain easier with less weight!
- Simple comments:
I am not a contractor. I am fixing up my co-op however.
Does everything you'd expect.
No, not the battery power of the larger batteries, but you end up with 3 batteries with the limited time mail-in freebee. Plus, I received the free battery via mail-in in a very short time.
All items fit in the case nice and compactly.
Great bang for the buck.
P.S. I will be ready for the next great blackout - the flashlight and batteries that came with my 14.4 Makita served me well during the last one.
- I got the 3 piece kit at a good price. However, the drill had a massive wobble - visible and noticable even without a bit. I returned the first set for a replacement (kudos Amazon) and hope #2 will be better. No doubt he chuck is of poor quality, but it acutally seemed like the shaft may have been the source of the shake.
The kit is a decent value but I was a little dissapointed with the overall quality - definitely Makita's "value" line. That being said I did opt for a replacement instead of a refund. If the second set arrives without the wobble I'll be happy with the tools for the price.
- I am very happy with the performance of all three pieces in this kit. The impact driver worked better than the drill for removing some stubborn screws in my deck (although it is pretty loud!). The batteries and charger work great, very fast charging and good status indicators on the charger.
My only complaint is that the ink on the "Makita" label on the side of the impact driver came off on my hand during use. Surely, the ink wasn't that fresh! I expect better quality from Makita. Time will tell how everything else holds up.
- This is the first impact driver I've used. It works great to get out stubborn screws without stripping the heads. You can screw straight into a knot of hardwood with this. It's got torque to spare. The kit comes in a carrying case which is nice but if you want to put the drill or driver in your tool box you will find the universal charger to big to do so. Amazon ad said there's a battery rebate to get another battery which did not come with the kit. So I guess I am out of luck on that. The kit doesn't come with the belt clip so if you want one get it from ebay. Still this is the best driver kit at this price and can't be beat.
