5 comments about Milwaukee 8975-6 Dual Temperature Heat Gun, 11.6 Amp, 570/1000 Degree Fahrenheit.
- This is a super little gun. Quiet, powerful and gets the job done. Currently used to roast coffee, makes short work of 2 pounds of greens.
- This thing heats up in a second, and real hot too. We use it for shrinkwrapping bottles. Its working great so far, we've had it for a month now
- Did everything I needed. I use it to strip paint and varnish off of wooden doors. Had it on for hours, no problems.
- Bought this heat gun to remove and replace some old linoleum/vinyl floor tiles. The heat gun quickly loosened the adhesive and the tiles for easy removal. I recommend this product.
- The heat gun works great on shrink tubing. We repair trailer wiring and the heat gun is faster and much safer then using a torch.

5 comments about Coleman Cable Indoor Footswitch Extension Cord #9493.
- We have a few light sources that don't have an on/off switch, but with these you don't have to keep plugging them in and unplugging them, plus our small children can now "turn on" those lights.
- These extension cords are fantastic. I connected it to an item that only turns on when plugged in...no on/off switch on this. Using this cord I'm able to turn it on and off when I want. I don't know why stores don't keep these in stock all year. For some reason they seem to think they only sell at Christmas time for the trees. Great product.
- This is a great extension cord - we used it for our Christmas tree and the switch is so easy to use! It's great that the switch lights up, too, so that it's easy to find in a dark room. Highly recommended!
- I thought this product was great until I bothered to read the packaging that came with it. The Amazon description does not say this, but on the packaging it states that this extension cord cannot be used for more than 90 days or else there is a fire hazard. Also, you might have missed, as I did, the inconspicuous link on the product page for California residents (presumably because only California has laws protecting consumers from this) that goes to a page that says the product has chemicals that are known to cause cancer and birth defects. It's also worth noting that the manufacturer has discontinued this product. If you're just using this product seasonally for holiday decorations, perhaps you won't mind, but I'd avoid this extension cord, especially if you have kids in the house or are expecting.
- Simple product that can be placed between outlet and lamp (etc) to allow on/off via foot.
I have since seen a similar product that has a backlit button making it easier to find in the dark.
Overall very satisfied.

- These are very bright. I use them on my entry way stairs and they are great right out of the box.
- I bought a pair and put them up myself ...a great DIY item that is eco-friendly. I bought another pair for the back yard. They are great!
- I ordered two packs (4 lamps). Three work and look nice (I recommend these lamps). Unfortunately, one came broken. That's why I only gave it 3 stars.
- Follow the instructions and let them charge for a few days. They are very easy to mount. They are not spot light bright, but give off enough light to prove very useful & the best thing is that they don't use any electricity. They are just bright enough to illuminate over my 800 square foot back yard patio.
- These lights are very contemporaty and large. They have a blue-white light (typical solar light) but look great day and night. Just enough light to see, but not ruin night vision. The light points down, so great for stairs and pointing out features. They mount easily, just need a drill and level. They need to be in direct sunlight for min of 5-6 hours per day to be effective. I would consider buying more of these, or other lights or products from SoHo Decor. Delivery was very prompt.

5 comments about Bucket Boss Brand 06005 Contractors Briefcase.
- I work(ed) as a project engineer traveling throughout the country, carrying this bag, for 2 years. It survived over 200 flights per year, being dropped in the dirt at job sites, has been overstuffed with my laptop, power brick, 2" of file folders, 2 to 3 engineering books, cell phone, pda, mouse, a dozen CDs, checkbook, gloves, eyeglasses, safety glasses, half a dozen legal pads, two dozen pens and pencils, two drafting rulers, lan cable, power adapters, usb cables, usb 4-port hub, mini-multi-outlet, travel network hub, and more. Sure it's jammed and wieghs a ton when it is that full, but the bag can hold it and hold up to it. It is soft-sided, so when it isn't jam-packed full it 'feels like a much smaller bag'.
It isn't as 'elegant' as some bags, but in my hands it outlasted my Samsonite rolling contractor bag, my Tumi toughbag, and any of several attempts at leather bags. To me, elegant is being able to carry everything I need without the ultimate loss of elegance -- not having something, or having a bag that self-destructs while I am at a customer's site.
The two features I find most helpful are: 1) The laptop compartment faces up, allowing you to pull your laptop out at airport security very conveniently while keeping the bag on your shoulder, and 2) all the exterior pockets are well secured with big zippers and compression straps, to make sure your stuff doesn't sprawl all over the floor when you do eventually accidentally drop it.
For someone who is looking for a highly versatile, exceptionally durable laptop or document bag that happens to be availabe at a great price -- this is your bag.
After 2 years of abusive service mine looks very rough, one of the metal clips that hold the shoulder strap did break but was easily replaced with a $1.99 caribiner, and one of the zippers is stubborn but functional.
- Bag is well made and looks great, though I think it could have been a little bigger. The reviews on the larger "Pro" bag turned me away from it, but I really like this bag.
I work in a corporate office and I think it looks great with everything I'm wearing and it's different from the bags that everyone else carries.
- I have been pleased with my purchase of the Bucket Boss Briefcase. It is replacing a leather man-purse that was constantly falling apart. The Bucket Boss is well constructed and is holding up well to heavy and rough working conditions. Lots of pockets for folders, tools, and gadgets! Very utilitarian, wish there was a more stylish version and an inch or two wider would make this the perfect man-purse.
- My husband, who's an HVAC installer (for over 17yrs) is very pleased with this case. He's now organized for various sales calls, service issues and staffing issues. The case is strong and holding up well.
- I was really disappointed when I received this. The color pictured, a rather muted brown, was what I was hoping for. Instead, this thing looks like someone took that dye and mixed a can of day-glo orange in with it. It's heinous. Maybe it was meant for contractors to be able to find it at the bottom of the ocean or in the event of a nuclear war or something, I don't know. The main color doesn't match the trim either.
It's a shame too, because I really like the way the thing is made. It's sturdy and the material is heavy without being too stiff. It's comfortable to carry and the pocket layout is very intelligent and spacious. I would carry this thing for years if it was the color pictured.
Overall, very disappointed. Would not recommend this, based on the color alone. I wouldn't have given it a second glance at a retail store, except maybe to confirm that the purchaser for that store had lost their mind.

5 comments about Fenner Drives 0418030SL PowerTwist Plus V-Belt.
- I received my PowerTwist Plus V-Belts and have installed one of them on my 6 inch sander. It was very easy to install and took out all of the belt vibration. I also have had one on my table saw for several years and the results are the same. Very good product and easy to install.
- ...it sure didn't work for me. In spite of having balanced the wheels and having installed and carefully aligned machined cast iron V-belt pulleys, my Delta bandsaw still had an annoying vibration. Since the belt was old and worn and had taken a bit of a set, I figured that had to be the problem. So after reading the gushing reviews here, I bought a Power Twist belt. No dice. If anything, it made the vibration worse. Since it's still a functional drive belt, I'll give it two stars, but it certainly fell far short of expectations.
- I bought the Powertwist Plus V-Belt to replace the auto belt that came with my Jet Contractor Saw. I have owned the saw for a year, but had just seen this product a few weeks ago. I had just upgraded to a Forrest blade and was disappointed in the blades performance as far as getting a smooth glue line rip that all the reviewers were raving about. I though my saw was a bit loud and vibrated a lot and it was recommended to me to try this V-Belt. I thought $6 a foot was a bit high for a V-Belt, but if it worked it would be worth it. It took me less than five minutes to take the old auto belt off, adjust the Powertwist V-Belt to length and install it. When I first turned on the machine I just started laughing with joy. Literally NO VIBRATION!!! I could not believe it(Now, keep in mind my tablesaw in all other aspects is leveled just under perfection using Incra guaranteed squares and Stabila levels). I ran some wood through and now I have a smooth glue line rip. I now understand why people rave about Forrest blades and the PowerTwist V-Belt so much. They really do work!!!!
- I bought a gorgeous old Jet contractor's saw. It was in good condition, but it SHOOK violently when it was turned on and off. I had heard a lot about this kind of vibration-reducing belt and I figured a new belt couldn't hurt.
I could not be happier. The vibration is all but gone. I was hoping for some reduction, but I was amazed.
Granted, this was an older saw with an older belt, so I don't know how much of the reduction was due to the better belt or just that the older belt was worn out, but I was amazed and would definitely suggest picking this up if you have a vibration.
- 99% of these reviews are written by people who replaced the OEM belt with one of these. Which means they're comparing the cheapest belt the OEM could buy to an over priced thing.
I've compared these belts to GOOD v belts and don't see any advantage in terms of vibration dampening.
A Gates Cogged Hi-Power belt runs about 1/4 of the price of these and produces the same amount of vibration. In addition to this at the same tension (ie not stressing the motor) the link belt was more prone to slippage when the tool was loaded down than the Hi-Power.

2 comments about Energy Saving Smart Strip With Autoswitching Technology and Coaxial Surge Protection #SCG5.
- It took several tries to "train" the smart strip to affect my speakers, my monitor, and my printer at the same time. In addition, after you use the primary outlet for the computer, and two of the "constant" outlets, you really only have 4 outlets for peripherals, which was somewhat fewer than I was expecting. Maybe I just need to read the description, though.
- I was excited to try the Smart Strip product, and it works as advertised as long as I manually turn off my main device (iMac). Unfortunately, it's not nearly as useful as I had hoped since it doesn't properly detect when my iMac puts itself to sleep and then turn off the power. I've tried adjusting the potentiometer in case it's a matter of the Smart Strip's setting, but the result is the same.

5 comments about Sonin 10075 Laser Target Range Finder.
- I was a bit deceived when I saw this. It says "Laser Target Range Finder" and would have you beleive it actually uses a laser to measure. It doesn't. It uses ultrasound with a laser sight. Ultrasound is very imprecise. It expands like a cone so at 60 feet your target is several feet across.
Read the accuracy on this, 99.5% +/- 1/4" What that means is at 60 ft. you could get an error of almost 4". Instead, get a true laser measure, that are now available for under $100. They are accurate to +/- 1/4" at 100 ft. Do the math. That's almost 16 times as accurate.
- After reading reviews on several distance measuring devices, I chose to try this Sonin unit, even though there were several concerns about accuracy. The unit has been well within my need for accurate measures of room dimensions, ceiling heights and even measurements of up to 40 feet. Great time-saving device and beats the standard tape measure.
- Despite the word "laser" being used in a rather deceptive manner in this product's name, it uses ultrasound technology, not laser, to determine the measurements; the laser is just there to... er... what is it there for? Aiming the "sonic beam"? Yeah, right. It's there to justify the use of the word "laser" in the product name, and that's about it.
The joke is that you don't have to spend that much more to get a real laser tape measure that works well, like the CST/Stanley 77-910 TLM100 FatMax Tru-Laser 1/4-Inch at 100 Feet Laser Measurer.
Don't waste your money on this useless product.
- I was very interested in this device to remove any errors from outdoor measurements exceeding 25'. After receipt I tried a few measurements indoors and got error messages for anything over about 15'. After checking the battery and discovering it was questionable I replaced it with a new "Energizer" and tried it outdoors measuring distance
from my garage door. I could only manage about 28', any-
thing longer gave error 1 messages. Not quite the 60' claimed!Sonin 10075 Laser Target Range Finder
- This product does not have as many features as some of its competitors, but it does what it says it will do.

5 comments about Factory-Reconditioned Homelite 26cc Gas-Powered MightyLite Hedge Trimmer (Non-CARB Compliant) #ZR40502.
- As usual Amazon service was excellent. I was aware of no return policy. When filling the fuel tank for the first time the cap leaked and had to tightned with a wrench to stop the leak. The cap still has to over tightened to prevent leaking and makes it very difficult to remove for re-fueling. After first use the engine was very hard to start when warm. The manual states to not return to the vendor but to call Homelite for advice. Their advice was only to return to Home Depot. When advised that I purchased at Amazon the advice was take it to repair facility. I removed the spark plug and the amount of carbon indicates heavy prior use. I will never purchase a Homelite product again - new or reconditioned. This was simply a used unit made to look new - reconditioning was not apparent..
- It broke the first day I used it. I was not aware of Amazons no return policy on gas powered tools so now I have to find another way to get some satisfaction from this thing. Did not like the way it cut either when it did work.
- I was first hesitant to purchase since it was reconditioned but I am glad I went ahead with it. The trimmer works as if it is new. It started right up and though it gets a little heavy after extended use, I would recommend the purchase of this trimmer. The price is right and you will be satisfied. It went above my expectations of a reconditioned unit.
- I don't understand the complaints about how it broke right away . . bla. . bla. . bla. It comes with a 1 year factory warranty. Take it to a factory service center and they fix it for free. Just be sure to put gas stabilizer in the fuel and it starts right up even after sitting for over a year.
Update:
The manager of the local hardware store provided some helpful information on this subject. It seems that a number of the smaller stores have stopped selling 2-cycle tools altogether and the larger stores only handle warranty issues through the factory because of the problem with returns.
People either through ignorance of neglect often damage these items and then want their money back. The small (and many larger) places do not have the expertise to differentiate between a factory defect and user damage so they refund the money. It is only when the store attempts to return the item to the factory (who can tell the cause of the failure) and the claim is rejected so the store must absorb the cost. With items ranging in price upwards of $125.00 each it does not take many of these returns to have a real effect on the stores net cash flow.
One possible scenario goes something like this. Many users do not realize that 2-cycle engines do not have an oil sump and must get lubrication mixed in with the fuel. The new owner goes to use the device but does not have a separate container (sometimes even the oil for mixing in the gas). They often fail to read the instructions and just put the same 4-cycle gas they use in the lawn mower into the 2-cycle engine. The engine runs for a few minutes and then is destroyed. It is then they want to return the item.
The bottom line. If you buy a 2-cycle device be sure to have second can with fresh (just for the 2-cycle) gas before you try to use it. Mix the gas with the oil. Also mix in some stabilizer as it will greatly increase the life of the fuel. A half gallon will usually last the summer. Good luck.
- Nice Product, Great Value, Works Well. Was concerned when the box it arrived in was partially collapsed and had several holes in it. Amazon needs to do a little better job of packaging with this product, and in general. I had to return items from two other orders this year due to damage in shipping. In both cases they were not well packaged. In both cases though, customer service sent me out a replacement and I sent them back the damaged product. In this case, with it being a gas tool and the zero return policy, I would have been out of luck had it been badly damaged in shipping.

2 comments about OnGuard Brute STD 5001 Bike U-Lock.
- It's a super sturdy lock that someone would have to be crazy to attempt to defeat. I don't give it five stars because The short length of the shaft sometimes makes it a pain to attach it to bike racks, but with enough creativity, I've never had to leave my bike unlocked. OnGuard does offer the Brute in a Long Shaft version (LS 5000), but for some reason the updated version doesn't include a theft guarantee for bicycles, only motor vehicles. The picture Amazon shows is for last year's model, so maybe you can still get a long shaft with the guarantee. If not, go for the standard length, it's a "don't mess with me" lock.
- It is heavy duty, and I would commend anyone that was able to steal my bike when it is locked up with this. If you are worried about security, this is the way to go. If you want something compact and light, this is the wrong lock to buy. I park on a college campus everyday, and I have absolutely no fear when I lock my bike up and go to class. I love the lock, and would purchase it again. It comes with 5 keys, and locks very smoothly. I definitely recommend this lock.
