  1. Very happy with this purchase. It is loaded with clear discussions of basic home wiring concepts and very good diagrams. Easy to understand and find what you're interested in.

One thing to keep in mind, there is only so much detail and instruction you can get from this kind of book. For code-related questions or more complex wiring, it gets (by necessity) vague and generalized. Not suprising considering the complexity of national and local codes. Still, for someone trying to understand their home wiring, troubleshoot it, or plan basic projects, I think it's a good buy.

  1. A once excellent text on electrical systems for facilities managers or building systems engineers. Still has much to offer as a basic information/theory text. However much has changed in the requirements for electrical systems in buildings since 1988. From a practical standpoint a rewrite is in order. A companion, up to date National Electrical Code is suggested when using this text.

  1. hello sir i am souravbh chawla.Iwant to know about a software {CAD}in textile.could please give me detail of designing of cod in textile (in book)

  2. Unfortunately, the book is now obsolete. The software is now known as Orcad Capture, version 9.2, and Orcad Layout, version 9.2, there are little similarities between the current software and the processes described in the book.

3 comments about Electronic Devices: Electron Flow Version (4th Edition).
  1. I started this book as a student at Withlacoochee Technical Institute, under the instruction of a student of the electron flow since his teen years. Since then, the education I have received has been profitable both financially and intellectually. The graduating students are sought after, the class has become well known and it can only result from the benefit of excellent text and a formidable instructor, who teaches from this book. Buy it, read it, study it and learn from a profitable investment.

  2. (Ajman Univesity of science and technology) This is the best book to understand the material .I challenge you If you read it and can't understand.

  3. Electron flow is ok in a beginning circuits course (just AC, DC circuits.. without semiconductor devices).

But once u get into semiconductors.. electron flow is terrible. The world is built around conventional current, not electron flow.

If you buy a book with Electron flow.. ur going to see current coming out of grounds all over the places. A ground on the top left corner of a circuit.. a ground on the bottom left corner.. etc. etc... and it wasn't designed for it to eb like that... it's all designed with a +Vcc at the top.. and grouns all over the places.. current usually flows from +Vcc.. splits up into the different grounds.. with electron flow.. it comes from all the grounds.. then join up in weird ways to exit the +Vcc power supply...

This book is terrible (like all electron flow books).

BUTTTT Floyd's Conventional Flow version of this book is quite good

5 comments about Fundamentals of Analog Circuits (2nd Edition).
  1. Found many mistakes in this text.
Sometimes the author usese detailed analysis, and sometimes the author usesly overly simplified approximations (which is not suitable at the community college level).

The only colour you will see in this text is blue, and the font is so light too.

Good book if you already know electronics inside out.

  2. Fundamentals of Analog Circuits, 2nd Edition is worthwhile both as an analog electronics textbook and as a post-course reference. In this text the author covers the essentials of analog circuits, beginning with introductory AC topics, progressing through basic semiconductors devices such as diodes, bipolar junction and field effect transistors, advancing to discrete and operational amplifiers, and culminating with functional circuit blocks such as amplifiers and filters. The text contains numerous examples, section reviews, chapter references, chapter problems, and answers to selected problems to clarify course concepts and reinforce learning. A standout feature of this text is that it includes material for developing practical as well as theoretical proficiency in electronics. Background in algebra, basic trigonometry, and the introductory electronic concepts (voltage, current, resistance, Ohm's Law, Kirchhoff's Laws, etc.) is required and assumed, but anyone comfortable with these topics should have no problems in mastering the topics in this book.

  3. nothing new, no original material. Seems to have been taken from 10 different books and abridged into one. Doesn't need to be in anyone's library.

  4. This is an excellent book for teaching analog circuits for an Electronics Technology degree. It explains in algebra how the basic transistor works and continues well beyond the Op Amp into the regulator and communication systems.

  5. I bought this book for use as a review of electronic circuits to keep my skills up to date... It's amazing what one forgets through a 30 year career...

I found this book to be VERY informative and recommend it to anyone wanting to learn or refresh their knowledge of electronic components & circuits...

  1. I took the intro test and I've got an MSEE (almost finished a PHd. Admittedly I've been away from practice for years. However, I found at least three arguable choices and one outright wrong answer in the first exam. "Autoranging" does not mean the capability to change scales, it means scales are changed automatically. Anyway I enjoyed the test and found it fairly comprehensive and a good refresher. I just HATE finding typos in technical books, especially if it's something I'm being graded on. I hope the rest of the book is more accurate and I'll be happy to trade email with the editors if they wish to do so.

  2. J.J. CORTEZ SAYS IT IS GREAT

  3. This book is good but not the best, if youre studying for an entry level civil service test. Many of its questions are on motors. A good basic electricity textbook by Floyd would help better. Good Luck!

  1. My husband had me purhase this for him for work. He is an Electrial Maintance Mechanic. He says this is a quick way to figure out problems at work. A must have.

  2. To much information to even start. It has many, many tables, charts, examples, general information, math, trigonometry, NEC exception references and of course stuff like derating factors, conduit fill, device fill, electrode conductor size ohms law, Henry's law, Kirchoff's law on and on and on.

Let's put it this way, it takes up less space than the NEC and has almost the same amount of info that is not normally used (conduit fill and conductor properties for example).

  3. Good manual not for beginners, but it could help for some. Very thorough and planned out.

  4. My husband just graduated and starting new job - he wanted this for reference book. Book in great condition and shipped in a timely manner.

  5. The best and toughest little electrician's pocket reference that I've seen. I've been through three of them during the past 15 years. The "spiral" plastic sheet binder tended to break after extended abuse over time, so I spot glued the binder ring laps on this new book with E-6000 glue.
