  1. The set is ok overall...good price, free shipping, and good reviews convinced me to buy this set.

Now, after about a month, It continues to have a greenish tint when using the Colorstream HD input.

I'm going to call TOshiba support and see what can be done. Hopefully, I won't have to send it back.

  2. I was looking for the largest CRT HDTV that I could fit in my existing cabinet and stumbled across this set by Toshiba. The picture quality is very good, stunning in HDTV, but the sound leaves a little to be desired. My 14 year old Zenith had much better sound quality. The TV is loaded with features and provides plenty of inputs to plug in just about any a/v device known to man. The only things I would change would be the time it takes to tune each station which can make channel surfing a little tedious and the sound quality.

  3. Stunning picture, looks good on My Wii, and great colors. Be sure to put BBE on for sound, because it sounds less tinny then. My only gripes are overscan, which from the looks of it is really bad, but it's picture is good enough to warent purchase. Really good, and great picture.

  4. I have a built-in television cabinet in my living room, so I could only purchase an HDTV that was 26" or less wide. I was looking for a 1080i picture, as well. After lots of research, I decided on the Toshiba 26HF66 and I am thrilled at the bargain I got. The picture is unbelievable, and the sound is so strong, I typically only turn it up to 1/4 or its total volume. It is able to handle all HD formats, and the price is what really made it an amazing purchase for me. Now I'm looking for a big screen to go in my basement, and Toshiba is at the top of my list, thanks to this awesome mid-sized TV.

  5. I am not one for words. It is a good tv, everthing it was advertised to be.

  1. This is a follow-up to my previous review:
The picture died on me a month ago (Aug 07). It has something to do with the tv tuner. The LCD display and backlights are still great, but the TV tuner, which was always very very weak (bad signal and popping sounds), finally just died. I called Viewsonic several times in the year that I owned it, but they said it was normal, or sent me off on some bogus diagnostic goose chase. Two months after the 1 year warranty was over it died. DRATS!!! VIEWSONIC, YOU'VE FOILED ME THIS TIME. HOPE YOU HAD A GREAT PARTY WITH MY MONEY. I found a Samsung 32" as a replacement; out-of-box so I got it real cheap, and I spent the money for a three year warranty through the store! I love mail order, but sometimes you can really get screwed.

    -----------------
The TV picture isn't as good as a tube (no suprise!), but the dvd picture as great!
Remote is ok, and the features are easy enough to find, but I can't find remote codes for a universal. I used a cheap programmable remote to input all the features I wanted; it took about 20 minutes, and it works fine. I had to do the same thing for my dvd player and some of the features on my vcr: lesson learned- buy a programmable remote! (less than 20 bucks).

The input options are easy to find, if somewhat limited. I am able to adjust the settings to get a pretty good picture. The info on the manual is very limited, but it appears that each input remembers its settings, so you don't have to readjust the TV input when you switch from the DVD input.

Beautiful cabinet, and small footprint for a 27" widescreen. FYI, the picture is about 50% smaller than a 27" square tube for a standard 4:3 tv broadcast, but it's about 18% larger for a widescreen (16:9) broadcast or dvd.

Strange problem: the remote doesn't work if the backlight is set to 'dark' or 'medium', but it works fine of it is set to 'bright'. I guess I'll be shipping it back to ViewSonic to get it fixed. Otherwise, I am very happy with this machine for the price.

  2. I bought my N2750w in April of 2006. In October of 2006 it started flaking out until all I would get is a blue screen and sometimes sound. It was not very heavily used - my wife and I just used it to watch the nightly news in our bedroom. The warranty return went without a hitch - I dropped the set off at the Walnut, Calif. headquarters, and about 3 weeks later the TV showed up at my front door. We put it back into the bedroom. Roughly 8 and a half months later, it just stopped working - turning it on results in nothing - no lights, no sound. I called Viewsonic, but because it is now more than a year since the original receipt, it is no longer under warranty. I used to think Viewsonic made high quality products, but to have two failures in 13 months sort of makes me think otherwise. So buyer beware - for $800, I was expecting this LCD TV to last more than 13 months. Viewsonic gave the number of a local out of warranty service center. I'm still wondering if I should get it fixed or not.

  3. I agree with just about everything people are saying on here about this TV. Great picture, tons of connection options and, yeah, having no remote codes is a pain. I got this to use as a combination TV/PC Monitor and the picture was more than fine - until last week. This just happens to coincide with the 13th month of owning it. Started noticing dark streaks on the blue screen you get when the set is switched to an unused input. Now the picture, as TV or monitor, is just fading slowly - darker and darker. At this rate, I figure I only have a week, maybe two, before I'm back in the stores looking for a new TV. I'm hoping this is just a case of getting what you pay for. I bought it because it looked like a bargain price for it's size and the options. But $500 a year for throw-away televisions doesn't seem like much of a bargain to me.
To top it all off, it seems Viewsonic is quite pleased to have my money. The emails I've sent to get some help have been simply ignored. That's pretty good considering what I read on their home page.

"At ViewSonic, we are devoted to customer satisfaction and committed to positive relationships with every company and individual with whom we do business. We strive to understand your interests and concerns, and treat you with respect, courtesy and consideration. ViewSonic's customer and technical support are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week."

    Yeah, right...

  4. I have been using the Viewsonic N2750 for about two years now and have nothing but good things to say about it. This TV/Monitor has served both purposes; as an HD TV and a computer monitor.

As a TV, the color is full and quality is decent. Obviously we are not talking about a full-blown HD unit here as far as quality goes, but for our purposes, which is to move it around where we need it in the house (home office computer, family room tv fill in) this product fits the bill.

As a monitor, we felt the picture was not as clean for use with our computers, but there are many options for hooking up devices and the viewing area is great.

We give this product 4-stars for it's good quality overall and versatility.

  5. I purchased this TV/Monitor about 1 1/2 years ago. I have not had a very good experience with it. For several months I couldn't turn it off because to turn it on again it might take several frustrating minutes (or longer) to get it turned on and to stay on. If you can get it to stay on, keep it on or go through the frustration to getting it on again. The other thing that I have to say is that if you are going to use it as a monitor I wouldn't recomend it because, believe it or not, it does burn images in it of different things. Yes, some of them dissipate and others I am still waiting for them to go away. When I play solitare I have to keep moving it or it will burn in, in about 2 minutes or less!

I have had other monitors made by Viewsonic and that is what led me to this one but this one is nothing like what they made in the past! It does have a lot of great features but they need to put those features into a better TV/Monitor!!! The HDTV part is great if that is what you are going to use it for once you get it to stay on.

Do yourself a favor and really re-think this model if you are interested in it.

  1. I found an amazing deal on this TV at Conn's and decided to go out on a limb with this TV, even though I really haven't heard much about Norcent's plasmas. I'm really glad I did! It has every feature you could want, and I have been very happy with the sound quality compared to the other, more expensive plasmas I looked at. Of course, we're not talking Bose quality sound, but it's plenty for everyday TV (who really wants to hear Dora in surround sound anyway?). Also, the picture is amazing even using plain old component cables. I have heard so many complaints about TV's that cost twice as much as i paid for this one; all-in-all, you can't beat this TV.

  2. I purchased a Norcent PT4240hd for around $1700 in March of 2006.
I was fairly happy with this TV until it suddenly quit working after only 15 months of use. It will power on but the screen is dead.
Norcent only warrants their TV's for one year. Not a good buy when you have such a short warranty.

5 comments about Sony Grand WEGA KF-42WE610 42-Inch HDTV-Ready LCD Rear Projection TV.
  1. Breathtaking is the only way to describe watching at a nature documentary on this television. I'd admired this model long before it came out on the Sony website, but I became somewhat concerned as I heard reports of initial problems. Finally, after I had several friends who had this tv who hadn't experienced problems, I decided to bite the bullet and get my own. (No, I didn't become friends with them just because they owned my coveted television.) I've been immensely pleased with my purchase. It's just beautiful.

The only thing strange about it is that it (the case?) makes this strange noise on occasion that sounds as if something is expanding or contracting inside.

  2. I bought this kind LCD projection TV back oct. 2003. Less than 2 hours per day watching by average. It's lamp burned out last week and cost $200 to replace it by yourself. It is hard to open panel to reach the lamp box. Too expensive to maintain.

  3. How can someone say great value for a $2500 television? Well, compared to comparably sized plasma and DLP sets, the 42WE610 is inexpensive.

Cutting to the chase - This set will appeal to you if:
-You desire a very bright screen (this set is BRIGHT!) which can perform even in daylight
-You would like a slim TV (much smaller than CRT, about a foot deep)
-You see rainbows on DLP sets
-You don't have $4000 or more for an HDTV plasma (not EDTV panels which are cheaper)

    This set's cons are:
    - a somewhat lackluster black level (which can be tweaked very effectively by either professional calibration or online research)
    - sporadic reports of problems, which all seem to be resolved as of mid-2004.

Subjectively, I feel this set outperforms plasma screens, as the pixel structure is not as easy to see, and for the brightness levels achievable (wouldn't want to burn in that plasma!).

I also feel it outperforms DLP, because the picture is less noisy and there are no rainbow effects (trails of color on high contrast images caused by the viewer's perception of the color wheel which separates 1-chip DLP white light into colors). DLP has slightly better blacks, but they're very close. In my opinion, the Grand Wega generally produces a picture which is less noisy and more "film-like."

In summary, anyone would be pleased with this set's overall performance. I haven't regretted the purchase once in over a year.

  4. My husband anounced one day, we were going shopping for a new TV. (Although I was not aware there was a problem with the one we owned) After an hour of drooling in the plasma section we rounded the corner & both of us said, LOVE IT!! it had the best picture there. Now, a year and a half later, I am still amazed at the piture quality. It seems like you right there with the photograher! Every once in a while it powers on with a crazy screen but turn it off & wait 10 minutes or so & it is fine. (service stated it is like your computer-sometimes it mis-loads upon firing up) I would cetainly buy it again!! I have been happy with Sony products in the past but they out did themselves this time.

  5. I have this tv. Apparently the optical engine on this thing goes at the 2 year point. Sony is very aware of the problem. Lucky for me I spent 340 bucks for an extended warantee. I would suggest you do the same. The optical engine costs $1100 to fix. Depending on your timing of when the thing breaks you could be out a tv for a while since this part gets backordered all the time.

I do love the picture on this tv but BUY THE WARANTEE...
