5 comments about Sylvania LD200SL8 20-Inch LCD TV with Built-In DVD Player.
- I couldn't be happier. I wanted a wall mount, approx. 19" flat screen TV with a built in DVD player. This TV met all my needs, which I found is hard to come by. Not only is the TV great, but it was delivered in 2 days.
- I ordered this item with the shipping time between may 5 -8. Om may 8th I was told that it was out of stock. I had already thrown out my old TV and took a day off from work, then that afternoon I receive the e-mail. I went back to my open orders to leave feedback and get refund and it was magically gone. I hope I get my refund. Do NOT TRUST ELECTRONIC EXPESS BUY FROM ANY ONE ELSE.
VERY UNHAPPY IN NEW YORK(JANICE) Product Sylvania LD 200SL8 20" LCD TV WITH BUILT IN dvd player, it might have been a good product but I will never know
- I purchased 8 of these for my furnished apartments. I was looking for a large enough screen, a dvd player and good price. I found all of these in this TV set. The image is a little cold and even after making adjustments for warmth and color and tone, I still think the image is too cold. But the price is right and my guests are happy!
- I'm happy enough with this TV but mostly for its price and picture quality. The remote is filled with tiny buttons and very small print. The sound quality is tinny and not remarkable at all. I only use this TV as a supplement to my office so it's not my primary viewing experience, and for this purpose it's fine. But if you're looking for a new TV for your living room, or where ever you do your primary viewing, I would buy a higher-end TV than this.
- I purchased this in Dec. 2007 and was very pleased with:
ease of setup, picture quality and color tone. Am a bit of
a cheapskate, so boosted the rather low sound with computer
speakers and the headphone jack...It even played a DVD I'd
created in iDVD w/ no troubles at all ;-)
Was worried about buying my first 'combo' as it seems one part always
seems to fail...
Have been having major problems the past couple of weeks with the DVD player:
skipping, freezing, and just not working well at all! Cleaned discs,
ran cleaning discs through the player - nothing is helping. Hauled-out
my former DVD player to check a particularly troublesome DVD
- and no playback/freezing at all! [All were movies / store-bought.]
Read some other reviews where folks have DVD's permanently stuck
in the mechanism...unfortunately, I think that's where mine is headed!
Will keep my fingers crossed - and the old player setup just in case.

5 comments about Samsung HLT5089S 50-Inch Slim LED Engine 1080p DLP HDTV.
- This television is amazing. The remote & menus take some getting used to but it has a bright, vibrant picture and the action scenes translate efficiently and clearly (watching the NCAA Tournament) with no blur. The LED light below the power button is annoying but this is most definitely the best value in DLP TV's with an LED light engine it should be nearly repair free over the lifetime of the product. I highly recommend this television.
- I did not get this TV from Amazon, but purchased through another retailer.
The TV was delivered yesterday and set-up. Out of the box the TV does not work. There is no RED. Only Blues and Greens. This is on all inputs and when you go into the setup screen to adjust colors you still can not get any reds in the picture. On top of that, even HDMI output from the DVD player looks very grainy. In the store the picture on this TV looked great, but quality control is horrible. There is no excuse for spending this much on a TV and having to get it repaired out of the box!!!!!!!
Unfortunately the place I bought it is forcing me to go through Samsung for the repair and will only replace it if Samsung can not fix. The first thing I will do if it is repaired, is sell it and go by something else. This is the first and LAST Samsung product I will ever buy. I went with DLP because, #1 I am affiliated with the chip maker and wanted to support my own products. #2 with the LED light sources I felt like I would get a TV that would last a long time.
Well I still want an LED DLP, just not Samsung.
- Samsung HLT5089S 50-inch Slim LED Engine 1080p DLP HDTV
Ordered this TV on Amazon site, Vanns fulfilled the order. The set arrived on time and in excellent condition. Despite being rear-projection it is very slim. Picture quality is excellent. I was a little concerned because I have read that DLP TV's are not great if viewed at an angle. While there is a slight decrease in the vibrancy of the color when not viewed directly, even at 45 degrees I think the picture is still very clear and bright. Excellent contract ration. With the LED engine, no noise, no rainbow. The set has so many inputs I can't use them all, 3 HDMI, two component, composite, etc.
- My brother loves this TV. Samsung makes great TVs BUT I have a problem with them on this one. Samsung shouldn't advertise this TV as having PIP (Picture-In-Picture) when it only has one tuner and therefore does NOT have PIP! Samsung's response, you CAN watch a TV channel AND a VCR or DVD player which we call PIP. Who wants that I ask? Your BAD Samsung!!
- We received the unit when promised. Everything works and is exactly what we were lookiing for. The picture is spactacular and we love the extra features. Thanks for a real deal with VANN's, the providor.

5 comments about Sharp Aquos LC37D43U 37-Inch 720p LCD HDTV.
- The HDTV works great in High Definition, Basic Cable, DVD and even as a monitor for my PC.
- i have a few friends that purchased sharp aquos and having been able to watch it and inspect it first hand helped in making the decision to get one myself. i'm the type that is very hesitant in making such big ticket purchases. i tend to research things to death and find it hard to commit since so much money is being spent on it. so after 2 months of researching, i finally made the decision to go with the sharp. i do not regret it for one minute. i love it! but in order to enjoy all that my new HD tv had to offer, i had to upgrade to an HD cable box (a must to have the full experience of HD television).
all in all, this was a great purchase. the quality is amazing, design is sleek and compact, and a wonderful product.
- Chose this TV after months on reading reviews, watching friend's TVs and in-store TVs. Very happy with the Sharp. Works great with upconverting and normal DVD. Also was very pleasantly suprised with the clarity of off-air TV with my 20 year old bunny ears - digital stations are so much better than anything I ever got with my old tube TV and very clear w/ RD and HD signals - and I live 20+ miles from the broadcasts. No prolems at all. Like many other reviewers, the sound is ok, but am happy I got surround sound system in addition to TV (combo DVD, radio/stereo, surround, mp3 input). Again very happy - and do not miss or regret 1080p at all!
- I bought this television five months ago, and could not be happier. My buddy bought a 41 inch 1080p LG at the same time, and i can not see one single bit of difference in picture quality between the two. Xbox 360 looks every bit as good in 1080i on my tv as PS3 does in 1080p on his, same with hd cable tv and blu ray. All in all, this is the largest size 720p set you can buy with no difference in picture, and i swear to you that there is absolutely NO difference. I love this tv, i dont quite understand the opc setting, as it dims and brightens the picture according to darkness, but is sort of annoying so i leave it off, and the only other problem is the cord falls out when you move the television, but how often do you do that. I now swear by sharp, and i had previously had a very strong loyalty to samsung. Another buddy is a sony guy, and he is planning on a sharp next time around, even though he had just purchased a 1080p sony. Out of the box, it is so bright it hurt my eyes, which is good...which is good. The color and blacks are amazing. Dont hesitate for a second to buy this set, you will not be sorry.
- I LOVE my new tv. I got it because it fit in my space good and I am amazed at how good it looks and sounds. I would highly recommend this tv. I think for a TV under 40" you don't really need the 1080 dpi. I did a lot of research and this is teh one I got it is sweet!

3 comments about Magnavox 20MF500T 20-Inch LCD TV.
- I just bought this item yesterday...I am about to return it today. Basically, the main purpose I had in mind for this TV was simply to watch SD content (older movies, TV, games, etc.) - what else!? that's basically all this thing is capable of according to the specs. So far so good. After much 'research' and thinking and consulting, I decided to go with this TV, but also because of what it seemed to be capable of when I saw it on display at Target.
Well, I probably should have known better, but I was about to get what was coming to me from this LCD - VERY poor SD quality! In short, if you're looking for a nice LCD TV to watch your good ole' standard movies and games on, this is NOT the TV for you! The 'confusing' part of this whole thing is, what in the WORLD is the point of this TV!?!?!? It's pretty much common knowledge that SD content looks considerably better on tube TVs and pretty crummy on LCDs and other of the newer technologies. So, that in mind, this TV, having only the capability to display SD content (given its resolution of 640x480), is basically worthless (unless you like a super-soft, undefined image) in all areas except for, perhaps, component-video-related material (more or less DVDs). I guess if that's all you're looking for, is to watch DVDs and you have component outputs on your player, this TV may not be so bad (the picture is quite sharp from what I saw), but you're not getting high definition from it and therefore, it is essentially geared toward (or should be geared toward) standard TV watching.
However, I don't necessarily 'blame' the TV itself. As far as it's capabilities, I suppose I wasn't completely dissatisfied with its performance - even though I got turned off immediately after seeing it display SD content like an old Atari game. The colors and image itself is not 'bad' in any real sense. However, a big criticism I have of this set is its LACK of features. VERY VERY plain set over all (including the remote). There's really only so much you can do with this TV - and that includes watching DVDs, VHS (and whatever else you can hook up with component or audio connections) tv-watching to some extent (cable, and OTA broadcasting - and oh, don't forget it does NOT have a digital ATSC tuner for digital television - another prohibiting factor) and using it as a computer monitor...but who would do ANY of that, considering you're essentially using the WRONG technology for the stuff you wanna watch? Ok, I did it. But I learned a valuable lesson about the new technologies that are out there, and I hope to save others the trouble of learning this lesson the hard way. What I've learned is the following (and this addresses a major issue concerning modern TVs): you wanna watch SD, stick with the (better quality) tubes; you want HD - go with the new. It's that simple.
Well, sorry for the lecture, but I had to give the whole story on this. To summarize, be careful WHAT you use this TV for! I am "not sure" and rather disappointed about this TV for actually mainly one reason...the PRICE!!! For this price, the TV should do A LOT more than what it is capable of! Bottom line. If it were about $150 less, I might consider it for its very minimal benefits.
- We needed an unobtrusive TV in the kitchen. We picked this on up at K-Mart for $249 on clearance. The picture is adequate, but that is all we needed in the kitchen.
- I bought this TV for about $350 for my shop. I had hoped to mount it to the wall so it could pan and swivel, no such luck. After trying two different wall mounts neither one would hold the TV up. There was too much force pulling the top of the TV toward the floor.
If you look at the picture you can see the base that holds the TV up, this can rotate back for wall mounting, doing this changes the center of gravity creating a lot of force on the base of the TV. I came out the next morning to find the base of the TV had broken because of this oversight in engineering. Maybe this TV was never meant to be wall-mounted.
I have had no luck with Magnavox in getting a replacement part, so I currently have a TV with no base to stand on.
I have not tried this TV with my PS3 yet, but the S-video signal from my satellite receiver is average at best.

5 comments about Westinghouse SK-26H240S 26" LCD HDTV Television with ATSC Tuner.
- There is an audio sync issue when using a set up box with component cables. When I switched to use the RF in from the cable, it did not show the audio sync issue, but that means no HBO or digital cable for the most part. The second issue is: after 4 days and watching the TV for hours I turn it on for 3 minutes and the TV just turns itself off. I hit the power button and see the blue LED on the front glow for 1 sec then off. I hold the power button on the side down, and the blue power led blinks once a second and I hear a click, but no picture. I wait 5 minutes, comeback and it works fine. I figured it was a one time thing. I watch TV for 15 more minutes, and it just resets, and the picture comes on after 15 seconds or so. Luckily I bought it from Costco, which has a great return policy, I just want my money back, I don't want another one after reading these reviews. If you can get a working model and the A/V sync doesn't bother you I did like the user interface, and it was real easy to use and configure. It is really cheap for the size, most 22 inch monitors are 400$ these days.
- I purchased SK-26H240S 26 inches LCD TV last week and it seems to be good TV at a bargain price. I have gone through the critical reviews posted by various people and found the the issue of lip synchronization is not true. Along with this TV I purchased a Polaroid double screen 7" DVD player (comes with connecting AV and other cables) and connected the same to watch the graet action movie- The Troy. What a great viewing it was! Every thing was perfect. So guys hook up a good DVD player and watch the performance of the Westinghouse LCDTV at a low price.
- I too noticed the lip sync issue, however the TV is fine if you use an HDMI cable only.
I use one from HD cable box and one from an upconverting DVD player. No lip sync problems whatsoever when I use HDMI only.
- I've picked up this item to replace a Insignia HDTV that had some issues. This one has been a dream. Very vibrant color display on everything. Works great with my Xbox 360, my PS3, my HD channels, and Blu Rays. Displays up to 1080i which looks beautiful through HDMI. Convenience of two HDMI ports, and more video ports on the back. I used the TV speakers from May to January(when I got my surround), and found no delays or issues. Even with surround no issues of a delay. I highly recommend this for the price.
- I bought this tv a few months ago and it seemed the picture and sound were not in sync. My husband thought I was making this up...obviously NOT! TV is still under warranty, so I'll call Westinghouse and see if they'll take care of the problem. My suggestion is to buy a different tv, it's very annoying watching this and not really all that cheap.

5 comments about LG 42LB5D - 42" LCD TV - widescreen - 1080p (FullHD) - HDTV - gloss black.
- After spending some time in research what to buy, Finally i decided to buy this LG. Initially, I was focusing to buy Toshiba Regza or Sharp Aquas. But looking picture quality and comparing with Sharp and toshiba, i got so impressed. Also price was very reasonable.
- This television is fantastic!! The picture is sharp, it has plenty of input ports, and the price is not too expensive. Then, I added HD to my satellite provider, and it took a great picture and make it phenomenal! I would highly recommend this item to anyone looking for a HDTV.
- I have had my LG for about a month now and couldn't be more satisfied. It even makes HD Cox Cable look good! Having three HDMI imputs is awesome. Picture quality is excellent. Remote is easy to use.
- I'd have my 42" tv for about 3 months now and was originally nervous when purchased because of issues others have faced. I've had none thus far. Picture quality is excellent. It is a very versatile set equipped with 3 hdmi ports, 2 component ports, and 2 av ports as well as a computer hook up for video and sound too.
I don't own a surround sound system/receiver and find this to be all I need with some alterations to the custom sound settings. Currently I have plugged into it: HD DVR (HDMI), dvd player (component), ps2 (Av), I also switch between plugging my ipod and my vcr into the second av port, plus I also hook up my laptop to watch programming over that too. (MLB.TV works nicely through it I must say). I'm rather impressed with the picture quality for all of these items even if almost all of them are not viewed in true 1080p, especially the PS2 which I have seen distorted on other sets. So what I mean by saying this is - don't worry if the rest of your tech is a bit outmoded, it will still work fine, there is no need to run out and buy everything else (though I highly recommend moving to blue-ray when their price comes down if you get used to watching movies in HD).
- I order the TV online and it came home to daddy in good condition. My wife set it up, because I was out of town. When I got home I was not impresses with the picture quality, then I realized she hook up the coax cables and not the HTMI connections. Well I hooked up the HTMI and WOW what a difference. I went from depressed to very pleased in a simple hook up. The speed of the TV is good, I see no lag in the picture at all, that is something that I hate along with the screen door effect there is none. Very good picture, but its still hard for me to find the best settings in color for the TV shows I watch. However Blue Ray movies are good no matter what.
The sound... WOW repeat 3x LG said this TV has surround sound, and they did not lie. There was times that I thought my 7.1 system was playing and it was the sound from my TV amazing. I found myself turning my head a points looking for the source of sounds to my right lol, then I realized it was the TV. I am very impressed. People have complained about the sound, yes it has weak speakers, but the sound quality is very good I have no complaints. It plays as loud as I want it to.
The menu screen is very simple to follow in everything. And the 1080P is awesome. My cable shows in 720P and 1080i, it good, but blue ray is where it is at.
If you get this TV you will love the picture and the sounds from it You may want to upgrade the size, but other than than you should have no complaints and it cant be beat for the price.

- I spend alot of time with tvs and get to look at alot of them im telling you you will be hard pressed to find a tv with a better HD picture.
roll.Buy it,BUT!I had at first given yhis TV a five star rating its only right to tell you what I've been trough the past week if you plan on purchasing this tv.First time a bought everything is great untill i give the screen a good cleanin i notice little sratches that look like dimples pn the screen about five or six of them and they would not come out no matter what i used.Although it does not hamper the picture quality in anyway way pay for an expensive tv that already has wear and tear.I liked this set so much though that I had to get it right. So i took it back to the store from where it came, got it home -same messed up sreen with dimple marks,so i took it back again, and again same results. This last time i got a refund went to a diffrent store thinking maybe it was just a batch that store got.so i bought it somewhere else, low and behold it had the same crap on the screen plus the geometrics where messed up.I returned this item for good got my money back paid a little more and bought the Sharp LCD Aquao and i couldn't be happier! buy at your own risk
- I just bought one ten days ago in order to get a TV that does High Definition TV. This is an outstanding TV in every respect. Not only do the designated HD programs look 3 dimentional as real life but so do most other programs. Every blemish, wrinkle and stray hair are visible, even on non-high def programs such as news, etc. The sound is as good as my famous name wave radio and need no assistance from other equipment on music programs. I think this is the best TV I have ever seen. I would give it ten stars if the ratings went that high.
- We decided on HDTV. Problem: I was replacing a 27" Sony Trinitron. I wanted at least as much screen on "standard TV" as I already had but my cabinet limited me to a maximum width of 32". Further, it's the only place in my den a TV fits. We checked around. The CRT-type HDTVs appeared more like a movie screen to my eyes. Not glaringly bright and not overly contrasty. The 30HF85 met our needs best. Going from store to store the picture on these sets varied from horrible to impressive depending on how good the store's video distribution system was. Salesmen pointed this out to us.
No problems with "lines" on the screen or "pock marks" on the surface of the screen as other reviewers here complained. Kept on the 1080i HD setting we never see the "gray matting" another person complained of. Toshiba made some improvements? There are many settings. The image can be adjusted quite a bit.
Our set connects to a digital cable box via a "Monster HDMI cable." Take our advice and DO NOT skimp on the cable or you will regret it. One can find it at a 40% discount from internet auction sites.
Let us caution against buying the Toshiba this way, though. Some internet marketers retail new HDTVs which are "B grade units." Sold cheaply because their HDTVs are "not quite perfect." And we would not care to wrangle this monster back inside the carton and re-ship it across the country were we to get a lemon. Too much trouble, too much time w/o a tv.
My son is in college and he sells HDTVs part time at an electronics store. They do not carry Toshiba HDTVs at 'short-circuit city.' He comes home from work and becomes mesmerizied by the PERFECT image on this set. (-He did protest when he learned we were buying a Toshiba...!)
The sound from the built in speakers is unimpressive. But we use our home theatre sound system so it is not an issue.
MANY retailers carry this unit. For instance, Sears does price matching + a 10% bonus. AND they have the most reasonable service contracts around... Retailers "rack up" on cables and service
contracts...
45 days later we remain pleased with this television. Our search is over until technology shifts again.
- This TV is a great value and a great HD solution. One minor gripe is that it doesn't have a TV/Video button on the TV itself, and since I use another remote for everything, I have to hunt down the TV remote to change to a different video input.
As far as the gray paneling goes around the screen, I had that problem for about the first day until I set my HDTV settop appropriately. We use the Scientific Atlanta 8300 HD/DVR box through Time Warner. They don't tell you this, but if you just hook the TV up to it without running a setup wizard (activated by holding two buttons on the box itself while the power's off) it won't maximize the TV's ability to process different signals and make the images fit the screen appropriately. What ends up happening is the TV converts everything to 1080i and images coming in at 480i (which are most non-HD signals, therefore most of what you'll be watching) end up in the gray-paneled box. After running the wizard, the HD box and the TV work together to produce the highest-quality image on the screen without the panelling. So make sure you run the set up wizard through whatever HD tuner you use. (By the way, the Time Warner box also has an option to make the panels on the sides dark instead of gray).
I can't say much about the sound on this TV since I'm running it through a receiver. I can say the HD picture is stunning and the TV is the perfect size for our viewing distance (about 8 feet). Normal TV looks great, too, although images broadcasted in 4:3 are inevitably a bit stretched when they appear on the 16:9 screen. This takes a little getting used to but it's going to be unavoidable on any theater-wide screen that receives non-HD signals. The alternative is the paneling on either side of the screen, which I loathe. But like I said earlier, if you set up the settop appropriately, the distortion will be at a minimum and the screen will be full.
Bottom line: Good TV, snag it, but set it up right to enjoy it!!
- Great picture. This TV has plenty of inputs and very easy to use. Sound is very good which is good since I don't always use my surround sound speakers. I would recommend this to anyone.
