5 comments about Samsung LNT4669 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV.
- This TV is fabulous...I read all the other reviews before purchasing because we were definitely concerned with glare- as the TV is in our family room with a wall of windows. We've had absolutely no problem with glare at all- literally NO glare. The picture is great, very clear...especially with HD channels. We had been looking for a flat screen for years, and after all the research and looking- we're definitely more than satisfied with our purchase.
- I searched well over a month before deciding on this particular TV. One of the major factors was that it had to fit into a space no wider than 46 inches in my entertainment center. Most 46" TVs I looked at were too wide or too shy of the space I wanted to fill. Being about 45.5", this one fits perfect. It has a great picture as well. Of course, you do have to subscribe to an HD provider before realizing what a great picture it has. Of note, I found this model in some stores at a much higher price. This one was delivered and set up free of charge through Amazon. My husband and I couldn't be more pleased with the decision to purchase this TV.
- After several weeks of research and many years of waiting to finally buy an LCD TV, I finally decided on the 4669F. I bought it through Amazon, and couldn't have been happier with the transaction. The delivery company was great to deal with and everything went smoothly. I was truly amazed when we first turned the TV on; it was definitely beyond my expectations. The picture was incredible and the matte finish on this model really does make a difference. We hooked it up to our DISH and surround system via HDMI cables and had no problems at all. Everything looked and worked as expected for about 3 months.
Then one evening we spotted a red dot in the center of the screen. I immediately opened up a trouble ticket with Samsung and within 2 days I got a call from a service rep to set up an in-home appointment. The tech came out looked at the unit for all of 30 seconds and told me he was ordering a new panel. They never explained what was wrong and I didn't ask since I was just happy that it was covered under warranty. I the panel was just replaced a few days ago, and since then it has started to make popping and crackling noises. This occurs mostly when it is powering up or powering down but also sometimes while we are watching TV which is quite annoying.
Although Samsung service has said they will come out again to look at it, I have to say I am a bit disappointed. This was a big purchase for me and I was not expecting to have problems this soon. I know that issues can occur with anything, no matter how much you paid for it, but it still stinks. Although the transaction with Amazon was fantastic, I can't help thinking that if I had paid the extra money for tax and purchased it at a local retail store, I could have exchanged it and not had to deal with multiple repairs. Hopefully all of this will be resolved soon so I can get back to enjoying my beautiful TV.
- I am speechless when it comes to the picture on the TV, especially whenever I play my Blu-rays on it. The picture cant be anymore clearer. The sound is just fine. I have had no problems what so ever with anything so far. Great product. Keep it up Samsung.
- I have owned this tv for about 1-1/2 months and am very pleased with the entire purchase experience. In fact, another family member recently ordered the 40 inch version based from her viewing and my past experience with Amazon and the "white glove" delivery service. That alone should also be a consideration.
When I received the tv, it was brought into the house, unpacked, inspected for damage and set onto the old tv stand. Although I do not subscribe to a cable service and rely on the "old fashioned" antennae, the picture was absolutely amazing when we powered the tv on. The delivery driver couldn't believe I would get a signal, let alone several digital channels over the air, not previously known they even existed. I don't have any idea what's being programmed, because they're not listed anywhere. Oh well, I won't complain receiving 9 additional stations free!
My choice narrowed down to the Sony XBR and the Samsung based on what I've learned and seen visiting the big box stores. I was always annoyed by the reflections of lamps during night viewing and the windows during the day. The matte finish on both tv's was the way to go for me and proved to be the answer; no reflections what so ever.
I'm not a techie freek so I really did pay so much attention to the nitty gritty, but knew that the 120 hz motion control was desireable, as well as the ability to view pictures from my camera and connect a computer to the set for possible future applications. (that was kind of neat)
I've read numerous comments regarding this model and felt that the overwhelming number of 5 star ratings must mean something. After comparing the Samsung against the Sony (size, features, picture quality, etc.), it comes down to cost. To me it was a no brainer. I saved approximately $1000. You do the math.
So far I haven't had any issues and am still learning what feature does what. My only hope is that if I do have a problem, Samsung will provide the needed service. Previous comments note that Samsung's customer service is not as good as they should be. Again, I hope I don't have to find out. All in all, this tv has great picture, and that's what I wanted.
I suggest you stop comparing and pondering, just place the order. You'll be happy when it finally arrives and your watching what you like to watch. Others will be asking you the same questions you had. Enjoy!

4 comments about Philips 42PF7321D 42-Inch Plasma HDTV.
- I love this TV - using regular cable analog box the display is beutiful and I have not even used the HDMI or component hook up yet. My childs gamecube display using standard composite hookup is so clear - I cannot believe that it will get better using high def inputs !!!
WHAT A GREAT DEAL on a plasma TV
- I found the TV around which to build our new den.
Stores never seem to set up HDTVs properly and do not do them justice. They usually have standard signals that are split to many TVs. The pictures are not true HDTV or the video is highly compressed causing a lot of pixelation (cartoonish squares).
The Phillips looks absolutely fantastic when the component cables are used with Progressive Scan DVDs and HDTV broadcast signals.
Many people do not realize that your regular attic antenna can pick up HDTV signals from the networks that are high quality pictures at the new 16:9 format. The Phillips built in receiver is a must. Many HDTVs do not have an "Over the Air" receiver. This one does! The Super Bowl was crystal clear as was the Piston/Cavaliers game.
There is nothing worse than a stretched or squashed picture. The Phillips also makes it easy to change the 16:9 format to 4:3 quickly for the standard format and composite signals from the satellite/cable box.
Make sure that you understand the difference between the types of signals used. In order to view HDTV, you have to use component, HDMI or HD broadcast programming. Even if the program says it is HD, if it is not received through any of the three available with the Phillips, then you're watching plain old TV. Kind of like using a Porsche to deliver mail.
Summary: The Phillips 42PF7321 meets my standards and expectations.
- Now that I have it plugged in and on the table where I can enjoy my tv it's great. The color is real nice but for other people who buy this item or any 42" tv MAKE SURE you have someone to help you take it out of the box and help you set it up. When I got my tv the guy who brought it to me only put it in my house but REFUSED to help me take it out of the box. It is a big heavy tv. I called my cable company and had someone to hook all the cables to it and help me set it on the table. I had even put the stand on it myself. It's a great tv and I love it however the picture goes off then comes back on at times. it could be my cable box.
- We bought this HDTV only to have it break after just a year and a half! It had some minor problems with the video output during that year and a half, but yesterday we were watching it and it suddenly started smoking and the screen went black. It only has a one year warranty. We tried calling Phillips tech support. They couldn't tell us what happened, how to fix it, what the 4 blinking red lights meant or any sort of helpful information!
After looking around online we have found MANY people that have had the same problem with this TV. This will be the LAST Phillips product we ever buy!
Do NOT waste your money on this TV!

- I must say this Television is exactly what I have been looking for. I bought an LCD Flat panel and was very dissapointed with scenes of blotchy greys, glitchy sports with a foggy image at times? Then took it back on my 7 day return policy. I exchanged it for a Plasma! The Colour was perfect but once again discouraged I took it back. $250.00 plus dollars after 4000-6000 hours for a backlight I dont think so, if you can not afford to fix a tv dont buy the Tv(Student). Might I add I only have digital sattelite Reception. I did some more research On this partcular Item and was very pleased. Eventually most channels will be in widescreen. I'm not going to get all technical just strait too the point.
I Wanted this T.V for SPORTS , VIDEO GAMES , AND DVDS. Dont scrape your pocket for a television that is nearly the same in picture. The only problem is the weight, 150 pounds of back breaking labour compared too a slim lcd/plasma 45 pounds. Do not hesitate on choosing the Television purchase it is well worth the money. Once I get quality component cables or S-Cables Im sure it will highten my experience with the tv. I payed 4.95 on consumerreports.org just too get the plain and honest truth. I read up on all of the pros and cons on numerous Flat screen TV's Weather Plasma , lcd , or Hi-scan Tube HD TV's not only on consumerreports but many other websites as well. I think I knew more than the salesman!!!!. I tryed too lay this paragraph flat out on the table and I hope it helps you make a positive decision.
- ok, as another person stated, i've also tried expensive lcd and plasma monitors. same issues...blacks aren't quite black enough...ghosting on fast moving images. i finally took a friend's advice and looked at the 30" wega monitor (didn't need the 34"). wow, words can't describe the incredible picture...blows away the best lcd and plasma monitors. the drawback as others have pointed out is the weight...and i'm sure the electrical costs.
i didn't think to ask a tv repair person for their opinion given today's disposable-by-design market, but i got the advice another person got...the sony wega hd crt screen is probably THE best high definition monitor on the market. sure, lcd/plasma give you the cool factor, but the bottom line is no lcd/plasma monitor can beat the picture quality or cost of a sony wega hd crt monitor.
buy it...marketing hype aside, thes is the intelligent choice.

- First of all I want to say that Im a filmmaker and know about TV and film quite a lot so I know what Im talking about. Anyone that knows about TV's knows that CRT/picture-tube TV's (the fat ones) will produce superior image quality than any comprable LCD monitor. Just because a TV is thin and flat does not mean that it will produce a better image quality. Thin TV's are all the rage right now but what trully should matter is the picture quality. My Sony 30" widescreen HDTV's image quality is awsome. I've had it for about a year now and have been very, very, happy with it. Yes, it is super bulky and heavy but it fits in the corner of my bedroom quite well and its picture tube is super flat. Plus, the design of the TV makes it look a lot thinner than it really is. I've had to point out to guests that my TV is not a thin TV. The other cool thing about CRT HDTV monitors are that they cost about 40% less than flat LCD or plasma TV's. And like I said before, LCD will not give the same picture quality as CRT's. Plasma TV's do compare to CRT's but they cost a lot more and unlike CRT's you don't have recharge the chemicals like you do in plasmas after about 3000 hours of viewing time. Plus, I got my TV as a brand new clearance item at Fry's for $600! Trust me, I did a lot of research and this model had it all. About the only thing I wish it had was a third HDMI input and the capacity to broadcast at 1080p.
- I bought this TV solely for HD gaming for my 360. It is a very solid performer. The colors are vivid and bright. The blacks are the best one can find in an HDTV....It does have some minor faults though... Very mild bowing exists and text gets a little fuzzy on the periphery of the screen.
This TV really shines with HD cut scenes in video games....STUNNING!!!
- I thought I was going to spring for a Pioneer Kuro 50", after extensive research and comparison, it's pretty much the top of the top when it comes to quality, and I got a great deal for my buddy, who loves it. But in comparison, I only watch my 18 year old 27" TV a couple of hours a day, and I don't entertain with it on, so dropping $3K on a new set made no sense. I remember seeing the prototype of the Sony widescreen HD CRT sets in Tokyo in 1989, about $15K at the time, and I promised myself I would own one, once the price dropped. And voila! Almost 20 years later, my dream has come true. So can yours, if you can live with the difference in size, picture quality, and energy consumption. Yes, it's quite a bit deeper, but if you are replacing an old CRT, like mine (which died yesterday), you probably won't mind. As you already know, besides the Kuro, no LCD nor plasma is going to give you the detail and contrast (blacks) that a CRT will. And the thing nobody ever talks about is that CRTs will consume much less power than either LCD or plasma. The late model Wegas all come HDMI ready, which is required for all the upgrades coming with digital television broadcast next year, and though this 30" Sony will not achieve 1080p, it doesn't have to, because that resolution is wasted on any screen smaller than 50", a fact nobody here seems to acknowledge. I would go so far as to say, if you are not a film maker, you are wasting your time worrying about anything higher than 720p, which this set achieves. Still want to spend $900 at Costco or Best Buy for a comparable plasma? I bought my tv from a gamer who fell hard for his $4K Kuro, and sold his 1 year old Sony to me for...$180! I could have gotten the top of the line 36"XBR widescreen with matching stand for $450 used, but the point is, if you are looking for a bargain basement HDTV deal, for less than the price of a new Blueray DVD player, now is the time. Once you hook up that new HD DVD player, you'll forget all about that wall mount.

5 comments about Toshiba REGZA 32LV67U 32-Inch LCD HDTV with DVD Player.
- Well, the product is good unless the cheapo internal dvd player breaks.... and then it is worthless. Meanwhile in repairland, the dvd part is on back order but Toshiba could care less because they already have my money.
- TV was nice for a year and a half. The video board burned out which in turn blew out the lcd screen. Was only used about 4 hrs a week. Repair shop said it would cost as much as a new TV to fix. The tech also said it's poor design by Toshiba making the video board and screen as one part. Be careful, it's cheaper than the higher quality for a reason. My Sony has been around for 7 years, no problems.
I had extended warranty and they refunded me the entire cost of the TV instead of bothering with fixing it. That was surprising, so it must be a known common problem with Toshiba.
- I have had this TV for six months now and I have not had any problems. Setting the TV up to work with my HD cable box was a breeze. It would be hard to beat the video quality and sound at this price.
- I'm fully satisfied with the TV (picture quality, menu features, etc), but the built in DVD player has broken twice within the year. Luckily the 1-yr manufacturer's warranty is pretty good and they come to your home to fix it - but it's a major hassle. The repair guy said that this happens relatively often to the Toshiba TVs and they plan to stop producing the sets with built-in players. You're better off buying a TV-only set and get a nice swanky high-def DVD player to plug in!
- I had purchased this set back in February 2008 and wanted to review after having it for awhile.
This set with DVD player was purchased for our bedroom. The picture quality is gorgeous and vibrant. We have just moved and until we get our 42 inch Panasonic on the wall we have been using this one in the living room. It more than suffices! It looks amazing, that I could see someone using this one as a main tv if the room isn't too large.
Unlike other LCDs, this one does not turn dark or grayed out when viewed from different angles. The picture quality is amazing. The colors are vibrant and bright and I feel as if it is able to get a "true black".
As far as the DVD player... the reality is we have used it about 2 times; so I cannot review on the dependability. I have read and experienced that Toshiba DVD players love to conk out.
The frame is very sleek and sexy, just don't touch it with your oily fingers! I wish I had purchased two when they were on sale because I can no longer find the combos anywhere.
Again, if you can find it for a good price, jump on it. You will not regret it. Also wanted to mention that this set picks up an unbelievable amount of HD channels (about 90) without a cable/satellite box. We have service, but we always love to test the capability of the television.

- We've been using this product for over two weeks now and it works great! The brightness is amazing. We use it at a church with lots of windows and the sun hits those windows therefore having lots of light come in and hit the wall where we project our videos and keynote presentations and the projector does not even flinch. It automatically detects my apple powerbook laptop, it's very sharp and the contrast is very well too. it's not noisy at all and it stays relatively cool. Over all we're very happy with this product and highly recommend it to everyone!

5 comments about Syntax Olevia LT27HVX 27-Inch Flat Panel LCD HD-Ready TV.
- Worked fine as our desktop monitor then at 18 months colors went haywire. Olevia customer support suspects it's a bad main board which costs almost as much as a new monitor. Will pay a little more for reliability next time. Cannot recommend.
- I bought this tv around the first of October and used it for two weeks, then suddenly the screen was filled with colored lines and I couldn't get a picture. I contacted Olevia, or Syntax Brillian and they said they would replace it right away, But it took two weeks just to get the return lable and that was by email. After I shipped it back they promised to send the new replacement no later than November 12th, but no TV. I have called 2 dozen times since but they usually just hang up after making you listen to the same Kenny G song for a half hour or more. I finally got through to someone this past Monday Nov. 26th and they promised to have it shipped no later than Wednesday the 28th along with a email confirming shipment, two days later and hours more of Kenny G and I'm still waiting. If you have $500 to throw away, dump it in the stock market, that way at least you'll have a nice certifcate, if you buy Olevia you end up with nothing. Gerald S. Wight
- it was a great price at the time and it works perfectly in the master bedroom...where it gets about 45 mintues of use a day in the morning...and occassionally when I am in bed sick or playing insomnia boy. I have not had too many issues, but there are two major problems...the hum from the speakers is unreal, especially when the volume is turned down. The second issue is that the remote stopped working. It just stopped. I have changed the batteries twice and still nothing. The bad part is, I cannot find ANY universal remotes that will work with it. If anyone knows one that will...post it please! For the price of LCD TV's today, look to one of the major brands...it is not worth the hassle unless you need a cheap TV.
- I purchased this in the belief that it would work and look as good as new. Well yes it does seem to work well. But the drawback is looks and it has tha appearance of being old and tired. I believe enough said as the company who sold it tried to get extra money for a better conditioned one.
- I haven't a clue about this Olevia product. I waited and waited and waited and waited for the whole, total, entire month of October and it never came. Do not, absolutely not ever, buy from this vendor! I have a previously purchased [not from this vendor] Olevia which proved to be so satisfactory that I wanted another. I really did want this Olevia and haven't the words to truly express my complete, thorough and utter disappointment. I contacted Amazon for help and am still waiting.
