  1. This TV has a incredible picture, my only complaint is that the sound is not that loud. I put it in my bedroom and while the AC is running it is very hard to hear, and the AC isn't real loud, it's brand new. I got around this problem as I have Satellite TV and I just ran the sound from the box to my stereo, the only fall back to this solution is that you have to keep swithching the connections between the Satellite box, the VCR and the DVD, depending which one is being watched at the time. So if you are planning to put this anywhere there may be additional noise I wouldn't recommend it unless you have another source to boost the sound.

  2. A good little TV for a small bedroom, but the sound is uneven and tinny.

  3. Recently purchased, Quality picture, cable ready, easy to operate, perfect size for addition viewing needs. spare when larger one fails.

  4. The Toshiba 13A26 is a star in the ever-shrinking availability of small TV sets. It is a perfect choice for anyone who seeks economy in price and size. The picture is sharp and clear, and color is excellent.

  5. The tv works great. Delivery was very slow and the box was dented causing the postman to comment that he hoped it wasn't actually a tv inside. Perhaps the US mail isn't the best method of shipping.

  1. If you want an LCD TV at a budget price with a super picture then buy this JVC. Easy set up, lightweight, comes with a stand. My friend has a high dollar Sharp and I really can't see the difference that justifies the extra $$$$'s.

  2. This is a wonderful tv that I've had for nearly a year. The built-in speakers are great quality and LOUD! Volume goes up to 40, but I keep it around 12. You can also set it for lower max volume if you don't want your kids turning it up too loud. It has smart sound so it doesn't get excessively loud when shows go to commercials. The picture is great and bright.. very bright. Performs well while watching high speed scenes on dvd or tv. You can set it to come on and turn off certain times at certain volumes once or daily. Definitely a good choice when looking for a new tv. JVC is a good brand and when looking for a well priced hdtv that will last make sure you know the brand. I kiss my wife for this gift every time we sit down and watch it.

  1. When I set out to buy a new TV I spent months researching to make sure I was getting the best one I could find. When I finally found this one I thought it was too good to be true, and you know what, it wasn't. I've had it for months now and there isn't one thing to complain about.

First of all, it has the best picture I have seen on an LCD. There is no difference between the picture on this one and the picture on a TV 3 times as expensive. Blackest black I have seen, incredible viewing angle, tons of picture options - really, this thing is beautiful. It has 2 HDMI ports and it does 1080p through component, which is something that's hard to find in a TV this size. Built in tuner, only weighs 60 lbs. If I had the money I'd buy a second one.

The only negative I can say is no Picture in Picture, but it's such a small it's not even worth complaining about.

You might also want to consider its 37" and 42" brothers, as they are equally amazing, just bigger.

  2. I have had this TV for over a year now. Never had a problem. The picture is great and HD over antenna is amazing.
    The Bad:
    - not very customizable. the menu options are very limited for such a fine TV.
    - You will not be able to connect a PC to it. you have to buy a converter, which costs about $200.
    - the speakers are below average. you may need to buy a set of external speakers.

If these minor things dont matter to you, dont look any further. best picture out there.

  3. The picture of the Aquos from Sharp makes for a well defined picture with a nice viewing angle. The control settings on the TV allow for a wide range of options. Picture adjustment is first class, with audio configuration having a moderate number of options available. The different viewing modes allow for wide screen content to be viewed without side empty black space on the screen. The PC connectivity with DVI to HDMI is excellent and is easily configured. Built in speakers have a little trouble with bass sound that will cause a slight rattling but provide very nice HD sound. Gaming isn't a problem on this TV with the PS3 or XBOX 360. Finally the built in surround sound provides for an incredible viewing experience with movies with any home speaker system.

  4. I will preface by saying that I'm not the pickiest person when it comes to TV. That said, this one blew me away. I decided to get a new TV only because my 15-year-old Sony Triniton bit the dust in my last move. I was pretty fond of that old clunker, but now I'm over my grief. The picture quality of the Aquos is amazing, no dead pixels, and the order was processed very quickly.

  5. I definitely recommend this TV to anyone looking to upgrade to 1080p in a small affordable package. I mainly use this to play xbox 360 games which look unbeleivably better in 1080p than 480fuzz. All this throught a component cable too; someone told me at circuit city that you couldn't get 1080p through component, but Microsoft's website said you could, and I am viewing xbox games in 1080p...so...it always pays to get a 2nd opinion. 5 inputs, with two hdmi, gives you a bunch of options, and for 800 bucks, this tv is a very good bargain. I will be in the market for a 52 aquos for the living room very soon. A Sony or Samsung will give you a nice picture too, but Sharp was cheaper, and as much as i love the 1080p pic versus the SD, i couldn't tell that any brand was superior to the other. So price and inputs were the big one for me. This tv is small; you'll want to be no more than 8 feet away, but it is perfect for a gaming tv or a bedroom tv. 1080i comcast cable is extremely bright and vivid over the 480i standard cable. What are you waiting for?? :)

  1. This product was the second Vizio brand HDTV I bought for my house, and the quality is great throughout. I got this at Walmart for 597 about two months ago and have not had a single problem.

The TV has two HDMI outputs, and supports up to 1080i. For under 600 dollars this HDTV has the size, resolution, and quality of a great purchase.

  2. This is my first HDTV. I initially heard about the brand through a commercial featuring LaDanian Thomlinson. I'm a football fan, so I payed attention. I am so glad I did. I knew going into the shopping process that I was interested in a Vizio, but I wanted to make sure it was the right brand. After looking around for a week or two, I finally came to the conclusion that my initial interest was right on.

If you are looking for a solid HDTV, Vizio is the brand. The picture quality is amazing, the sound is great, and the price is unbeatable. Don't even consider a different brand, there's a reason this is the fastest growing company in America. When you think HD, think Vizio.

  3. I first purchased this product about a year ago. Luckily, the warranty was still in effect when it failed. They sent a new board out and the repair man did the installation. This one failed within days. The HDMI and the composite connections would not work. They sent another one out and it was dead out of the box. They then asked me to send mine back. They sent a box for me to return it but the shipping was on me. I wanted them to send a new set and I would send mine back in the box but even with offering to give my credit card for security they would not agree. The latest one I got has now failed after about two months. The only area that will work is the S-Video on the side of the set. So, now I have this nice looking tv with wires hanging out of the side and not broadcasting in HD.

  4. I actually bought a different model from Vizio, which was of good quality...

However when you try to get customer support online, make yourself a cup of coffee, and take some valiums, because you will need to be very relaxed in the long wait and pretty amazing answers:

Let me just describe some of them

    1. Our TV broke down and they agreed to fix it, the fix did not work (took about 7-10 days for a tech to show up). Then took as a month to set up the appointment to replace the TV, the story was that their database changed.... who cares??? I bought a product for 1,300$ just give me a timely answer
    2. We decided to move and had to by a replacement box for the shipment, at that point they sell it to you for 160$ (shipping + cost of the box)... WOW, not cheap. But we had to do it anyways, 10 days later, no answer on where it is, no tracking info (hey 21st century has arrived), and promised answers within 48 hours (business hours.... what the hell does that means?). Tried to cancel the order, they would not let me do that either...

Make a long story short, pay the extra 200$ and go for another product with a reasonable back. This was my first and last product from Vizio.

I gave it two stars because during the time it works, it's actuall pretty reasonable.

  5. No... but seriously.... It's a great deal with a comparable picture to all the other main players in the HDTV market. I purchased mine from Sears about two years ago, and it's worked perfectly... Games look sharp, movies come to life and paying for a high def package is worth it. Hey it's simple math... WHY pay up to 1200.00 when you can pay 600 and get pretty much the same thing... Unless your're one of those people that has to have every thing sinked up. Bravia tv, ps3, sony reciever etc..... Hey, with the money saved, you can purchase one of those all in one remotes!

  1. I compared this to the Olevia 232V and the Sylvania sharpness and colors were better in the side by side test. Setup was breeze and no need to read the user manual. Remote was intuitive and laided out nicely. This choice was a no-brainer

  2. This TV is great for my Xbox 360 and makes things awhole lot clearer. I now have two of them and have been happy since we got the first one.

5 comments about LG 47LC7DF 47-inch 1080p LCD HDTV.
  1. I've had this TV for a couple weeks now, so although I cannot comment on the reliability of this TV, I can comment on its performance.

When I was shopping for an HDTV, this was the least expensive HDTV that I could find in the 45"-49" size that would accept 1080p over VGA and component inputs (not common) in addition to HDMI. This included plasma TVs.

Overall, the TV is very good in the $1500 price range. It has very good off-angle viewing for an LCD (something LCDs aren't good at). The black levels are average for an LCD, which most people won't have a problem with. With sports, I find that the TV does a very good job with fast motion. The only time I notice blurring or pixelation is when a logo/graphic moves across the screen (Fox does this periodically during football games when doing instant replays).

I have not watched any HD-DVD or Blu-Ray movies yet, so I can't comment on how 1080p looks, but the picture quality with TV programming (720p or 1080i) is excellent. When watching standard def TV (480i), I find that the TV does a good job with scaling.

For all you "green" people, you will like the fact that this TV is Energy Star compliant.

    Other comments:

Remote/controls - The remote allows you to choose which input to display. This may not sound like much, but some TVs force you to go through each input in order if you want to change it. With this TV, you simply press the Input button, then use the arrow buttons to highlight which input to select. There is also a set of buttons (on/off, volume, channel, etc.) on the right-hand side of the TV. They aren't very noticeable, so they won't detract from the design of the TV, but are handy if you need them.

Speakers - I find that the built-in speakers are average. If you need to turn up the volume (above 60), I find that the speakers don't get enough power, so you get some vibrating noise. This isn't a big deal if you plan on using a receiver and external speakers.

Stand - The stand that comes mounted on the TV is very basic. It doesn't allow you to swivel, so turning the TV involves turning the stand as well.

Color settings - The TV comes with four preset video settings, plus two custom ones that you can set. The default setting (Dynamic) is set too high and makes all programs look horrible (washed out and jaggy). I recommend using the following settings (which I found on AVSForum):

    Contrast 85
    Brightness 40
    Color 60
    Tint 0
    Sharpness 37
    Backlight 17
Black level high (only available if using HDMI)

    cinime 3.2 mode - off
    aspect 16.9
    xd - manual
    xd contrast - off
    xd color - off
    xd noise - on
color temp - user (all are set on 0)

With these settings, the picture looks significantly better across all types of programming. I would recommend people use these settings as a starting point, then make their own adjustments. The default setting is too far off to watch any TV or movies (regardless of the source resolution).

Another nice feature is each input has its own distinct video setting. That means that the video settings for the Component 1 input can be set differently from the HDMI 1 input. This is nice because you may find that you like different settings depending on your video source. For example, I like using the Dynamic for my Xbox 360, but for cable, I use the above settings.

Documentation - The TV comes with a printed booklet, which is more like a "quick start guide". It also comes with a CD which contains the PDF versions of the owner's manual. Despite it being 113 pages long, it doesn't do a very good job describing the different settings that you can change. It simply lists the different options.

Packaging - LG does an excellent job packaging this TV. It's in a normal rectangular cardboard box (like most HDTVs). The difference, however, is that you can take the sides and top off when unpacking the TV... kind of like taking the cover off a dessert tray. This makes removing the TV from the box a one-person job. Although relatively light (about 83 lbs with the stand; 70 lbs without), I still recommend having another person when lifting the TV.

Connections - 1080p is supported over VGA, HDMI and component. The main connections are located on the back of the TV, which you then can route the cables downward. There are also a set of inputs on the left-hand side of the TV (USB - for photos or MP3s, S-video, composite).

Firmware - Many TVs offer the ability to upgrade the firmware simply by downloading the update from the manufacturer's website onto a USB memory stick. Unfortunately, I have no idea if this TV offers the same functionality. The manual doesn't state anything, and I wasn't able to find any information on LG's website. My guess is that it doesn't support this, but I have not verified this with LG.

Tuner - This TV has a built-in ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuner, so if you want to, you can simply connect an external antenna (e.g. "rabbit ears") to get over-the-air (OTA) digital signals (including HD). I tested this functionality, and it comes in very well. The downside with OTA signals is that if the signal isn't strong enough, you will notice pixelation or freezing. This is normal with digital programming, because with digital... you're either receiving the signal or not.

Here's a link to LG's website for more info on the TV. You can find the specs for this TV and the owner's manual here.

    [...]

  2. Overall, this TV is great; offering 3 HDMI ports, a RGB VHS port, 2 component video ports, etc., it's clearly not lacking.

I'll only delve into what I *don't* like about this TV.

    1) Aside from a component and S-VHS port on the side of the TV, everything's on the back. If you are using the TV on a table, this wouldn't be a problem. But if you want to wall-mount, if say your buddy brings over his XBOX360, unless it is one that supports HDMI (and you have an HDMI cable into say your DVD player), you'd have to unmount the TV, hook up an HDMI cable, re-mount the TV. Is it the end of the world? No, but it is a definite pain. Especially considering there are other TV's which have the hook-ups on the side (likely for this very reason).

    2) In certain cases (very dark scenes), the TV has almost a 'milky' looking background. It's hard to describe, and I likely wouldn't have even noticed it, until I saw a review on another forum complaining about this. Is it an actual defect? I don't know -- I haven't contacted LG (yet), as it rarely exhibits itself, but when it does, it is annoying.

    3) As noted above, it has 3 HDMI ports. UNFORTUNATELY, if you want to use a Harmony remote, you can only program it to 'directly' connect to HDMI1 or HDMI2, NOT HDMI3. I've attempted to work-around this, but have had only limited success. (I could alternatively program the remote to navigate input selection differently, but that would result in increased time to switch to a port.)

Those are really the only two *bad* things I have to say about this TV. Otherwise, it's great. Note that I'm not an expert by any means, and clearly the source used to feed it can also have a direct impact (I use a PS3 for Blu-Ray, HD-A2 for HD-DVD, a NAD T-534 for SD-DVD, and Comcast HD Digital Cable).

  3. A word of caution to those considering to buy this television (which I do recommend, it is a great TV at a great price), the wall mount suggested by amazon.com (Peerless ST650P Tilting Wall Mount for 32" to 50" Flat Panel Displays) IS NOT COMPATIBLE with this particular TV.

  4. If you are considering this TV, it means you are probably looking for the best bang for the buck. I shopped months before making my decision and, although my original choice was not available, this LG has been GREAT. These are the high points:

    Great Price
Great system options with all of the possible connections
It has a backlight control (for the wierdos who need "pure blacks")
1080p looks great on it (I use Comcast Cable and Sony PS3 Blue Ray)
    Speakers work good
It offers a better viewing angle than most other LCD sets I shopped
So far (6 months), I have had no problems

I can tell you that once you get 1080p, you will only look for accesories with HDMI connections. I currently use all 3 and 1 one of my component connections. I have a Wii connected by components, and my cable box, PS3, and home theater are connected with the 3 HDMIs. I chose to use the stand instead of wall mounting because a stand makes it much easier to get to the wires in the back, but I don't think it would make a difference unless you have more than 3 HDMI devices.

I chose LCD over Plasma because I was worried about burn in from all of the sports and video games I enjoy. By the way, ESPNHD and PS3 looks awesome on this TV. I will say that non-HD programs don't look so good on the set, but who wants to watch non-HD stuff on a 1080p set anyway? I would definitely buy this set again knowing what I now know about it.

  5. While 1080p for this price is a decent value, there are significant drawbacks in picture quality. The black levels are not as good as more expensive brands or plasmas, which impacts movies and cable the most. The backlight is REALLY strong and gets really flashy/painful when bright scenes are suddenly displayed, like commercials. DVDs and Blurays look good but not great due to the black levels; I found the XD engine helpful for movies but it also distorts the overall picture in my opinion. Games look great on this tv; the notorious motion blur on LCDs is still present but not very noticeable/distracting. Overall this is a solid purchase but probably not the best, be sure to shop around for other brands/deals before settling on this one.

5 comments about Mitsubishi WD-65833 - 65" Diamond rear projection TV ( DLP ) - widescreen - 1080p (FullHD) - HDTV - high-gloss black pearl with blue light accent.
  1. I read quite a few reviews for this TV before purchasing it. I read many complaints about the sound of the fan, yet I am watching it right this second and I hear no sound at all and never have. When it is completely silent in the room, you can hear a slight hum, but that is it. So do not worry about that problem. Next, the picture is beyond belief. The colors are so brilliant, my jaw actually dropped the first time I turned on the set. (And I still shake my head in disbelief on how beautiful the clarity and color are.) Put in a blu-ray 1080p disk and you will think you are in heaven. Also, this is the only TV I could find with four HDMI inputs and two ieee1394 firewire ports. Therefore, do not have any worries about purchasing this TV.

  2. I upgraded from a Panasonic 50' LCD, that had an awesome picture. This one tops it by far. I did a lot of research before deciding on which TV I was going to purchase, comparing models, and the picture quality on this model was far above and beyond the competitors. This TV is also quiet. On the Panasonic I could hear the cooling fans while the TV was on. It never bothered me, but I can't hear a thing on this TV. It was made for High Definition. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the picture quality blurs a bit or is pretty grainy when you have less than a high definition signal. It can be modified some by the controls, and it's not annoying enough to give me a moment of regret in the purchase. I've hooked it up to an upconverting DVD player as well as a Blu-ray player (I know the Blu-ray also upconverts)and the picture from both on this TV are awesome! The screen is huge. I like how it doesn't have speakers on the side taking away some of the screen space. I would recommend this to anyone, it is so much fun.

  3. Mitsubishi was once a premium line for large screen products. Their quality and customer service have hit rock bottom. The quality is questionable and its doubtful that their products produce the 1080p image that they claim. Buyer beware. They have lost my loyalty and my business. There are too many other high quality offerings to choose from such as Sony, Samsung and Sharp. Don't be taken by Mitsubishi. You've been warned.

  4. I researched a lot of tv's before committing to the diamond series Mitsubishi wd 65833. I figured I did not need a thin tv as I was using a stand anyway to hold my other components so I went for the bigger picture with dlp technology. This set only has one competitor and that would be Sony's 60 inch sxbr rear projection set. My son has the Sony, and I bought the Mitsubishi. I have had no problems from day one (got the set early jan 08)The picture is the best I have ever seen on a tv this large. There was mention of a fan noise which I have yet to hear but I have worked in a factory for 33 years so the hearing ain't what it used to be. I would recomend this set to anyone looking for a great tv for not a lot of money. Get it soon so you can watch the Cardinals in grand style this summer!

  5. After reviewing several rear projection TVs for months, I was down to two Mitsubishi and Samsung. I picked this Mitsubishi TV because of the size 65" and all the features it has. I delayed on purpose reviewing this TV so I can get to know and see how it performs. It has been more then a month and I can say that there are no disappointments with it yet.

5 comments about Panasonic TH-50PZ700U 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV.
  1. I had a tough time trying to decide between a plasma and LCD television. I took into consideration room lighting, video games, and picture quality. The final selling point for me was a side-by-side comparison between the two. The plasma television is much smoother when watching action or sports shows. The LCD would "blur" when quick motion shots were on. Getting it home (Costco) and setting it up was simple. I do wish it had one more HDMI connection, but not a deal breaker. I hooked up a TIVO box with cable card (love this setup) and a Panasonic Blu-ray disc player (DMP-BD30). I originally bought a Sony player, but tired of the slow start-up time. The Panasonic picture is clean and clear. I have no complaints. I would highly recommend this television to anyone looking. I would also highly recommend plasma for those comparing the two. I have a Sharp 32" LCD in the bedroom and the plasma picture is much better. There is nothing wrong with LCD, but for main picture viewing, plasma is the way to go. LCD is better suited for bedrooms or kids rooms (video games).

  2. I orginally bought this TV because it was rated very highly. I had a couple of Samsung LCD's and thought I would try a plasma. When I had it delivered and tried to set it up I found that I could not increase the brightness and contrast to the level I wanted. Depending on the channel, this aspect of the picture varied between good and fair. The resolution, however, was excellent. To make a long story short, after investigation I realized that the difference in pictures between the plasmas and LCD's was significant. I had read that the LCD's were brighter but I always assumed that picture adjustment could minimize the difference. Wrong. Now beauty is in the eye of the beholder, because other people were satisfied with the picture. However, it didn't work for me and I exchanged it for another Samsung LCD and I am now very happy. If for any reason you are sensitive to the brightness and vibrance of the picture then I would recommend you note the differences in technologies.

  3. This Panasonic Plasma HDTV is simply an incredible product. The picture quality stands out as nothing short of impressive. I found this HDTV to strike the perfect balance between excellent quality and price. After months of searching for a quality product to invest my money in, this HDTV does not disappoint.

While there has been some history of people expressing concern about the picture brightness of plasma flat-panels (i.e. being too dim), I have found this Panasonic to provide ample brightness of picture. As a matter of fact, a description in my house of the picture is how the colors "glow." Of course this is referring the the brighter colors. This leads me to another aspect of the picture, the darker colors. This is where this plasma really stands out. The darker colors are well defined with deep blacks. The grays and blacks are well delineated. For someone who likes to view a lot of movies, the strength of it's display of darker colors is something that I have found impressive. Additionally, the plasma is excellent in it's display of motion. For a sports fan, such as myself, this plasma does an excellent job of displaying the motion of sports.

Also of note with this plasma is that the performance of the speakers turned out to be a pleasant surprise. One of my wife's first comments about this Panasonic was the good quality of sound from it's speakers.

After having this Panasonic for about 4 months, I've had no problems with this product and have found it to be free of defects.

While I've spent much time providing a "glowing" review of this set, I'll turn to any perceived weaknesses. They are few, and I almost have to search for them.

One of the main weaknesses that I found is the need for tender, love & care that the plasma requires. Specifically, plasmas can be at danger for screen "burn-in" by leaving a static image on the screen for too long. While I have not had any burn-in problems, I do remain vigilant about not leaving the tv on while unattended. At least this helps me to save on my electricity bill as these HDTVs are known to be energy hogs. As a precaution, I do not leave letterbox shows on the screen for hours uninterrupted. My complaint regarding this weakness is that the manual mentions image retention/screen burn-in, but the manual does not clearly define the length of time before there is danger of burn-in.

One last weakness that I found is that there are only 2 HDMI connection ports. While that is just enough for me, it would be nice to have an extra just in case.

In conclusion, I am extremely impressed with this Panasonic plasma. I am really glad that I choose this set, and my family and I get much enjoyment out of it. I view this set as being worth every penny that I paid for it. Panasonic has won me over.

  4. straight up, i did my research for about a year while i saved money. this is the best set you will find for your money, everything you've read about it is true, except one thing. Burn-in. Gamers beware. Even if you watch HD-TV with a symbol in the corner like 'TLC' you'll get burn in if the icon doesn't move. I have this set and a good friend does too. what really upsets me is playing my ps3 through this. Sharp as a razor yes. adding a static wallpaper for a custom theme though is a BAD idea. Try it, you'll see. then play some music and turn the visualizer on. if you cant see the burn in, then get your eyes checked. play rock band or guitar hero FOR AN HOUR (which is'nt hard to do), turn any white background on, look for the game icon burn ins (rock meter, etc). Generally they go away after a couple hours, but its frustrating. BOTH my set and my good friend's set do the same thing. even a half hour of a static image will create burn in. Granted its better now a days than it used to be, at least it goes away after some time.... if you're a gamer, pick up the sharp aquos. no burn-in on an lcd set; and the runner up as far as a great picture goes (reds are a little funny at times though). Reviews are slightly lower, but hell, you could at least leave a game system on pause without havening to worry about switching the inputs to avoid burn in. Im serious folks. take heed. great set, bad for gamers and burn-in. sharp as a razor though....

  5. Excellent. TV came quickly with no damage, which was a concern because of its size and delicacy!!
