- Excellent TV!!! Have had it for a few months, and no issues. Crisp image with no blur. The 120HZ technology is a real breakthrough, as I have no issues watching the action / sci fi movies I love.
Easy remote and menu navigation, my wife and I had no trouble adjusting the settings to our preferences. Wife loves it too.
It has many inputs, so we have been able to connect all our devices to it. Love it!!!
- Pros: Excellent picture quality; 120Hz with 5:5 pulldown (ClearFrame); matte screen finish
Cons: Cinema Mode only works with interlaced signals; Film Stabilization only works with interlaced signals and effects are extremely subtle; On-screen menus take up too much screen space
If you are looking for an HDTV that will give you an excellent picture when playing a Blu-ray DVD without the desire for the film stabilitzation effects that 1st-generation sets were providing, this set is the one for you. A 1080p24 signal from a Blu-Ray player with the ClearFrame feature provides for an incredible picture. This is one of the few sets that provides 120hz with 5:5 pulldown, so instead of having to do 3:2 pulldown and dealing with telecine judder, you can have 5:5 pulldown to get true reproduction of 24 frames per second.
However, if you are looking for a set that does rock-solid anti-juddering for 3:2 pulldown on a 1080p24 signal, this is not the set for you. It turned out to be a major disappointment for me. You might ask, "Why in the world would you want this when you can have 5:5 pulldown without juddering?" I wanted this feature because of the effect it has on the cinematography of a movie (some call it the Soap Opera effect).
My wife and I first became interested in getting an HDTV and Blu-Ray player when we saw one on display in Las Vegas last winter playing Santa Clause 3. It immediately caught our attention because of the rock-solid detail on the screen. We also noticed it had a different look to it. The anti-judder software caused the movie to look more like video than film. We really liked the effect and this was our top requirement for an HDTV. The Toshiba Film Stabilization was supposed to do this and actually does on some of their sets. For more info on this effect, read this article posted at http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-6449_7-6792632-1.html
There is a trio of features on this set that interact with each other. First, there is the Cinema Mode which one would think you just tell the TV whether the source is film (DVD;Blu-ray DVD, etc.) or a video (TV). These are the choices for this set, but for some reason, Toshiba decided to make this feature available only to an interlaced source (480i and 1080i). Why in the world would they do this? Film is film and viewing a Blu-Ray 1080p24 source is why I wanted an HDTV. Progressive sources versus interlaced sources should be irrelevant to this feature. So I guess this means that for Blu-Ray, Toshiba did not want to give me the option to see a movie via 3:2 pulldown, but don't really know for sure.
Then it gets more convoluted. To use Film Stabilization, the Cinema Mode must be set to Film and Clearframe must be on. Clearframe switches the set from 60hz to 120hz, though I'm not sure why one would pick 60hz for anything since 120hz should be able to handle any pulldown or soucre signal that the 60hz option would be used for. Since Cinema Mode of "Film" only works with interlaced sources, Film Stabilization only works with interlaced sources. This sucks because my Blu-Ray player only displays 24 frames per second when in the 1080p mode.
I haven't figured out how, but a couple of times the set has allowed me to change the Film Stabilization setting with the Cinema Mode grayed out. I couldn't tell whether the set was really doing 3:2 pulldown or 5:5 pulldown. In the highest Film Stabilization setting of "Smooth", the effects were barely noticable, except for the occasional slow-pan where the objects skip from one point to another on the screen during the pan. Even then, I would have never noticed the difference if I was not looking for it. The same subtleties occurred when I set the Blu-Ray player to output in 1080i (output is not in 24 frames per second).
I called Toshiba to verify that this set is designed to use Film Stabilization only with interlaced sources and they concurred. I filed a complaint via their website as their advertisements never told the consumer that Film Stabilization is not designed to work with 1080p sources, but they never responded. I guess customer satisfaction is not that important.
I waited to purchase this set because it was one of the few 5:5 pulldown sets out there. I ordered it through Amazon/J&R Music because of the incredible sale that J&R was running. The set wasn't here in the local stores, so I guess the lesson-learned is to wait until the set gets into the store so that you can see if it lives up to all the hype.
Even with all the criticism I've provided, I'm giving it four stars. If this set didn't have an amazing picture with 5:5 pulldown capability, I would have rated it at 2 or 3 stars.

- I ordered this tv after looking for a set that would fit in my entertainment unit to replace a 32 inch set, and this was the only 32 inch hdtv that would fit in the spot, also it had many features and had a reat picture. i looked at one at my local goodguys electronics store and the were charging 1300 plus tax, so i searched and amazon had the same on e for 994 plus 99 shipping, so iI ordered it from them, well the product says usually ships in 24 hours, but remeber usually, it took 5 days before they shipped it, then the shipper egl logistics had a 5 day delivery with this unit, and after 3 days, I checked thier website and put in the tracking number, and that saturday it was at my local airport and scnnned by egl, 2 days later I got a call from egl saying they could only deliver this item between 10 and 12 on a tuesday, well i work for a living and was off that monday, but was told they are not in my area on monday, and that the package was not even n the area at this time even though it was sitting on thier dock, as per thier tracking system on thier site. so I had enough and called amazon and they got back to me and said that you can not track items with egl and to call thier 800 number, real customer service would have done this for me, so I called the 800 number and was told that indeed the product should be in my home on thursday and they were calling the local office to investigaste, oh yea i was on vacation for the whole week but had to return to work that friday, which I thought was one day after the product should have been delivered, and they agreed and somehow egl found a way to get me the set on that thursday, i also bought a warrantee from servicemaster which extends the warranty by 4 years after the unit is out of waranty for 110 buck, bottom line on set = 4 bottom line on amazon service -1, and egl, for coming thru a 4, if you have probs, call egl direct.
- I bought this set from Amazon and am overall pleased with it.
The Good: The picture is unbelievably good even compared with Sony's 32 inchers. The low price makes this set a steal. The Bad: I originally was interested in this tv because it is the only 32 incher that was narrow enough to fit in my entertainment center. After I got it, I went to hook up my DVD and realized the set's only S-Video connection is on the SIDE of the set- there was not enough room for me to hook up my DVD player. The Ugly: Shipping took 11 days from order date to in my living room.
- I selected this TV because of the size. This set is designed to be less wide than most 32" sets so it fit perfectly into my cabinet. Delivery was great. The scheduling was easy and two guys delivered it into the house and down the stairs (this baby is heavy).
Be sure you can use the DVI interface for input to this TV. When I first hooked it up to my high definition cable box via component video the HD channels were a little wavy around the edges. Not bad, but noticable. Once I purchased a DVI cable (100 bucks!) and hooked it up via DVI the picture on this set was pefect. Looks fantastic. One thing to watch out for is that the only S-Video input is on the side and if you have the set in a cabinet you can't access it.
- The picture and sound are awesome on this TV. Many of the reviews here are copied from an older model, the TXM3298HF. The new model TXN3298HF, released in the first half of Jan 2004, remembers all of your settings when turned off. (How did that ever get into distribution?)
Also notice the unfair skewing that rating the dealer has on what people actually have to say about the TV. I bought mine elsewhere, and have no complaints. The DNIe image enhancement engine, and automatic conversion of signals to higher quality mean that I don't see any improvement by switching my DVD player to progressive scan. Might sound like a complaint, but it just means the TV's doing a great job cleaning up incoming signals. The S-Video input is still on the left side, making accessing it difficult for those of you who need it. I don't, so it's no big deal. My complaints about the TV are very minor: * The velocity scan picture enhancement does a nice job of improving the picture, but has a very subtle effect of making the low-contrast details of an image swim after the high contrast portions. For instance, if somebody jiggles their head, the eyes, mouth and other high-contrast portions of their face move quickly, but the subtle lines on their forehead move very slightly slower. My wife doesn't notice it, so maybe you won't. The digital noise reduction should only be used on bad signals: it blurs good ones. * Pushing the quick-access settings buttons on the remote produces two different effects. Some buttons display the current setting, others immediately change it. If you have a regular, one rca cable signal on one input and a component on another, you may have to push one button four times to change to the rca input, and another button two times to switch to the component. If you have a universal remote with macros, it's not a problem. If all of your inputs are s-video, digital or component, you can use one button to switch between all inputs.

- I purchased this to replace a large, B&W TV that sits on our kitchen counter so the unit's primary use was to be a TV. After getting it installed, it would play one CD/DVD but not another. I realized that one of the installation screws to top mount the screen was in too tight making it come into contact with the moving parts of the DVD/CD player... loosing the screw fixed that. However, I was not able to get anything even of the lowest quality for TV reception. I tried numerous antennas and gizmos from Radio Shack with no luck -- audio was fine but no picture, even switch from "air" to "cable" mode. I don't believe there is any type of TV/FM/AM tuner built into the machine. If you want a very glorified undercounter DVD player, this your machine... if you want TV, better to buy a small, portable. By the way, Amazon was great in accepting this poor quality item as a return!
- I have had this unit about a month now, works good. Much slimmer than the Sony and Poloroid versions, and for less money. Came with all the connectors and mounting hardware you need. Has Audio out and A/V in ports - not all competitors do! Smooth, easy to understand operation. The MP3 CD/DVD option is a bit hard to use, but DVD, tuner, and regular music CD's work fine. Two minor complaints - internal and external speakers cannot be used at the same time, and the internal speakers are a bit week for a loud kitchen. Dish washers, running water, chewing all make the internal speakers hard to hear. I ended hooking up a set externalally powered speakers - now it rocks.
- We had to return/exchenge this item 4 times due to glitches (the clock always lagged behind and 2 out of 4 times the cd player skipped.) Finally, after the 4th exchange, we just sent it to Audiovox to have the clock repaired and it came back to us with the SAME PROBLEM!
The original seller (6th Ave Electronics) finally told us they would give us a full refund of our money including shipping.
- was to be new in box the box look like a truck ran over it and the dvd player dose not work had to send it

- One thing I have discovered is that you get what you pay for in a projector. We have 2 other projectors at our company that were $500 or less, and their quality is substantially less than this machine. I keep this particular unit in house since it performs so well. It has connected easily with several different brands of laptops, although I have not been able to get our one Apple I-Book to display properly. (Probably user error.) The fan is quiet, and the picture quality is excellent and easy to read on the screen or wall. The controls are easy to use, and the feet make it adjustable on most any table. I definitely would recommend this unit.

- We wanted a relatively small projector for Powerpoint presentations. Had to be bright enough for a large room. This is the brightest projector that I could find in this price range. Good news is that the projector is very light weight. It does come with a very cheap carrying bag. The image quality is excellent. Color is true and brightness is even across the entire screen. More than adequate brightness. I did notice that out of the box the color seemed to emphasize towards blue. But this is easy to adjust. I also noticed that gray levels are not up to par with our laptops. We can see details within gray areas on our laptop screen, but can't do so when projected. This may be a common problem with LCD projectors since my old own does the same. Another plus is that this projector works flawlessly with PC and Mac laptops. I had one hooked up to each input, and was able to switch between a mac and pc without any problems. So in terms of performance, I give it 4.5 for my intended uses.
Some points to consider: This projector is made out of rather flimsy plastic. Likely to keep weight and cost down. Perhaps its been years since our last projector purchase (a suitcase size Epson), but the appearance of this projectors just wreaks cheapness. Emphasizing this sense of cheapness is the case. This is a plain black, thinly padded soft case that is not going to protect such a fragile projector. Get a better case if you are going to to buy this projector.
So to summarize: Small, bright, works really well, PC/Mac compatible. But questionable build quality.

- I've been looking at buying a 52 LCD for 6 months. Wanted a Toshiba lx177 from last year but decided to wait for further change in technology. Looked at last years Samsung 71's and Sony xbr4's and all had issues. I waited for the 52xv540 because the quality was there for the right price. This tv looked great out of the box and has dazzled my Sony owning nieghbors who paid more than a $1000 more for thier tv's. Bluray & ps3 are incredible and if you like the motion technology on these high end tv's, you'll love Toshibas version of it. It's less intrusive than Samsungs & Sony's version but still it's evident and gives the picture a 3D look. Your HD channels will really shine. SD tv looks pretty good but your not buying this tv to look at analog channels, right? If your looking at this tv or the thin bezel version xf550, then you'll want to compare it to the new Samsung 650's and the new Sony w series. Take a look at those and price compare, read some forums and I think you'll love this tv as much as I do! I saved over $800 by buying online!
- This tv is the best at it's PRICE range for a 52" lcd tv. At this price range you want to consider this tv and a sony z series. I will elaborate on the reason why in this review. It's got a great picture but it's not as sharp as the sony z series which costs the same amount for a smaller 46" generally. The toshiba does have a slightly better picture than the new sony 52" w series of the same size which is around the same price. However the toshiba does support deep color and 5:5 pulldown which is the same thing as 24 p or film speed or 24 frames per second. this is a important new technology that samsung forgot to include on their new lcd series. Many blu ray players output blu rays at 24p if your tv can take the signal. When this happens the movie looks like it did in the movie theater with smooth motion. The same sized sony w series does this also but isn't as sharp picture wise as this tv but and it lacks deep color which this tv has. Anyways if you have a blu ray player or ps3 you want a tv that can intake 24p or 5:5 pulldown. (these are the same thing). the toshiba does this and gives you deep color and the w series of sony of the same size just gives you 24p. You get more picture size for a little more money with this toshiba than the z series. But you don't get x.v. color which helps expand the color. the sony z series and above do this function.
the new sony xbr6 will have 24p, deep color, and x.v. color too and will be the same size as this tv but will run you alot more. Of course you DON'T want any lcd that can't do 120hz and most NEW lcd tv's do that. At this price range for this size of tv , toshiba is the best bet. If you want a sharper picture though you will have to drop down to the z series which is only a 46" or xbr5 which is more expensive. Why am I going on about x.v. color , deep color, and 24p (5:5 pulldown)?, because these are the standards that will carry us into the far future. deep color and x.v. color allow the tv to accept more color and show more color. if they offer tv's with greater than 1080p this is LESS important because nothing will be set to output at that anyway. so it's not that important. but having a lcd tv that can do 120 hz, is a good thing, greater hz(240) lcds will come in the next few years probably, but you will have a good enough tv to be satisfied with a 120 hz tv.
for many , many , years to come. and this tv is good enough to be happy with for at least five years conservatively. It has the 24p (5:5 pulldown)amd deep color and a large screen. It doesn't have the x.v. color but to get it at this price you must find a smaller z series from sony. Many representitives at stores have not been informed on these new standards , which you will want far into the future. But if you have blu ray you NEED a tv that does 24p (5:5 pulldown). why spend money on a LARGER 42' and above lcd without this feature? So it comes down to it at this price range, a smaller z series with all the new standards or this great tv with two of the new standards. But whatever you get you want the 24p standard. this has it, sadly the samsung lcd ranges and many others don't. If you can't live without a 52 inch then this a good buy also. but if you want the best picture (at this price range) out there right now you would go with a z series. These are the new 2008 models of course that this review has been comparing. This is a long review but few salesmen are telling their customers about the new standards at all. And you do get two of them on this tv so that makes this a better buy than alot of other tv's at this price. At this price range I would suggest you look at this in a showroom, the picture quality is great , the z series is clearer though but smaller for the same price range. So far the models on showrooms here show no defects or purple blotches. Some lcds get those defects in early runs. So that is more good news. All in all , this is a fine tv with a great picture and good blacks, it has a good processor too so it is a better buy than the sony w series of the same size. And it's not as great a tv as the sony z series but it is bigger. Many go for the samsungs at this size but they shortchanged their customers by leaving off 24p film speed and deep color. So skip them and think toshiba or sony lcd and then compare.

- This TV is incredible! This is my first LCD TV, and I was really afraid of things like viewing angle, image distortion. However, this TV has erased everything from my mind, especially when I put a DVD. Another plus is its size: perfect for a bedroom! Great choice!
- This is the most awesome tv. The experience of watching programs in HD on this set is like looking through a window at things as they happen right before your eyes. The contrast and picture quality is unsurpassed. Setup was so easy and I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Amazon had the best price by far and even sent me a refund when the price dropped $100 within the first month after I bought the set.
- this is one great tv. the picture, sound, and over all experience is wonderful. i searched around for all different brands of lcd hdtv that were flat screens. in the end, no tv had a better picture and price than this tv.
i always thought playing xbox 360 was fun in general, but hooking it up to this tv makes that experience phenomenal.
This tv is well worth the money (I would have paid more if Amazon's price wasn't so low haha).
- I am able to review this TV because of the savings Amazon provided over in town pricing on another TV we purchased through them, the Samsung LN-T4069F (you will also notice some cut and paste of the review I did for that TV as many of Samsungs feature set are the same on both TVs). The savings alone on our other purchase made this purchase possible.
I did the mandatory research (as most of you have) before purchasing this TV and am extremely happy with my purchase. Having the LN-T4069F for a bit allowed us to have our faith in Samsung confirmed.
I was worried about the shipping process (and damage horror stories) on this unit as it was shipped UPS (vs. Eagle on the LN-T4069F). However the worries were unfounded. The unit arrived in perfect condition.
The TV is excellent for this category. The picture is awesome in HD. SD does not look very good compared to a CRT, but for a 26", it is not nearly as bad looking as a 40". I am one of those people that refuses to stretch a 4:3 image to widescreen so the size of the 4:3 image was important to me, and on this TV (because I found no specs or mention of this on any web site) the non stretched 4:3 picture is 13" H, 18"W which is 22" Diagonal. This is secondary TV for us, so unlike the need for 120Hz on the LN-T4069F for gaming and watching motorsports, we chose this standard LCD since budget was an issue. Although I have not played video games on it, there is the normal LCD motion blur in fast moving action, to be expected but not as bad as I thought without the 120Hz feature.
The sound is good for TV of this size. You have decent stereo separation, and the TruSurround XT does a nice job. Small speakers like these do have decent sound, nice for built ins, but don't expect any bass.
Cons:
Unless it is a hidden feature that I have yet to find, you cannot custom name your inputs. Even my 27" Panasonic TV purchase in 2000 allowed you to custom name your inputs to whatever you like. On this TV you have only presets choices (such as HD STB, Game, DVD, etc). You can't input things such as Xbox 360, Cox HD Cable and the like. It is hard to believe a feature like this missing, but I won't downgrade the overall score of the TV for something so small that really has no bearing on the quality of build and picture of this unit.
The base does not provide any swivel or adjustments at all, it is a fixed unit.
- I purchased this for a bedroom and have it on a wall bracket. It was easy to install, has good sound for it's size and the picture is great.
Only comment is on some older TV shows the backgrounds can be a bit too dark. I've tried playing with the setting but it doesn't help much. I would recommend this Samsung. It's a good TV at a great price.
