- Good value and product shipped quickly.
Picture quality is mediocre for non-HD programs.
- This is the 2nd LG monitor/TV I own and see absolutely no reason not to buy LG again. Picture is excellent, even with non HD programming. Of course the quality of your non-HD programming depends on the feed... so thats really negligible.
If you're looking for an excellent mid-range priced HDTV then this is the one to get.

- Setup was fairly easy. We use it in the kitchen. You must rotate the stand to rotate the TV ... a slight disadvantage in this environment. The picture is fine, but the sound is strangely inadequate. We have to keep it a the max setting all the time.
- The picture quality is great on HD, but the sound is only fair. The audio comes out of small speakers pointed down out the bottom. The result is a "tin" sound. The volume has to be turned up fairly loud to hear it. The only audio out is via optical cable, so to hook it up to an external speaker would require an AV receiver. I don't want to do this since I bought the TV for the kitchen and I want to minimize the space. So everything is a tradeoff. I got a reasonbly decent picture and compromised on sound and got an HDTV that doesn't take much space at all.
The small kitchen remote is neat the way it fits in the small indentation of the base. Its very convenient for turning it on and off and volume controls. You can also channel up and down, but that is a tedious way to find your channel. For that they have the regular remote which we leave on the table. Two remotes is nice. The full size remote allows you to program up to four favorite channels--also a nice feature.
One last feature on the picture. The full size remote allows you to cycle through 4 preset AV modes such as movie, game, user defined, and dynamic. While this is nice, I haven't found one setting that seems to be best for all my viewing. Some shows are too dark on one setting, so I have to change it to another, then change it back for another show.
I wanted a 19" HDTV capable of receiving up to 1080i. This will compress the signal to 760, but at least it can handle it. This and a Toshiba model were the only ones I found that I thought could do it.
- This TV is the perfect size for our kitchen. We love the clear, bright HD picure. It's great for watching basketball while we fix dinner.
- Buying this TV was a nightmare! I ordered this TV and the vendor (not amazon.com) that sold it to me sent me a DIFFERENT TV! Hoping I would be stupid enough not to notice! I reviewed the other TV he sent me and after alot of thought decided to keep it (was running out of time to get a TV for my parents for Xmas) and when we opened it and turned it on, the volume was defective! I returned it to the vendor and he said I would get credit minus shipping and restocking! I told him it was defective and he said it was not! I told him to plug it in himself and see! I am sure he knew it was and bought it at a discount and then tryed to sell it to me hoping I would not notice! WHAT A CROOK! I was lucky that amazon.com credit card did take care of the shipping and restocking for me, but I told Amazon.com that the vendor that sold it to me was a crook!!!! I think the Sharp Aquos is a good TV, but I never got to see it! So beware of what you actually get vs what you order!

- Only reason I purchased this TV was because it was fairly inexpensive. I put it downstairs for the kids to use. Of course the TV is not as good as a plasma since you need to be directly in from of the DLP projections, but for the kids it is good.
Stick with the LCD and plasma Tv's if you want a family TV.
- This is a great HDTV for the price. Picture quality is outstanding. The only drawback is the sound quality is average and the remote control is poorly designed. I tried to have my Direct TV remote programmed but it was not compatible with this model.
- Be prepared to pay the "DLP Tax" annually. That is one lamp each year. Toshiba knows that these lamps will not run 6-8000 Hrs. 2000-3000 is normal. I have spoken to 3 different Toshiba Authorized repairs centers and hey all verify that a year is the average lifespan of these lamps.
- I have a Toshiba 42HM66 Model # TV. We like the picture quality of the television but the sound is lacking - can't increase the way you want. The one major problem is we have had it 13 months now - and have to change the DLP Lamp - which costs over $300. This television we figure has about 2800 hours of usage on it. These lamps are advertised usage over 3000 hours - that's so false!!! I am so upset and know that i have to purchase a new lamp every year - i think not - I think i am going to sell this television and buy a SONY!!!! oh yeah - the customer support ith toshiba was no help either - good luck!
- I wish I knew before I bought this TV for my dad. I think I paid $799 for it just 15 months ago and the lamp has to be replaced. Until this point I was happy with Toshiba products(I have a 42" LCD and two HD-DVD players) but now...How can you justify a TV that costs $1000 retail having to have a $200 part every year? Of course the warranty expired 3 months ago. An extended warranty may have covered the new bulb but you have to make sure, for $50 bucks or so the 2 year warranty would cover 2 bulbs at this rate and save about $400.

- OK. I've essentially written the same review on Amazon and a few other vendors selling this product. I "still" believe that it's a discontinued product because Toshiba is pushing it's 120 mghz product and has entered into a relationship with Sharp for future sets. This may well be a "good marriage". But from my perspective, I've had this set nearly two months now and have read the reviews and specs on it for several months previous to purchase. The price now (well under $ 2,000) is an EXCELLENT buy..."for now". The set is thin where it counts and HUGE where it counts! People literally stop talking when an HDTV channel is on when viewing this set. It's that good! No banding. No ghosting. No "blurring" with fast action (tennis, golf, hockey, you name it). Regular DVD replay is excellent and you have options to improve the picture quality of those DVDs, if you love movies! Standard TV is good and more than watchable. Just go to Best Buy or any other retail outlet and see any of the "Regza" Toshiba sets (which may soon be discontinued). They truly outshine all the competition ... Sony, Samsung, Sharp, Phillips, et.al. Then you can SEE for yourself. But if it were me, I'd buy this same set all over again. You're going to pay a lot more and get a lot less otherwise, if you pass up this Toshiba line.
-
I recently purchased the REGZA 52RV530U LCD HDTV. I am very happy with the performance and picture. The screen size is manually adjustable which I really like. My Sharp Aquos adjusts automatically to the input it recieves. Overall the picture quality is excellent and I believe matches the higher price sets. Fast motion is in no way blurry and I can't see any blurring at all.
Beautiful set I would highly recommend.

5 comments about LG 37LC7D 37-inch 720p LCD HDTV.
- I bought this HDTV yesterday and it doesn't work right at all. The TV cannot seem to produce the color black, and replaces anything that is dark with big ugly red bars. I'm sure this could just be mine, but I purchased it new at Best Buy, so I do not think it should have this problem out of the box. I watched an entire movie with the menu open trying to adjust everything I could to make the picture better, but it never worked. Don't be fooled by the cheap price, this television is useless. Save your money and buy a more expensive TV that will work.
- Lg Electronics M3701c-ba Black 37" Wide Screen Hdtv Compatible LCD T.v.
Delivery speedy and driver unpacked and checked basic operation. With Directv Satellite service even HD programming is excellent. Even quieting of commercial volume works. Only negatives thus far (3 weeks) are: a)to much time for channels to change ( maybe satellite?) b)operations manual is on CD. The printed one has far to little info, but will get you started.
- I have had this television for about 6 months now. I originally purchased an open box display unit that mysteriously would shut itself on and off. Once it was off it wouldn't power up for hours with the switch or remote. After thoroughly checking all the timer and alarm settings I called LG about the problem only to find that the serial number had already been registered with this complaint and scheduled for a return to the factory. Circuit City shamelessly tried to sell it instead!
Anyway I got a brand new model from CC for the same price because of their mistake. And have loved every minute of owning this unit. I immediately upgraded my digital cable to include an HD DVR and purchased a Yamaha 5.1 receiver for optimal sound. (Mostly to use with my Mac mini home theater connected with a DVI to HDMI cable and sound through a TOSlink optical cord.)
Television quality is excellent. Nice high contrast ratio. Response rate is quick for sports and F1 races (and gaming is superb in HD!) Overall I couldn't recommend this HDTV enough. LG continues to impress me with their quality and value.
- the tv picture is horrible. watching a basketball game looks worse than any regular tv. i was going to return but upon reading the internet sites fine print. there is no returns on lcd tv's. so i will have to take the hit. horrible lcd tv
- We ordered the TV via Amazon and even though shipping would have been free, I paid a little extra to have it delivered in 3 days because I feared the longer it stayed in the shipping process, the better the chances of it being damaged.
Anyway, we are very happy with the TV. The distance from which you watch it is important. The best picture is from a distance of about 15' away. Any closer, and the picture isn't as great. But it's hard to go back to regular TV once you've watched it in HD. I'm hopelessly spoiled!
The set up was EASY! I read reviews about how difficult it was to set it up, and that's bogus. It was very easy. Given, I am electronically inclined, but I think my husband could have set it up easily and he's a doof. Haha!
The sound is great too, especially for built in speakers.
I was scared to buy something this pricey online, because if something goes wrong, you're kind of screwed. But the entire process from purchase to delivery was perfect. I do recommend reading up on sellers though, before you decide to go for it. Read other customer reviews on the seller!!! I changed my mind on a seller last minute and paid a little more for the TV just because I had a bad feeling.

- I'm very happy with this product. It's exactly what I expected and it arrived promptly. Great value.
- i was choosing between Samsung and this TV, and i am so glad i chose this one! i have to say, i am not an artist, so my perception of color is very average. having said that, i think my HD channels are very life-like! i still find myself being amazed at how awesome it comes in.
i remember there was a couple of reviews here about how it takes forever to get turned on. YES! it's a good 30 seconds before it actually wakes up. it can get annoying, but for the price you're paying and the quality of everything else, I'd say it's worth it.
The TV has a lot of ports: i have my cable box, my dvd player, and my wii hooked up to it, and i still have one or two open!
i tried to hook up my laptop to it, and while you can watch movies (they come in just fine), i had a lot of trouble with adjusting screen rez so it would be readable. so basically, make sure you know what you're doing, or have someone who does close by :) i had someone tell me it would never be readable b/c of the kind of TV it is (1080p) but the jury is still out on that one.
oh, and don't forget about amazon's 30 day price guarantee! i got about $200 back around Christmas time.
- It did take a while to recieve this TV and it was difficult to track, but it came as promised and not a minute sooner.
The TV is great. Beautiful picture, quick and easy to set up...and I'm a girl. I just needed help lifting it to the TV stand I am using for it. I loved that I didn't have to haul it from the store. It was delivered directly to the room where I set it up...and the shipping and tax were free. Great deal...better than I could find anywhere locally.
I've played video games with the video game setting and they are terrific on this set. I haven't watched a DVD or hooked up my computer to it yet, but I will as this set is ready for it all.
I live in the Dallas/Ft Worth area and just use cheap HD rabit ears to recieve HD programming over the air. It is spectacular! It even has an information button that gives a title and synopsis of the current program...over the air! I can't stand to watch analog tv in my bedroom or at my parents any more.
- I bought this TV about 3 months ago. I waited to write a review after putting it through a fairly extensive test period.
This TV is nothing less than outstanding. The picture is gorgeous. The set looks humongous since it replaced a 26 inch LCD. It is a little heavier than I'd prefer, but having a swivel base surely helps. The default picture setting is set to "sports", which has a very bright and unnatural color scheme. After playing with the regular setting choices, I found the "document" setting to be the best for my eyes. This set has many input choices, and I like the fact that it has a set of AV inputs on the side. This is very useful if you mount the TV to a wall, or it's hard to get to the back for any reason.
Hooked up to my standard cable connection, it picks up all the unscrambled digital channels. This means I am able to watch my local broadcast channels in their full HD glory!
Our XBox 360 is connected through HDMI, and games as well as movies are truly breathtaking. Because of the size of this TV, I came to realize that not all DVDs are made equal. The difference between poor quality DVDs and the "near HD" quality ones is suddenly quite obvious. I'm still going to wait to get a blueray (or whatever the next HD standard) disk player when they cost less than $100. Until then, I'll be very discriminating when purchasing DVDs.
I like the power saving feature in this TV, even though some reviewers find it annoying. It causes the TV to take a few seconds before it powers up. This delay also allows for the other AV components to turn on and get ready for the party. ;-)
If I have to pick something to complain about it would be the remote. Sure it has all the functions, etc, but it performs poorly. I find myself having to press a button several times to get it to register. Perhaps it's a problem with the batteries. Nevertheless, I am using a Harmony 880 remote instead, and it works fantastic. No problem.
I hope this TV is good for many years of moderate use. Time will tell. For now, I am a very happy camper (now bordering into couch potato territory).
- I purchased this TV in June of 2007 and was absolutely happy with my purchase until about 9 months later when the panel went bad. A dark line showed up on the right side of the screen. While it was still watchable, it ws definitely annoying, and since I was still in my warranty period I took it to the shop to have it replaced. They took care of everything and even though it took a month for the new panel to be shipped (these are large, fragile items and have to be shipped through a ground freight company, so no matter which manufacturer and repair shop you are dealing with this is a fact of life), everything went well and I am satisfied with the repair.
One thing you have to keep in mind about the panel on your LCD TV is that there only a couple of companies in the world that manufacture all of the panels for the TV's. So if you get a bad panel, it isn't necessarily Toshiba's fault. They buy the panel, then build their brand of TV around it. If your panel has a defect, you were just unlucky and shouldn't give the manufacturer a bad review unless they handled the service poorly (which some people here have with Toshiba).

- I bought this product at Best Buy. It seemed to be the best as far as resolution and still below $1000. They call it a data projector, but in fact I use it for movies and the like. DVDs play with good clarity on a typical DVD player. Settings for the computer require some adjustment. It does get a bit grainy watching mpg quality video. It seems to be better for a ceiling mount due to the projection angle. The product is impressive, but not over impressive for what is on the market today.
- I've seen many images on many different media projectors, and the Optima projector is just, well, flat.
The color lacks depth, leaving presentations lackluster and media showings sad.
When I contacted Optima customer support, their answer was "This is a data projector and it doesn't give true color." I don't need true color, but every other projector I've seen gives better color.
I'm not happy with it, but for now I'm stuck with it.
- We are promoters of a national/world level bicycle race. We have to give training programs to large numbers of public safety personnel and to hundreds of volunteers. The Optima EP 749 Multimedia Projector met all of our needs.
- I bought this projector at Best Buy in June of '07 for about $800. I used it to watch TV and movies, often in HD, and was comfortable with the picture quality that I got for the price. As other reviews have noted the color quality isn't great, but high quality HD sources look very good. Lower quality standard def sources don't always look so good, but most of the time they are good enough.
My family and I used it about 6 hours a week, on average. After 350 hours of use (as measured by the lamp hour meter in the projector) and 14 months into it's life, two months out of the manufacturers 1 year warranty, the projector quit working. It will not turn on (no lights, no fan, no indication that it is even getting power). It gave no indications of having trouble prior to this.
Because Optoma only warranties this projector for a year they sent me to a third party service company. This company charges $145 up front to look at the broken projector, $85 of which is non-refundable. The minimum repair charge is $145, plus parts and labor ($100/hour).
I am very careful with equipment and haven't done anything with this portable projector that would be considered unusual. It spent a year sitting on an open, well-ventilated shelf in my TV room, and took one trip in the car, carefully packed into the very nice carrier that it comes with. It worked fine for several weeks after that.
I calculate that it has cost about $2.25 per hour of viewing. When I pay for a movie to watch on it, it only costs about $1.75/hr.
If I buy another projector, it will not be an Optoma. They do not stand behind their products long enough.
