  1. We purchased the TV as a Christmas gift for my mother. The unit shipped quickly and in apparently good shape. It installed easily with the instructions included, too bad we didn't test it before we installed it. All of the features worked but the screen never produced a picture. We contacted the vendor on Christmas Eve and got a response within a few hours to send it back . . . and they paid for the return shipping! Long story-short . . . we got the replacement and the reinstall when fine. Mother is thrilled. . . Christmas saved!
The picture is fine for a 9" screen, takes a little longer than i like for it to warm up and the picture to clear up. The sound is nice and even has connectors for extra speakers. I hope this doesn't distract her while she is cooking . . . i think i smell something burning in the oven . . . got to go!

  2. product was defective when recieved.I sent it in to audiovox and now they want 95 dollars to repair!

  3. The unit functions well for tv viewing. However, the picture is only 7", although the screen is 9". Clear, crisp quality, especially when some feet away. Easy to read print on the screen. Easy to use remote or unit controls.
Using mine on the counter. CD playing is sporadic; haven't tried a DVD.
Overall, it fills the need for a kitchen tv.

  4. Product works well. I received it with no instruction booklet and had to dounload the booklet from the internet. The 9" screen would be just fine however the picture does not fill the screen which is a little disapointing.

  5. We got it up and running. It works fine, but I really need the instructions. It didn't come with any. My husband says not to ever buy used electronics, and I believe him.

  1. I'll put this here because I'm not subscribing to some goofy forum just to give a review, and all the Verizon Fios customers are trying to figure out what's up. They are giving these away free with their service bundle, but can tell you nothing, I mean nothing. They don't have to because people are willing to walk on coals to sign up. Straight scoop, picture is great on this tv. All the options in the world, so you have to mess with the setup a bit. Hint: choose picture option vivid. Fios is way good enough, standard without HD, on this 19". I say save your HD money for the big screen set. Hooked up Phillips 5982 DVD 1080i upconverter to this, $59. Way cool resolution and picture. Check out the reviews on that. Also, the sound truly is inadequate, but not a problem, because every 19" is way inadequate. No worries. It has a headphone mini jack output in the back. It also has optical audio out in the back, but that is way overkill for a 19". Back to the mini jack. Hooked up Cambridge Soundworks, $79, oh my my. You can hook up any PC speakers to this. Went direct, no additional volume control needed. You control the sound through your blaster. It cuts off the TV speakers, like you need those. Also, this TV has the same specs as the Aquos version, except no goofy magnetic remote control. Oh, yeah, use your Fios STB remote to run the TV, DVD and STB. It works great. Follow the insructions provided by Verizon on the remote control, make all the units turn off and on at the same time.

  2. Purchased at Circuit City at a great price but you get what you pay for.
1 month after the purchase the HDMI port no longer worked and 3 months later the set will not power up. The warranty is 90 days parts and labor and 1 year parts so in order to fix the set I will have to shell out more than I paid for it in labor costs. Currently pleading with support to pay for the labor since it's only 1 month out of warranty.

  3. When I finally received my free HDTV from Verizon (about three months after it was promised) I couldn't wait to try it out to see if it really worked. All I can say is WOW! Loaded with features, beautiful picture when used with FiOS, easy to use--well worth the wait.

The set fits in great where I wanted it to. It's not the biggest TV in the world (what do you expect for free?) but it's a great little set.

  1. this portable tv picks up reception seemingly everywhere. i received television stations that i am unable to obtain at my home.

  2. My comments are based on only one day of owning, but so far it appears to be comparable or better than any of the 2.5 in. handhelds on the market, for a very fair price. I knew nothing about this brand before, but they appear to be more or less dedicated to producing portable tvs and that shows in this model. The screen is of the latest active TFT design, not the less vibrant passive matrix design in the older handhelds. The screen, according to the packaging, is now at over 112000 dots which is amongst the highest resolution of any other handhelds. Picture quality is of course dependent on the signal strength, but with a good signal the picture is very watchable and even small print (e.g. stock tickers) are very readable. Color is good with a strong signal and the sound is very clear. Alkaline batteries seem to last for about 4 hours of continuos usage which is also in line with the current crop of portables. A car cord or ac adapter is a good idea for extended viewing with access to power.
For its intended purpose as a tv on the go it seems well suited. As far as long term reliability, I can't yet say. Nevertheless, if you're looking for a small handheld tv to supplement your recreation, this seems like a good choice, especially for its price.

  3. I purchased this tv with the hopes of having it as a back-up for a hurricane. I lost cable and began using it. The reception was terrible, but I was at least getting 2 stations. I just now went to use it again a few hours later and it is already broken. Aside from having terrible reception when it does work, it is also a worthless piece of junk Do yourself a favor and buy a better tv...one that actually works.

  4. I bought this tv as part of my "hurricane supplies" and was pleasantly surprised because initially, I was very suspicious since I'd never heard of the company and was leaning towards a casio. It has a clear picture, the sound is good, and it worked fine for the entire time I was without power. I think it is an excellent value.

  5. Just wanted you to know that i'm very pleased with my portable hand held tv. Its been around water, vibrations, the elements to a certain degree. I use it almost every day, i've enjoyed my tv for about a year and half now. Once i had the polarity crossed up and lost my screen. But the people their at action took care of the problem. If i were to buy another portable tv, i would proberly buy this one all over again. I forgot to mention that whenever my family and i go on vacations, we always carry it with us, we've played movies with it, it has the a/v jacks, i really like that part a lot. I'm sure if you are looking for a small tv this is what you are looking for, you just can't beat the price, i tried.... Have a great, and Safe week.

  1. I bought this on a whim for my bedroom, priced suspiciously under $300. Plugged it into HDTV cable box, and it has a groovy high-def picture and good stereo sound. Love it!

  1. Super bright at 3000 lumens. Fairly short-throw so you can be about 8-10 feet back from a typical screen. If you have used a projector with wimpy laptop sound, you will be impressed with the substantial output and decent quality sound on this unit. Multiple video/audio inputs with switching from the remote is a nice touch also. Well worth the extra $$!

  2. Three things stand out for me on why I first chose and why I am enjoying this projector. (1)3000 lumens at this price is pretty good. (2)A more powerful speaker which allows for presentations in a sizable audience without having to attach speakers - but if you want other speakers, there is a convenient minipin port. (3)A convenient volume control for that speaker on top - my last one was imbedded in the menu. Add to these the wide range of ports in and out (DVI!) and you can see that this is a power users machine at a modest price point.

  1. I'm confused, this tv is listed as having 16:9 aspect ratio on amazon, onecall where it came from and lg website. recieved tv yesterday and set up with comcast box and hdmi cable. set tv at 16:9 and it has black strips at top and bottom of pic. measured screen and did the math. tv actually has 16:10 aspect so i am sending it back as i can't watch hd tv with distorted figures." do all 22" 1680 by 1050 panels have this issue? also poor sound

  2. Easy to setup and easy to watch, the 22LG30 is an excellent buy for the price.

After purchasing this unit and receiving it, I had it wall-mounted and setup in almost no time.

The color and picture requires some tweaking (I had it set to 'warm', from the default 'cool' setting and also increased brightness a bit) and the audio as others have commented is weaker than what you'd hope to get (I improved the audio by increasing treble and bass to 100%, and setting the sound option to 'music' from the default). One thing I could not adjust as well was the black, which was not quite as black as I would like but better than what I expected (from an entry-level priced LCD TV).

Overall, I am quite happy with this purchase!

  3. Good picture, compact size (the frame is narrow so takes less space), has PC input that works fine, menus pretty nicely done, but has serious lip synching problems, doesn't fit picture to screen all that well (and yes it is 16:10 so images are slightly tall). Sound has weak frequency range and does sound tinny, however I used headphone jack to feed stereo audio output to my receiver and that feed sounds fine. As I write this, I'm thinking there has to be better model out there...sharp and Toshiba 22 inch displays were not yet available when I purchased this one, only other option was a Vizio, which I tried, but dark backgrounds had lots of noise.
