  1. One thing I have discovered is that you get what you pay for in a projector. We have 2 other projectors at our company that were $500 or less, and their quality is substantially less than this machine. I keep this particular unit in house since it performs so well. It has connected easily with several different brands of laptops, although I have not been able to get our one Apple I-Book to display properly. (Probably user error.) The fan is quiet, and the picture quality is excellent and easy to read on the screen or wall. The controls are easy to use, and the feet make it adjustable on most any table. I definitely would recommend this unit.

  1. I travel the country and do presentations under conditions that are frequently less than ideal for lighting. This small projector does well under these conditions. My previous projector was smaller but required very dark rooms to work well and this was not always possible for my clients to arrange. I also find the auto focus and keystone to be a great convenience. It is the best of the three projectors that I have owned.

  1. I bought this projector after agonizing over the decision for a month and convincing the wife to let me pull the trigger. I was replacing a very old VGA quality Sharp projector that I really disliked using because the picture quality was so bad.

I got the new projector and opened it up right away when I got it. This new projector was much smaller than the old one and was pretty light so it was easy to mount up on the ceiling. Being in Denver a mile high up MSL one of the first things I had to do was put the projector in high altitude mode which brings up the only real negative I have with this projector. In high light mode the fan can be very loud. In low mode its tolerable and still produces plenty of light in my theater room.

The picture quality of this projector feeding it a High Def signal is amazing. Discovery Channel and National Geo HD channels are my new best friends and even watching the HD versions of network shows and sports events are eye opening experiences. Even normal def signals look pretty good although obviously fuzzier on a 90" wide screen.

Light others I agree that the blacks could be blacker but really unless you are a big video person you probably won't notice. The color settings out of the box and although I've played with it a bit I'm partially color blnd so I'd probably make it worse. :<)

    Very happy with the purchase.

  2. Purchased to upgrade my existing home theater projector and am very happy with my choice. The picture is great for HDTV, DVD and Blu-Ray. Bottom line... EXCELLENT projector!

  3. PURCHASE YOUR EPSON PRODUCT THROUGH AN AUTHORIZED DEALER OR FROM EPSON DIRECTLY.

This is not a review of this product, but rather a word to the wise... Two and half months after my purchase of an Epson 10000XL scanner through Amazon, it stopped working. Through the followup and tech support process I learned that, because I purchased through Amazon, the manufacturer nor the seller would honor the 1 year warranty. Epson's position is that Amazon is not an authorized seller and that they merely act as broker for what can often be re-furbished or second hand merchandise.

So, should your purchase break or malfunction, as mine did, you are out of luck with regard to warranty.

    This lesson cost me $2400.00

  4. This projector worth every penny for the picture quality you get. It is not well known by public, maybe that is why it is such a bargain.

  5. I've done my fair of research and this is by far the best 1080p projector for the money. I've been using it with my blu-ray player and I highly recommend it. If you have any ambient light in the room and plan on watching it during the day get the "UB" version of this projector instead. It's a little bit more pricey but completely worth it. Even with a grey screen it was hard to watch this projector in my family room during the day without blacking out all the windows.

  1. It's a nice TV, beautiful I might say. In Emeril terms, the picture is BAM!, the aesthetic is BAM!, the features are BAM!

  2. Don't buy this TV. This company has NO customer service. I got my TV at the end of February, and it was working OK. The picture is quite pixalated and you have to remember that you get what u pay for.

It is April 12 and we have been trying for 3 days to get a call back from the company with regards to shipping the tv or getting someone in to service it. The unit has gone "wonky" it is stuck in an endless loop cycle and will not react to the remote nor the on/off button. HUGE MISTAKE, and my goal is to make sure no one else makes this mistake. I always read negative posts on the web and never believed them, but now being a victim of this crappy company, I feel I MUST take a stand on the matter.

  3. I was told when I purchased this television that it had great sound, but I didn't quite believe until I got it home.
Now I have it at home, the audio is awsome! Freiends who come by can't believe the sound is coming from the TV without a stereo.
The Hannspree Wing has a "powered sub-woofer out" and I'm planning on getting one so I can get that rumble people get with their 5.1 systems.
I can't say enough how much I enjoy using this television!
    -John

  4. I would look elsewhere if you are trying to find an entry level LCD. The picture color quality on this set was never accurate, especially in HD. CNet's review on this product confirms that this is a problem with this set. My set had a wiring problem several months in and after that steadily went downhill. I've since moved on and I would suggest you carefully weigh your options before pulling the trigger on this t.v.

  1. MY tv needed repair and i was told to shipped it to arkansas which cost me $46.I did on april 24. i receive a refub on mAY7.It worked for 5 min. i shipped it back may8. Philips did pay for the shipping but as of MAY 28 i am still waiting for a replacement.I was told they should know something by JUNE
1 I will never buy another philips product

  2. Great price for what you get, but the quality of hte product isn't all that great. The picture isn't as crisp and clear as you would expect. I thought the sound was fine. Overall if you have to pay more than $300 it's not a good deal.

  3. ORDERED PRODUCT, PAID FOR PRODUCT, RECEIVED PRODUCT PROMPTLY, PRODUCT FUNCTIONS AS ADVERTISED. WHAT ELSE CAN ONE ASK FOR?

  4. I bought this TV, sight unseen, with little research into LCD TVs or even into the HDTV technology.

I love my little TV. It has a great picture quality and the sound is incredible!

The remote is easy to use, and the weight of the TV itself is amazing. I can set this on a bookcase and not have to invest in a piece of furniture just for the TV. It's definitely a product I would recommend.

  5. I received this item as a shelf pull from a Big Box store, and immediately noticed the large sticker on the base telling me that it's only got an analog tuner so it won't be able to get an over air signal after Feb of whenever, so if you're looking for a digital tuner, look elsewhere.
Anyway, I agree with the others on the volume issue, it's rather loud at the 1 setting on the volume, especially when I'm trying to go to sleep, but it's not a deal breaker, and is easily adjusted by using the volume control on your input devices (you might be surprised to know that many cable boxes and DVD players have their own volume controls)
The picture is great, and it makes a more than appropriate bedroom TV, if you can tweak the volume controls a little.

  1. Bought this for kitchen HD.
Good: Nice HD picture. Fairly simple screen navigation
Bad: Horrible connectivity. All the ports are bunched up w/in millimeters of the other- to make matters worse its on the left-hand side.
Ugly: The HDMI connection. When switching between SD and HD sources using your HDMI cable-you will get a blue screen. You will need to cut the power to your source 1-4 times before finally arriving at a picture. I took the first back to BB and they said its something w/the encoding system for the HDMI connector. Hmmm funny, my Panasonic plasma doesn't have that problem.

Summary: its a nice set for a nice price if you can put up w/the maddening problem w/its HDMI switch.

Side bar: I've tried cheap-o HDMI cables and better-made cables and you'll be smart to use the better ones. Yes a digital signal is a digital signal-but brightness is a big issue w/the cheaper ones.

Bluejeans cable or monoprice cable is the way to go.

  2. I've had this TV/Monitor for about a month, and I've been very happy with it.

The TV works/looks great. Nice remote, easy controls, etc. etc.

As a computer monitor, it is FANTASTIC. The built-in speakers means that I don't need other items cluttering up my desktop. Image is very sharp.

  3. Pros:
+ Great image quality (HDTV quality), screen also coated with anti-reflective coating (which means that it doesn't reflect light from the background that much, & thus you the screen is not that shiny)
+ Many ports (HDMI, VGA etc), can be used as a computer screen
    + Ultra portable
+ DTV, no digital to analog converter required (Feb 17, 2009 transition to DTV in the USA).
+ Really good for its price
+ Setting up very easy (I also find using its remote control very easy : for eg, while watching DTV, I can change the language, include closed captioning, and check the programming guide.
+ Included in the box: VGA cable to connect this TV to your computer and another one to transfer sound from your computer to the TV speakers. I use my laptop as a DVD player with this TV.

    Cons:
    - Found only one: I don't find the sound quality that superb. To my ears, the sound sounds as if it is coming from a pair of sound blasters enclosed within a box that is partly open. That is, the sound is kind of muffled - my laptop sound blasters output a much better sound than this HDTV. However, you can always attach your own sound system to this TV to get a better sound.

  4. this is a great hdtv and i can hook it up to my pc to this is great for the money must buy!!!

  5. On the positive side: the image is excellent, the system supports a multitude of inputs, the analog tuner works perfectly.

On the negative side: the QAM tuner and the computer that selects the detected stations via the remote are flawed. I connected this TV to my cable without the cable box to watch the clear-QAM digital stations from my cable provider. Autoscan found all of them. But trying to use the remote to select the detected channels are so frustrating that I just stopped trying to use the digital tuner. As I installed two of these TVs and both had the identical problems, I suspect that there is a serious design flaw.

If your purpose for this TV is as a PC monitor, for connection to an antenna, for connection to a DVD or for connection to a cable box (either using the analog output [which makes no sense] or using the digital connections) this might be very acceptable. However, if your application is to use the TV to tune QAM signals, this is not the TV for you.

Westinghouse's tech support was so poorly trained that they did not even know what a QAM tuner was for.

    Have returned mine. Proceed corefully.

  1. I am on the third TV now and just called Lilliput and they ar going to replace it agian this time I don't have to pay to ship it back THEY ARE. I just hope the next one works right because it has a great picture a lots of extra's.I use it here at the computer desk to watch TV and two securty camera's.First one had almost no sound and a bad ear phone jack. Secound one The Color went out.Third one you could not stop sound It would go all the way up or down with stoping when useing remote control than last night the remote stoped working all toghter.

  2. Does this take batteries? Does anyone know?
Please reply at kiddo7@comcast.net or you can reply from this product.

  3. There is a surprising lack of small flat-screen TV's suitable for mounting under kitchen cupboards. This TV is one of the few available.

I got the 9" instead of the 8" model, but I'm told they are substantially similar other than the size. The screen has no dead pixels and gives good image quality once you adjust the video controls (especially by turning down the color intensity).

The sound quality of the (approximately) 2" speaker is very tinny. But this was easy to fix by buying a cheap pair of self-powered computer speakers and plugging them into the earphone jack.

As the instructions advise, the TV tuner is not USA-standard. You get all the cable TV channels, but the numbers are different from what you're used to. This is a minor nuisance, solvable by making a chart of the channels you're interested in.

To sum up, this is a nice little TV. There are some minor problems, but they all have acceptable workarounds. Given the lack of alternative products, I'm really glad that this TV was available.

The company that produced this TV is called "Lilliput." It seems likely to me that this TV is an early attempt at a small home TV for the US market, and that Lilliput's future offerings will improve in US compatibility.

  1. The tv arrived great and in a timely manner. It is great and my daughter loves it! A+++

  2. dvd player broke after a few uses- got stuck and had to pry open with a knife, now, less than a year later, dvd player still only works occasionally

  3. I gave this tv/dvd player to my grandson and he and his parents love it. It has given his parents a little time in the evening to enjoy their own programs and he knows how to start his videos by himself.

  4. I bought this for my son's birthday in December. From the beginning, it had trouble playing DVDs - new ones at that. It would take several tries at loading them before they would finally play. Only a month after I bought it, it began not playing some DVDs at all, until finally, seven months later, it won't play any at all. This was a complete waste of money.

  5. I have had this TV for almost 2 years now and it has a wonderful picture, as well as great sound quality for such a little TV. It is very cute, and most importantly to me...stable when placed on a table (which I cannot say for most other character TV's). The good things stop there. This really shouldn't be considered a DVD/TV combo as the DVD player rarely works...and I usually give up before getting it to work. I have learned to live without that and just enjoyed the TV itself until a few days ago when the remote was misplaced. You absolutely CANNOT use any universal remote controls with this TV as NONE of the codes work. Good luck finding another on the internet as you could do with any other TV. I have heard you can get one directly from Emerson for like $30 plus another $10 for shipping (haven't spoken w/ them yet to be sure as I just sit on hold forever and gave up). $40 for another remote is insane and I will live without it for that...but since the TV changes channels soooooooooo slowly, it is now kinda useless and just sits on the table looking cute. Invest your money in another product NOT made by Emerson.

  1. I bought the this item as a gift. Setup is extremely easy. Bought also Logitech Z-4I 2.1 Speaker System and a Philips DVP5960 DVD Player with HDMI, 1080i Upscaling, DivX Ultra, USB direct. The three products make up a great system at a reasonable price. First movie watched was Pirates of the Caribbean III and saw colors and details that were amazing.

The only reason I do not give a 5 star is:
The optimal viewing angle is very limited...about straight on.
The external speakers is connected throught the earphone jack. When the unit is powered cycled, sometimes it stays that way, other times you have to reset the earphone jack to get sound over the external speakers.

  2. I just needed a flat panel television in white to fit a particular space in my house. I don't really watch it too often. It's okay I guess.

  3. I recently purchased this TV for my wife's birthday. The white color fit beautifully in the bedroom. It was very easy to set up and she loves it. I searched various places on the internet, and this was the best price I could find. I was told it would be shipped and get here a day before her birthday, but I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived a day earlier. Amazon is number 1 in my book. "Thanks"-Rod

  4. Pros: It's white, looks nice, fits in with decor in kitchen, menu is decent (something most people don't consider until you get a TV with a really bad one like the TV this one is replacing), auto search channels worked well (did not work well on previous), small form factor, cost

Cons: It's horrible at its primary function - displaying a decent image, both analog and HD are horrible compared to others in this class, imo. Takes forever to turn on for some reason. Cheesy blue light was broken on mine and showed white (this can be disabled),

Compared to other sets in this size, I find the PQ to be awful. Very disappointed, and might even try to sell it.

If you have never had HDTV before, you will probably be impressed by the image (maybe explains the good reviews), but if you are familiar with what HD should look like, I recommend you look at a Sony or maybe a Sharp in this size. Maybe Panasonic, not sure who makes the small ones well. I tried to go the cheap route, instead of pony up for a Sony, but I guess I got burned this time. Was really surprised considering how generally high quality (image quality wise) their LCD monitors are. I also could just have a really crummy sample, who knows.

Anyway, spend the extra $75-$100 and get something else.

  5. I purchased this tv to use with my new xbox 360.I never intended to use it as a television. After reading the 1 star review about what a lousy picture it had i had a lot of concerns.I made the mistake of trying it out in the bed room as a tv before hooking it up to the xbox in the study.I just wanted to see what kind of picture it had.BIG MISTAKE after my wife got a load of that picture no way was she letting it go anywhere.I have a 27in LCD and a 57in CRT both hooked up to Dish network and thy both have a beautifull picture.I hooked this one up to a regular antenna and it has as good or better picture than thy have.True the analoge reception is not that great but for ever analoge channel there is a Digital channel and thy are wonderfull. The person that gave it the 1 star might have just got a bad set or didn't have it hooked up right. The only thing I can say bad is that now I have to sit on the foot bench in the bedroom to play my games instead of a easy chair in the study.
