- This TV is fabulous. Awesome picture, awesome sound. Looks great too!
LCD screen is a great improvement as lights/windows don't show up in it like a normal tv. Couldn't beat the price when I purchased with free shipping and no tax. Quite a bargain. [[ASIN:B000OCQ4PY JVC LT-42E488 42" 720p Flat Panel LCD HDTV]
- We purchased this JVC 42" to use as a bedroom television. Delivery was on time and the product arrived with no damage. Initial power on showed no dead pixels or any obvious problems. Black levels are not as good as my new Samsung but black levels were certainly acceptable. I did notice some "ghosting" on the sides during a completely black transition (e.g. during a break from a commercial or dead air time). However, the ghosting was not apparent during normal television viewing. Sound quality is good and has plenty of volume for noisy areas. The unit takes about 10-15 seconds to power up when initially turned on, which is normal. This JVC delivers better picture quality on standard definition television programming but since it is 720p, it obviously cannot compare to some of the newer 1080p sets when viewing true HD content.
Overall, if you're looking for a reasonably priced flat panel as a second unit, this is a good buy. I shopped the $600-$1400 price range and at $799, this was a good buy.
- This 42" LCD HD TV seems to be a great product, although I really cant tell about the picture clearity right now as I dont have HD, just digital satalite. But is easy to operate, looks great and has a bright picture.
- We had this TV for 5 months. The best feature was the USB reader that we could use to see pictures without hooking up the camera. However, the USB reader was broken in the 2nd week. We can't use it anymore. The picture quality is very good with DVD. We hook up the TV to cable and have the basic HD channels. The picture quality on the HD channels are good, but not excellent. We can see the dots on the screen. We were comparing the JVC with the Toshiba Regza. The Toshiba had better picture quality, better contrast. The only thing I didn't like about the Toshiba is the shiny frame. And JVC has matt finish. This set also doesn't have a Contrast selection. Overall JVC is a good TV since JVC is a part of Panasonic.

5 comments about Sharp LC-26D4U AQUOS 26-Inch Flat Panel LCD HDTV.
- As I recall, our 26" AQUOS did have a gorgeous image for the first four months....August through November 2006. I haven't seen it in 6 weeks so it is hard to be enthusiastic. By December 13th, our AQUOS was in the shop --waiting for part after "reconditioned" part from Sharp. We spoke with Emily, Andre, Jordan, Patrick, Tammy, Cindy, Jamie, Serena, Angie, Ray,Lynelle, and Clarice's voice mail at the Sharp Service Center in Romeoville, IL.. We then sent two faxes. Two weeks ago, we were promised a replacement tv -- which we later learned will be a "reconditioned" set. We are about to pick that set up. We received no compensation and only the most glib apology.
I am not sure what other warantees say, but I urge you to read the Sharp warranty with great care. Their service staff were friendly, but would not give us the name of a manager to contact for a month.
- This is a wonderful TV. I had no problem setting it up and it fit beautifully into my TV cabinet. The picture is terrific and the controls are easy to understand. I would buy another one in a minute.
- I purchased this item in June of 2006. In August of 2007 -- 2 months after the warrantee ran out -- the sound went out. Do not recommend.
- It's been a year and 8 months since I bought this set and the sound went out. It was sort of off and on and I thought it was my cable box but noooooooo.... and it's going to run $600 to fix it. Not worth it at all.
- This set was great up until this week and suddenly the sound went out. My second Sharp TV set to have problems this week. Guess I angered the Sharp Gods.

1 comments about Hitachi 57F59 57-Inch Digital Projection HDTV.
- The Hitachi 57" set has a great picture and all the bells and whistles. But the HDMI input has shown some glitches. Using HDMI to connect my Motorola cable box to the set works fine most of the time. But sometimes the picture will suddenly change color saturation, or it will go all green or all blue. Once in a while it will go all bright white and then the set will turn itself off! I don't see these problems with the component video inputs. I know that HDMI still has some interoperability issues, so I can't say for sure if the problems are in the set or the cable box or both.

- Excellent Picture and sound, has vga input works great as a Computer Monitor, but much better as a tv, has HDMI input for Playstation, RCA and component for blue Ray or DVD connection, My only great is that I did not buy more of them. The audio is great, has controls in the menu for treble bass, you can really hear the sound separation.

5 comments about JVC LT40X887 40-Inch Flat Panel LCD TV.
- I got this TV for Christmas this year and it's amazing. The picture is incredibly clear, and as the previous poster stated, the setup was extremely simple. Watching TV is an experience on this model. I love it.
- I bought the 37" version (LT37X887) but I believe my comments are totally relevant to the 40" version. The picture, as the other viewers point out, is superb! Sound is very good. It's New Year's day and we had a party New Year's Eve with 22 adults. Almost all commented on how crisp and detailed the picture looked in HD. This includes my son who went for the 50" Pioneer plasma and my neighbor who has the 37" plasma from Panasonic. My son can't believe it's an LCD, the picture being so crisp and clear. No apparrent problems with "black detail" or blurring with fast action scenes. On Christmas Eve, we had the burning yule log on the screen with just music playing. When my wife first saw it, she thought we had a fire in the living room.
Makes you wonder about all the discussion of Plasma versus LCD!
- LCD? Plasma? DLP? 1080p? After 4 months of driving myself crazy researching HDTVs, I'm happy to say I settled on the JVC 40x887. Reason #1: I've never had a problem with the numerous JVC products I've owned over the years. I cannot say enough about the beauty of this set, on or off! The SD picture is much better than I expected. The 770p HD picture is rich and punchy. I sit there in awe every time I'm in front of it:-)
Reason #2: Apparently, JVC doesn't market their line of televisions nearly as much as the other guys and the way I see it, that's more money to pour into quality. You will likely struggle to find this model on the floor but when you do, you'll see what I mean! The unit contains a Sammy panel, same one in the Sonys.
I decided to skip plasma and DLP because of flaws I deemed impossible to overcome. Burn-in, break-in periods, screen glare, changing $300 bulbs, black grass, rainbows, who needs that stuff!?! I passed on 1080p because you basically have to be a superfreak to tell the difference. I'll take the money I saved and plop it down on a new Oppo dvd player, thank you very much.
This HDTV can be had for several hundred less than comparable LCDs and I STRONGLY suggest giving it the time it deserves before pulling the trigger on your new LCD. One more thing not to be overlooked: JVC HDTVs have D.I.S.T. (Digital Image Scaling Technology)with GENESSA Picture Processing which make them one of the few to pass the 3/2 and deinterlacing tests...

- Pro: The picture & sound are great.
Con: when you change the channel in HD mode, you have to wait for that channel comes on before you can jump to the next one. For example: change channel 2 to 4, you have to wait for 4 comes before you can move to 5, 6 etc.
- I was first extremely attracted to the sexy, elegant and understated looks of this LCD TV but the rest seemed to have one important better feature... the higher contrast ratio. Until one day I saw it at Best Buy next to a super expensive LCD TV, famous brand name and they were both side by side playing the same program when I noticed blacks and grays looked exactly the same on both televisions. It seems JVC LCD tv's have an extra feature to boost blacks that is not accounted for only in the contrast ratio numbers. I WAS SOLD! After taking it home I only found a lot more to like about this tv. It has become my new computer monitor since, dvi to hdmi (computer to tv hdmi) yields an AMAZING picture... no you can't see any pixels not even if you get as close as possible, at least not with windows vista and GeForce 8, you even get the post (computer startup before logon and bios settings)! Another EXCELLENT feature I haven't seen on any other LCD TV of this size is the capability to pivot it side to side and having the circular design in the front it never seems out of square even if it's facing towards one side. The settings are endless and I'll stop here or I'll never finish. All I can say is you'll never regret this purchase!
