  1. I recently went out on a quest to find a HDTV with 1080p, I have two projection screens (Mitsubushis) which are 1080i, but I bought a PS3 and wanted the awesome graphics. I reviewed several TVs to include Sony, Vizio, Samsung, Pioneer, Westinghouse and Proscan (RCA). I came across the Proscan 42" at Sears and was able to compare with the other TVs, pretty much side by side. This TV, especially for the price, outdid its competition hands down. My other major consideration was the Samsung. I, at present time, have no surround sound so sound quality of the built in speakers was something that I considered. The sound quality was better on the Proscan. The picture is incredible, 2 HDMI ports, VGA port, component video jacks, and an audio optical port. In parting, the Samsung was $1800 (40") and the Proscan (42") was $949. I highly recommend this sleek looking, inexpesive LCD TV to those that want all the bells and whistles with out the price tag shock.

  2. I went to sears and compared this tv to the others that were there and for the price, it cant be beat. The only tv's that were close were the Samsung and the Sony Bravia. I definately cannot afford the sony or the samsung. This tv compared side by side to everything else, was brighter, had better sound quality, the black was black.

The only downfall in the infrared for the remote. You pretty much have to be directly infront of it for it to register.

  3. I'd never even heard of Proscan until I went shopping for a new tv for my new apartment. Every single time I have a guest over or someone sees this tv on they will say what an awesome picture and sound it has. I love to watch movies. When the movies are over I feel like I've been to the theatre. I'm so happy I made the right choice!

  1. I am a motivational speaker and speak in many different locations. I wanted a relatively light projector to take on the road with me. The ultra-small units seemed to have some quality control issues. I chose this unit because of simplicity of operation, ease of use, and a strong enough light to work in larger rooms with lights on. It has done everything that I needed. Interestingly I was presenting in a room where the main projector failed and after I swapped projectors and used this unit the audience remarked, "that is both brighter and much clearer". The bottom line for me is that it is compact, easy to use, bright, and comes in its own carrying case that in turn fits easily into my small carry on wheeled luggage bag.

  2. When I received this item it did not have the power cord. I contacted the company that shipped it and was told they do not have spare parts, but I could contact Optoma. After doing so, the only response I received was that someone from customer service would contact me in 24-48 hours, and I was never contacted. I tried three times to get the power cord with no luck. I was given the opportunity to return the projector, but decided to keep it becuase I had spent so much time researching the item and it works great! I would recommend the projector to anyone, but beware if you do not receive everything that is listed.

  1. This plasma TV sold under the little-known Akai name is actually a rebranded, old-generation plasma screen made by south korea's Samsumg, which still has a reputation for questionable quality control. The buttons on the display unit I played with felt loose and unresponsive, and the picture quality was very disappointing. Anything darker than 50% gray became indistinuishable, and colors are washed out and unpleasant. To me it's incredible this unit costs so much more than superior offerings from Gateway and Viewsonic.

  2. Having owned a competitors plasma in the past, I must say the AKAI definitely outshines it. I went a local retailer and compared picture quality. The AKAI stood out to a point where I thought it might even be high definition. The picture is extremely bright and clear and I am very happy with my purchase.
