- First, the Price Alert.... Best Buy will sell this set right now for $1759 !
Just ordered one this morning, base on previous model reviews and the addition of 3D capability. (and I'm surprised the Amazon price is so high!)
The salesperson at Best Buy stated that these are on "discontinued status" already. Apparently they are not selling enough of the BIG sets. They will continue to stock for the next several months!
- This product more than met my expectations. I'm not a techno-file, but I think the picture is excellent. Color is great and the HD feed from my satellite looks awesome. The sound is a little lacking, but not enough for a four star rating. Games and Blu-Ray movies from my PS3 are almost unbelievable. It takes up a little more space than a plasma or LED, but the HUGE price savings make the little bit of lost space worth it. I would have paid 3X for a comparable plasma.

5 comments about LG 37LG50 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV.
- We really like the LG TV. The swivel stand is great for our use. It was easy to set up. The only negative thing is that the plastic sides & top of the TV glare. The screen does not, but why have the sides and top shine and reflect room or outside light?
- I did many weeks' worth of research online regarding HDTVs, since I was in the market for one. I have had this TV for a few weeks now and the quality is nothing short of absolutely fantastic. I bought a PS3 right around the same time and playing video games and viewing Blu-Ray movies is just spectacular. In the evening, if there are no lights on except for the TV, it's better than being at the movie theater!
I bought the 37" because with all the features included with it (and it supporting 1080p), the price really couldn't be beat. That and when I was at the store comparing them, it just looked more brilliant and bright compared to the similar Samsung 37" right beside it (plus it was $200 cheaper). When I took it back to my apartment, I was blown away by how large it really is; they don't look so large in-store when they're near the 46" and 52" TVs!
Setup is pretty simple. Didn't take too long, though the screws for the base of the TV stand are set a bit deep, so it was a little tough to fully tighten them in. Something else that left a bit more to be desired is the sound. If you don't have a home theater system already (which I don't), you may be cranking the volume up more than you normally would.
All in all, this HDTV is incredible. Be sure you do your research, but I doubt you'll be disappointed with this one!
- I looked at the Scarlet series but for the price this was a great value. I really like the clear voice feature - it makes a big difference. Easy installation. I would rather have a matte surround because the glossy reflects light. The HD is fabulous! I would definitely recommend to friends.
- While I didn't buy it via Amazon (sorry Amazon people), I purchased through a brick-and-mortar strictly because I haven't converted to making big purchases online. I bought this thing for two reasons:
1. I hadn't had a TV for over a year, I was overdue.
2. Picture quality. I searched high and low and stared at many, many HDTVs, in so many different stores, so much so that my eyes hurt. This was the best one (within the size I was looking for, 32-37" as this is what space I had/have allocated in my apartment). Picture clarity is key! That's the whole point of HD, correct?
So, first thing's first, I received a dud. Yes, a dud. It was working no more than a day before the brain of the TV just died on me (don't ask for technical terms, it's the part that makes the screen display a moving picture as opposed to lines moving across the screen). I don't know if anyone else ran into this problem, but it was a tad annoying. I do believe, however, based on many other reviews, that I was the unlucky one to receive a defective one.
The part was replaced, and now it's all good :). Clarity is there, haven't had any problems since (I'm on month three), and did I mention I love it?
Downside: don't sit too close, your eyes will definitely hurt. Quality is just that sharp--at least on HD channels.
Oh how I cannot wait until Feb '09 rolls around when the rest of the channels hop on board. My life will be very close to complete :).
- The service was great. I had originally ordered from another vendor, but they were out of stock for weeks. I cancelled my order and ordered here. The service was very fast and the TV is fantastic! Friends and relatives are very impressed with this TV!

- Folks, this is a great TV. By spending few hundred dollars more, you will get the best from Panasonic. Here is why I would recommend you to buy it:
1) Great sound. It has 4 speakers and a subwoofer which makes it a unique set as compared to other panasonic plasma TVs except for TH-PZ800U which I believe also has same number of speakers. With this TV you wont need an external surround sound system.
2) Viera Cast Feature- I just love the new web interface introduced in this particular model.
a)Download all your digital pictures at Picasa Web Album and watch it on big screen TV with a sweet background score as you watch the slide show. Share your pictures with your guests at home on big screen.
B) Watch U tube videos on big screen. Its so much fun.
c) Watch Bloomberg updates on your TV.
d) Panasonic is currently working to add more.
3) AVCHD compatible for 1080p video camcorders
4) Picture quality is extremely good with Native contrast ratio 30,000:1 and Dynamic Contrast Ratio of 1,000,000:1 this is the highest contrast ratio available in the current market on a plasma TV.
If you can afford to pay few hundred dollars more, you get the best technology out there from Panasonic.
- It was easy to set up, even though I am just using it as a monitor it has a great picture plus it looks great in our room. We used the SD slot and software to show a group of our family pictures from our vacation. i am using the SD slot to have a screensaver of my choice.
- My television arrived on schedule and the delivery service (yellow truck) was courteous and helpful.
- Excellent price/delivery from Vanns/Yellow freight. Great TV, games and movies via PS3 amazing, sound is so good that I won't be buying a theater system anytime soon. Standard TV is ok too, better then I expected eventhough I'm less then 8ft away. Glare is somewhat of an issue during the day and night viewing with lights on, but it's ok and I will get used to it. Viera cast is easy to setup and have been using it to check the weather and look at u-tube videos. All in all perfect so far.
I also want to comment on Vanns excellent customer service. I placed the order on 09/02/08 and it was delivered on the 8th. During that time Vanns dropped the price a couple of times, a quick email to them and they promptly credited my amazon CC. I thought that was pretty classy.

- Yes I use this gaming TV as a monitor with Vista. I use this to: browse the web, watch DVD movies and play video games. My video card does 1660x1050 and this monitor can do 1900x1200 at 85Hertz. It took a little fussing to get this to work properly but I'm satisfied with the picture. Web browsing is acceptable. I notice a difference between running it at 60Htz and 75Htz which is the best my video card can do. I think I'll upgrade the card soon. Movies are great!!! The quality of the picture is great. Games I have to say are mediorce. There is a gaming mode which has a low latency refresh rate. I used this with Age of Empires 3. I didnt notice a difference between gaming and regular mode but then again the game is not that graphic intensive. I got this for 1300.00 which I consider a fair price. This is my first HDTV so I wanted to low ball a smaller size before I get a larger size. With 1080p this will remain i my house for a long time. I'm finding that the new LCD HDTV's coming out, improve the refresh rates to 120 hertz which upgrades the picture quality remarkably. All in all this was a good investment for the price.
- My husband and I extensively researched the field before making the leap to HDTV. I looked at the reviews from Consumer Reports and He wanted a TV that he could plug his laptap into for programming and watching downloaded movies. This is a beautiful set that meets our needs.
- The main selling point for this TV is a lag-free gaming TV. And guess what? It's just that, lag free! In extremely time-sensitive games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero, you can play these games with zero calibration out-of-the-box, no matter which input or screen resolution you use. It even supports 1080p with Component, a big plus for us Xbox 360 users that don't have an Elite.
Picture quality is good, sound quality is good, and everything else about the TV is good. The only thing is that you only have one HDMI and one Component port for the "Vyper Drive", so you should consider an HDMI, Component, and/or Composite video switch if you have multiple consoles. The other inputs are fine for your non-gaming needs such as DVD players and such.
Well worth the money if you're a serious gamer.
- This is my second LCD HDTV to use with my HTPC for games/movies/web browsing/etc. I upgraded to this set for the 1080p resolution. My previous Samsung LCD also had dead pixels... this one had none!
While 1920x1080 resolution is a beautiful thing, you MUST tweak the settings after hooking it up to your PC.
First, press "View mode" on your remote and enable "Dot By Dot." This will eliminate overscan and fuzzy text.
You'll also want to decrease the sharpness, unless you enjoy looking at JPEG compression artifacts. Hit "MENU" and change it to -5 for optimal viewing.
I also recommend flipping open the bottom portion of the remote and using "GAME" AV MODE... it's much easier on the eyes when you're sitting right in front of it.
This LCD is a solid buy and I am not disappointed.
- This TV is wonderful. The picture is so clean and sharp. It is a very good investment. I also have a 42-inch and a 32-inch HDTV Sharp LCD 1080p
Very easy to install, and packaged very well

- I tried to get this item elsewhere for a similar price, and waited weeks before finding out that they didn't even have it, and couldn't sell it anymore. This I had to pry out of them with constant inquiries as to what happened with my order. Contrariwise, Amazon had the product for about the same price, and gave me FREE shipping. The order came within a reasonable time, and I was informed as to the status of my shipment the entire time without needing to inquire. The item was packed very professionally and safely. Now I can use my projector again and I'm very happy, especially considering what I went through with the other company.
-
Excellent pricing and service to go with that pricing.

- This is my first HDTV. I bought this TV to replace my old SDTV and my fairly new dell monitor. The game options also peaked my interest. As a computer monitor it has met all expectations. I have large space to work with and everything looks great. I haven't played many games yet but I haven't seen any ghosting in TF2, Vampire: TM, or Audiosurf. Be sure to set the view mode to Dot to Dot when using this as a monitor, it looks best that way.
I have my WII, PS3, and PS2 hooked up also. WII and PS2 games look just as good as they did on the SDTV. I am only using the PS3 as bluray player/dvd upscaler at the moment. Bluray looks great and DVDs look a lot better than they did on SDTV.
Over the air HD looks great. SD over cable looks good to unwatchable depending on which channel I watching. Unfortunately the channels I want most are not offered in HD yet by comcast. The scifi channel is extremely bad and is the channel I care about the most. I might cancel my cable until they have HD for it. There is no SD channel that looks better than it did on my SDTV. You will want to keep this in mind if you are watching mostly SD.
The best thing about this TV is it has inputs up the wazzu. No need to buy a $50 to $100 hdmi switch box with this tv. Note also the component inputs are 1080p as well.
The bad thing about this monitor is that there is no DVI input. I am using a dvi to hdmi cable for the computer. This is the only way to get the resolution I want. Another poor point is the way you change inputs. They way it is setup makes using a universal remote hard. They didn't include a separate button for each input. Instead you have the cycle through to the one you want. There is no way for a universal remote to know which input you are currently on so you can not setup a macro to switch to different devices because the remote will never know how long to cycle through inputs to get to the device you want. If each button input had a button assigned to it using a universal remote would be easy. Minor problem but enough to take off a star for me.
One more thing that is bad about this tv. There is no Picture in Picture or Picture Beside Picture. Given all they packed into this TV I find this odd to leave off.
Even with the problems I think this is a great TV. No ghosting or banding. No dead pixels. Just the right sized for my small apartment. Not perfect but darn close.
- The only drawback is high price, but SHARP LC-32GP3U has the best picture and sound quality of any 32" LCD TV currently on the market. 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution works great as PC monitor using DVI-to-HDMI cable. Very slick design. No regrets.
- This is my first and only HDTV. I do have to say it is by far the best I have ever owned. I normally buy high end TV's and this is certainly one. Picture quality is great, and the user friendliness is easy.
- Sharps AQUOS LC32GP3U exceeded all my expectations. After an intense education process about HD TV's. I knew I wanted a good picture (even with an antenna only) along with enough hookups and choice in hookups for my VHS, DVD, Games, etc.. Sharp really accommodated my main concerns without buying added equipment or cables for what I already had. This LCD really accommodates every hook up possible except DVI, the newer upgrade to HDMIx3 was not needed for my use because I'm not using this as a computer monitor. The ability to hook this up to a computer and use it for on-line use was also an appealing option. The swiveling base as also a nice feature as well as the slim design and extra side hookups for easy access for games camcorders etc. From the moment I pulled this out of the box to full set up it took less than twenty minutes. Very easy to work and I didn't need to rely on the manual or a professional to install my TV, as a single female I didn't need a strong man to pick it up for me either. I highly recommend this TV and may even purchase another one for my sons games. The only draw back is watching VHS, which is not set up for HD quality. Even liked the analog stations, but not as well as the HD. I am not disappointed at all.
- Excellent product with good sound from the speakers in front. The LCD has the ability to recognise the active port and is capable of displaying PS3 games in 720p & 1080p when connected via HDMI. The regular DVD's also have better clarity and sound.
A good product for a person wishing to operate a gaming system on, highly recommended.
