- As I recall, our 26" AQUOS did have a gorgeous image for the first four months....August through November 2006. I haven't seen it in 6 weeks so it is hard to be enthusiastic. By December 13th, our AQUOS was in the shop --waiting for part after "reconditioned" part from Sharp. We spoke with Emily, Andre, Jordan, Patrick, Tammy, Cindy, Jamie, Serena, Angie, Ray,Lynelle, and Clarice's voice mail at the Sharp Service Center in Romeoville, IL.. We then sent two faxes. Two weeks ago, we were promised a replacement tv -- which we later learned will be a "reconditioned" set. We are about to pick that set up. We received no compensation and only the most glib apology.
I am not sure what other warantees say, but I urge you to read the Sharp warranty with great care. Their service staff were friendly, but would not give us the name of a manager to contact for a month.
- This is a wonderful TV. I had no problem setting it up and it fit beautifully into my TV cabinet. The picture is terrific and the controls are easy to understand. I would buy another one in a minute.
- I purchased this item in June of 2006. In August of 2007 -- 2 months after the warrantee ran out -- the sound went out. Do not recommend.
- It's been a year and 8 months since I bought this set and the sound went out. It was sort of off and on and I thought it was my cable box but noooooooo.... and it's going to run $600 to fix it. Not worth it at all.
- This set was great up until this week and suddenly the sound went out. My second Sharp TV set to have problems this week. Guess I angered the Sharp Gods.

- This LCD TV is awesome. Speakers mounted under the screen mean it will fit into a tighter space than a TV with side mounted speakers. The glass screen with its special coating make the picture brilliant and eye popping. Reflections are only slightly more than a regular LCD screen and not a problem. It also has a HD TV tuner built in, so you can get the over the air HD TV programing.
I would recommend this to anyone. It is the best Syntax Olevia TV I have seen and I already own a 27" & 37" Olevia TV.
Some complain about the remote & speakers, but the remote is better than my other Olevia TVs and I find the sound from the speakers to be very good to excellent.
- I love the TV when it is working. It has a great picture and sound. My tuner went 2 months ago and I spoke with CS. They shipped the parts and I changed them, I had power supply issues now. They sent more parts and then the in house repairman. The TV still has the same problems. I placed a complaint with the BBB after the first month was over and no response from them.
CS is horrible and no one gets back to you. I finally received a replacement TV, the shipped it by truck from CA to NY, received it broken. You have to wonder if they shipped me a broken one because of the complaint I made to the BBB.
It's been a week since the 2nd one arrived and no phone calls from them. I had to re-do the paperwork and re-give a credit card to place a hold so they can send a new TV. As of today 2 months later I still have no TV and a warranty that is running out soon.
Beware if you have problems you are in for a long hard trip with their CS. No one ever calls you back. Getting a someone to answer the phone will take about 30 minutes, you will get hung up on. BBB is also waiting for them to respond after 3+ weeks into the complaint.
- First look at the reviews for support issues most are newer since TV's work fine... for a while.
I have purchased 4 Olevia TV's (from 27" to 42") and until recently I would have recommended them to anyone. First there was slow rebates, but I was aware of that problem when I made the purchase. Then it came time for service, and my experience was the same as recent reviews. They are very nice and promise to take care of everything... DON'T BET THE FARM. Just like others have said here, they say parts will be shipped (in my case on the 3rd) then a week or two later you'll find out that parts haven't shipped, or on back order. BIG HINT: If the manufacture of a product has major components on back order, your's is not the only one broke.
I've bought 4, but Olevia has got the last dollar from me and if you're smart they wouldn't get your first one. I think some retailers like Office Depot and HSN have dropped the line and just selling off stock.
DO NOT BUY! You have been warned.
- Low on cash? Want to save some money? Want a decent LCD that will satisfy your input/output needs? Look no more because the Syntax Olevia LT42HVi 42" HD-Ready Flat-Panel LCD TV will do just that.
Pros: Lots of inputs including 2 HDMI 1.2 interconnect (HDMI 1.2 version was confirmed by Syntax customer support). Excellent design and user friendly. Affordable price. The HDMI video quality is excellent. Make sure you get a DVD upconverter or HD/Blu Ray DVD Player, or a cable receiver with HD broadcasting.
Cons: Bad remote, you have to literally point at the corner of the screen to get a signal. Glass in front of the LCD is highly reflective and will impair your viewing pleasures. Resolution only goes up to 1080i. Display for Composite connections are horrible. Video quality from a VCR even turned out better. No toslink (digital) or Coaxial audio interconnect.
Overall performance from personal experience: not bad for the buck especially if you want to save. Enough bells and whistles to last you for awhile.
NEW COMMENT:
For PS3 users, if you receive the green screen of death when loading a game, turn off your TV, then turn on the TV again. That should clear up the problem. This problem only exists with the PS3 menu and game play, but not for blu ray dvd's. I am not sure why it does this. I will be receiving brand HDMI cables (v1.3) in the mail to see if it does the same problem. I will keep you folks posted.
- i would give this company zero star's if i could... got a tv from them that broke with in 6 month's. got a new one wit the warranty and they put the rest of the existing warranty on it....then that tv broke again in about seven month's...now i'am stuck with a broken tv.....if you like being disrespected by a company after you buy a exspensive item this is the tv for you...i called costumer service and the girl on the the phone actually said " yeah what cha want" not may i help you with your problem...they hang up on you after leaving you on hold for a half a hour. so here's your warning pass it on to everyone you know looking to buy a flat panel tv this is the worst company ever....

5 comments about Zenith L23W36 23" Widescreen Flat-Panel HD-Ready LCD TV (Silver/Gray).
- I can't say enough about the picture quality of this Zenith.
Better than the 23" Sony when viewing side to side. Nice styling and easy to use. I just love this television.
- I am very happy with this TV. I currently had a very old 1983 Commodore 13" monitor as my video monitor and eventually wanted to replace it with a 40" plasma monitor. I decided to buy this LCD-TV while I saved money to buy the plasma monitor. Great idea! This LCD-TV is the perfect stop gap measure for me. It has the resolution I require (1280 x 768) for my HDTV set top box and DVD viewing needs and the computer input allows me to display my laptop computer which, while I originally had no plan to do so, is a nice feature. If you need a high resolution monitor at a medium size, this LCD-TV is a good buy at this price point.
- The switch panel was not working after I tried it, 38 days after purchase. My mistake that I didn't test when I brought it. Kept using the remote control. Amazon refused to take it back after 30 days, so had to fall back on warranty. The product has now gone back to LG for repairs. LG support was pretty good though - so far.
- I was looking for 17 to 19 inch flat monitors for my pC that had PIP capabilities with Television included. I was disappointed in the choices and quickly saw that to get all the features I wanted I had to look in the $999 to $1400 range. While shopping I found one of the Zeniths that had been recently returned and was on sale as an open item @ Best Buy for $1500.
I jumped on it (and the $200 BB warranty). Came on Amazon and could not believe how good a deal I actually got. Enuff braggin. Setup a breeze. PIP choices are many and awesome. Great on PC, TV so far. Can't wait to run video ins, hook to DVD or X-Box, etc. No complaints. Highly recommend for your next monitor choice. It really looks very cool sitting on my desk too!
- I looked and looked at my local electronics stores comparing every lcd tv they had and when I saw this one it was a WOW moment. The picture on this is amazing to say the least. I have a buddy who is a die hard sony fan. He saw this and couldn't stop talking about it. Cons are video switching is slow... no hdmi.... and audio is bad..... but who cares about audio. If you are going to be spending the money that this costs I would bet that you have a surround sound system already.
