- I bought the the JVC 32" 720p LCD HDTV LT32E479 on sale for under $700. I liked it better than the Samsung or Toshiba which were highly rated. The picture is sharper and the contrast deeper than other 32" LCD TVs selling at a higher price. I have it connected to DirecTV HD. You couldn't ask for a better picture or better sound for that size TV.

5 comments about SONY KV-20FS100 Trinitron(R) Color TV.
- I was in the market for a new television for my bedroom. I had a temporary 13" Sharp TV (which had a quite good picture, but everything does at such a small size). I was wandering around a local store and found this beauty. It was next to a toshiba (sony flat screen-wanna be), and some other branded one which "looked" similar. The sony had the crispest display and most vivid/readable text. On my 13" sharp -- text was unreadable.
This particular model has a cable input jack, AV jacks, component video inputs, and AV jacks on the front for quick hookup to something else (xbox, etc). Like other Sony TVs, this thing is HEAVY!....but it went on a mica desk, so its fully supported :-). The speakers sound quite good and produce a very nice stereo sound, full range, very nice on our cable provider's music channels and regular TV listening. The picture has very fine adjustments, and even tilt correction (for what I can only assume future old age situations). You won't regret buying this television. The superb build quality, sound, picture will make you instantly fall in love with it. As a personal recommendation to Sony if they read these: Might I suggest putting that blue/purple anti-glare layer that is common on your Sony computer monitors on some TVs? Being a flat screen, if there's a glare the whole picture is effected, not just a teeny corner. Just a thought, but I still give it 5 stars!
- sony's tv has the best quality: the picture, color, and sound is just superb. ...the image and color on sony are clear and vivid. granted sony's product is on the expensive end, but given it makes excellent and long lasting products, it is worth every penny.
a little tip for a good picture: turn off the VM setting, unless you are watching sports from afar, the bright edge is kind of annoying. turn down the picture (contrast), up the brightness, up the color. the sound is very clear either lound or low. BUT there is not adjust for treble and bass. you can only select stereo or mono/sap mode. nice features: sleep timer, 3 a/v (1 front, 2 back). Notice, it doesn't have a S-video, but it comes with component video plugs for DVD players (3 seperate color). The image does look much better with it. the slive case is very sleek and nice looking. fits nicely anywhere. the remote is small, but so is the buttons, it is sometime confusing which one you just pushed. ratings: picture quality/clarity: 5+ picture color: 5+ sound: 4.5 features: 4.5 remote: 4
- The picture is not bright enough to bring out details in a dark background. Especially when you watch a night scence in a DVD movie, you cannot clearly see the actors' faces. I would recommend your buying a JVC or Panasonic if you want to enjoy movies.
- I bought this tv today and am very pleased with my purchase. I compared this model to the next sony 20" FV... model and the sound must be much better because that's the only reason I can find for that model's increased cost, (I believe about $50 more). The FV model is described as compact (good for a bedroom/kitchen) but it has the same dimensions as this KV model (I wouldn't really call either tv compact - the tube still makes it huge in the rear). All the other details seem to be the same too for the most part. I didn't check out the sound on this one in the store to compare it to the FV model, but, I really like the sound on this one. The sound I had before was particularly poor so any improvement was a great improvement. However, I have a good ear and the sound on this tv is quite clear and defined. We watched a dvd episode of Voyager on it for our first viewing experience and all the ship sounds/ special effects were very realistic with depth and clarity.
Other reviewers have complained about the weight (almost 55 lbs) but I have compared this model to 2 dozen other 20"-24" flat screen tube tvs and all the others I remember checking out weighed at least 20 lbs more than this one. I shopped around online to find the best picture and sound for under $300 and I chose this sony KV-20FS100 and am very happy with it.
- I have owned Sony televisions since 1980, and I have never been disappointed with any of their televisions. The KV-20FS100 in no exception - an excellent television. I much prerfer Sony's aperature grille CRT over a shadow-mask CRT. I've noted other reviewers' comments on the weight of Sony televisons - an aperature grille cathode ray tube is a bit heavier than a standard shadow-mask CRT. The KV-20FS100's color saturation is excellent and the sound with the standard speakers is quite acceptable. I just wish they were available in charcoal-grey color. IMO, the silver color used in most televisions today looks cheap!
One note on the price: this set replaces a Sony KV-20XBR television purchased in 1986 - and yes, it still works! The 20XBR cost $739 in 1986 dollars, so $250 to $275 I paid for this television is a bargain. It's not built as well as the 20XBR, but the original XBR series was built in Sony's Tokyo's facility and was considered a videophile-level television at the time. Once you own a Sony television, no other brand will ever be acceptable!

- I have had this set for 1 year next week and LOVE IT. I have not had one single problem with it. The picture is killer and the features are simple to use. The only thing I dislike is the audio could be a little better, so I went out and purchased a surround sound to fix that problem. When I decide to upgrade to a larger viewing size in the next year or so, Toshiba will defiantly be on top of my list of brands.
- This is our Tax Refund gift to our family, purchased in March of 2007. The TV retails for around $1200 nearly every where you look, but we were able to find it for less than $930. The best price I have found on the net is $730.
I would highly recommend this TV to anyone looking for a great, great picture and average sound. If sound is terribly important to you, you already own a surround sound system.
My bulb did blow nine months into owning it... not sure how many hours, but I know it is on nearly all day! I called Toshiba and they are processing the replacement bulb to be sent to me now (under warranty). Someone complained that bulbs cost $600... that's nonsense - before Toshiba came through I priced them as low as $229.00 No, I don't want to pay that every nine months; I think I could find the bulb for less down the road and I did save substantially in the initial purchase.
- YES, IT WAS REFURBISHED BUT WITHIN 6 MONTHS I HAD TO BUY NEW LAMP KIT FOR ALMOST $300 THEN A BLACK MARK APPEARED AT TOP OF SCREEN & IT WILL COSTS $600 TO FIX IT!!! ABSOLUTELY NO GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM TOSHIBA AFTER LETTERS, EMAILS & CALLS. WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY.
- Its a great TV, good price for the size, but that low price hides the hidden cost.
The $250 lamps. They last about year, (I got 18 months out of mine). You are essentially buying a $250 halogen lamp that should cost $50. So yah, its planned thing, a way for Toshiba to milk more money out of you. And any time they want to force you to buy a new TV all the need to do is stop making that lamp.
Spend a bit more on a LCD TV, or another brand entirely.
It does get 2 stars for being a good TV, as long as you pay the yearly "subscription" charge to use it.
- First off, I love this TV! I play a lot of video games and watch blu-ray movies and the picture quality is very good. whoever says that it's not is full of it. I have a 1080p tv also and they are very close in picture quality. I have owned this tv for about 19 months now and have not had to change a bulb yet. I would recomend this tv to everyone. For the ones who have had to replace their bulbs, I think you just got a bad apple....it happens with all tv's, even the best. good luck

- This flat screen TV has value written all over it. The brand name is relatively new so there is a risk for the long term, but at [$$$] on amazon or [$$$] at [another store], this is a winner. Changing channels using the remote takes 1 second, picture quality not as good as Panasonic or Sony. but for price, you can't beat this value.
- so far I had no problems with this TV , When you switch channels it does have a black screen in between switching ( No Problem w/me) The sound has also a automatic adjustment while switching (still no problem w/me) overall the Picture is Great, and I rate it a high five. For the price you cant beat this Tv .Just check it out befroe you buy turn up the sound switch channels, Etc Etc.
- Get your hands on this affordable tube for a way low price. This TV was manufactured in 2002, but don't let that fool you. It is high quality even though there is a lag in channel changing, believe me you won't notice it much.
You can Get this television (brand spanking new) for a limited time at TARGET stores for the incredible price of only $88. So go on and pick up this set, it's loaded with high end features for a low end price.
- Wow! What a nice looking tv! I found it at Target for only $88!! I could not believe it. Has the same picture quality as my Sony. PlayStation 2 games are crystal clear too.
This is a great looking tv and very good quality as well. I saw this at Target for $88, snagged one up, and by the time I rolled my cart back to the electronics area there was only one left on the shelf. They were restocking the shelf already by the time I went to leave the store. :)
- Nevermind the "for the money" reviews, for any amount this is a great TV set. Flat crystal clear screen, large enough size for any application, superb sound and as many in/out jacks as you could need. Anything comparable to this would be double the money. The channel change delay is barely noticeable. If you're one to spend wisely, as I am, you wouldn't buy anything else.
