- The TV is great. No issues here. But.... The wall mount bracket: KLV-WL11 is priced at close to $250. I called Sony to check to see if this was true, the cost of the wall mount bracket is roughly 1/2 the price of the TV and they confirmed that was correct. They stated that the price of the bracket was that high so that it did not fall off the wall. Gimme a break!!

- I'd say the 3 star average for this tv is about right, it does have many redeeming qualities in the picture quality and size for the price, when I bought it. BUT my first bulb went out in about 9 months of pretty heavy use. The lamp setting was on high the entire time and thankfully it was still under the manufactures warranty and when i called for a new bulb one was sent within the week. I'm reading these review and writing my own now because my next bulb just went out. This time the setting was on low the entire time and the bulb did last twice as long, so I def recommend using the low setting which looks just fine, you can barely notice really. This one is thankfully covered on my extended warranty, plus they will come out and clean the mirrors etc. After reading the fine print on my best buy extended warranty it says it only covers one bulb replacement (found one for $170) and the warranty was $400. SO thinking back I would have rather just payed the $170 whenever the bulbs went out to $400 for the first one with the warranty...but i guess if anything else goes wrong it'll be covered too, but nothing has happened yet. Hope this review helps.
- Toshiba 52HM84 52-Inch HDTV-Ready Projection DLP TV We have gone through 4 bulbs in 3 years @ $246.24 each , new ballast was $322.66 and now we need a new Light Engine $842.13 for a grand total of $2,149.75. Are you kidding!! I have called Toshiba and all they say is I'm Sorry. Not under warranty. Garbage day is tomorrow that's where this TV is doing. DO NOT BUY ANY TOSHIBA PRODUCTS!!!!
- I have had this TV for 3 years and 6 months. I am replacing the bulb for the third time. Bulbs are over $200 dollars. This TV is not so great that it is worth a new bulb every year. I use the TV less that 2 hours a day. Do the math, that is less than 1000 hours per bulb. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I repeat, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
- I got this TV refurbed and I am very happy with it. The picture quality is great. Everybody keeps complaining about the lamp, but most of them probably didn't read the manual. There are certain things that shorten the life of the lamp. They probably did all of those. Because I got it refurbed, I also got a lifetime warranty (which includes lamp replacements.) It's a good T.V., you just have to know how to treat it.
- I bought my toshiba 52 over three years ago and am still on the original lamp. We use it approx 5 hrs every day on low setting. I am going to buy a replacement bulb now just to have it on hand since my one year manufacturers and 2 year extended warranties have ended. Is it possible
all these people who are having to replace their lamps so often are switching from low to high setting alot causing the lamps to weaken? I don't know, but it seems odd that there would be such a difference in my tv and theirs. Someone also mentioned that they were having their mirrors polished or cleaned. It seemed like the sales person at best buy had told me that the mirrors were sealed in an air type environment and wouldn't need cleaning. Does anyone know about this?

- I bought this tv February 10, 2008. At first, I loved it. But yesterday the menu screen started popping up randomly and frequently. I did some troubleshooting but it's still there. I tried contacting Haier but ended up leaving a message because I didn't want to wait on hold all day. A tv is pretty worthless if you can't watch anything because the menu screen is up half the time.
- Got it out of the box and the stand was broken. "No worries", I thought, I had planned to wall-mount anyway. Within 3 weeks it starts to randomly - and frequently - shut itself off. Not just turning itself off but powering all the way down - and won't come back on for hours. Again, I thought "aggravating, but thank goodness I got the extended service plan".
WRONG! They're giving me the runaround (company is "NEW" - Amazon lets these crooks advertise right next to these products). Maybe it will all resolve - but in the meantime, I have no TV. So buy yourself the good name brand and save yourself the considerable aggravation. The Haier brand is suppose to be big in Europe. Europe may come pick up this TV at any time!
Well, it's over two weeks later - finally got a call back (they're suppose to return your call in 24 to 36 hours). I called 9 times. Extended warranty won't cover because it's still covered by the manufacturer warranty. So they (Haier) have me describe the trouble (TV's stone-dead) and then they order the part they think it might be - nobody comes out to look at the set. It takes 7 to 21 days for the part (if it's the right guess?) to come in. Then they're suppose to come out and install - and hopefully it works - hopefully I described "dead" well? Run! Do not walk from this TV.
- This is what happens when a bunch of video amateurs, known for making REFRIGERATORS, tries to muscle in on the video business. God save us.
- We bought our tv in January 2008 and now its October 2008 with absolutely no problems at all. We even moved 1200 miles in that time and I had to pack it up and load it into a U-Haul. It made it out just fine and is working like brand new. If it's left without any input for a period of time (like your dvd player was playing and is now off) it will turn off automatically, but I have no problem turning it right back on and have actually found that pretty convenient that it does that. I read lots of reviews from the 32 inch Haier HDTV before I bought this one because no one had reviewed this one yet. I waited to review but we've had it for 9 months now and it works like it was brand new.

5 comments about Sharp LC32SH20U 32-Inch LCD HDTV with Integrated ATSC Tuner.
- Researched quite a bit and found that this TV is *NOT* marketed by Sharp as an Aquos. Apparently they now have a perhaps lesser-quality line LCD-TV, and this TV is not an Aquos. Notified Amazon of this too.
- UPDATE: August 22, 2007--We now have DISH Sat Service and the HD Box and lots of HD Channels. This set is just wonderful. No problems after one year of ownership. The picture is very clear on all channels, HD or regular. And, this TV should last for years! When I do buy another HD TV, I will get a LARGER one about 48" and maybe plasma. However, the LCD is just fine.
First, let me share my experience. I wanted an HDTV, and FLAT panel LCD, not a plasma TV. However, I knew little or nothing about the LCD HD's. After thinking about buying one for months and looking at them in the stores, I asked the salesman which was the most simple one to set up and use. He suggested the Sharp. Since I liked the picture, I bought the Sharp. First, I had this connected to CABLE and a special HD box and I did not like the reception on the cable hookup. Then, I switched to satelite service, and quit my cable company. What a differnce in the picture, night and day difference, now I am in love with this TV! This picture is STUNNING and SUPERB. I see clarity and colors I never saw in my old analog JVC (and this was the best TV I ever owned until now). The picture quality and colors on this TV are breathtaking. I really enjoy the set and I love watching my DVD movies, HD tv shows and even local shows on it. Just to let you know, it does take time to get used to the picture and color vividness on the HDTV, but as you watch it more, you will not want to go back to the old tube type analog TV. The most important thing I learned is for a fuller screen is to put this on the ZOOM view. This way you do not lose so much picture. The Sharp book has been alot of help and also I went to Google and looked up all I can now about HDTV and am learning as I go. All in all, my eyes are happy now when I am viewing this TV! Sharp is a great TV!
UPDATE: Monday, July 23, 2007 - The TV now rates 5 stars now for 2 reasons:
1) I have the DISH HD Receiver Box and have many HD Stations now, which look wonderful on this TV. (The older Cable service I have only had a few HD TV shows on it, the Dish has many more HD Stations and the colors are out of this world now).
2) I have read the book cover to cover and know this TV well. After all these months, I love this TV more and more and more...
- I bought a sharp lcd tv from j& r in new york last Jan, after a year and half, when powering on the tv, sometimes works, sometimes not. after unplug in, wait for a while and plug back, worked for a couple months. Send it to service center to checkup, was told that the lcd control board needs to be replaced. when request to get back the replaced lcd control board, was told that sharp does not give back the replaced board, it has to be shipped back, otherwise, you have to pay additional fee to get back the replaced board.. it's rather strange to hear such a lousy policy from any vendor..
But, if you do want to get a sharp, better get a long long warranty..
- This TV is an exceptional value. Just received this yesterday from B&H and am very pleased. The picture (especially sports) is supprisingly good with very little blur, concisidering the contrast ratio and other specs are slightly below many higher end models. Using the component cables, DVDs look to be fantastic, I played Star Wars Episode III and really enjoyed the sound quality and pucture. The remote is easy to use, menus are easy to follow and the set-up was a breeze. I'm please with the purchase- The stand quality is high and the input jacks are firm. I don't have a lot of usage experience but based on value, picture quality, sound and harware quality would give this TV a 5/5.
- This has terrible motion blur in fast-moving scenes (or even medium-speed scenes), due to its high 12ms pixel response time. It is also very difficult to see detail in low-lit scenes, due to its 800:1 contrast ratio. In dark scenes, distinguishing what is going on is impossible. This TV was a huge disappointment. After doing much research, I have learned that you need 8ms or lower pixel response time to avoid motion blur on LCDs and contrast ratio at least 10,000:1 (recommended). Try to look for those two features (among others) when choosing an HDTV. This particular Sharp model is very basic. You could find better quality for your money with a different HDTV.

5 comments about Toshiba TDP-S20U DLP Video Projector -SVGA.
- Okay, digital projection on a budget? I bought this item a few years back. The first $400.00+ bulb blew out in less than 300 hours. I contacted Toshiba and they replaced it, since it didn't get anywhere near the 2,000 hour "lifespan" they claim. The next bulb blew out at 460 hours. I called again. Nothing. No replacement. No service. I was on the phone with them for 4.5 hours and all I could get was 2 promises to "get a call back from one of our supervisors". None of my messages were ever returned. No one ever "called back". No replacement, or offer to replace, or even service sans the attitude. If the bulbs lasted 1400 hours, or even 1,000, I wouldn't be nearly as upset about this hunk'o'junk, but at $400.00+ per bulb, I'm paying an extra $60 dollars for every hour I watch it! Also, I've been typing $400.00+, because the bulb cost has risen every time I've checked into it. The current SRP is $453.00 for one bulb. If you get over 400 hours on a bulb, you're lucky! Avoid this unit, and after my experiences with their "customer service"-less calls, avoid this company's products like the plauge.
- Don't pay attention to the review suggesting that the bulbs are a hassle. This IS a good product, and I think I know what happened with his. The first bulb probably had a problem, and that's why Toshiba replaced it at no cost. But if he installed the next bulb incorrectly, the lifespan is shortened exponentially, so be sure to do it right. And as for the price of the bulbs, they ARE expensive, but he's exaggerating just a bit. I just bought one on the Internet a week ago for $260 (tax free) and it's already here. As for me, I use my projector extensively, probably 5-7 hours a day. It lasted about a year and a half for me, which is more than I thought it would. All in all, this is much better than a big screen t.v., and cheaper...Good buy.
- I agree with the previous poster. I have over 2300 hours on my first bulb. This has been a great buy. I don't want to sound fake or like I am advertising, but it really has been a fun toy. I tell my friends that it is one of the only big ticket items I have not had buyers remorse about.
- The HD is incredible with this projector. you do have to buy an odd cable (RGB to component) but I found one online for less than $20 on ebay. I paid $850 for mine and my friend just got his from circuitcity for $700. I have over 1800 hours on the bulb and it has not dwindled one bit. Since I bought mine, two of my friends have got the exact same model cause this thing rocks. way better than plasma prices and much more portable.
- I have had this projector for 3 years and it has done a good job. The first bulb lasted 1300 hours, and was under $260 to replace on Amazon. I would have no problem buying a Toshiba again. The only thing I could add is the way the prices have dropped I would buy the T45U or T100U instead of the S20U.

- Great 36" flat glass TV except for a few things. When I mute, it doesn't turn on closed captioning. It doesn't preserve video mode or 16:9 setting per input, or even for inputs vs internal tuner. And it has component inputs, but it can't do progressive display.
- This is a wonderful TV, except for its corners. The day it was delivered, there was a greenish tint visible in the lower left corner when lighter colors were on the screen. I finally contacted Sony about it and they put me in contact with a local TV repair shop to take care of the problem, free of charge since it was still under waranty. They came out, put some magnets somewhere on the inside of the TV, and the discoloration is not as severe, but still visible They told me that the corners of flat screen TVs often have color problems.
Overall, it looks nice but is not as perfect as it should be for the high cost. Be prepared for a possibly incurable imperfection
- This television is a great example of Sony's quality. The 36" set is big and heavy (approx. 220 lbs), but once installed the picture and sound quality are impressive. The color is accurate, and the set has several picture settings such as movie and sports which help tweak the picture to what is being watched. What is especially surprising is the superior sound quality from the two side speakers. I have the television hooked up to a component audio system, and in many cases, the TV's audio is as good as the component stereo's output, with the exception of a deeper and more resonant bass.
This television has an analog tuner so it will not receive over-the-air signals when the conversion occurs in 2009, but it will continue to work perfectly for cable TV.
I highly recommend this set. Probably all of these are now on the used market, but a well-cared-for model should be a great investment.
