- nice picture and has black enhancement that fixes the black nicely, i use it for the xbox 360 and color is good. Only one video component input, has 2 HDMI, one DVI-I. its a little annoying having to switch out the cable box and xbox 360 and DVD player to the single video component input. but if xbox 360 would just get a HDMI cable all my problems could be solved.
- Great picture quality, even on standard definition, but my Sony Bravia is slightly better with HD imaging. Display format options, however, are limited. For example, no zoom or wide zoom for my cable box component input to fill the screen on selected standard broadcasts. Cabinet fit and finish is outstanding. There is a wide variety of input options.
- This is a great flat screen LCD -- we use it in our office for educational DVDs and VCRs (separate units) and the picture quality is superb. We have not hooked it up to cable or tried any other form of reception.
Amazon's price was great and with prime membership we received the TV within 2-days -- free shipping.
I am planning to buy this same LCD for my home for cable TV hookup.
- After owning a 20" Aquos for over a year I decided on another purchase from this quality product/company. To my dismay, after setting up this 32" I discovered the screen was damaged, figuring this was an error in handling during transit I placed a replacement order. Pleased with the speed of turnaround I was horrified to then set-up this one up and be unable to get a picture ( after troubleshooting until blue in the face! )
I will continue to use amazon as they've always been reliable in the past.
I just now hope that I get BOTH refunds in a timely fashion.

- I am totally satisfied with both the television and the delivery service.
Thank you,
Jim Israelson
- I tried to buy this item from a seller named 'lovekars' (listed in Amazon's Market Place). After exchanging several emails with the seller through Amazon's service to get answers to some of my questions ans seller agreeing to sell it at the stated price I put the order on last sunday (07/15/2007) giving out my name, shipping details and qty as asked for by the seller hoping to get the transaction initiated by the seller using Amazon's Payment System (As suggested by him). Even after a repeated email I did not get any response from the seller - either confirming the sale or denying it for any reason whatsoever he may have. I am not sure why such unscrupulous sellers are in Amazon's Market Place. They might take any buyer for a ride at any stage of the transaction and delivery of goods and products sold through the Amazon's Market Place.
- THIS HDTV IS EVERY THING I wanted. I love the CabeCARD option, saves me the price of renting a digital box from COMCAST. Any web-sites CLAIMING to have it in stock should be reliable.
IT'S a discontinued model and should be bought VIA PHONE, rather than the INTERNET. Talk to a real person and get their stock quantity. I did ONE-CALL without AMAZON because the price was the same.
BEAUTIFUL set.......
NORFOLK.
- Bought 2, one for the den and one for the bedroom, Incredible picture and easy to use. Remote could be better but with all the remote combo's on the market who cares. 1080p? who needs it. Great deal at 1999.00 each. should have bought 4 more for the rest of the house.
- Stunning Home Theater Plasma. When viewing real HD it is displays breathtaking cinematography in landscapes to action scenes, superior clarity and detail. Brilliant crisp colors. Calibration is a breeze with Digital Essentials; the set has a decent color decoder for natural colors, better color saturation, handles grey scale gradations very well and has a great black level which is vital for the detail in darker scenes.

- This projector is super bright and works just great. Plus with its absolutely unbeatable low price, you won't go wrong with this purchase!
- My first attempt of setup was setting it on the coffee table in front of me, but it seemed to keep over heating and shutting itself off to cool. Since I installed it from the ceiling, it has not over heated.
I am projecting a really nice 90" widescreen image from about 8' from the screen. I have found that using the 16:9 widescreen setting give the best image. The brightness is enough that I can have a ceiling light on behind me and it does not effect the image that much.
No PIP, but from what I hear that usually does not turn out good anyway.
No HDMI input, but the S-Video works just fine.
The remote works great. Point it almost any direction you want and it works, and the pets love the built in laser pointer.
About the only thing I would change is HDMI input. Other than that, it is just what I needed, and about a thousand dollars less than trying to buy a LCD or Plasma big enough to really create a theater experience.
- This was my first projector. I was very happy with it until one day, with no warning, it stopped working. I would turn it on, and within 5 seconds it would indicate the temp was too high and shut itself off. I contacted Viewsonic to arrange a warranty repair. Their webpage said they'd send me a unit within 48 hours. Their phone support said no units were available, I'd have to wait up to 15 days for mine to be repaired. They received mine on the 2nd. Today is the 21st and I'm being told they still don't have any replacement units, so it'll be another 7-10 days. I get the feeling I'll hear the same thing in 10 days.
I'm going to buy an Optoma today.
Update 18-Dec-07: On 4-Dec, ViewSonic offered to replace my PJ458D with a PJ558D. I agreed and then waited for it to be shipped to me. I've been waiting ever since. Every 2 days I call and they tell me that due to a new computer system they've just installed, my shipment is in limbo. Then they say they will escalate my case. When pressed for more information, the customer service reps always admit, "that's all they can do". Whenever I ask to speak to a supervisor, I am put on eternal hold (last week it was 48 minutes before I finally gave up). The saga continues.
- This is my first projector, I got it about a year ago and the way I have it setup is what you could consider "home cinema". I have a media PC hooked up to it via VGA (15 pin DSub) and a Playstation 2 hooked up via S-Video. The VGA setup comes out very crisp, for HD videos as well as HDTV. We had a superbowl party and everyone was quite impressed. The S-Video is decent, but nothing special - it's certainly better than using the yellow RCA jack. So currently I have it projecting from about 11 and a half feet away onto a white wall and the diagonal picture measurement is the equivalent of having a 100 inch TV.
The OSD menu is very helpful and the settings are pretty intuitive, from setting up the picture on slanted walls (keystone) or as a ceiling mounted projector, to correcting the color and white intensity. The ECO-mode, if it works as it claims, is such a small drop in brightness, that I have it on all the time. It's supposed to extend the lamp life by 1000 hours. I've already logged 900 hours on the lamp (another nice feature - it shows the total time the lamp has been on) and it's still running well, although I'll sometimes notice a faint flicker in the upper left corner that eventually goes away after 15 seconds or so. I'm not sure if that's from the signal or the projector itself.
The only drawback is the lack of either DVI or HDMI in. I don't want to upgrade to a digital in projector yet so I got an in-line converter from HDMI/DVI to VGA (Google HDFury) which will allow me to hookup an Xbox 360 or PS3 whenever I get one.
I'm quite pleased with the projector so far, and I would recommend it to anyone that isn't going to need a digital input, but wants a quality picture at a middle of the road price.
- It worked for 15 minutes. Let it cool -worked 10 minutes. Let it cool several days-ran for a few minutes.
Called ViewSonic May 5. It has been an ongoing mess since them. It is now August 28th. Without my approval they sent me twice the wrong model. Once they sent the right model, but it worked for 15 minutes. All the products are refurbished units. They have promised me this and that. I have been escalated. "It's in the mail" to death...I have been told they take inventory for the whole month of July. (Note: I have seen a complaint where the customer was told they do inventory for the whole month of December)
They want me to pay the $20 shipping expense for a different model than I purchased. They have my money, my asset (Pj458D)...my money spent sending units back and I have ZERO, ZILCH, NADA. Any suggestions??????????

5 comments about Sony Grand WEGA KDF-50WE655 50-Inch LCD Projection TV with Integrated HDTV Tuner.
- I owned the samsung 42" dlp before this unit. The samsung service was INCREDIBLY bad--it couldn't be any better than what is described in other reviews. I had innumerable problems with this TV, including service calls, washed out images, and total failure. I finally got them to give me "permission" to trade this in for the sony. This product is far superior. However, do yourself a favor and get a calibration disc. This will improve the picture immeasurably. If you are going to spend big bucks on a tv, pay the money to get the dark/light and color in focus. How can others complain about the "black," if they haven't had it professionally calibrated? Playing with the tv menu and complaining is like changing the stations on your car radio and saying your engine now runs rough. geez!
My only complaint also concerns outputs which are limited as another person stated. However, if you hook up inputs correctly, the output problem becomes mute. I run a satellite receiver, DVD/VHS, 6 speakers (psb and paradigm) and audio receiver with this TV, so connections are a bit tricky. I also wish that they had included the computer input which many other hdtv's have--however the price of this tv is somewhat lower than other 50" so that trade-off seems understandable. For the money this is a great tv, and 50" is a wonderful size for a larger living room.
- I got this TV about a month ago. Fantastic color and sound quality. Black is not absolute, which is typical for an LCD TV. Black is dark enough however that it really is not a factor.
When you get used to HDTV you really notice how low quality a standard broadcast is. I am using a DirecTV HD receiver for all channels including local. I do not get cable or HD good local reception where I am. I can not comment about off air TV quality.
I chose an LCD based product because I could see the rainbow on some DLP based products. There is also a squeal audible (color wheel?) with some DLP products. I chose the Sony because it does not give much of a "screen door" appearance as some other LCD projectors do.
If using a home theatre or surround sound receiver for your audio be sure to get a "fast" TV like this one. On some TVs the video processor is slow enough that you get sound and video out of sync. This TV does not suffer from such a video delay.
- I purchased the 50" Sony, two weeks ago, and after having my electronically inclined son tune up the colors, and make a few picture adjustments are observing a wonderful picture. Sound is good, not great, but will be putting in surround sound soon. As prices fall this set is now nearing the$2,000 price point, which is a lot of set in terms of features and size for the money. I would advise a service agreemnet as projection bulbs do in fact burn out after 2-3,000 hours and can be very expensive. The set up was flawless, and the picture quality is superb.
- Let's be honest. This is one very high class television with all the bells and whistles. The picture it produces is incredible with either Digital Cable or HDTV signal, and is just as amazing when used with Optical, S-Video, or Progressive Scan component cables from a DVD/VCR. The clarity, brilliance, and color rendition is A+ through and through. You'd be hard pressed to find folks to disagree with that. The area where this TV gets dinged in the same for any large screen LCD, DLP, or Plasma unit - no one likes the low resolution analog delivery when a large widescreen is hooked up to a poor analog cable or worse still VHF or UHF non-digital signal. So make a commitment now that you are shopping for a big screen HDTV set-up. If you are willing to spend a couple of grand on a large screen high-end television, you should really give consideration to providing that television with a high-end signal. That means getting digital cable, satellite (digital signal), a house antenna for free over-the-air HDTV, and investing in a DVD/VCR that has the modern outputs. Do that and you are going to be in awe each night you settle in front of this television. Don't do it and you are going to settle for less than this television can provide.
I've owned this television for about one year now. I can tell you that it is highly impressive. The clarity and depth of the picture are astonishing and the brilliance is fantastic. Style-wise, okay, the newer model of this same system is more "modern" than this. Sound-wise, this system produces clear tones and great surround. I utilize this set with a home theatre set-up using Optical out from the TV and am immersed with sound. And I can say that playing Xbox on this set-up with the MS HD component cables is astoundingly realistic.
The really great features too are that this does have its own integrated ATSC tuner to decode the HD free over-the-air signals. And better still the no need for picture-in-picture when you can split the screen and watch them side-by-side (though you can't do that with two ATSC tuned stations - one has to be analog).
But probably the best perspective I can give you is that I treat the guests to my home who haven't yet seen such a high-end widescreen television to a bit of a test. I display for them the analog every day picture first in full 16:9 view and then in 4:3 standard. They instantly agree that analog in 16:9 is not sharp, and less appealing. Then I switch it over to a digital connection and they are back to being awed. Finally, I tune in an HDTV broadcast and everyone is absolutely mesmorized. During the Superbowl this year one of my party guests exclaimed, "Wow! I can see individual faces in the stadium seats when the cameras are watching the action on the field." Yes, I know. I get that enjoyment every single day when I power up the Sony 50". If you are seriously looking to get a big screen, this one is the absolute way to go! I'll leave the rest to argue over which is better, an LCD Projection, DLP, LCD flat panel, or Plasma. I already know. It's sitting in my entertainment center.
- COMES WITH MEDIA CARD SLOT, LARGE SCREEN, SPEAKERS ON SIDE. PICTURE QUALITY IS AMAZING!! I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH.

5 comments about Sharp LC-26D4U AQUOS 26-Inch Flat Panel LCD HDTV.
- As I recall, our 26" AQUOS did have a gorgeous image for the first four months....August through November 2006. I haven't seen it in 6 weeks so it is hard to be enthusiastic. By December 13th, our AQUOS was in the shop --waiting for part after "reconditioned" part from Sharp. We spoke with Emily, Andre, Jordan, Patrick, Tammy, Cindy, Jamie, Serena, Angie, Ray,Lynelle, and Clarice's voice mail at the Sharp Service Center in Romeoville, IL.. We then sent two faxes. Two weeks ago, we were promised a replacement tv -- which we later learned will be a "reconditioned" set. We are about to pick that set up. We received no compensation and only the most glib apology.
I am not sure what other warantees say, but I urge you to read the Sharp warranty with great care. Their service staff were friendly, but would not give us the name of a manager to contact for a month.
- This is a wonderful TV. I had no problem setting it up and it fit beautifully into my TV cabinet. The picture is terrific and the controls are easy to understand. I would buy another one in a minute.
- I purchased this item in June of 2006. In August of 2007 -- 2 months after the warrantee ran out -- the sound went out. Do not recommend.
- It's been a year and 8 months since I bought this set and the sound went out. It was sort of off and on and I thought it was my cable box but noooooooo.... and it's going to run $600 to fix it. Not worth it at all.
- This set was great up until this week and suddenly the sound went out. My second Sharp TV set to have problems this week. Guess I angered the Sharp Gods.
