- I bought this TV to replace the one in our bedroom, that was destroyed by a surge during a recent storm. (Dumb me, I didn't have a surge protector on it!) The old TV was a 13 inch screen and this one seems huge in comparison. It's the perfect size for the bedroom and has exceptional picture and sound quality. It fits with any decor and I absolutely love it. I would recommend it to anyone who asked! DON'T FORGET THE SURGE PROTECTOR!

5 comments about Mitsubishi WD-65735 65-Inch 1080p DLP HDTV.
- This is an awesome HDTV. Great picture and sound. Easy setup. Fantastic value. I have a Samsung 52" DLP that I love, but this Mitsubishi is even better. It's HUGE, however, so it dominates the room and needs 10-12 feet viewing distance (for my taste) to avoid the front-row seat effect. Light weight made installation by two people pretty easy.
- It's a nice TV set, indeed -- the picture is crisp, the colors are natural, and the built-in speakers are well above average. It would make a great product if it wasn't for an apparently flawed lamp/cooler/sensor combination.
While we had our TV on for 4-5 hrs a day on average, six months after we got the set, the lamp went bad, and we had to replace it (that time under warranty) -- Mitsubishi service dept. handled it pretty well. Less than 12 months later the second lamp went bad, so we had to pay for a replacement this time around. And since about 2 weeks ago the TV started shutting itself down a few seconds after being turned on while reporting the lack of airflow (message on the screen and amber status light), so my guess is it's a sensor that's acting out.
Poor lamp life is probably due to overheating, and that's in our big family room where typical temperature is about 74F and plenty of air flow.
I cannot tell, however, if this is just our unit or there is a common problem with these sets.
- before i bought this set i owned a 58inch hitachi ultravision for 6yrs.i loved the picture on that set.i didn't think i would ever find a set with such a great picture again, but i was wrong! i needed to get a slimmer tv because of room constraints so i started shopping. i looked at everything except Mitsubishi(i always thought they were overpriced). then one day i found a great sale going on at one of the big local dealers. they were giving trade-in credit on tv's even if they didn't work. so i checked one out and boy was i supprised.the picture took my breath away.the color was bright, sharp and precise. the whites were white, not blue-white.the colors were natural and tight,no bleeding.the blacks didn't run into each other you could see the detail and shades against other blacks, like a black suit on a black background.when i got the set home it took all but 5 minutes to hook up. when i turned it on it looked even better then it did at the store.it has all the hook-ups you'll need.i have all my scorsese connected to the HDMI for best performance.i think movies look better then in a theater with my blu-ray DVD player. even the HDTV hookup looks perfect. this is a beautiful set and i would recommend it to everyone.last but not least I'm not getting the rainbow effect some others have had so i can't comment on it except i can't see it. i hope this helps whoever reads this. i love my new tv! if you decide to buy one i don't think you'll be sorry. before i forget, you can upgrade to a more expensive 65 inch from Mitsubishi with more horns and whistles, but it will just be a waste of your hard earned money. this tv will give you all that you need in HDTV.
- This replaced my 57" Mitsubishi which was about a year old. I am truly happy with this purchase and recommend it to anyone. Buy a Sony PS3 for the Blu-ray, which this TV will show its quality on.
- I researched several tv's including the JVC lcos models, the Samsung's, LCD's and Plasma's. I read all the reviews both professional and user. I agonized over details wondering if I was making the 'right' decision. Well, it was the right decision. It was the best screen size for the buck and it exceeded my expectations. My only real comparison is a first-gen Visio 32" 1080i model. This Mitsubishi blows that away. You can agonize over the black and white levels and all that, but at the end of the day the Nascar Race, the football game, and my upconverted DVD's look spectatular in my less than ideal room. If you need a big screen and have a small budget don't hesitate, this tv is amazing.

5 comments about Toshiba REGZA 37RV530U 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV.
- I've had the Regza 37RV530U for a bout 60 days. The picture is outstanding. I compared it to a Sony, Sharp and Samsung and there was no comparison. Two minor items. First, the IR window is in the center of the bottom bezel. If you use separate speakers, the center channel may block it. Second if you use a separte A/V receiver, I found the sound to be better using the digital output on the component (DVD, Cable Box, etc.) and connecting it directly to the receiver versus feeding everything into the TV and having the TV feed the receiver.
- I have had the tv for about 3 weeks now. The picture and sound are outstanding. Everything about the set is first class. The only thing I had a little difficulty with was the menu's for setting up the set but I figured it out after a few attempts and all is well.
- Looked long and hard at various LCD's and decided on the Toshiba. The installation was very simple and the menu is user friendly. Thought it would be difficult to install alone and happily it was a breeze. Love all the bells and whistles. Can add all sorts of other electronics and computers. Everything works well and the image is great. It's so good I want another for the living room.
Excellent!!
- This TV is beautiful, very easy to set and operate and has a great picture.
- Service is a big problem.
I ordered this TV on 6-3-08 and was pleasantly surprised when it was delivered on 6-5-08 from TigerDirect. Unfortunately, there was no audio at all when it was hooked up. The merchant requires any warranty service be handled directly through Toshiba; fair enough. Several days elapsed when Toshiba tried to find a service to come repair it. I was advised of that shop's identity and phone number. I contacted them and was told that a part had to be ordered (although they never have personally seen the set I presume they may know their business). Since then, I have been told repeatedly, by the repair service and manufacturer, that the part is on backorder. The net result is that as of 8-14-08 I still have no audio (but have a very expensive paperweight) and no firm idea as to when or if this will be resolved.
Be careful!

5 comments about Panasonic Viera TH-46PZ80U 46-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV.
- After spending about three months of looking at different HDTV's, I couldn't decided if I wanted projection, LCD or Plasma. I ruled out projection fairly quickly as it doesn't have the angle of view I'm used to with my tube TV (I can be sitting at my computer and still look at the TV). So it was down to LCD or Plasma. I didn't want to spend that much money on a TV so that ruled out Sony, Sharp and Samsung (I like the pictures on those but you seem to pay a premium) so I was looking for a middle tier HDTV.
I had a 36" tube TV and I din't want to lose height on that, so I did the math and figured out I would need a 44" TV in widescreen. Unfortunately, they don't make those, so it was either a 42" or 46". I was going to settle on a Philips 47" and was about ready to plunk down the money.
I went into the store and got a heck of a deal on this one. It looked nice enough, so I got it. So far I am pretty happy. The blacks are pretty darned close to black. HD shines on it. Even my old DVD player shines on it. I could see details in STar Wars that I haven't seen since watching it in the theater. It's not quite a Sony but I think it's better than what I was looking at.
- I've been shopping for an HDTV for a while now, waiting for the prices to fall and/or the features and tech to improve. I narrowed my current list to the Sharp 52 & 46" LCD (LC-52D64U/LC-46D64U), Panasonic 50" 720p plasma (PX series), Hitachi 50 720p plasma (P50S601), Samsung's 46" LCDs and 50" 720p plasmas and of coarse the Holy Grail - Pioneer Kuro 50" plasma even if only at 720p. I almost bought the Pioneer Kuro 5080 when I saw it on sale for $2400. It was a tough decision not to buy it and I still regret it to this day. Now I can not find the 5080 let alone for $2400. That was the one that got away about 4 weeks ago. So I kept on shopping.
I came across the Pannasonic TH-46PZ80U at ABC Warehouse and they were having a weekend only sale. These were just release to retail. I took the plunge after I saw the picture on the display model. To say it was gorgeous is an understatement and that was with less than optimal component signal in a bright showroom.
I got it home and set it up on my new TV stand, I adjusted the picture (eyeballed it for now) and connected the cable and PS3 via HDMI. Threw in the Blu-Ray of "Live Free or Die Hard" and was blown away with the picture quality. Made some minor picture tweaks to suit my tastes and sat down and let it all soak in. I do believe I heard angels singing as I basked in the beauty of 1080p. Blacks were deep and shadow detail was impressive. A review said there is a red push on the PZ85U series but I did not notice it on the PZ80U. There may have been but it suits my tastes if that's the case. I was afraid of glare being an issue with the plasma screen but I really did not notice it too much. It is there if you look for it but it wasn't distracting during the movie even though it was mid afternoon in my bright sunlit living room.
Since my living room gets a lot of ambient light, I was leaning towards LCD for this reason only. But the fact that the picture washes out on LCDs as you move off center really bothered me and I could not get over that issue. So I crossed off the LCDs. The Pioneer Kuro did have a slightly better picture overall as I viewed it in the showcased home theater setup @ BB. But it wasn't $1000 better than my Panny. On the PZ80U, sports was flawless on it. No motion blur at all. Not even the 120Hz LCDs can come close to plasmas here. I watch the Red Wings beat Pittsburgh in game 4 of the finals and was in heaven. Watching my beloved Wings in hi-def get a step closer to The Cup highlighted my weekend filled with Blu-Ray and HDTV glory. The PZ85U series has a higher contrast 30000:1 panel but as I compared the 2 side-by-side, I really could not tell the difference between them. Now, I could tell the difference between the PX and the PZ (720p vs. 1080p). 1080p is the way to go! Some will say that you won't be able to discern between 720p and 1080p resolution at 50" or under screen size. Bull!!! Maybe under 42" might be more accurate. But even I could tell on 42" at viewing distance. It was just on the Pioneer Kuro that it really did not matter as much - the picture was that good.
The Samsung plasmas in my pricerange had really good image quality and features as did the Hitachi but could not keep up with the Panasonic and Pioneer in the most important area - the picture. Just my opinion.
So now you know that the picture on the PZ80U is "all that". Connections-wise, it was a fairly standard package with 3 HDMI 1.3 (one front), 2 component and an SD card reader but no PC input. I like the looks of it but not as much as the thin bezels of the Sharp, Samsung, and Toshiba. The base does not adjust like the motorized one on the Hitachi but its not problem for me. The sound quality from the speakers are decent and will due until I get my surround system.
Overall, I'd recommend the Panasonic TH-46PZ80U to anyone looking for a 1080p plasma with excellent picture quality at a reasonable price.
Get it for: deep blacks, shadow detail, overall picture quality, high refresh rates
Pass on it for: non-adjustable base, power consumption (628w, are you kidding me?!?!)
- This is as good as it gets. Great TV and a great company to do business with. The TV came by special truck and was setup by them in a few minutes. White glove service all the way. Oh, did I fail to mention it was the lowest price as well. $700 less than Best Buy!
- After lengthly investigation, we bought this instead of an LCD Sony or Samsung because we though the LCD screens might get damaged too easily by our small children. After a month or so of use, we are very pleased with the Panasonic plasma. Great picture. No evidence of burn in. No significant problems with reflections, partly due to where we happen to use it. Only two small gripes: 1) For some goofy reason, Panasonic puts the channel up/down toggle on its remote controls where the volume up/down usually goes (on the left side), and its volume up/down where the channel up/down usually goes (on the right side). The remote is otherwise nicely designed. 2) The TV includes an SD card slot, which you can load up with photos, etc. They look great, but there is no random play feature on it, so if you have 500 photos on the card, you will always see Photos 1, 2, 3, etc; but never see Photos 498, 499, 500!
- I've had my Panasonic TH-46PZ80V set for about a month now and love it. It has an amazing picture and none of the glare issues I've read about in other reviews (and our living room gets a lot of direct sunlight during the day). I'd recommend this set to anyone. I especially love the insert my camera SanDisk for an instant slide show. The set even automatically orients the picture. Amazon had the cheapest price, free delivery, and they even unboxed it and set it up. Amazing service. Thanks Amazon.

5 comments about Toshiba REGZA 42XV540U 42-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV.
- This is my first HDTV as I had my previous analog 27 inch tube for over 10 years. I was surprised to learn that all TVs seemed to have pixalation up close, even on the HD channels. But who watches TV 6 inches away? I took a star away as it seems the sound at times needs some boost and I have to turn on my stereo. Overall I am very pleased with the picture but I probably would say that about anything I bought as it is so much bigger and nicer than what I previously was watching. I am also not sure if the 120Hz is necessary at this point but from what I read, if you can afford, it might not be a bad thing to get as it should be useful in the future.
- For the money, I think it would be very hard to beat this TV. It's as clear as any other I've seen in the stores, and it doesn't jitter!!!! I really like this TV. I don't love it, I think that's a bit much to say about any electronic device, but I REALLY like it! :)
- This is my family's first HDTV. It is simple to set up. The controler for this television is simple to use and easy to program with other devices hooked up to the television such as satalite recievers, dvd, and vcr players. The picture quality is amazing, but anything is better than our old television with lines running down the screen. It is also a great buy for the price too.
- Okay, this would easily be a five star review if not for two things, but related to Samsung. First, the samsung LCD TV, anyone that goes to HH Gregg, Fry's or Best Buy and see's the 120 Hz picture on a samsung realizes that the picture doesn't look like a movie, it looks like a documentary or re-enactment of the movie (incredible) the Toshiba's picture is incredible, fluid, smooth, real color...but not that samsung picture, upsetting but I can live with it, the picture is really amazing. Strike two, and the big one! My Samsung home theatre in a box system ht-x75, long story short, the system didn't pass through, and the TV would not recognize my blue ray player when I hooked it through the Audio system. As much as I love this TV, that did it for me, it's going back...now if you have a regualar receiver, you should be fine, and you will love this television, but in my case, I have to take the one star off cause it did not meet my standards.
- I needed a flatscreen to go above my fireplace in a fairly sunny room. It also had to be 120Hz as I watch a lot of sport. I can say that this TV is really incredible, especially when you consider the price. I read "techie" reviews at AVSforum and was impressed. Hockey seems to benefit the most from 120Hz with the fast player movement, fast camera panning, and tiny puck. Turning 120Hz (clearframe) off really makes you realize the difference. The colors are great, bright without being too unrealistic. The sound is good enough. I recommend turning the bass boost to medium to reduce some occasional distortion. Although it has a glossy frame, its thin, so isn't too distracting. The IR passthrough feature is great - I have the TV above the fireplace, and the A/V components off to the side out of view. The only negative thing I've found so far is the time it takes the TV to readjust after changing channels (using an HD satellite box...it takes a couple of seconds to change channels). However, I am not sure if this is the TV's fault or the satellite receiver. I've had the TV for several months and am still impressed every time I turn it on.

- This is an exceptionally compact and well designed projector.
The menus are intuitive. The features are practical.
At 2500 lumens it is perfectly adequate for all but the brighest rooms.
Some projectors are difficult to figure out the keystone correction controls... this one is simple.
I think it's worth the $1,000 I spent on it.
- I selected this model for its size and portability and wasn't disappointed in either. It also had good light output and excellent resoulution. On a recent business trip I used it for presentations up to six hours per day without a glitch.
- Enough said!
Okay... a little more...bright, crisp, widescreen in a compact format. Highly recommmend.
- We are located in Denver and purchased this product. It constantly shuts down with a temperature error. After sending it in for 6 weeks (Poor service is another issue) and having the mother board replaced, we are now told by Optoma support that it's an altitude issue and not even the "high altitude" mode will resolve it. They also tell us there is nothing they can do. I'd recommend steering clear of Optoma products.

5 comments about Samsung Touch Of Color 24" T240HD LCD HDTV Monitor.
- I bought this unit to use as a secondary preview monitor for HD Video Editing driven from a computer Video Card and from an HD camera through the component input but a few design decencies make it unstable for use as a reference monitor. With a crisp 1980X1200 display and many extra features not found in models in this price range it seemed like a good choice.
Unfortunately it fall short in these and other areas:
#1 all video displayed Component input is unmatchable in the default setting. While it is possible to use a test pattern and by making huge adjustments to the image controls get a watchable picture it the factory calibration makes it totally un-suited as a serious video monitor. Whites such as clouds are over blown and show no detail. Blacks are too black and also lack detail. Looking at the same image on a Sony, Toshiba, or Cheap Dynex reveals a smother, more accurate and detailed picture if not as dynamic.
Plugging the same professional Sony and Cannon into Component inputs on 6 other non-Samsung HDTVs produces a perfect picture that matches the camera viewfinder.
#2 Monitor color space through the DVI input whhile better, is still inaccurate. Whites are over blown, blacks and gray scale seems out of scale, and colors are oversaturated.
#3 Movies played on Blu-Ray player look artificial, all dark colors go to black and whites are overblown. Way Too much Contrast! Changing to movie mode only produces a washed out artificial look.
I think Samsung sets their sets to blow most casual shoppers away when they enter the store, but in the process they blow the real picture quality.
#4 Monitor base only tilts up not down to any degree. Also seems there in no wall mount option.
#5 Off-Center viewing is the worst I have seen on any current LCTV. Moving up or down only a few degrees causes a dramatic shift in brightness and color making it impossible to use monitor for even basic video editing. Lack of a Tilt-down Base or wall mount only compounds the problem.
Off-side viewing is very directional and I suspect it would make it a less then desirable for anything other then on-center viewing and not suitable for use in a kitchen or area where you would be moving around and trying to watch it from a distance.
#6 Speakers are cheap sounding.
#7 Installing the monitor driver in WinXp caused my other main display to also be recognized as a Samsung T240HD.
#8 Unit stretches 1920X1080 images to 1920X1200 by default giving HDTV images a profound stretched look. This can be changed by changing the monitor sync settings but has to be continually reset whenever you change sources or reset the color controls.
#10 Samsung Tech Support is hard to reach and more confusing then helpful and friendly.
- I purchased this for multi-purpose use...Blu-Ray Player capability, video editing, HDTV and DTV. As far as style goes, this gets a Grade A. The options menu is easily accessible via the remote included. Two picture options are available for HD aspect ratio: 16:9 setting, and "just scan," which appear identical to each other, both having letterbox on top and bottom so that you get full 1900X1080p HD. The HDTV ATSC tuner included is great. A cheaper alternative to full hd picture if you don't want to settle for 720p. I must disagree with the previous comment about the color. I have adjusted the color through the TV settings and also using the Mac display calibration tool. Picture looks better than the last three monitors I returned, 2 samsung, 1 HP 2207hm.
Anyways, I scanned for over air channels, got 13, scanned for DTV cable channels, got the usual 1-99, but also was able to find several HD channels outputting in 1080i right now. Seems a few are test channels until Feb. 17, 2009 when these channels will all be fully operational.
Bottom Line: monitor works great for PS3, blu-ray player, HDTV w/ today's full HD 1080p for under $700.
- So there is no mistake, this review is for the Samsung T240HD. It appears that others are posting reviews here for some other product because there are no cons to this HDTV/Monitor. I read the specs posted by Samgung before I purchased the T240HD and was impressed. I already own a 52" 1080p HDTV so to compare the T240HD, it is a fabulous 1080p HDTV and a spectacular computer monitor. It handles all inputs perfectly. I have a Playstation 3, a PC, and digital cable (no cable box) hooked to it. All modes are clear, sharp and bright. The remote is full featured and it handles Blu-Ray as expected. I paid $479.99 after shopping and watching the net.
Why would anyone want to wall mount a 24" TV?
For the 500 buck range, nobody else comes close in quality and features.
- I purchased the T240HD for usage as a computer monitor because of a long history with Samsung monitors being absolutely top notch. Unfortunately this product while being pitched as a monitor, makes a great TV but not a great monitor.
The resolution is very good (1920x1200) and it's very attractive and stylish.
There is no vertical height adjustment (typical for a TV but important to have in a monitor). Your desk / monitor stand had better be at just the right height. The edge is highly reflective and creates bad glare around the picture in a work environment. The adjustments are typical TV adjustments but not monitor adjustments (there is no horizontal or vertical position adjustment).
I've used Samsung monitors for many years and recommend them to my clients. When I finally purchased a HDTV I bought a 46" Samsung which is excellent. The T240HD makes a great HDTV but I regret purchasing it as a computer monitor.
- Short and simple I bought this monitor because I like it's features and it's looks. Hands down this TV looks way better then most TVs out there which if you're buying an HDTV monitor you need to like the way it looks and features take a back seat to that. In today's HDTV market the only TVs with better features are the ones just shown at a demo somewhere. Its not a matter for me in having the best but having what I want, and something I enjoy looking at even if its not turned on. If you want a pro monitor why the heck are you only spending $500. I own a PS3, Xbox 360, a PC, and I watch TV, so this TV has all the right inputs a turner a qam turner it really is a dream for me and I don't think I could have done better at the moment. If you are planning on buying this monitor know why you want I did and I'm a happy man, oh and it's a 1080p TV don't let somebody that doesn't know what they are talking about tell you it's not; I have owned this TV for a month now and it works as advertised which is all I wanted.

5 comments about PT-AE2000U LCD HD Proj 16K:1 1500 Lumens Hdmi/component/svid/ser.
- I am a die-hard CRT fan, but I finally had to buy a new projector to handle 1080p sources. I have never seen a fixed-pixel projector that can compete with CRT on black levels and shadow detail, but as CRTs are basically no longer produced I had little choice.
I purchased the PT-AE2000U instead of the Sony VPL-VW60 principally due to the lower price of this projector. My biggest concern in going from CRT was black levels, which is why I was looking at the Sony LCoS projectors. I never expected to even consider an LCD, but I read reviews (at trusted websites) saying this projector compares favorably to the Sony VPL-VW50 and VPL-VW100 in terms of black levels, and is better for color rendition.
I was very surprised at the shadow detail and low black level this projector is capable of producing. It's certainly better than I ever expected LCD to achieve, and in the end it was acceptable for me. While shadow detail is great, the lowest attainable black level is definitely not as dark as what I can get on my CRT (NEC XG-85, which I still have set up in my theater for direct image comparisons). I have not compared this projector side-by-side to a Sony LCoS in my theater, so I can't comment on which is better.
I am certainly satisfied in every other way with this projector. Color rendition seems perfect, no optical flaws, no screen-door effect at a viewing distance where you can discern 1080p resolution.
- This proj. was amazing .. i could not find this type of pic. in other proj.
- I just install mine, i dont know from where i start, my screen is 183" !! approx. 406cm x 227cm yes very big, distance projector to screen is about 9 meter's "27 foot" , also distance from my denon amp. to proj. is 15 meter approx."50 foot" by HDMI cable, got it from bettercables, and i would say that its eye poping, dont try DLP if you want clarity, LCD is the best, also my room is lit-up using some dimming lights, trust me, the picture quality is much much more better than what says in all review's, im still using my old dvd player , which is around $ 80 , line's, contrast, and image , all are great, i was worried because of the size of my screen, but its out of this world, i dont know how some say that its not good for big screen, i guess they are copying others review.
- I bought the PT-AE2000U one month ago, July 2008. It has surpassed by expectations. For the price I doubt you can find better. The start up time is under 1 min. The picture resolution is very good with Time Warner DVR box using HDMI and fantastic with Blu-Ray. The box is quiet and not hot during operation. The set up is a breeze.
Autofocus works well. I have used it during the day many times when the ambient light is not well controlled and the picture remains good. Of course, not like the picture when the light is minimal.
Over all, I am impressed with this product and would recommend it to anyone for a front projector home entertainment system.
- The image is very, very good. I am extremely satisfied with the product and the price.

- I got this TV for our RV. I wall mounted it on a folding arm mount. It offers 12v power input for use when AC isn't available. The DVD player works great right out of the box, as does the card reader. It also plays jpg CD's etc. Setup is simple. Absolutely no problems in the few months I have had it. I love this TV for my application.
- I bought this TV/DVD player for my husband for christmas. Being somewhat electronically challenged, especially where the abbreviations are concerned, I was hoping that I had bought what I presumed. He on the other hand, knows all about electronics and likes to have the best. He was extremely pleased with all of the features and picture quality. I bought it for our kitchen where we watch with our morning coffee. This is an excellent product.
- This TV/DVD has it all and I've have looked hard. Great LCD picture (viewed straight on like most LCDs) integrated DVD player, SD card reader, all of that plus it runs on 12V for the car and 180 channel ready. As far as I've seen it's the only 15" that does all that and more. (They also make an 8" with the same specs but not 180 channels). Sound isn't "big" and bassy but it's OK. Also it came from Beach Camera and the first unit I got had a bad pixel in the middle. Beach Camera replaced it very quickly and politely with free 2 day shipping.
- I bought mine by auction and find it works well enough as a bedroom TV (you have to be reasonable in your expectations of a 15" screen for a TV). Originally, I intended to use it as both a TV and as a monitor, and I think if I were doing that, I might give it a better rating, as its versatility is handy. The picture seems a bit fuzzy no matter how much I adjust the settings with the remote or physically adjust the tilt, so I have to wonder how well it would do as a monitor.
It is fairly full-featured as a TV, and the remote is lightweight but long enough to accommodate various dedicated buttons and to be found pretty easily when misplaced. I particularly appreciated having a dedicated CC button; I'm actually surprised that I still see TVs in this price range without such a button on the remote. It's attractive, lightweight, and works well as a DVD player so far. I only hooked it up as a monitor once (on a computer I ended up returning), so I only can verify that it does work as one, without being able to evaluate how well.
I wish the volume went up higher; I often work on a computer in another room and like to be able to monitor my shows from here, and I find that difficult with this TV. I find that when I have subtitles on, they sometimes are hard to read from the distance at which I watch the TV (as opposed to closed captions, which I find generally readable on this unit), but that's partly a function of the screen size and the fact that I'm using it as a bedroom TV rather than in a close-range setting, so it's not entirely Audiovox's fault.
Overall, I'm not horribly disappointed and don't feel I wasted all my money. I do wonder whether with enough knowledge I might have been able to search out a better unit with this combination of features, and I'm not sure I'd pay that price again for this unit if there were others out there with better picture. Nonetheless, when one considers the versatility and the elimination of the need for a separate DVD player, it turns out to be a decent deal ... especially if you can get a like-new one at a secondhand price!
- We bought this TV. The 1st one did not work so we were able to send it back and have it replaced. This new one I gave to my 16 yr. old daughter and she loves it. You can put a memory card in it or watch movies, plug it in the car to watch because it has a plug for the car. Well worth the money for her.
