  1. this set is a fine choice for your bedroom but I would not recommend it as your primary set as it is not a true high def 1080i set the picture is good when used with a high def box from the cable company a blueray or cd player with a hdmi connection but the built in dvd player is a little disappointing

  2. This is a very good set for the price we have as our secondary TV over the fireplace and are very happy with it. The picture is outstanding but I do have to agree that the on board DVD does not live up to the picture.

  3. We purchased this tv so that we didn't have to have a dvd player cluttering our bedroom. It works great so far and even though we have windows across from the tv it does not glare so you can still see the picture. The price was perfect so we are very happy. The drawback for some would be that it's not a narrow design because the dvd goes straight into the front.

  4. This TV stopped working 7 months after purchase. I bought it from Sears. No parts are available to repair this TV. The TV quit on 5/2/08. A part to fix it is not expected to be available UNTIL July 15, 2008. RIDICULOUS!!!!. Sears will not exchange or give credit for this piece of garbage.

  1. Just got the HP 47" MediaSmart TV and hooked it up to make sure it worked. I love it, very nice picture quality, very easy to hook up to your wireless network, and instantly have access to your home pc. Updated the tv's software over the internet flawlessly. You will not be disappointed.

  2. I purchased the MediaSmart TV 8 weeks ago and was very pleased. The picture WAS great and the setup fast and easy. If only it still worked. After only 2 months the main board died along with the picture. HP service just informed me they will replace the TV with a "reconditioned" TV. They will not provide a new one as this is not their policy. I would gladly accept that if it were a year old, but $2400.00 dollar and 2 months
is unacceptable. I'm not happy about acquiring someone else's headache. READ YOUR WARRANTY CAREFULLY.

  3. Recieved this product straight from Amazon. Got it in perfect shape, box was unblemished. Plugged it in and it never worked. Talked with HP, and they wouldn't send me another, just repair it at no cost. Like I want a brand new TV that needs repairs before it ever works. So I contacted Amazon and they were great. Unfortunately, they didn't have another to replace it, but they did all the work to get it shipped back, and I got a full refund, like it never happened. Its to bad, the TV was pretty, and it looked perfect where I had placed it. My guess is it was a bad power supply, but I still don't a have a new tv yet. Afraid to try again.

  4. I purchased a 58inch HP Pavilion HD TV roughly 2 years ago. The computer went out in the TV. HP replaced the TV as they could not fix the problem. The technician, (whom was wearing an HP shirt and name badge), that installed the new TV said that with the new TV my warranty resets. He told me this because I expressly asked "what happens if the new TV ends up having the same problem?" Less than 9 months later the new TV also broke with the same computer problem. I contacted HP technical department and I was told that the warranty explained to me by the HP technician was incorrect. They went as far as to try and say that the technician was from a 3rd party and didn't work for HP. I asked for the 3rd parties' name and was told that HP wasn't required to give me that information. I implore anyone that is considering buying a TV from HP to consider Sony or any other product TV besides HP.

  5. I wish I had read the review by F. Damico, 18 months ago(of course impossible as it was recently posted). I purchased a 65" HP DLP which I loved as a product....great picture, great sound, etc. Of course, things break..and that's where you look for a company to stand behind it's products.

    Well if you are looking at HP and TV's.... I'd look somewhere else! They clearly are not serious about the TV business or their reputation in it, to whit;
    1) I have so far made 7 telephone calls to HP. They won't provide a direct access to there TV department , only their HP 1-800 HP INVENT number, no matter how clearly you speak to their IVR system, it inevitably routes you to their PC support center on the other side of the globe...
    2) roughly 50% of the time that support center is successful in connecting you with their TV department
    3) if out of warranty, you need to purchase a service agreement (for $629)..which I did. HP says they will make three attempts, and if failing to repair the product, they will drop the charge to $369, and of course you are then stuck with a very large boat anchor.
4)HP represented that AT&T was the service provider, which it turns out is not truthful (AT&T turns around and subs that work out to someone else...no company, just individuals from what I can piece together)
    5) in the one attempt to repair the TV, in two weeks time, the individual who came out to work on the unit, confided to their sidekick " I've never work on this fancy a unit before", got scared half way through.... put the parts back together...told me he would read up on the TV and be out the next day to finish it.
    6) You guessed it...no show, no call...
    7) Back to HP (30 mins to get to the support department) at which point they inform me that someone will be out in another two days' time. Won't tell me who, won't narrow it down to a half a day, etc.
    8) NEW EDIT 8/28/08 ; You've got the drill by now..... no show on yesterday's service call...no call from HP or the Service tech infoming me of same (I was there the whole day). When I have an hour too waste on the telephone, I will yet again attempt another call.

So, like Mr. Damico, I beg you to save yourself the grief....do not buy an HP TV.

  1. I haven't owned another HDTV, so I have little for comparison, but this thing looks great. Great viewing angle, great inputs/outputs. The menu is a little non-intuitive, the channel info box is big and blocks much of the screen until it eventually disappears, and channel changing in general is quite slow, but I think that's common for digital TV.
--added a month later-- The HDTV "Blur" seems a excessive with this. Things are very clear unless there is a lot of movement. Dance and Sports are impossible to watch.

  2. Thus far, this has proven to be an excellent TV with full features, great picture, and was easy to hook up

  3. Have owned this set for several weeks now, and absolutely LOVE IT! Spectacular color and picture quality, and great ergonomics with it's thin bezel, slim profile and swivel base. This TV has a great feature set, build quality and connectivity vs. Sony and Samsung, and no shiny black plastic!

I researched this purchase for many weeks, and found the Mitsubishi to be comparable to the best rated sets out there. Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase. Set was purchased and fulfilled from Amazon, and delivered on time without a hitch.

  4. After months of researching which brand to buy, I decided to stick with Mitsubishi. I had owned one of their TV for close to 20 years before it broke down. The repairman said they don't sell parts for this TV anymore, which forced me to look into purchasing a new TV.

I'd researched many brands of TV including Sony to decide which one was the clearest. Sony to me had the best picture but I was afraid to buy their TV because I had a history of repairs with their TVs.

Then when I saw the high rating on the Mitsubishi LT46133 in Consumer Report, I decided to purchase this TV.

The color is brilliant and the picture looks awesome. I brought an up-conversion DVD player and there's truly a difference in clarity between an up-conversion DVD player and a regular DVD player. I'm just waiting for the Blu-Ray player to go down in price.

The 3 HDMI inputs and 2 of each composite, component and S-video inputs really makes it convenient for all your video equipments.

If you purchase this TV, I suggest you lower the contrast, brightness and back light settings. Otherwise the color white would be too bright.

Amazon was great with delivering this. I ordered this Monday night and the TV was at my apartment Thursday morning.

  1. I had a horrible time with this product. I paid $1800 for the LP640, fired it up and it went straight back down citing a fan failure. I generated an RMA with InFocus , sent it back , and they sent it right back to me UNTOUCHED! UGGGHH!! I generated another RMA and they replaced the unit with another but this one also had a fan failure. On the eve of an important company presentation they wanted to charge my credit card $3700 to guarantee delivery of a THIRD unit to get here in time for the presentation. I'm getting my money back on this piece of junk and getting a different, cheaper model. I wonder if they had a bad batch or something.......

  2. Our company has used InFocus, including two of this particular projector, for years without problems. Of the four projector that we currently use (3 InFocus, 1 Sony), only the Sony has had problems (but I wouldn't use one experience to say that Sony is a bad company).

More importantly, this projector has good projection and lumens/light, and is very easy to use. We have done very little modification to the factory defaults (nor have we needed to) and have been very happy with the performance.

  3. I purchased this product from Amazon.com. The product was never shipped to me. The amazon.com claimed that I returned the product and charged me shipping and handling fee. Eventually, they refund the charge. I called amazon.com. they admitted that they made mistake and claimed amazon never recall back product that thay sell to customer. So, they place another order for me and guarantee ship me by certain day so I won't missed the presentation which I need the product. I waited and waited. I never received this product!

  4. I like the projector, it's perfect for watching movies.
However, the lamp only last for less than 100 hrs. It is suggested to last for 2000 hrs. I sent an email to Infocus supports, stated that the projector had power on, the fan was running, but it threw an error message said 'the lamp couldn't strike'. And I told them that the lamp was used for less than 100 hrs. Guess how they reply me?
    "Our Factory Service Center will
troubleshoot and diagnose the failure based on the symptom/failure data provided by you (your
organization). The issue to be examined is Fan, no lamp ."
There's no phone number that you can call them, the only way to contact them is email.

  1. I purchased the LG 42LC7D recently to replace my Toshiba rear projection HD CRT, that failed after 3 and half years. I shopped around for the awhile and found that this TV had the best picture and features for the money. I got it set up and mounted to the wall. I was impressed by the picture. The HD looked really good on my old TV, but this one looks much crisper. The colors did not seem as vibrant as they were on my old TV, but they were close. I had it hooked up through component and HD looked excellent, but the analog channels were still a soft, and dull. Then I went and picked up the cable box that supports HDMI. I was blown away at the difference. I did not think it would matter that much. HD looks nearly the same, but the colors are much deeper. The biggest difference I noticed was in the analog channels. They look incredible! The colors are much better, and the picture is crisp. It is one of the best pictures I have ever seen with an analog signal. I couldn't be happier. Overall, I am very happy with this TV, and you can't beat the price.

  2. I purchased this TV about a month ago and so far no complaints, whatsoever. I have hooked it up to a Sony upconverting DVD player, and a digital-HD cable box. Spent initial half an hour to calibrate my input signals from these devices, and voila! crystal clear picture. Btw, you should always calibrate your TV because the factory settings are there to make these stand out the competition, not always The Best for your TV room ambiance.

I am not using internal speakers, since my devices are routed to audio reciever, so cant really say anything about the TV sound quality.

Overall, for the price, I am very happy and I think I made the right decision not to go for Samsung 40" which I was getting for about the same price.

  3. When I brought my 42" LG home and set it up, we were getting erratic behavior--the picture would freeze for 10 seconds or so four or five times a half hour. I called LG and the cable company. The latter changed a card in the set top box and everything was fine. I saw the cable guys at a neighbor's home a few days later. Both of them had bought the 42" LG like mine! The two of them agreed that they'd seen lots of new HD sets, but thought the LG was the best cost/performance buy.

  4. I couldn't believe how dark and muddy the picture was on this TV. I tried with the HDMI and component from a high-quality Sony system. HDMI certainly looked a lot better and I could scale the image to the native resolution of the TV and it still looked awful. Adjusting brightness and contrast just washed out the picture and made all the blacks gray.

  5. I had this TV for 6 months now, and the TV is perfect for the price tag. I like the picture quality, sound. I dont know why some people had issues with it.

  1. Terrible sound. Impossible to calibrate. Yellow lines on some HD channels. No pnp. Stay away from this one even if they give it away.

  2. One month after the one year warranty ran out, so did my color tuner. I was Westing HOSED

  3. While the picture and features of this TV are great for the price, you will be very unhappy should you have any problem with it. Mine keeps switching inputs for no apparent reason and going blank. Also the sound does not work with the HDMI input. Westinghouse service admits these are problems when I call but the only solution is to ship them the TV in California because they have no parts for it already. Neither do they have any local service center where it could be returned. The freight to ship it to California is $245.00. Great warranty, isn't it? My advice is to pay more upfront and get a brand that has manufacturer's support.

  4. I've had this TV for a little over a year now, so I've had plenty of time to formulate an opinion.

    -Pros-
*Great Picture in any mode. I have a PS3 and watch Blu-Ray movies and they look incredible!
    *2 HDMI inputs
    *Big bang for your buck.
*Its been over a year and haven't had any technical issues.

    -Cons-
*Unimpressive sound quality. It isn't bad until you start turning it up pretty loud. I like movies rather loud, so thats where I had my issues with the sound.
*Doesn't save your audio settings when you change your audio output from internal to external, so every time you turn your tv on and want to use your home theatre for cable/sattelite sound you have to reselect that option on the menu.
*If you do use the audio output to a receiver you have to put the TV near 100% to get a decent output to your stereo receiver.

    -Summary-
A very good picture with over a year of trouble free viewing. The cons are really minimal when you factor in everything you get for the price. I would highly recommend this TV to everyone.

  5. Waited a year to see if Westinghouse would fix the HD Tuner that randomly locks up when changing channels or powering on.

They won't admit there is a problem with this model only their 47".

I use OTA (rabbit ears) to get my HD channels and when it is getting the HD signal the TV will occasionaly (about 4 times a week) lock up. Lock up completly the only way to unlock it is to pull the power cord from the wall.
