  1. THIS IS A GREAT TV, I HAD DISH NETWORK HD INSTALLED AND WOW WHAT A PICTURE I HAVE READ SOME OTHER REVIEWS ABOUT THE HUMMING NOISE BUT I DONT GET THAT NOISE AND THE PICTURE ON JUST RABBIT EARS IS SUPERB AS WELL.

  2. I bought this Mitsubishi to replace a smaller Sony HDTV and had it for three days before returning it. There were two problems:

First the TV cast a very noticable blue cast on dark colors including people's hair, walls, and virtually anything dark. There is little black or gray. There are three factory settings for color adjustment: Brilliant the default factory setting, which cast the blue cast, bright, and natural. The best picture is the brilliant, and to get rid of the the blue one has to go to a very dim "natural" picture. If I wanted to watch a dim picture I could buy a used standard definition TV for virtually nothing. The set has great color controls, but no matter what I did, including lowering the blue drive I could not get rid of the problem.

The hum many others have commented on starts out low and after an hour is very noticable. I had no such problems with the Sony, and I also have a Samsung, both of which had no problems like this.

I bought a Toshiba 65" to replace the Mitsubishi, and I could immediately tell the picture was going to be great.

    Buy at your own risk.

  3. The first thing we looked for in a TV was the picture, and mitsubishi really hit the nail on the head there, the colors are beautiful, however quite substantial motion lag is noticed. I liked the picture of the Samsung DLPs more, but they were also considerably more expensive.

I have hooked my laptop up to the screen via the PC connection and the picture is AMAZING, but have not tried out the usb input yet. The number of HDMI's is fine for me. The interface is pretty good, it is simple to switch between inputs and the sound is OK, but as some other reviewers have said, some fiddling with it is necessary.

The fan is quite obnoxious if you are close to the TV, but at a regular sitting distance for this TV(about 15-20 feet) It is not noticeable. I have never been bothered by the sound of the cooling fan other than when I go back behind the TV to connect something. It is quite loud then, and the fan is really quite forceful, it blasts hot air out of the left hand side and kept blowing things off of a shelf we had next to it. This leads me to question how the TV would operate without the ventilated location it has in my home, and that it might easily overheat.

The one thing that I really dislike about this TV is that the bulb burnt out after only 8 months of use. We sent for a new one under its one year warranty and it shipped actually quite quickly. So their customer support was impressive, but I just don't understand why the bulb on this one doesn't last. We had another DLP TV before this one and the bulb on on that one never burnt out. I can only hope that the new one doesn't burn out because by that time it will be out of warranty and these bulbs run for around $250. Yikes!!!

  4. Mitsubishi once positioned itself on the upper scale of quality video and television products. No more. It's questionable if their DLP sets can genuinely produce a 1080p picture as advertised and their customer service and customer relations is pure garbage. Don't touch this or any other Mitsubishi Television product with a 10-pole. You'll be taken and you'll be sorry. Sony, Samsung and Sharp offer superior products and customer service. Mitsubishi has fallen to the bottom of the heap.

  5. Yes there is a slight humm...but not real noticeable...the product has a fabulous picture...only problem I had was with a couple HDMI sources (my Apple TV would only do 1080i if I hooked up via component - would not work under HDMI.)... But other than that...its a GREAT TV.

  1. Don't expect any service from a third rated company.
If you are buying a big ticket item or an expensive item, don't go with Samsung.
They will not help you when it breaks down even when it's under the warranty.
They will delay it until the warranty is over.

  2. stay away from amazon, filled with rippers offering low cost for products and who gets screwd, you do and amazon isn't doing anything about it, also don't trust this site http://www.escrowd.com it is a fake site made up to take your money, do not trust it as it isn't listed with BBB as a business in Paris France

  1. Ended up buying at Best Buy.

It was between Sharp and Phillips. Had both at home and compared. Phillips brighter and clearer picture. Sharp had better black. Phillips auto format (16:9 vs 4:3 aspect ratio) made viewing different channels infinitely better. Its does it automatically. Looked at others in the store priced up to 1000. Still this was the best. Why worry about the remote ? I have a digital command remote suplied by cable company. Had program pre-sets - just punch in code. Wala ! it worked no problemo. Even if you don't get it for this price, anything under $800 would be a good deal IMHO.

  2. I have owned the TV now for a total of 5 months, unfortunately, the last three months the TV has been in repair (which is covered by the warranty). The customer service is poor, which makes the problem only worse. My TV was working fine, until one day, the screen went blank. Once this happened, a series of backordered parts for repair, incompetency, etc. prevailed, and I still do not have a functioning TV. Perhaps, the most frustrating aspect of this entire ordeal is that I bought a Phillips TV b/c I was under the impression it was better quality and thus reliable. I was mistaken. Please know that I am writing this review while I am on hold with customer service, now for the 13th week. Avoid this product at all costs! If you don't believe me, just look up this TV and model series in google, and see all of the frustration forums.

  3. Philips produce line seem's to be a great one. TV working fine ...... Comcast, on the other hand .........

  4. This TV was good for the price until it started having major problems seven weeks after I purchased it. The picture started jumping up and down on the screen, blinking as it did this. Then, after several minutes of flashing, the screen would go blank. The customer service experience has been TERRIBLE, which is why I took the time to write this review--to warn people before they buy this TV. The person who was supposed to fix this TV under full warranty tried to charge me for labor, which was supposed to be covered. After that happened, Phillips claimed there was no one else in my area who could fix the TV. So, when the TV wasn't repaired correctly the first time, I had to take it back to the same person who tried to steal money from me. Do not buy this TV! Of the few reviews I read, another person had almost the exact same problem with their TV. The broken television combined with a poor customer service experience is why I have rated this TV one star.

  5. I researched this tv for my wife and ordered it for her. She is very pleased with it. I installed it and after following prompts on the screen, it said it had found 11 digital channels and 12 analog channels. It gets channels we didn't know existed, using the antenna. I had never heard of decimal channels, like 9.4, Create. Now, after hooking up to directv, without subscribing to HD, the reception is exceptional, without the HD, and when we want to get the HD local channels, she switches over to the antenna. Satelite doesn't bring in any of the decimal channels.

Now, I would like to buy a 26" Phillips LCD HDTV for my den. Whew I ordered tv they were not available.

  1. This is our first LCD TV. Our tube TV finally died. My wife actually picked out this unit and Consumer Reports also recommended this unit. We purchased it directly from AMAZON on January 23, 2007. I wanted to wait a couple of months before I write my review to see if anything happens. But to my surprise the TV is still running and there have been no problems. We have digital HD and the pictures are great. It took me a couple of weeks to get use to watching tv with such sharp color and contrast. However, if you are watching normal digital programming you may not be too happy as it is flat. But overall its a good buy for us.

  2. This TV gives a beautiful picture. But, as some other reviewers have mentioned, there's this little problem with the "creaking" or "clicking" or "ticking" noise, whatever you call it, when the TV is warming up or cooling down. On our first one, this noise got to be so distracting that we returned it as defective and got a new one. Unfortunately the new one has this problem too, though it hasn't gotten as bad as the first one yet. The jury is still out whether we will keep it.

We are on our third Sharp LCD now, all have had great pictures but have had minor but annoying quality control issues.

  3. This is my second TV that I have got. The first one had creaking sounds coming from inside the moment you start the TV. The second one has the same problem too. The sharp customer service sucks big time.
The picture quality is good. The set up is easy too.

  4. I have owned this TV since 2-15-07 . I got that Cracking sound so many talked about for the first 2 months now it went away . I did some research on found on the web that its just the plastic case adjusting to the heat. Other wise awesome TV. I send all my sound thru receiver so sound is not an issue that a few complained about . In fact next week Buying the 32 inch version of this for the bedroom . Friends bought other TV'S and think I HAVE BETTER PICTURE.

  5. We were pretty happy with our 37 inch Aquos until it didn't turn on one day. The Sharp customer warranty is useless - I have never received such appalling service - basically they don't care. After 2 weeks after having our TV in repair I find out that the spare part has not even been ordered yet and any efforts to have the process sped up have met a brick wall. Might as well be talking to a voice recording so mechanical and unsympathetic are their operators. I have tried so hard to be supplied a replacement unit but again they take no responsibility and their attitude is completely uncaring. I will never buy Sharp again, and I will be recommending to all my friends and family not to buy from Sharp. I will be sticking with tried and trusted Pioneer and Sony. Sharp are a complete discredit to Japanese companies.

  1. I am a teacher and purchased one of these for use in school. I like it so much, I bought another for home. A week after the second one arrived the bulb in the first blew. Three weeks later the bulb in the second unit went. I called Sharp and explained and shipped both in. They replaced the bulb in the first unit under the warranty, but the second they wouldn't replace since it was over 90 days. After much "discussion", they gave me the "deal" of a half price bulb ($150). I took it and now will hold my breath to see how long the new bulbs last. I treat these machines like babies, never bumping them, always use proper shutdown techniques, and regularly clean dust off fan grilles, but still lost both bulbs. The specs from Sharp say the bulb will last 2000-3000 hours. Not even close! Beware of this machine.

  2. I read the other reports unhappy about Bulb life. We've had this unit for about 20 months and have been very happy with it. We've definitely gotten 2000 hours of use with it before blowing a bulb. It certainly doesn't go to 3000 hours (at least not for us), but for the price of this unit, even with a bulb replacement, it's a great deal. Technology keeps improving so using this for a couple years while prices continue to drop and quality and features keep getting better is a nice and affordable option for folks with an open wall to project on.

If you compare this box on any white or grey wall in your house with an HD signal to a 1000 dollar price range flat screen of the largest size you can get, you'll definitely choose this. That's the same price comparison as buying this plus a replacement bulb. There's likely going to be something even cooler in a couple years and perhaps when it's time to replace the bulb a second time, you'll choose a new unit with new features at that time. Until then, for the money, you'll love this thing. We're totally spoiled watching everything at 7 foot high on our living room wall. HD sports especially look great. Watching regular non HD TV isn't as amazing, thought the size is still great. Everyone who has visited, including those with really nice flat screens have raved about it. We've had a better unit (way more expensive, but better stats) which blew up after about 60 days. That DID have a better picture but since it blew so quickly, we traded for this unit. If budget is an issue for you, this is a great way to get a projector. Flat screens are nice too, but tiny in comparison and the features are ever changing and the prices are ever dropping. Again, this is a good option while you wait a couple years for better and newer options. I am sorry to hear about those who've had bad bulb life. It's also unfortunate to hear Sharp wasn't more understanding. But the unit itself is well done and well priced.

And for those considering a screen, if you have a blank wall, try that first. You might find you like the extra size you get just by going directly to the wall versus the limitions of a screen. We didn't do anything special to our light grey walls and it looks fantastic.

  3. I bought this product at Sam's Club for around $800.00. The picture is good. It was easy to set up. I projected this on a wall with good results. I have had this for about 1 and 1/2 years. This is located in a vacation condo and not used much. The bulb blew with 200 hours of use out of the promised 2000. I was disappointed. The new bulb cost about $300.

  4. Our church also had gotten this unit, only using it on Sundays. Had it for under one year and the bulb went. Said it had 72% left on it, hardly no where close to 2000-3000 hrs. life. Not happy with bulb.

  5. For the love of God do not buy this garbage. I just ordered its second bulb that exploded at 24% of its so-called life the first bulb went at roughly 50%. I pampered the second bulb and kept it dust free and vacuumed.I always set it at economy setting instead of the regular setting which was supposed to prolong its life. What a joke and as for the dregs at Sharp they are rude, unhelpful and put you on permanent ignore. THEY DO NOT CARE AND THEY KNOW THE ITEM IS A P.O.S............all that being said it is too bad because the projector itself is really great when it works but the bulb is the single most important item and is junk.
